I have a Galaxy S3 on contract from T Mobile. It came unbranded and unlocked etc. Its now 6 months old.
It was rooted and had CWM on it. I recently swapped from Omega V35 to HD Revolution.
It was working fine. This morning it just died.
I can not get it into download mode, i can not get into boot mode. There are no LED's on. The screen doesnt do anything.
It is completely lifeless whether on battery, mains charger or usb connected to PC..
Is this dead?
Or would a USB jig help?
Im worried taking it back to t mobile, i think the warranty is void?
Thanks
It might be bad battery, try different battery. Mine wont turn on without battery.
As you can't go into download mode, so Samsung support can't check for warranty

I've had a Galaxy S III for a month now, after a full charge it wont turn on "it overheated i think". It does go to download mode and i'm able to flash the phone with the cable plugged in and the battery in and out, but that's all the life i get out of the phone.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this I've tried "blowing the hole trick" but the cable connection is fine...
It's got me stuffed... If you need any extra info just ask and i'll try and answer it

Have you have flashed other stock roms? Have you tried charging via usb with a different cable. If nothing is working its service center time, hope you have warranty.

My S3 suddenly died and its not responding pressing the power button. And sad thing is it wont go through recovery mode and download mode using the button combination. Anyone experienced? and somehow is there any fix for this other than having it service? Need help badly
Im on Stock ICS with root...
Root voids warranty ..
You need to try a USB recovery jig from ebay or the like to boot to download mode .

Tried the usual suspects like a new battery & charger lead?

Happened to me before. Checked my battery stats and showed a complete drop in battery. Put it on charge. If not then what the user above said. JIG it.

Hi guys,
I am having an issue with my S3....I have been flashing omegas rom onto my S3 for a while now and its all been fine. put v33.2 on there....working fine for a few days...then all of a sudden phone started to slow down every now again hanging etc, then phone just had a black screen today....nothing happened..no response the battery wasn't as i had just charged it.
Tried battery pull kept it out for 15 minutes, nothing, put the charger in nothing. Left the charger in for a couple hours now..nothing, tried a new battery also nothing. I cant get to the flashing screen to download screen nothing at all.
HELP!!!!!
Thanks.
Sounds like it needs a trip to a Samsung service centre.
Yes has to be sent back samsung/warranty, but first he has to get rid of the custom ROM somehow...
Sounds like another sudden death case.
Don't worry about custom ROM if phone is dead Samsung have no way of knowing, they'll just replace the mobo

Tried that...nothing is it worth a jig?
here's the problem!!!
I rarely use s3 while exams going on!!
last time I switched off it while it is on 4% or 5% of battery.. and thrown in to the bag
now I just took phone and tried to turn it on!!
phone wont boot up..considered charging makes some sense..just connected cable to the s3..a grey icon of battery occurs and shutdown..again tried by plugging off and on..nothing happens same grey battery icon and shutdown..read somewhere that holding power and menu button will startup the phone..its working but phone again switched off after booting up in about 2 sec..
do I consider replacing battery?? if that's the case..it gave me an average battery life of day before.
I don't know what to do??:crying::crying:
someone please suggest me what to do
thanx in advance!!!
anyone???
Hold on Vol-Down+Home+Power and see if you can boot into download mode.
If you do plug your phone and reflash stock firmware through Odin.

No problem. I suggest trying another battery. And this is the best scenario here...

thank you!! it helped me to figureout something..but still confusing
I replaced a battery of another s3..
it worked..the best thing is my battery worked on another s3..
but my phone is not charging even after replacing battery..i thought charging pin of s3 is reason for all confusion..but if its the reason..when my battery is completely down(yesterday) I plugged in charger and it shown me some grey icon of charging(if charging pin is not working it will not show up)..and again confusion started..
iam currently in india..phone is rooted using android revolution hd rom..my warranty is not expired still..am I eligible for warranty??can I claim warranty?? I thought its not related to software issue..so comes under warranty.
ok even if it doesnot comes under warranty?? can I go for service center for repair..will they repair it(of course by taking some extra bucks)?
thanks again!!

bro i think your charger is the problem
Have you tried plugging it to a computer via USB cable? If that does not work then maybe buy a new battery. Cos there's a flaw in some Samsung batteries. They die completely if they reach 0%. Hope it helps. Good luck

I would bet the charger. My S3 always go to 0% before charging and never had a prob...
You should...
a) Flash latest software from Samsung through Odin for your country
b) Root it through chainfire's autoroot
c) Install and use Triangle Away to reset counter
d) Perform full unroot through supersu
e) Check if you have official status in download mode
Then you should use your warranty. Probably problem is in your USB cable or USB port in your device. I suggest firstly trying with other cable and if it doesn't help do as I told you above (if possible of course) and send it to warranty with a note "does not charge".
this happened to me and it was just the power button being stuck...I had the exact same issues.... I have 4 batteries so the issue was clearly not battery related. All i did was smack the phone around a bit and boots fine now.
mine just freeze in batery icon when i try to charge off.... but he charge normal on. anyone have that issue?

Yes, Sanosuke, i have the same problem. I think it happened after trying to use triangle away on my i9305T. When turned off, phone will charge, but frozen at the battery screen (at 0%, screen wont dime, nor change to the current battery levels).
Anyones know how to revert the changes made by triangle away?
Thanks!
I'm having the same issue installed Gummy ROM 4.4.4 everything is flawless except charging the device while powered off shows a grey battery with a frozen white circle
Ahm is the problem solved? Im experiencing the same..i cnant boot up and hen when i plug it on the charger gray battery with a circle inside is the only thing showing up.. i dont know if i can boot it up to download mode or etc.. can u rply here [email protected]
I had finally installed a custom kernel for my us cellular galaxy s3 (sch-r530u)
ran fast charge on it...
it charged fine but later when it had died now it wont charge at all
I have tried several AC adaptors, car charger, and my computer
all that happens is the phone tries to turn on and then dies before the OS can start
if I plug it in I do not see the charge light turn on
I do not have a warranty as I bought this phone used from a friend that upgraded to the s5.
I am assuming this could just be the battery (maybe somehow fast charge messed up my battery?)
I just wanted to check here before I went and bought anything.
Thanks for any advice.

Seems like USB cable was not capable of that bigger numbers or you just used too big amount for fast charge overall, and that was bad for the battery.
Replacing battery will do the job.
You may also have blown the charging circuit inside the phone, but try changing the battery first.
You have posted in the wrong forum and wrong section, this is for i9300 only.
