Been reading since August that Verizon was rolling out the GSM update for the Rezound. I am going overseas in Feb. and there is still no update. I'd hate to root but might be forced to. Any news on getting the stock update through Verizon? Thanks!

You can install the unreleased global update that was supposed to be officially released but never was. I am still running it on my rezound and it works perfectly. You do not have to be s-off to flash it either. Just grab the link at the bottom, download the zip. Rename it to PH98IMG.zip. Place it on the root of your sd card (the area of your sd card that is not inside any folders). Once the file is on your sd card PLEASE verify the md5 sum by comparing it to the md5 provided on my download link. If you dont know how to verify md5, just do a google search for something like MD5 windows, OSX, linux whichever OS you have on your computer. Once you have verified md5 pull the battery on your phone. Put the battery back in and boot into hboot. Once your phone boots into hboot use the volume buttons to scroll up and down till you have 'bootloader' highlighted. Once highlighted press the power button. This will cause your rezound to scan your sd card and it will find the file you put there. From there just simply follow the prompts to update. When finished you'll reboot into a fresh and clean updated GLOBAL version
Now, once you have set up your phone again, please connect your phone to your computer once again and mount the sd card. Remove the PH98IMG.zip.
Keep in mind, doing this procedure is not safe and will wipe app and personal data on your phone. Your internal and external sd cards will be safe though. I would still recommend backing everything up to your computer first though, as they say....just in case
Here is the file, have fun.

Thanks a TON!
Yes that update works great, except in GSM mode your GPS will stop working after a while and you need to reboot. Somehow the standalone gps is software locked to the CDMA setting even if you have no SIM in the phone at all.

what carrier do you have it on? and is 3g or hspda or lte working? and i am going to install global leak... did you do anything else
I have it on Tmobile with the global leak. Everything works (text sending/receiving, and data), but you will only get 2G (Edge) until Tmobile updates its towers to LTE.
(Edge is fine for me, so I am not complaining).
The only annoyances are you will get a lockscreen message "SIM from unknown source" (which you can ignore, but it is annoying after a while) and your gps will work for a little bit while on GSM setting (if you switch to CDMA even with a tmobile sim inside it works, surprisingly. So that would be your only workaround for long trips).
You can probably root and remove the HTC lockscreen, or install GoLocker from the market to deal with the SIM message ... but there is no good solution for the GPS on GSM setting (you can try tweaking the gps.conf, but it will not get you too far)

Thanks I will be moving to denver in about a month or so after getting my tax return. I may but it on tmobile unless someone else has another idea. I am open to ideas... Net10, verizon prepaid, cricket?
We have tMobile coverage here everywhere. I am on a prepaid plan, sometimes I switch it to data (for $2 per day of use), and sometime I keep it data-less. They also have a plan for $30/mo unlimited data

I haven't upgraded from the stock rom yet, but I'm considering it because it seems like I have a firmware problem. I got this phone new off of ebay a few months ago. At least every other day, the phone keeps saying "SD card unexpectedly removed, please insert a new one". It happens when I haven't changed card. I don't even have to touch the phone and I'll see the screen come on and say "sd card unexpectedly removed..." I have googled and I saw others experiencing the same problem. This is one thing that is keeping me from upgrading to a different ROM. I'm worried that if I change roms, maybe the internal problem with manifest during the procedure and brick my phone. Is this a concern that I should have? Or should I proceed with changing ROM's?
My other question is if someone else with this same phone has experienced this problem before, and did the problem go away when the ROM was changed?
Yeah, I just picked up one of these off ebay, and... the pins on the SD card slot are pretty bad, I dunno if that helps exactly but maybe something to check for...
Well I had the same problem.
. I rooted my phone didn't happened again .. but 90% of the time when I rebooted it didn't read any of my apps. Every time .. I got. Rom. Manger .. got clock work recovery and did a backup of my rom .. than I flashed mik cm7 .. never had those problems again ... and didn't. Have the problem were my phone restarted on it's on ...
From My LG Optimus P509 CM7
oh yeah, my phone restarts on it's own too. I forgot to mention, I assumed it could have been a bad connection leading the phone to not read the SD card, then read it, then not read it. It has a cheap looking lock-down mechanism that doesn't look like it would let the phone read the SD card all the time. So I cut a little piece of paper the size of the SD card and stuck it between the lock-down latch door and the card, it didn't fix a thing. So I ruled out a bad connection.
So blackrose, you had the same probs I have now and yours is fixed? I'll look up the mik cm7 rom and install that, are there different versions of the mik cm7 rom? If so, which did you choose?
Check the firmware version on your phone. Older firmwares had that issue, but I believe they were resolved in V10L and newer revisions.
You can go to LG's website and get the download link for the newest f/w version for your phone by putting your IMEI at the end of the address:
csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=INSERT IMEI HERE
You have to use KDZ updater to flash it.
!! disable LG modem in computer device manager !!
make sure you have msxml installed
set type to 3GQCT
set PhoneMode to DIAG
Select the downloaded firmware file
sit back and WAIT..
Ours the stock rom side I have the same phone from tmobile optimus t and have had the same problem with three of these phones (sold to friends over seas thats why so many) I suggest install custom recovery and rom as soon as possible it makes a huge difference in performance and fixes that pRoblem let me if know if you need help you can even pm me

