So that top piece of the device that you remove to get to the screws (above the notification LED) recently broke off. It looks kinda stupid and annoying not having one. Does anyone know where i can buy a specific part like that?

If it's the same as the DX, I have an old one laying around, I can pop that piece off for you.
(At work right now, so can't check the fit)

I feel like if I use any more force I'm going to break it or something!
Any suggestions ?
Are you pushing up thumb under the camera lenses one side and same place on the right, mine comes off fairly easily ....

Males sureto depress the middle close to the aluminium body then press up.

I agree, it is a bit like there is a child lock - like medicine bottle lid. HTC could have done better there. Even staff at a CPW struggled to take the little cover off.
It will come off, but if you are not too sure, and you bought from a store near you, go back there and let them show you how to open it so that it does not break in your hands. Just a thought.
Seems to losen up after being removed twice.

The trick is to press down (inwards) then up. Quite easy if you do that.
Really wow come on this is the last thing one should worried about with this bad ass device. It's not hard at all.

I can confirm that mine was a real pain in the butt. it was the point to where i feared breaking the thing so i gave up. then when my sd card came in the next day i gave it a go and it came off without much trouble. cant say if it was a slightly different technique or if it loosened up after being played with for a day.
Just curious about what the hole on the left side of the phone is for? I never really thought about it..
I would ASSUME its for the signal, but i honestly don't know...
anyone know?
i noticed em too when i first got the phone i thought it was a camera but i think it might be the light sensor or maybe gps of some sort? gps says it needs an outdoor view, so maybe it uses that? id like to know too as im curious about it

that hole is used for a Lanyard Strap. Take off the cover and you can see light through it. that is where the loop can be placed through.

Hey,
I know there is a similar thread to this but I just can't find it. Sorry guys.
Well let me tell the problem. After removing the backcover a few times I find that the backcover started to make squish sounds. Sounds come off from somewhere in middle of right side between volume and video button. It is clear that something has broken but can't figure out what. Issue seems to come from the backcover scratching the bezel. This makes me for the first time think about letting my amaze go. Tell me what you think please.
Cheers
I have that same noise..its frustrating..i just got this phone not longer than 3 weeks..

Looked more into it and yes it's coming from the bezel and the back cover. Very frustrating ..we need a solution ......apart from getting a new phone

Just put some tape and the noise will be gone
This issue was already stated. Have you done a search? There is a quick solution, but for me it went away after some time.

Fold a thin piece of paper and place it on top of battery. Then pop back cover on. Problem solved.

Try This:
Take out the phone from the battery cover, Now push the white locking tab inwards while putting the battery cover back on, it makes a huge difference for me.
Hope the same for you, let me know if it helped.

I thinly cut up some command strips (only peeled off one side) and put them on the back cover near the spots the noise was coming from. Took 7 but it feels much more solid now and no noise.

Man this phone is awesome bit it has so many issues
1. Capacitive buttons lights leak to the screen
2. Camera flash also bleeds into pictures
3. A dead pixel
4. The backcover noise
5. Lack of full support from htc
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
Don't know how valid this is because I use a tight case. But someone said to put it in a cold place, like a garage or outside or even the refrigerator. His argument was that the case would shrink and while small you could fit it back on.

If you take the back cover off and you look on the back just to the top left corner of the battery there is a small spring loaded contact. If you look at the corresponding area inside of the back cover you will see a small mark on the aluminum where it is rubbing (on the inside about half way down from the bottom of the volume rocker and the top of the camcorder button).
It seems like too much of a coincidence that there is a spring loaded bearing in the exact area causing the squeaking and that not be part of the issue.
Does anyone know if that is an electrical contact like some of the other ones on the top half of the phone?

Pretty sure they are the contacts for the phone antenna. The manual warns that the phone antenna are built into the back cover and to make sure that the cover is on tightly to receive proper phone and data signal. Might want to be careful of these with paper or command strips when making the cover fit!

1,4,5 are the biggest problems. Think this is the last HTC phone I'm going to buy ...so what's next?
Samsung ...no way ..cheap plastic phones
LG - same as above but with some extra crap
Moto - seems like a good choice but limited support as well
Sony - are they ever going to release a high end phone?

Do you plan on placing your device face down on its beautiful glass ??
D.
In case you have kept it face down in a meeting on silent ... so just a led helps
I guess they were thinking on same lines, however, I really wanted a bigger led on front !
Is it just me, or does anyone else find the rear led impossible to see unless you're directly over it?
Shows up iPhone users who don't even have a single LED on the front. Take that, I have two one on the front AND one on the back. The LED is one of the reasons I got rid of my iPhone 5.
I agree, the front led is a joke. No reason to have the FRONT led smaller then the rear...

Well ya you know you have a SMS because the light is blinking otherwise I would have to pick the phone up and look at it. On the iPhone thats the only way you know if you have a message. Say I go to the restroom and get a SMS on the iPhone I have to pick it up and look at it on Android the light will be blinking. Its the little things.

Yea, but iPhone has been the best phone experience when it comes to best put together package with smoothness and stuff until the Nexus 4 came to be (of course in my opinion)...I considered getting a iPhone, but decided i'd have more fun with an Android device.
I don't like that LED, but the otterbox case I got covers it up nicely. Makes it easier to grip too!
The rear led is a good idea but poorly executed IMO. Could have been made more noticable.
Sent from my SuperCharged DNA
All they would have to do is incorporate a lens in a case that would magnify the front and back led.. figure with all the cases someone would have , should have done it by now.. I've experimented with it and its possible
I completely forgot it was there.... My case blocks it so I see no use

I find it to be quite helpful. Its not like your going to drag your phone on the front and most people will likely have screen protectors and a case.
To be notified that notifications need to notify you of texts and mail... as you admire the beautiful back of your awesome phone.
But really though, the back LED's probably for people who either use a belt clip or place the phone face down during meetings and such.

It's small but I find it more than bright enough. Especially when I'm playing games or watching a video and I get a message that I don't want to get out of to clear, the blinking is annoying already. Would hate for it to be worse.
I like the fact of the back led because I always keep my phone screen down so people can't look at the phone if the screen was on. But my otterbox covers it up so I'm debating drilling a hole where it is.

Within having this phone about 5days I tripped over the charger and my phone flipped over, upon picking it up I didn't notice it at first but there is a small I wouldn't say Crack, but it's like a slit going from the middle of the Verizon logo, down to the right of the phone. It's about one inch.. When looking at my phone It is not noticeable unless I slant it. Now I'm thinking about getting a new screen and this time a case.. I just would like help finding the right scren for this phone. I only need the plastic front screen. Unless I will need a whole new digitizer set. Sigh..

if i remember correctly you'll need to get the set - i believe the screen is glued to the digitizer and is nearly impossible to remove.
