[Q] XT910 VZW JB Leak -> Global Mode causes Radio to crash? - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hi! I first successfully flashed JB as per this guide. While sitting in the train I suddendly got a message asking me whether I would like to switch to global mode, because there was no signal available. Stupid as I was I answered yes. Nothing changed, and within a few seconds I was within range of the mobile network. In the evening my phone was a little slow. I figured a reboot would solve it. My phone booted, but gave me the following messages, every 2-3 seconds: "The process com.android.phone has stopped", "The process com.android.acore has stopped". 3G would not connect at all. I figured I could enable airplane mode and switch to GSM (PRL) mode in the *#*#4636#*#* menu to fix this. Alas, Airplane Mode did not work, and the Phone Settings menu in *#*#4636#*#* FC'd. I figured a data reset might help. It didn't. Same for cache. Then I flashed this radio, hoping this would solve the problem: radio03.1C.85P. It did not. After that I tried to flash ICS. It seemed to work, but after a few minutes (usually 1-2 minutes) the phone reboots. I can enable airplane mode, but the phone still reboots. When I put my phone in Sleep mode it will still reboot..
I got the phone charging again by flshing my cdt.img back. I also noted that when booting the screen goes black for 2-5 seconds before showing the Boot Animation. Is this related to the radio? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGfwNrrhN7k
TL;DR
I set Global Mode on a GSM Patched Verizon ROM and now my phone crashes on ICS/JB after approx 2 minutes. Fastbooting did not solve my problem .
EDIT: attached youtube video demonstrating the delay between "Dual Core" screen and Bootanimation. Sometimes this delay is about 20 seconds!

I reflashed the ICS Fastboot files for XT910 if that's what you're asking. While flashing the script (Fla****) said that it would flash the radio, so yes I did flash the radio.

not ICS. I was asking if we just reflash the JB LEAK ROM. Just like we do if something goes wrong in a normal ROM. My problem is, which Boot MEnu Manager do we pick?
Cause there is one that appears in a normal boot without or before BPTools and one that comes after selecting BPTools...

I can't root my phone, so I can't install a Boot Manager. Sometimes the phone doesn't even boot to ICS, so the rooting process fails most of the time. Until my failure of yesterday I have been using BMM 0.2.7. What have you been using? SS3 or BMM? I feel so stupid for NOT making a Nandroid of JB...
Edit: It seems that re-reflashing the Radio made the phone crash less often and bootloop less often. I have now rooted my phone and am crossing my fingers for it not rebooting while installing BMM 0.2.7...
Edit2: BMM is installed. I flashed the allow_mbmloader stuff and erased my cid again. I am now installen JB again...

JB works! No radio crash. So my solution was:
Reflash CID to the saved cid.img
Reflash Radio from ICS fastboot (this fails when CID is erased)
Follow the guide...
I had a booting JB from here . The only thing bothering me is the prompt "AT Command mode stop" or something like that...

man that sounds like even more difficult..i don't know where to start..can u help a little?

BMM 0.2.7 / 0.3.0e
Hi,
I might be totally off topic...
You guys aren't using 0.3.0 instead of BMM 0.2.7?
It kinda removes most of the glitches.

In the method to flash, they used BMM 0.2.7. So I used it..

I used BMM 0.2.7 to guide Razrguy through this How to because it's available in Play Store and through the apk easy to install for everyone. Of course BMM 0.3.f will work, too.
Just to make this clear
Sent from my XT910

Even i tried out o.2.7 according to the guide. and then through the comments came to know that 0.3.0 resolved USB storage issue and all and so installed later using 0.3.0 and everything is running awesome.
I carried out the installation like 3-4 times before i realized that i was installing 0.3.0 following 0.2.7 guide, and like an idiot, kept installing 0.2.7 over 0.3.0 at the last moment when the video demands that all the checkboxes in the already installed BMM app be ticked. :silly:

I am not sure what your issue is exactly,
but with 0.3.0
1] You can connect phone to windows and access internal storage and memory card normally as you would have done earlier.
2] You dont have to use BPTools to boot your phone now, normal reboot will display the CID error but will boot normally to the new Jelly Bean

Wow! Sounds great! How can I update BMM? I have exactly these two issues..can't connect the phone to PC and need BPTools every time to boot the phone. If I don't select BPTools, the phone hits a dead end.
Edit: for me its showing the latest version is 0.2.7? How did u guys get an update?

