I tried to install the update to 4.1, but wasn't on .211. I was on 215, so the update failed. I backed up and tried to restore to the very beginning of my backups, that failed and then I rebooted my phone. After that the phone will not turn on. I get the moto dual core screen, then it goes black. I can hold in all 3 buttons and bring up the ap fastboot...I've tried using RSD and razr utility, but the computer isn't recognizing my phone, it doesn't show up in RSD. In ap fastboot it says battery ok (after I've charged it), connect usb, data cable. Before I thought it said it was connected. Please help me!!??!?
I've always been pretty good at figuring out what I'm doing when it comes to rooting and flashing ROMS...guess I got too cocky...lol.
Try a different USB port. Make sure you're using the moto cable. Also try rebooting the computer. If that doesn't work we can try some other things too. PM me if you need help and I'll do my best.

It is hard to tell if it is showing up in RSD Lite. It doesn't show under "Device Properties"
It will show in the first column of the chart below under "Model" on the first line. Most of what it says there is hidden because he column is so narrow. Bbut if you widen the column it will say "blah, blah, blah, spyder"
I restarted my computer and it registered again, only for my phone battery to be low. I'm hoping it's charging, I have no way to tell.
In RSD there was nothing in any of the columns showing up. After restarting the computer it did show up. It just wouldn't do anything with my battery so low. I'm going to let the phone charge all night and try again tomorrow morning. Thank you for the help. Hopefully I'll be on here saying that it worked instead of asking for more help!
(How did I not think to restart my computer? Lol)
Ok, another problem. My phone was plugged in all night and didn't charge. How am I supposed to charge it? Am I screwed?
It isn't bricked 'till it's bricked
Since you ran out of battery wou will need a factory cable to flash it back to .211, you could buy one on ebay or make it yourself with a disposable micro usb cable.

Yea, that's what I was afraid of. My hubby tried to make me one, but instead of soldering, he tried to just connect the wires. That didn't work. Looks like I'm going to be forking out the money for a cable that I will (hopefully) only use once. Ugh! I feel so stupid right about now...lol. Thank you for all your help!! It's greatly appreciated!
If you have problems getting your phone to be recognized by windows, the droid rzr utility has the drivers you need included in the DRIVERS-REQUIRED folder.

So I just received a replacement phone because I bricked my previous one and I think I may have bricked this one as well (because I'm an idiot).
I can't get anything to show up on my screen except the screen that has a phone a yellow triangle with a ! and a computer. They're little icons lined up in the middle of the screen when I try to turn it on.
How this happened:
I upgraded my stock phone to Froyo using Kies and then I tried to flash the KA6+Voodoo firmware that I found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870480 using Heimdall on my mac.
I had put the phone into download mode, selected the zImage and clicked start and it just sat there for a little bit before it said "Failed to receive device info response!"
I didn't know what to do after that so I just tried to restart the phone and I ended up with that error screen that I'm becoming more familiar with than I would like to be...
If anybody can help save my phone I would really appreciate it.
You just need to go through the normal odin steps to go back to stock.
The instructions on how to odin are in this forum.. I'm kinda lazy this morning sorry.
Odin isn't recognizing my phone right now and Windows is saying that it's detecting a "gadget serial" device but can't successfully install drivers for it. Based on some advice I found elsewhere, I'm installing Samsung PC Studio which should contain the drivers for the "gadget serial" device.
Hopefully Odin will work then...
also try a different cable. I know that if I use certain cables odin will not work. I have to use the cable that came with my phone.
Google Galaxy s USB drivers and install those.
And your phone is only bricked if nothing ever comes on. So your still golden. Just use the volume button download mode method and odin to stock.
IT'S WORKING. THank you!
The only problem now is that it's not recognizing my sim card...

Turn off the phone and pull out the sim card. Reinsert the sim card and reboot the phone. It should be recognized.
I just tried that a couple times and it's still not recognizing it.

OMG PANIC! Insert another sim and see if that works. If so, pull the battery for a minute and try again with your sim. If that doesn't work call T-Mo and confess that you broke it.

I'm trying to restore my phone to factory settings using (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475) but once again I've gotten the phone ! computer error. However, this time when I plug the phone into the computer to try to use Odin, it's no longer recognizing that a USB device has been plugged in.
I've been trying different combinations of battery pulls, plugging it in after the phone is on, plugging it in before it's on, etc. and nothing is working.
EDIT: Nevermind, I got it. Ignore me... it case it wasn't clear already, I'm a n00b and have no idea what I'm doing.

