did you check the network mode (GSM / WCDMA) settings?
yes that's already checked
So...with only WCDMA you get no network right?
I guess you could flash another Modem, can't hurt.

I‘ve got an Atrix 4G a few days ago. but have a serious problem now.
i have bought the unlock code and the code was accepted.
after i insert an GSM card, the signal status bar shows a big forbidden sign just like "NO PARKING".it works like a MP4 right now, cannot make any calls.
i have changed for more than 5 GSM cards.but still no signal.
anyone who knows what should i do now? thanks!
Have you tried manually searching for an operator and logging into its network under mobile network settings? (you can switch back to automatic afterwards).
There could be a frequency mismatch, but on the one hand this bad by is quadband gsm and triband 3g, and on the other hand that woul dbe something you checked before you bought.. right?
Where do you live?
I have a similar problem. My reception goes on and off a lot and sometimes a reboot works, sometimes it doesn't. I have real bad reception at places where my old phone (an x10mini) had very good reception. The wierd thing is that when I have reception it's 4-5 bars, and then it drops to 0, I live in Sweden and have Tele2 as my carrier.
Qatar - Same issue
Hi all,
I'm having the same issue with my phone... no radio signal at all. My friend has an HTC android phone that has the same hardware antenna wise and band frequencies as the Atrix and his works fine... and my friend has an Atrix here unlocked and it works too...
Any thoughts?
I'm having the same problem... It worked yesterday when i unlocked... Since today, It can't find my carrier network... I hope it's not broken!!!
i had the same probleme weeks ago i reset all and i stay always in automatic research

I performed a Hard Reset... Still no lucky...
I searched for Networks. Then I tried that carrier's SIM, and it worked...
Wonder why mine isn't working on edge nor gsm as yesterday...
Just figured out that my phone is not working with edge, gsm... only with 3G...
The phone is Quadband... So... Wasn't it supposed to work with all frequencies??
Okay everyone. After alot of trial and error. I got my Samsung T-mobile vibrant working on AT&T. I'm running Whiskey Nextgen 2 Rom and everything seems to be working fine except signal strength. I've read about how the Vibrant only picks up 2 of the ATT signals or whatnot but I have NO signal inside the building where I work. My question is whether an AT&T radio can be flashed to the phone so that its basically an AT&T phone with decent signal. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah, you can flash a captivate radio.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Thanks Ali!
My girlfriend is using her vibrant on ATT without any issues. How good was the reception in the building before getting a vibrant?
T-Mobile Vibrant not working on 3G network from AT&T
Could you use 3G with AT&T network?, because I couldn´t, just Edge, which is very slow, any recomendations on this matter? I heard this device doesn´t support 850 mhz, is there any way to make it happen?

No 850mhz. You can get AT&T 3g in the areas they use 1900mhz though.

Well I had a Captivate but it was stolen from my home during a burglary some months back. I had left it home because it was one of those "shut off" models that would constantly shut down on it own and I was using my more dependable iphone 3gs while at work. That being said, I had 3 bars inside the building. With the Vibrant on the ATT network, I'm sitting at 0. Cannot connect to the market or anything. At home, the Vibrant signal is fine but I need a happy medium and I'm still recuperating from the break-in so I cant just go out and purchase a new ATT phone at this time.
The more I read about flashing radios though, the more concerned I am about doing so. I was under the impression that the radio had to match the kernal and my kernal version is 2.6.32.9 so I dont know if the cappy radio will match.
I have a International Galaxy S3 I9300 bought in India and i have come to US and have took a TMobile connection. Now the issue is that , im not getting 3g(h,h+) speeds all the time. I have set my device in Auto(GSM/WCDMA) . I have another guy under same roof using same Tmobile conn (Nexus 4) and he is getting 3g speeds and im not. Its showing as Edge('E') in my phone. I can confirm that the 3G is working at some places near my apartment so its not an activation issue or something. Does it has to do anything with the ROM/kerner . I have been using the Foxhound/Persus combo. Should i change the modem settings?
Try setting the Network Mode setting to WCDMA only (instead of auto). I am on AT&T, but was having same problem in certain areas and this fixed it.