The play store version is still 0.2.7, 0.3.0 is not out as apk yet.
But you can install it using computer, from this link download 0.3.0f,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2005187
And like i said, 0.3.0 is not visible as an app like 0.2.7, so you wont need to open any app to verify the checkboxes or anything, as mentioned in the video of installation using 0.2.7. Skip that step if you are following the video.

Ok sir...
Rooted ...unlocked... cwm installed...
Which Rom ? Alien or starwars ?
No problem with English but will be great a Multilingual Rom for all international users...
pagapervedere
For the skipping sprint activation you also can freeze all apps with "sprint" (or sprint zone and sprintOmaDm as minimum) in the title via titanium backup.
They have a "stockish" rom that is in the development section that everyone is ranting about. By I personally am running the Alien ROM. which is okay. But I'd go with either Star Wars or the Stockish ROM myself. I'm gonna be flashing over the Stockish one tomorrow.
Thanks to all...
now i'm flashing Alien.....
after, if i'm not happy try others...
Good luck.
Flashing Alien rom will not skip the long network check on boot. Do not and i repeat do not freeze the Sprint zone as this causes a force close when it finishes the check upon reboot and causes it to check over and over again. (first hand experience of this)
Simple solution, put pbone into airplane mode before powering off, add the widget to your home screen. When you re boot knock it out of airplane mode and will connect to your network provider and no need to change any settings.
This was posted in another thread but cannot remember which one.

^^ i am facing the same issue here.. any solution?
If your phone is unlocked then flash the full puddin SBF file using RSD. Make sure it's the big file and not the one that's around 1 - 2 mb. Once finished it will say fail, pop the battery and re boot. Should now work again and do the long network check but without force close. Then just use airplane mode before shutting down each time.
Again do not freeze or remove sprint zone, that is the cause of the force close, not the roms.
Maybe an easier way but that's what I had to do.

Freezing SprintOmaDm disables the Sprint check. However, for some reason, the slide locks are disabled.
If there's a fix, I'd love to hear it...

Looks like the pudding_stock_unlock.sbf link is no longer available. I still have it on my machine but it weighs in at just under 2.5GB (silly me, its 404MB when zipped, uploading to FileFactory now)
Think your best option at present is to go back to basics. Firstly flash the stock recovery from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216143
Then download and flash the latest ota for rsd from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202666
Then go through the process of rooting/unlocking.

Yes go through the process of erase recovery then flash the stock recovery, take note that it is .smg just in case you think its .img
Then get RSD fired up and select the official update, phone into rsd mode and wait for it to complete. If all goes well it will say you need to manually re boot your device.
Any probs let us know and will try our best

You can just to be on the safe side.
I flashed it once when i was unlocked and i received a fail to boot message. Forgot to re lock the bootloader yesterday and just flashed and worked with no issues.
Just to keep it safe yes

i can't understand how it's possible that i received this error with all roms i flashed..
and i have NOT freezed never Sprint application...
i hope that, after the stock flash, to replace like new....

Glad you are back up and running
So you did not freeze the sprint zone at all?
When i flashed the HomeBase Photon Stock rom it went through the network check, hit ok at the end and got a force close. Must admit that never happened with the Alien rom though.
This is why now i am only rooted. Installed the latest update and just rooted. Had too many issues with custom roms, to be honnest stock is very fast and i also use ADWLauncher EX. You can also freeze/unistall the bloatware if need be, there is another thread with a list of safe apps to remove, but not sprint zone lol

[Q] Desire S dead after failed update

Hi,
I'm in desperate need for any help. I'll describe my situation:
After the phone offered me an update from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5, it remained screwed. When I returned to the phone after I started the update, I could see a red triangle with an exlcamation mark. Gradually, I found out how to access the recovery menu and the HBOOT. I did some googling in hope to solve my problem by myself, so a guy on a Czech android forum uploaded some PG88DIAG file which the HBOOT started loading for a while but always ended with an error like 'no image or wrong image'.
So I figured my phone data have gone to hell and moved on to try rooting the device. Again, I followed a guide so as not to mess anything up, but it seems that the odds are against me. I installed the driver, unistalled HTC sync, ran the phone in the USB fastboot mode, launched the unrevoked application with admin rights, turned every possible feature of my AV off and I just kep looking at the bloody 'waiting for device' message. Tried it on another PC, too.
If it can be of any use, my HBOOT version is 98.0002.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
(Make sure the drivers are installed on your PC) Boot into fastboot then reflash your stock rom.
Well, as a newbie, I have no idea how to reflash ROM. Care to help?