Have been on Gingerbread with HTC unlock.
Did 1 try of the Bear s-0ff, and it only booted to green Bear screen.
Did boot image install with PH98IMG in hboot, but it won't take
a recovery done with PH98IMG. Does not charge with any cable nor
does any computer see the phone. Fastboot does not go to fastboot-USB
on any other computer either. It will boot into the rom that was on it,
but not recovery.
Please suggest ideas to get USB to connect for charge or fastboot again.
Thanks.
Bump.
Similar problem here, although S-OFF, ICS leaked firmware, and Nils Business ICS 3.4 running fine. Phone charges from outlet, but cannot connect to PC, fastboot USB, charge mode or drive mode. Is it hardware?
If I try to connect and fail, then reboot, the connection dialogue comes up even if on the AC adapter, and if I then connect to PC, I get pulsing "USB Device Not Recognized" messages, but the "drives" don't connect (and the drivers *are* properly installed.)
For what it's worth, I *can* access the cards (internal and external) in Amon Ra 3.15; I *can* run a Nandroid and a restore. I can even run adb via wifi, I just can't connect to PC. However, after trying to do so, then rebooting, the handset things it's connected if I'm plugged into AC.
Really bizarre.
I'm having this issue at home on my windows 7 pc, but at work, on my windows XP machine, it has no problem recognizing the device. At home it just says "Unable to recognize device". I tried using widgetsoid, but that didn't work either.
Don't know about anyone else, but for me, at least, it appears to be a hardware problem. Rolled back to stock 2.01 RUU and still unable to connect, and unit thinks it's connected when it's not. Rolled back forward and will learn to deal with it or return for warranty claim.
Dumped down the innertubes from my Rezound.

Yup. Con was helping me out, too, behind the scenes. (Dude is amazing).
Please let me know what happens. I know how to roll back to stock and get the hboot to even say LOCKED without TAMPERED, even though it says S-OFF. I'm just looking for a time frame when I have time to restore everything from this unit to any replacement.....and s-off that unit, of course.
Have you checked that it's not the computer causing the problem. I have 2 Windows 7 laptops and 1 would not recognize my phone even though I installed the same HTC drivers on both. Eventually I got it resolved by reinstalling the entire HTC Sync package with the drivers from that, then removing the sync program.

Thanks, but I've tried with 3 different PC's, 3 different USB cables, 3 different SD cards, and 3 different RUU's. On all 3, the Rezound fails to connect, and then, on reboot, even if it's FIRST REBOOT AFTER RUU, it boots up thinking it's already connected to PC offering me "charge" or "drive mode." If I select drive mode, it dismounts internal and external sdcard, and won't remount them once I disconnect without reboot. If I select charge, then pull the cable, it reminds me to connect, but at least realizes it's *not* connected.
And fastboot usb not obtainable under hboots 2.11, 2.21, 2.25 and Juopunut's ICS hboot.
So, that's why I"m pretty sure it's a hardware issue at this point.
Hello,
I have a very big problem with my Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300.
The problem started when my battery ran down very very fast. I can use my phone for no longer than maybe 6 hours, and that is in stand by. If I want to charge my phone till it's completely full it might take two days on the charger as well, even when my phone is off. I tried to reset my phone to factory defaults, but that didn't fix the problem. I even bought a new battery, hoping that would solve the problem, but even no luck with that. The phone also becomes hot in the bottom. Now I wanted to bring it back to the store for warrenty but there lies the next problem, my phone is rooted.
I know it is possible to unroot the phone, and it's nog too hard to do. But every time I connect my phone with USB to my computer, my computer doesn't recognize it. I get the next error message "USB device not recognized". I tried different cables, I tried on an other computer, but still I get the same error. I also tried the S3 of a friend on my computer and with his phone I do get a connection. So I know there is nothing wrong with the drivers on my computer or something like that. There must be something wrong with my phone.
Now the problems won't stop here because there is even a third problem. Like I said before I have rooted my phone, but I can't use SuperUser. When I start SuperUser it says "The SU Binary needs to be updated. Continue?". Then when I press continue I get the message "Installation failed !". I can't use CWM as well. I wanted to use Triangle Away before bringing it back for warrenty, but I can't use it because I can't use SuperUser.
If some one would have an idea to unroot my phone without using USB so I can bring it in for warrenty. Or find a way to get my USB port running again, I think that would fix my problems.
I spend a few hours trying to fix these problems, but now I've come to a point I don't know what to do anymore, I hope anyone of you is willing to help me. I'll be for ever gratefull.