I run linux on my laptop, I used to have my laptop dual booted when I had my hd2 so I could change out my roms but then I sold my hd2, had no use for windows so I deleted the partition. is there a linux version of the updater i need? or can i install the kdz updater through wine? does kdz updater run solid enough in wine so I don't have to worry about bricking it? I'm going to sell this phone for whatever I can get for it on ebay and I want it functional. I'm picking up another hd2 tomorrow for a great price.

i just tried going to the lg webpage you mentioned and I got a weird error. My IMEI is 012408001118364, and it says IMEI SV is 03. this is the exact link that I typed in my browser, I copied it and posted it here when it didn't work.

my phone has gotten worse in the last couple weeks. has anyone tried to see if it's just a faulty SD card? the problem has to do with the sd card, the phone says it's removed when it wasn't. I have an old 2 gig one somewhere that I'll put in it and see what happens. also my version is V10L
what do I need to put a different rom on my optimus t? and would it be running off of the SD card like I had to do with the HD2 or can it just run off of the internal memory?
my phone works perfectly now. I checked for updates and I have the latest update already installed on it, it's what came on it, V10L. So I deleted some apps off of the phone to clear up space. I grabbed a different 2gig SD card, formatted it with the phone, transferred all of my old stuff from it off of the other card that was in it and put it in the phone. Now I have had it running flawlessly for over a week. I don't know if it was the samsung SD card that was in it that was faulty, or if it was doing that because there were too many apps on it. I know some SD cards are junk, I don't know about samsung, the one I put in it is older but it is a kingston. I didn't have to root it or anything. But I still want to so I can delete some of this crap thats on it from when I got it.
So since this phone is linux based, how do I get to the terminal so I can su root or sudo. And what is the root password? I want to control this thing!
So maybe the problem was that I had too little space left on it, or maybe the problem was that the SD card is junk.
i followed intructions on how to get 1.4.1 to with sd card to flash back to 1.4.0 but no luck...it just starts as normal, i have done the power on off 8 times a few times redownloaded zip file...no idea....i did call barns and noble and complained they said version 1.4.2 is coming out next week to allow side loading once again, thanks in advance with anyone that can help with this problem
thats interesting. if 1.4.2 comes out and allows sideloading then you should be able to root if you get 1.4.2, unless something changes again. Anxious to find out!
the technical support lady from bn said she has had 100s of calls about this issue, ps thanks for that video on rooting worked awesome, i procrastinated on blocking updates...ill make sure that i do this next time around, really like adw

Are you asking how to install iOS on your Nook Tablet or how to get the Android Market on an iOS device?
waiting for update on 1.4.1 for nt (zipfile that works to put back 1.4.0) but also want to get android on the ipad but there arent any forums that i have found about the ipad2jailbreak with os5.0.1

Chances of getting Android on an iPad2 are just about nil. Completely different (and closed) hardware architecture - I don't see how anyone could get Android on it.
that sucks, i really like android, thanks for information