Download the RUU from here: http://www.filefactory.com/f/c64d333a2755a421/, then run it on your PC while your device is in fastboot.
Thanks, it worked! Now, could someone recommend me some ROM? I think it would be quite a pity not to root the phone now that've lost all data anyway.

Yes. Make sure you wipe the dalvik cache after you flash it.
Thanks. I have a tiny problem with the custom ROM, though. When I try to access the sound notification change (the one for messages), it says that Sound set has unexpectedely stopped (my translation) and it keeps crashing.
Is it a known bug in that ROM?

EDIT: When I try and boot up using volume +/- and power, I get the dual core logo for a second and then the phone goes dead again.

So you had bloat removed... the OP warns about this. Fastboot restore.
Guys, afer installing this patch, GUI works about 2x faster for me. So, the latest ICS fastboot cannot be final. THANK YOU!
Is this an official leak or some custom effort? I've put it and it seems like an improvement but i 'm worried if it will void my warranty or if it will not allow me to get any other official future update.

[Q] Help, Nightmare Sense Boot problem

So I recently installed Nightmare Sense v1.3. I used the latest CWM, and wiped/factory reset, wiped cache and wiped dalvik. I cannot get past the boot screen. I tried reflashing but that didn't help. Someone please help, the thread doesn't contain clear instructions on how to install so I kinda went on my own here. Thanks.

I had a hard time at first to. Before you try again, go to the thread and download the newer 1.4 version. It is Somewhere around page 162 I think. Then make sure you wipe all partitions before installing the zip in recovery. Good Luck
I'm currently having the exact same problem.
The strangest thing is - the phone was booting just fine yesterday.
I had Nightmare Sense 4.0 v1.2 on the phone and noticed that if the battery power got somewhat low it would sometimes shut the whole phone off (crash it off). I'd have to hold the power button to turn it back of, of course. Then after a week or so the phone would seemingly freeze at the HTC boot screen. I'd then have to pull the battery and then turn the phone back on, at which point it would boot up normally. Then today (well, I guess last night, technically) the phone would no longer move past the boot screen.
I can still get into CWM Recovery (v5.0.2.7) and do all of the thing I could do before, but doing complete wipes of everything, trying to load a new ROM, etc, do nothing to help. Plus, CWM is constantly telling me "E: Can't Mount /cache/recovery/command" "log" "open log" "mount log" "open log", which I don't remember it saying before.

Just flash a RUU for your carrier, assuming you know the directions already. If not, there are guides that gives you step-by-step directions on how to flash it.
RUUs fixes all software-related issues. From there, just flash a new recovery (I recommend 4Ext), and then flash a ROM.

Mine phone won't even let me install a different ROM.
I realized, when trying to wipe data/factory reset that it says "E:format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p31" (it says the same thing for 30 as well).
In other words it almost seems like the ROM corrupted the recovery tool or something. I can't format anything and therefore can't change anything. The phone is dead-locked with a broken Nightmare Sense 4.0 v1.3 ROM on it that won't move past the boot screen.

I will do this now, assuming I CAN flash an RUU when the recovery won't let me format.

There's no need to format anything, and have you even read the instructions? You DO NOT flash this in recovery. Please read the instructions in its entirety before proceeding!

No worries, friend.
I used the RUU and got things worked out but MY GOD does it take a long time to go from where I had the problem back to where the phone was directly before said problem. Use the RUU, re-update the phone, re-unlock the bootloader, re-root the phone, re-install a recovery tool, re-install ROM of choice, re-install ALL software and saved info, etc.
Between all of the work and the loading we're talking hours.

That's why we have S-Off phones. Much quicker than doing all that

Indeed. S-Off is your friend
If you had S-Off, you could've used my tool which would cut down the time needed to only 10-15 minutes.

Well, now ya' tell me!
Ya, my phone had (has) S-Off.
Hmm, well I solved one problem only to gain another MUCH worse problem.
After installing Nightmare Sense 4 v1.4 I now have zero sound of any kind. No phone speaker, no external speaker, no headphone sound, the phone does ring or give a dial tone, I can't hear people talking even though I can connect to them, etc.
Time to re-install yet again!