Hi.
If i was you, i would try to install a official version, using Odin.
Also, my advice is not to use the original charger, Even chinese have better one´s...
Did you install Kies and drivers on your PC? Check that too.
Consider install leaked 4.2.2 version of Rom, since it uses Odin to do it.
I hope i gave at least some clues....

Thanks for your reply,
I forgot to mention that I have the official ROM installed, I only rooted it. But even if I would want to install a new ROM, my computer doesn't recognize my phone throug USB. So I can't install a ROM using Odin unless my USB port is running again.
I tried several chargers already, I don't think the problem lies in the charger because the battery drains very fast when it's of the charger.
I did install Kies and drivers, I even uninstalled them and reinstalled them again a couple of times. I even tried it on different computers. And the Galaxy S3 of a friend of mine does make a connection. So I don't think the problem lies there.

In setup did you check optinos like USB debugging?
At this moment im out of options....maybe a poweruser can help you better:highfive:

What exactly do you mean with hard reset? If you mean powering on with home button and volume up button pushed, and then select "wipe data/factory reset". Then yes, I tried that.
In setup I did check USB debugging. The thing is, when I power on with home button and volume down button, I enter download mode. But even in download mode my computer does not recognize my phone. I'm not sure, but I think the computer should.
I'm really stuck here :crying:
So i have a motorola razr xt910 and i was running the jellywiz rom before this thing happened. So what i did was, boot into bmm recovery, restored cid, did a full wipe and immediately tried to flash the mokee rom. When it was done, i rebooted and got a FASTBOOT FLASH FAILURE. Later, i tried to use RSD lite to fastboot it back to europe ics but the com did not detect the phone. I tried lots of stuff
1. Tried another pc
2. Reinstalling the drivers
3. Tried different cables even the motorola OEM one
4. Spent money to replace the micro usb port on my phone
5. Factory resetting my phone a few times
6. I tried with my friend's razr on a pc with all the appropriate drivers, the pc could detect my friend's phone but not mine
But all of them did'nt work, it is still stuck in fastboot flash failure for 3 weeks now. Any solutions? Thanks in advance

I had a very similar problem- the proper cable was necessary for my computer to recognize the phone. I uninstalled all of my USB drivers, and let windows reinstall them. This has helped with my SGS3 for recognizing the device. I used RSD 5.7, and having adequate power is imperative.
EDIT
When I say I reinstalled the drivers, I don't mean the Moto drivers. I uninstalled my USB device drivers in Control Panel> Device Manager, and then I reinstalled the motorola device manager, which reinstalled the motorola drivers. However, if your computer doesn't even recognize an unknown USB device connected, then it sounds like either A) a USB cable issue, or B) a USB A port issue.

Sorry for the late reply and thanks for trying to help. Okay so I tried what you said, I uninstalled the USB device drivers and let windows reinstall them rebooted my pc then reinstalled motorola device manager. When i plugged in my phone, the pc still did not detect it although i was using a motorola oem cable fresh from the box. It is definitely not a USB port issue as I tried pluggin in my mouse and omy thumbdrive into the other ports and it could detect them and install the drivers. So any solutions? I'm starting to miss her.

I have access to the fastboot menu all the options available and the battery is OK. Its just that when i plug it in to the pc it does not detect the phone.
Will the PC recognize the phone under any of the other boot options? (BP Tools, diag, BP SBF flash, Recovery, etc.) When I got to the point where my power source was adequate, and all I had trouble with was PC-Phone recognition, I purchased an OEM Moto charger from Verizon with a cable that said "factory data" on it. I wish I could be of more help, but that was the last step to fix my problem. It recognized immediately, and I successfully flashed. It sounds like you've covered all your bases on the PC end. Let us know if you find a solution!