Yes, i tried this, but the network goes blank. I'm sure im covered under a 3G area as the other guy is getting awesome speeds under the same roof. Was it because the other guy got his mobile in US(Nexus 4) and i got the international version that it could not read certain spectrum? Really confused.
Did you compare APN settings with other phone? Somewhere here there are probably APN settings that are optimized for T-Mobile. Or may find them on Google.
My gt-i9300 does the same

I'm on omega v35 and I have tmobile as well. it seems I get this edge all around were I live but then I'll go about a mile in any direction and I'll "all hspap??, 4g, 3g., all" I guess thats because of the towers mabey and the fact that I have the international as well. If any one knows why I would like to know as well.
After almost a year of inputting various *# and #* codes, I finally got my i717 to work on T-Mobile LTE (southside of greater Chicagoland).
This is on stock ATT JB rom and modem. On a good day I will get over 20Mbps down and 8-10Mbps up. epc.tmobile apn worked best at first, but after about a day or so, fast.tmobile apn setting did about the same. Service mode is set to Automatic and the setting in Device Info *#*#4636#*#* was set to LTE/GSM/WCDMA.
I thought all was fine until I would leave an LTE area and go into a normally (for me) 4g area
What is happening now is that I lose my LTE and go straight into EDGE. It is almost like my regular 4g is gone in areas where it used to be pretty good
Before LTE working, I was getting pretty good 4g (between 4-9Mbps down and about 1 up). This was using the same stock ATT JB rom, but with T-Mobile Blaze modem. Very seldom, like almost never, would I see EDGE. To get this I would have to go into service mode *#2263# and select WCDMA as my band preference.
If I try to use the Blaze modem, I cannot get the phone to stay in the LTE/GSM/WCDMA setting.
In a nutshell, why am I going to EDGE instead of 4g when I leave LTE?
If it matters, I am on the 5G / 100 minute $30 prepaid plan
TIA
Pretty common problem with the JB modem. You pull LTE or you pull E. For me, the best modem is UCMB4. It's an ICS modem, though, so I'm not sure how it'll work on jellybean. But you may give it a try. I pull the best speeds -- by far -- with it, and I pull consistent LTE. With the different ported modems I would have calls not go through sometimes -- weird -- and just "okay" speeds. With the ucmb4 I get solid all-around service.
I've gone from TMobile LTE to regular 4g on my mostly stock Note in Chicago. No AWS mod, no code messin, no nothin.
ATT modems will only work with tmobile refarmed 1900mhz areas. Your blaze modem is set to 1700mhz frequency band instead of 1900mhz. Thats why it works better.
Tmobile has a lot of dead areas on regular 4g with the LTE capable modem. But that's the tradeoff. Lte and refarmed 1900mhz band or just regular old 4g hspa.
no phone on Tmo 4g LTE in STL
Hey guys,
I've recently run into a problem with my unlocked i717 on TMO. It runs Android 4.1.2 (AT&T update flashed to the phone) but every since TMO rolled out their LTE in my area I get 4G LTE signals (1 or 2 bars mostly, but at times 3-4 bars) and I can send texts and data, but it cancels both incoming and outgoing phone calls.? What can I do to correct this? TMO's solution is to buy the N2 or wait til Nov for the N3. Any ideas?
Thanks...
Pete

Make sure your using the UCMD3 modem for JB. Then type *#2263# into dialer and try to set to automatic*.
Someone had this similiar problem the other day.

Thanks for all the comments. Glad to hear it is common problem and not just me going nuts.
I still like my i717, but seem to spend more and more time screwing around with it to get it to work right. Good excuse to get a Note 3 I guess

Not enough details for anyone to help yet.
Are you using it with ATT or is it unlocked and you are using another carrier and/or in another country?
Are there issues with signal strength with other phones on that network in your area?
For 3G/4G, have you checked the network settings to make sure it's not set to GSM only?
If it is set for HSPA/LTE, do you have the correct APNs?
Have you modified the software and/or changed the modem?
Has the phone ever been dropped, opened/worked on, and/or had liquid damage?
What update are you on?

The phone supports Jordan's network frequency of 2100, but it wouldn't surprise me if it is locked out of doing so without changing something in the Hidden Menu. I don't have a way to confirm that, but it's something they do with many of their phones. If you don't even have the option to switch to different network types, then that's why - probably only ATT's main network frequencies are enabled by default.

Thank you again, I have another phone of the same type and works great, I think that the problem is not in the Software I think it's Hardware
