[Q] Charging while powered down backlight? - AT&T LG Optimus G

Does anyone know if the backlight is suppose to stay on when the phone is charging while powered off? I was going to sleep and noticed after the battery indicator went away the backlight was slightly lit. Can anyone check on their phone for me? It's only noticeable in the dark. It's just unsettling that the blacklight be on for 8+ hours a night.

Mine does it to. If I remember right turning it off while plugged in stops that from happening.

Glad I'm not the only one. It bugs me a lot. I had to turn my phone on while it was charging just to make sure the back light stayed off. I'll try plugging it in then powering off.

Yeah if you flash the Alternate Teenybin with LGNPST it fixes the bootloader/fastboot. This fixes the backlight while phone is powered down. And also adds visual graphics to the fastboot menu. (No more navigating blindly.)

If you are Stock JB, rooted, and already unlocked, just flash the alt teenybin. You won't lose any data or have to reflash your Rom. But I would ask in the teenybin thread just to make sure.

OH that was my mistake. The backlight issue isn't fixed with the new alt bin/bootloader. I also remember someone saying that if you plug in the charger and then power down the phone it works. Maybe that's why it appeared to be fixed on my device. I specifically remember after flashing the alt bin I charged my phone while it was off and noticed that the backlight stayed off. Not sure why but I just tried it again and sure enough the backlight stayed on. That sucks. I've gotten into the habit of putting my phone on silent and charging while it is off. But I still don't like that. I wonder if the freegee devs know?

Umm... no. Its not. For it to happen to a lot of people on different roms and kernels? You really think its a kernel issue?
It's probably an issue with cwm and it's also probably related to the type of kernel. To say the truth, I don't think it's that big a deal. It has posed no real problems to me when flashing, and if anything, removing the battery will do the trick. A minor inconvenience in an otherwise perfect tool.

Its not a big deal, but its annoying. You'll have to wait till your phone boots to be able to turn it off. Taking off the case, then taking off the battery cover and taking out the battery is a lot of work to just turn your phone off.

I mean, even the stock Samsung firmware gives Fc and issues every now and then and they do get paid by us users (both on acquisition and through Google adds, and free marketing data)

K remove battery and plug usb into computer but not into phone. Next hold the two volume buttons and plug in the usb to your phone and see if it boots.
I might be wrong about this, but it seems like you wiped your Os. You might need to find someone to do something called jtag (I think that's what it's called) its basically the process used during manufacturing to install the Os. Look up how to un brick a hard brick. You'll read more about it.

At this point I would recommend either buying a battery and external charger for it to see if your problem is a dead battery and a phone that is not charging. Otherwise, you will probably need a JTAG service to fix your phone. Mobiletechvideos is a service that has been used by many members. The owner is a member himself.
You could try another cable, but I don't think that is the issue. When the phone was killed mid flash it corrupted the system to the point that it won't charge or boot.

Your power button is stuck. The same thing happened to mine. To remedy this, DON'T use the power button. Use volume to wake device up. Then program a button to turn screen off. Holding search button is my power off. Screen shots can be programmed too.
After awhile your button will become unstuck after not using it much. You'll still have to be careful though.
I was having issues with mine vibrating continuously a few times and and the Samsung logo would show up but then just go back to black.. I was able to get it into recovery mode to reflash that's why I mentioned it.

I had this happen with my first i717 Note on AT&T. It happened shortly after it fell out of my lap. Everything else checked out and it ended up being a cable that had popped off. I buy my devices at BestBuy and always get black tie coverage, so I just took it back. New phone was there in 2 days time.
Yeah, many things lead to the almost dead phone. I didn't think about dropping-cable/connector unseating. That will go on my list of likely causes to investigate. Thanks.
This happened to me after I upgraded my twrp to 2.4.?- the newest version. It made my phone go nuts, unstable, and I had triple vibrates with no power on. Very weird! What fixed it- I long pressed power for 10-15 seconds, it triple vibrated, and then pushed power again and it would boot.
Also had trouble getting into the new recovery. I would hold volume -and+, power, wait for the triple vibration, release power- keep holding volumes till samsung flashed on screen, then release volumes. Then recovery would pop up.
After I rolled back to an older twrp, it was as normal as always.
I also had this issue once and it was battery related. Apparently the battery was so low that all it did was vibrate. So, you might want to check that as well.
i am experiencing the same issue tried everything i could thing of (battery pull, press and hold power button etc) everything but nothing worked please help

HELP! S3 touchscreen not responding.

Since yesterday I am facing this problem.
Last evening the touchscreen of my phone just stopped responding. It happened so: all of the sudden the touch wouldn't respond. Pressing the power button to switch of the screen for sleep mode was not happening. The last thing I had done was pull down the notification bar so that so it was stuck there. I pressed and held the power button to restart and it worked fine. After a few hours again it happened. Restarted again. Worked. But now everytime its happening. It stops responding. I restart then it works for 2-3 minutes and stops responding and again Ihave to restart and again it stops after a couple of minutes.
I tried going into recovery mode and download mode and it enter and it charges properly also.
Also, last night I switched the phone off and I left it on charge annotd today morning when I switched it on the problem is still there.
please help me out
My galaxy s3 is rooted and its running on stock rom 4.1.2 and siryah kernel.
Is it a hardware problem or software? What can be done?
Another thing just happened now. It stopped responding while I was watching a video on youtube. The screen didnt respond but the video was working and after a while the video stopped but the audio was still playing!

If u use your phone while on charge that only harms the battery (it will make it last less...but it is inevitable anyways who dooesnt use phone whike on charge)...
What would be the very best option would be to factory reset through recovery (u have clockworkmod right?) (U can save apps with titanium backup) and flash a new rom and THEN a new kernel.
If you flash foxhound it comes with kernel already backed.
BUT before doing this (nobody likes to start off fresh) just try flashing another kernel first(or try and get an updated version of siyah kernel, maybe you got the s2 variant, which has a higher build version than the s3, making it look obsolete).

[Q] trouble booting up CM 10.1

I flashed CM 10.1 and gAPPS(using cwmr), (I noticed that it took a LOT shorter than usual), and followed the instructions flawlessly, and when I was done with everything, I rebooted the phone, and nothing happened it went to the motorola logo and stayed there. I let it sit for a half an hour, and nothing happened. So I pulled out the battery, and loaded up CWMR again, I tried flashing it again making sure I did every step on the instructions and the same thing happened. After that, it wouldnt even boot up if I held down the power/sleep button, So I plugged it in to my computer, and it went to the motorola logo after about 2 minutes of a dark screen with the green LED on. I'm at a point where the only way I can power on the device is plugging it in to the charger. What would I have to do to install it successfully? Should I just go back to CM 10? and if so do I use a Micro SD card?

How can I find that out? The file is called "cm-10.1-20130826-UNOFFICIAL-epinter-olympus.zip" if that's what you were looking for.

I have not.. Is there another one I could try that actually works? also, I'm not having to wait ten minutes for the phone to boot up anymore. It boots, and sits at the "dual core technology" screen.

Is there a specific one that works(for you)? If so, which one? (I need to get this fixed ASAP.)
When it comes to ICS/JB ROMs, don't ever ask for "one that works". If you need a quick fix, go back to GB.

Personally, I've had no issues booting up on any ICS/JB ROM so far. the only thing that has been an issue is the touch screen. I made an error back in July/Aug to flash an alternate kernel, thinking that it would help. in the end, it killed half of my touchscreen.
