Hello
I was looking for some experienced first hand feedback to see if others have tried these 3 apps and what their findings have been.
Also, I believe some dev's have noticed that our phone, the amaze, won't go into a deep sleep mode on its own and thus accelerating the battery drain, that is how I came across DS battery saver.
Anyway, if anyone has tried all 3 of these apps alone or in combination, please share your feedback as well as the settings you chose to improve your battery life.
Thanks for any and all feedback.

i've tried the first two, JD and one power guard . I prefer JD much better, and It made my battery last twice as long!
And how you can determine if the phone goes into deep sleep or not?
I've tried all three,
Ds power saver didn't really work for me, still shows awake with it enabled
One power guard was pretty good, saving about an hour of power
Jd has to be the best, one time it almost doubled my battery

I am not sure how to tell if your phone goes into deep sleep or not but just read this in a CM10 bugs thread I believe when talking about battery drain still being a problem. Thanks for feedback on JD. I have ultimate but have some issues with it, one being hassle as wi fi doesn't reconnect on its own after unlocking phone and I always have to go and manually re enable wifi.
You can check deep sleep by going to settings and battery/power and click on the graph, under neath it you can see awake times and screen in time etc. If screen time aligns with awake you are okay, but if it's awake with the screen of, its not going into deepsleep

Thanks for this, didn't know I could check this here.
For me, using both juice defender ultimate and DS battery saver, there is a lot more blue color for "awake" than for "screen on".
I suppose this means the phone is awake even when the screen is off?
I guess this also tells me then that DS batt saver is not putting phone into deep sleep when screen is off?
Any suggestions on how to fix?
Thanks

juice defender is easier to use and set while OPG requires knowledge to set up. Though many says that JD is better, i had test both of them and realize OPG, aside that it is free, also have advantages against JD.

I have read a lot of threads regarding battery life.. But I really don't care having 2 days with 3 or 4 hrs of screen time.
My deep sleep is actually very good 96%-97% in 8 hours... But I want to know what to do to minimize the battery USING the phone while browsing.. Screen brightness I always have it a lowest possible.. Also have it UV a bit, using LiLRom 1.5.1 with entropy 3/5 right now is dropping like 1% in 3-4min... Is there anything else I can do to increase the time for lets say around 6-8min ? I guess 10min/1% will be impossible..
80% of the power usage is due to the screen. That's the price we pay for amoled.
Disabling "Use Wireless Networks" under Location and Security in Settings helps.
That will stop the apps that you are using from unnecessarily polling your location. For example, I've seen Facebook turn on GPS every time I access it even when all I am doing is checking my Wall. Turning off above mentioned option prevents this.

If your browsing the forums, you need to use the black theme in Tapatalk (xda premium). Black is our friend for battery. Could also drop your CPU/GPU clock down 1 step, but the screen will be #1.

Yeah I have read your thread and is a very nice one but the problem on that thread is that it became some sort of competition of which combo rom/kernel have the better battery for a period of days.. And not squezing the most of screen ON but using the phone. I did some test a few months ago, and if only the screen is ON but without touching the phone it will get nice times. But once you start touching the phone is when the power consumption is bumped.
But will be nice to see a guide with some values to mess with freq,mv,etc.. to get a balanced consumption between usage and performance..

I am trying to crowd-source what people do to get good battery over here in an xda thread. If you add your settings to that form (after jumping to that post), it may help telling you and others as to what settings help towards and against good battery life.
Recently i've had some issues with my galaxy s2. I'm leaving it at night with wi-fi on cos i forget (but i'm sure i've forgotten it on before).
I left it at about 50% and it got drained to 0% by the morning.
Usually it only drains 3-4% if on standby at night.
I'm running gingerbread 2.3,6 XWKK5 kernel.
Betterbatterystats says:
-Wifi on for 15 hrs 21mins
-Awake for 9hrs 22mins
-Screen on 22mins
There are no weird partial wakelocks.
All i see is the phone that keeps waking itself up during the night...
Has anyone experienced this?
I find it really weird that there's nothing in better battery stats partial wakelocks that can explain this weird behaviour. ANyone have a clue?
There were probably some apps in background. you'd better to shut down wifi always
wifi shouldn't do that
have a good look under bbs, something should of been on that kept the phone awake and trust me its not the wifi...
awake for 9 hours... doing what exactly???
whats ur first battery sucker that u complain of ?
Another way to look into this is by using juice defender.
It's a battery saving app that shuts down wifi and data connection while your screen is off and believe me it does save a lot of the battery this way.
By using this you can tell for sure whether it's actually your wifi that is casing the battery drain.
Wifi always on or always searching has been posted as a battery drain countless time .
WiFi set off when screen off .