No Signal [4.4.4 LiquidSmooth v 3.2] [SOLVED]

Hi There
Yesterday I flashed LiquidSmooth v3.2 and since then i got no signal at all
First i ignored the first config (wifi and google account) as i was ansious to see the rom, and no signal. I thought this was the problem
Then i wiped cache/dalvik and started again as it should be, everything was alright but a lot of error messages on some ui crashed everything
Then i flashed 4.4 jbx cause... what if it was the problem. I don´t even know what to do, I´m newbie and still no signal
There´s also some error mount "/osh" while installing the rom and gapps
when installing jbx there was "set_perm: some changes failed
Now i noticed that airplane mode is looping on switch on/off and this is the causing the problem
But i still don´t know what to do
Need help. Thanks in advance.

I have the exact same problem. Sometimes i get full signal with a R sign, but it doesn't work either.
I have also the /osh error, but i think its normal.
I will follow this thread, I hope you can find an answer.

Could be, but mine is XT910 (Razr Maxx); I downloaded umts_spyder.
It´s the right version; I can´t imagine what´s going wrong.
Downloaded tons of tutorials and it doesn´t works either.
None of them [tutorials] talk a thing about this message "Unable to mount "/osh", just mine;
Everything i try to do gives me the message:
"E:Unable to mount '/osh' "
and
"kernel does not have support for reading SELinux contexts"

I have no idea what osh is. But i get it all the time with safetystrap and i just ignore it. doesnt seem to hurt anything.
I would try deleating the slot your using (unless your on stock because you cant). make a new slot. Install the correct rom i.e. umts_spyder for xt910 or spyder for xt912
flash your gapps and try again. v3.2 has been working great for me on slot 2 with no problems so far on my xt912

How much space did you use in your slot?
I used 1gb for system
2 gb for data
600mb for cache
Is there any restrictions? What´s the best way?

i just set it at what ever it comes up as when i make the slot. im running three roms carbon on stock, mokee on 1 and smooth on 2. i swear i set mokee at 1g system 2g data and 600mb for cache and when i go back and look its now 1018m system 2586m data and 574m cache. maybe it adjust itself for what it needs if thats possible.
But i dont think you can set it up wrong, as long as you can make the slot your good to go.
Is this normal?

PS: this is the stock rom, that still works.
The screenshot is about the kernel, doubt it´s stock. Maybe when rooting something installed another one.
Just conjectures...

well if your in Brazil i would go to mobile networks settings in the stock rom and copy everything down. transfer that to the custom rom see if that helps signal.
not sure about kernel just started playing with that stuff myself and has not gone well for me
you can always take the phone back to stock and start from scratch
rootzwiki.com/topic/13566-how-to-droid-razr-return-to-stock
had to do that when i set some stuff wrong with jbx kernel and got stuck in a boot loop

somebody better should probably explain kernels. but as far as i understand each rom is built around a specific kernel?> hopefully someone can jump in and explain that .
for network settings go to settings-mobile networks and write down how its all set up ie, data enabled? roaming, look at preferred network type is?
my phone for verizon in the u.s.a. is set
data enabled ...yes
data roaming ...yes
preferred network type is ....global
system select is set to ....automatic
cdma subscription is set to ....RUIM/SIM
Access Point Names....
one rom i used the preferred network was set to some crazy thing like "EvDo only" i think and i couldn't do better then basic phone calls. had a 1x for data. soon as i switched it to global i was up and running.
Im a newb also but i have screwed my phones up enough times i am starting to learn how to fix things. the razr is a good phone to mess with because as far as i can tell you cant mess it up so bad you cant fix it.

try a different rom. Carbon, Axxion, are both really good or CM11
Carbon is my favorite at the moment <my daily driver and flashed as my stock rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2423299
AxxionKat is a close second but the download server they use has been down for days.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2761434
And for just a good stable basic KitKat you really cant beat CM11

U can, as @davidjumanji said delete cell broadcast receiver apk from system app.
Also I'd try start again, wipe slot etc.
Mine is running complete stable! Try first without JBX-Kernel, then again with
Stock kernel doesn't affect these kk roms. Kk roms come with kexec kernel, kexec loads the kernel from kk rom on top of stock kernel.