Thanks for your concern. The pc did not detect the phone in an of the other options so the last resort is using that cable. Is it the same as the factory cable, can i make one myself cause i have a soldering iron at home. Or ordering one online would be better?
I would say go ahead and make one. Just beware, a lot of USB cables (most) have either rubber or hot glue molded around, so it is difficult to expose the contacts on the Micro B connection. There is a great tutorial by MotoCache1, located HERE, that will give you the rundown. It's worth a shot. My only concern is that the idea of the factory data cable is to trick the phone into thinking there is a good power source (without a battery/dead battery). I would think that finding the right USB cable would effectively solve your problem, but go for it, and let us know how it works. You can order the cable (if TeamBlackHat has them... or you can find one sold out of Cali on Ebay, I've heard), and that may be the ticket. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip. I will give it a shot when I have the time. However I was wondering why my phone would run into such a problem. Before that when i flashed roms and soft bricked it, i could still recover it using rsd lite and fastboot files. Secondly, my usb cable was woking fine until just before i landed into this mess. The phone could not be detected by the pc in usb storage mode so i resorted to using google drive instead of actually solving the problem.
By the way, could i have the model number of the motorola oem factory data cable you bought. I dont live in the US so i may need to buy it from another shop. Thanks!
You may very well have a hardware problem, if you were having connection problems before the fastboot errors. Could be the contacts on the micro female in your phone. It sounds like you definitely have a data transfer problem if you couldn't mount for mass storage.
The only number I could locate is SKN6430A.

Appropriate USB cable, unfortunately. Motorolas are very picky. Even if you weren't having problems with a particular cable before, like me (fastboot flash would start, but not finish, first time I encountered a problem), the right cable solved my it. OEM Motorola data cable.

I'm certain they can diagnose the problem, though I couldn't say for certain what the cost would be. You may have better luck purchasing a used phone on eBay. Hey I Know You Said You Already Tried Using A Different Computer But Were They Different Operating Systems? I Had A Similar Problem RSDlite Wouldn't Recognize My Phone On Windows 8 But Connected Just Fine On Windows 7.
fastboot not detected
while the PC recognize the phone under any of the other boot options BP, Tools, diag (here the phone goes black), BP SBF flash, Recovery, why the fastboot is not recognized? im on a xt910, i have no system.. and i remember that previosly, he wasnt able to be recognized even as an mass storage... so weird.. then i messed up, and i cant do nothing because all the do able thing is via fastboot.. is there any chance to do something via recovery stock without getting operation aborted?.. oh, another hint, i mess a little with the entry of the female usb on the xt910, and now i have an "unknown device" maybe is broken.. and if i disarm it, and i cut a cable, and green and white should be data, maybe ill be able to flash something via rsd.. damn is so weird that the bp is recognized in rsd but fasboot not.. and i cant buy nothing, i just have a knife, two cables(i cutted one to put the negative positive directly to the battery) and wi fi. thanks in advances, and yes i know that is an old thread, but i dont know what else to do. /And sorry for my english, i dont speak it.

Not unless you are already rooted. Does the PC not recognize that you have plugged it in at all or does it just not load the drivers correctly? Best way to tell is to open your Device Manager and plug in the phone. the DM should reload and show something, whether an error or not. If it does not blink out and reload when you plug / unplug the phone, then it's either a hardware issue with the phone's USB port, a bad cable, or bad USB port on PC. And it is possible for a phone to charge correctly, but have issues connecting to a computer if the data pins are messed up. If it IS the phone's port, the repair isn't that bad and could be handle with some patience and simple tools as this one does not involve soldering. You'd need this:

You won't find a better guide than that, that guy is amazing at teardowns.

Dude really thankful,
As you say, the PC dosn't recognize that the phone is plugged at all, I try all the usb port on my laptop, different cable, and even different laptop and the same problem keep comming up.
I tried also to reboot in odin mode to see if my laptop detecet anything, but nada, nothing in the DM.
Also, like you expect, it can charge but no data connection, and whene it turned off and I plug it it automaticly turned on by itself.
I pretty convinced that it usb port is screwed.
So, to install a rom my phone have to be rooted!! no way to root it from the recovery mode?!
Thanks again

You can try to clean your USB port of the phone with some compressed air, in case some pocket lint got in there too. Doesn't take much to mess these things up, unfortunately. But yea, I doubt there is a way to root it in the stock recovery as most Samsung phones don't have this option. It'd take less time to just fix it probably then figuring out how to jump through all the other hoops to find a way around it.