sometimes that leads to a bad app asking for a sync/push more often with no data available causing even more wakelocks, but in general yes disabling data in the android settings gives big batt boost in life with less usability from the phone... then u'll have to get used to enable/disable every time u need to use data

My battery conditions is also very poor.It lasts for only 5 hours when I have turned off auto sync,internt,wifi,bluetooth,3g,lowest brightness.I played these fr 1 hour and 20 min phone call.Pathetic condition. Also the battery get heated up a lot..I am goin to try out the doubling the battery trick told ages ago in xda. if it fails,I am going to the service center,
Any one got better advices?
from Engadget
'As for the battery, with a 1,650mAh cell under the hood, and some potential savings to be made from the smaller screen, it managed a reasonable six hours and 33 minutes in our standard video rundown test (WiFi on, but not connected, and brightness fixed at 50 percent). In real-world use, we'd get well into the following day before we'd start getting nervous about finding a power point. If you're the sort that switches off overnight, then it might even last a full two days with moderate use.'
It's pretty strange. Without any WiFi or data activated, I get juice upto one and half a day max. With music gaming texting and taking few pictures.
I wonder how reviews stated the battery is good compared to other HTC devices.

Look at mine. Sometimes 59% and sometimes its 70+%!!! I'm confused. I'm using apex launcher pro with only only 3 homescreens and widgets. Frozen sense. I also set the brightness really low.

I found the light sensor really useful - it's keeping the brightness low when the setting is on auto plus because of the proximity sensor while I'm talking the screen is off. I saw it just once spending 25% of energy after heavy gaming. I have setcpu installed which is helping the battery life while I'm not playing. See my current stats
btw I'm using this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35436322&postcount=17 if that matters.

Our screen is not that small - how many hours your screen was on during this 70% drain? Mine was around 3 hours within last discharge cycle. My point is that if you have your screen on 5-6+ hours/day 70% drain could be reasonable its 4" screen with 1,650 mAh battery anyway...

Most of the time I have SetCPU configured with 245MHz min - 600MHz max - when I'm expecting more performance e.g. when I'll play a heavy game or something I'm changing the max frequency to 1008 MHz. The JuiceDefender is configured to enable the WiFi every 5 mins while the phone is locked, and to stop all connections (including the mobile network) at night. Also I found that NOT using an auto-task killer the phone is acting faster and consuming less juice.
BTW whats the difference between the stock auto brightness and this Velis application?

I am facing battery problem in xperia P. Xperia drains my fone's battery very fast (on average 10 hours if my usage is sending text mesage no wifi no BT no internet no call.) Is is normal?. I got a suggestion from SONY support that I should repair my phone. Now I have 2 questions? from which software should I repair my fone and last question: What will happen in case of power failure, network error or disconnection from PC? my fone is not rooted? Response will be appriciated. thanks.
Xperia P battery backup
i am also faceing the same issue. i installed latest FW ,75 it was very good innitially but after couple of weeks the battery backup got hit big time. i re-installed the FW 4 times (2 times with SUS and 2 times with PCC) with full format. OS and screen drains most of the battery with low screen-on time.
i have not rooted/modified any thing on the phone. pure sony stock.
Need Help.......
Guys. Is this your first smartphone? Wifi is switched on whole the time. This is completely normal. Battery graph looks stable. You can't expect more than this. For better battery, use cm9. Rooting is fun dude.
I used to get around 20 hrs of backup before I updated FW (with wifi on all the time).
I haven't installed any new app or changed the way I use my phone.
I am just comparing battery backup between two FWs.

You're battery cycle is stable. Sony isn't really big with battery life. I was averaging about 20 hours before I rooted my phone. With root, I can squeeze about more or less 25 hours on average use - internet, messaging, phone calls, very light bit of gaming.
Turn off Wifi, Auto Sync, Bluetooth, GPS if you are not using it.
Do not use Auto Brightness.
Lessen screen timeout.
Don't use too many widgets.
Turn on Extended Standby Mode.
Don't fiddle around with your phone too much.
If all else fails, root your phone to install governors.

