First, visit the SamMobile firmware page and look for the stock ICS ROM for your phone. Since it is country specific, make sure you select your own country. Then download the file and flash the TAR file via ODIN.

Hey there everyone.
First of all, thanks for taking the time to help me with my minor issue.
Recently i used Check Fus and Odin 3 v1.85 to restore my GT-i9100 to stock.
This worked appart from a minor issue i am having with Samsung Kies 2.0
In my phone, my kernel version returned to [email protected]#2 (what is was before i rooted)
The baseband version is:I9100BOKD1
But the problem is, when i connect to KIES and i look at the firmware tab, it is showing complications.
This is what it says:
This device can not be updated.
Firmware Version: PDA: KE3 PHONE: KD1 CSC: KE3(kor)
Did i do something wrong?
Kies only updates if their is a later version on the server for your product code .

this is what i entered in Check Fus:

(Or am i because of my limited experience, seeing a problem where there is none? )

KE7 latest for that info .
Not on Kies well probably due to no longer having the firmware the phone came with and codes match nothing on Kies server .
Kies updates original firmware . Stock firmware upgrade from Kies Never happened for me and as far as i am aware its not meant to . But some say it will .

You used wrong product code. It should be GT-I9100LKATNL and that is the latest firmware for that region.

I just bought the S2 White, and it's on 2.3.3.
I tried to update the software from phone, but it says, "No new updates".
I connected the phone to KIES (Windows 7 Home Premium x64),
& it says, "GT-I9100 does not support firmware upgrade."
PDA: KE7
PHONE: KE4
CSC: KD1(H3G)
Can someone help me please to update it ???
(I don't understand why KIES says that my phone does not support firmware upgrade :S)
Maybe it has been flashed an unsupported version firmware.
Anyway you can upgrade to any firmware you want throught odin.

It says it cannot be updated because your firmware is mixed for some reason, latest H3G is:-

I had a similar problem. Then updated Kies and it said that it's not possible to update my firmware!
I went to the thread with the stock firmwares. Chose the current UK 2.3.4 firmware and flashed via Odin. Totally painless and very straightforward. Then checked on my phone for software updates, non available and checked via Kies and says my firmware is up to date.
This seems to have corrected the problem.
People still use Kies?

Just looked through the guides for doing this and I can only seem to see stuff for Vodafone, 3, O2 etc. I've got an unlocked S2 that I think is running out of date software and thought I would try updating manually as Kies is telling me my phone does not support updates lol. Mine is running:

So is my software out of date and if so how can I update it please?

OK so I have found the custom ROM for my S2 but what is the point of putting the same one back on there that is already running? The question I had was 'what is the latest version and how do I install that?'
The reason for all this by the way is that I am sick of the poor battery life of the phone and have been told that the latest version of the software improves it but unfortunately Kies seems to think that my phone is not able to be upgraded!

Your versions are valid XWKF3 XEU, and it should update to:-
PDA: I9100XWKI4
PHONE: I9100XXKI1
CSC: I9100XEUKH2
If Kies says it cannot be updated your product code is probably wrong.
Hello,
Kies give me the same message "GT-I9100 does not support firmware upgrade."
and shows these versions on my S2,

It shows the same as the latest firmware versions just below.
Does anyone know when these above versions were released ?

I always use Odin to flash firmwares, but on one occasion I used Kies
but that takes too long

You don't need to know what firmware it is to root it. Just follow the stickies in the development section by flashing recovery with odin, then a rooted rom.
Also make sure your phone model number is GT-I9300. If it's not, you don't have the international version.
You can use Chainfire's CF-root, regardless of the firmware version,

Connect to the Keis, then check your firmware version,
see the code given after the CSC in the bracket is your region,
eg: PDA:LE9 / PHONE:LE8 / CSC:LE9 (XSG)
XSG is the code for UAE,
I think you have purchased the phone from an unautharized dealer, normally the phones (SGS3) shipped in the Middle East are with the above mentioned version as my phone has got.

Maybe you have to change the CSC code by typing *#272*Device IMEI#
but be attention it will do factory reset

Please dial *#1234# and post the exact result. You could also use Check Fus just to see what it suggests your latest firmware should be.

Which country did you get your S3 from? Or which carrier? Some country/carrier might not providing the update yet. Check this list to see whether your S3 suppose to be getting the update or not.

You have the latest firmware for YOUR phone you wait for your provider to update .
That is the official update .
Alternative .
If you want to update then you flash a stock rom for your region from sammobile or samsung-updates or xda stock rom thread .
If your region has not been updated then flash any stock rom and test .
Your baseband shows as Gulf Countries origin see faqs and guides .

PDA: MF6 / PHONE: MA5 / CSC: MF1 (AFG)
It means my phone is for Afghnistan region, i am stuck, i think i will never get an update if this phone belongs from there....

Please read JJEgan post above you! You can flash and test other stock roms from different regions with odin (you do not need to be rooted to do this) But if you want to do a full backup (nandroid) of your current rom then you need to be rooted, if you just want to save pictures/music just copy them to pc and flash via odin >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help/guide-odin-flash-guide-t1671969 <<

If you can't upgrade through kies, ODIN will be your only choice, and you dont need to root your phone for that.