To be honest I cant understand your problems with battery drain, maybe you just use the phone really hard, but with me Auto Brightness - Bright Mode and Extended Standby mode is fine... I don't believe in being conservative so i never disable anything, other than nfc and bluetooth which arent useful to me . The Xperia P has battery calibration issues though, sometimes i see my battery jump up like 5 percent, sometimes when i restart the phone by holding the power button and vol up i get 10 percent. But the battery really isnt that bad... If i leave my house with about 80 percent, im left with battery by the time i get home even if im out all day long. Maybe you guys should try not to use live wallpapers, they drain a lot. App killers, they're not needed and they can drain. I wont say dont use bright colourful wallpapers but be aware they use more battery, and any apps with a bright white theme uses more battery so if there is a darker option, try to go with that

Maybe you guys should try not to use live wallpapers, they drain a lot. App killers, they're not needed and they can drain. I wont say dont use bright colourful wallpapers but be aware they use more battery, and any apps with a bright white theme uses more battery so if there is a darker option, try to go with that

It's a screen technology different from LCD, it uses LED lights to create colours, like a lot of the modern tv's do, but it's not nice in mobiles imo, it's what Samsung use

Just use a custom kernel like ThP or SlidingXP. Also a custom rom would increase your battery life

The guy doesn't even want to root...:silly:
Let alone unlock BL.
Why this amoled technology is not good for mobile fones. I think it's a new technology and should works well.
In 2 hours, I have lost 29% battery life. I'm pretty sure this can't be normal, especially with 1+hours of Deep Sleep.
http://www.mediafire.com/view/?2panq9fohk2atfe here is the "Better Battery Stats" for those 2 hours.
Thanks for any info
If it matters, I'm running CarbonRom.

If you were to post this over at the BBS thread, they would tell you a few things right off the bat:
1. the facebook app is a battery killer. I'd start by freezing it (if you need facebook functionality there are more battery friendly apps for it)
2. Looks like you are doing a lot of syncing. turn it all off.
3. Enable root features in bbs since you're rooted (lets you get more info that may become relevant).
4. You need more idle time. plug in and unplug your phone to create an unplugged reference, then leave it be for a few hours.
The AudioOut_2 wakelock is an interesting one, especially since it's high on your list. In my case it showed up when I tried poweramp and it seemed to be related to the auto-start-when-headphones-plugged-in option, so if you use poweramp check that option. Others seem to get it from viber. If you have that, remove or freeze it.
So, give the above a try, and check a new dump. This will probably give you more stuff to look into. If you find a problematic app you can then determine whether it can be fixed by changing its settings, greenified, disabling its autostarts, or if you just need to avoid it.

From what I see you have had no, or only one bar of signal? If so, you may want to use Airplane Mode. You can use Airplane mode and still use Wi-Fi.
Have you been around Wi-Fi? If you aren't around Wi-Fi, turn it off.
NFC. Is it on? Do you use it? If not.. Turn off.
If your battery level shows inconsistency, you might want to calibrate your battery.
I hope i helped, im not quite sure why you loose 11% every hour, while mostly in deep sleep. Go to performance control and use some tweaks for your kernel.

The low signal shouldn't have any affect on the battery of the G, when I was on aosp I used houcha's kernel an I got great battery life around 23 hours with 5 hours of screen on and was at 22%, with set CPU profiles engaged and no kernel tweaks from any app. And I live in an area that primarily has 0-2 bars of service at home and full lte when I work I leave everything on, all radios and data sync. Now that being said for some reason the development is moving towards synergies kernel, and it doesn't have nearly the battery life that houcha's gets

The AudioOut_2 wakelock can be caused by corrupted Mp3 files on your SD card. It was wreaking havoc in our SGS4G community and the fix for us was always to use MP3val to scan and fix those files. It cleared the AudioOut_2 wakelock right up. I know these are totally different phones but hey its worth a shot. http://mp3val.sourceforge.net

Low signal does in fact drain your battery. When you have zero to one or two bars, your phone is searching for signal, It causes the phone to increase power to the antenna, to get signal.

I understand the premise that low signal causes mor power to be drained, my point was that it doesn't cause 29% on this phone that's not even close to possible

Also if u are rooted u can download greenify from apps store helps with battery drain by putting apps in hibernation that normally wont go there like facebook and maps..... Etc