I've heard of people getting android on jailbroken ios devices, but this would be the wrong place to look for help with that. Ios is closed, but with android being open it is not unlike trying to develop a rom for an android device (like a Nook Tablet, for example).
SD card method fails after 1.4.1
Using the acclaim_update.zip method, after the initial screen it looks like the NT tries to start the factory restore procedure then errors out with this message:
"Please restart your device and try again."
I fear I am borked. Has anyone else seen this version of fail?
I am also unable to get adam's sd method to work. My device is at 1.4.1. i performed a factory reset and the factory reset shows 1.4.1! The method I performed for factory reset was to hold the power and home button repeat and release on the 9th time. It did show the factory reset screen with the yellow progress bar. Reran setup and it still showed 1.4.1. it didn't load 1.4.1 it is already set as the factory software level jnow since I got the update. I cant return this device as I dont have a reciept. So here I sit. i have not seen any updates from Adam.
i am going to try a different Micro SD card
let me know if it works!
This method works I video taped a walk through and I will post it. I installed 1.4.1 and reverted back to 1.4.0 without a hitch. Video soon
Update... by soon i mean like within the next 10 hours... it is a 50 minute video that I have to upload in HD... 4 gigs
No luck with aclaim_update.zip on 16GB PNY sd card
Hi All:
I am using 16 GB class 10 pny micro sdhc card. I was able to root
the system and get some apps sideloaded with rev 1.4.0 of the
software.
Then I got burned by the 1.4.1 update and tried the following methods to get
back to 1.4.0:
1) shut off nook (at 1.4.1) and pull the sd card. Insert card into laptop
copied zip file to root of drive. Put card back in nook tablet powered
on. FAIL system booted normally.
2) Formatted sd card in nook. Shut off nook. loaded zip file as in 1.
Powered on system. FAIL system booted normally.
3) formatted sd card on computer, installed zip file (and tested it) on the
sd card. Put card in nook, powred on. FAIL booted normally.
Then I tried all three after unregistering the nook.
Then I tried all three after hard resetting the nook (factory firmware
reload to 1.4.1).
I also attached the nook to the computer directory and put the zip file
at the root of the internal (MyNook E) drive (similar to the method for
manually installing 1.4.1 given on the barnes and noble site). As of now
it has not loaded.
No joy at all. Can people who have had this work tell me what cards they are
using. Maybe there is something there (maybe I need just a micro sd card and
not a micro sdhc card??)
Thank for any info people can provide. I would post the question to the
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402190 thread, but
I am not allowed to since I am a new user 8-(.

Yup that's the procedure I did (in 3) using a 4096 block size for the card.
I am re-downloading the file now in case the verify I did was lying somehow
and the file wasn't valid. Since it's fat32, what settings for permissions
(read only, archive ...) did you have on the file.

except no magic here. Sigh.
Too bad this "update" effecively killed two POC projects I was doing for work
that would have sold a few more nooks and also helped drive us
to buy our company tech books though B&N when available.

the difference between my situation and yours is I unroot and install patch 1.4.1 on a stock device and then remove it with the sdcard recovery. I wonder if something doesnt work right if it patches over a root? I cant verify this...

The first time I tried steps 1,2 and 3it was on a still rooted nook. So I
had my side loaded apps and could play streaming radio and access the
emergency response guide and ssh to other hosts.
But I also tried step 3 on an unregistered nook before finally
breaking down and doing a complete factory reset (hold down
power and N ...) and using step 3 on it.
So I claim we at this point have the same environment.
I wonder if it could be something with the boot roms? Maybe some roms
look for the zip and some don't? I don't know how to verify that though.
The model number on my nook is BNTV250 and there is an IC number of
8961A-BNTV250A I think. Kind of difficult to read it.

Hi.
I'm a noob, & this is my 1st question in any forum whatsoever, so please be gentle.
this is a serious problem, for I am just minutes away from bricking my device.
HTC started rolling out the official ICS update OTA for the evo3D, and my device said there werew no updates available when I checked manually. so I did what everyone would do, try to install it manually. so after a bit of google, I found out that you can do so, by downloading the OTA files to sd card, and followed these instructions ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1732984 ) . after that, I had 3 files in the root directory;
(1)
S_OFF_4EXT_RECOVERY_OTA_SHOOTER_U_ICS_35_S_HTC_Eur ope_3.28.401.1-1.20.401.8_release_2627623qpt0ma8rnwgn0qq.zip (which is the OTA files, 274MB)
(2)
PG86IMG.zip (containing radio,adsp,boot,sbl3,sbl2,sbl1,rpm,tz, and rc data - all are .img, and a little text file.) size was 18MB
(3)
root-OTA-ICS.zip size was like 6MB
so I powered on the device while holding the volume down, and went into HBoot (which mine is version 1.49.xxx.bla blah) and the options were "fast recovery, reset, all that, but: it shows those options for like 2 seconds, then goes automatically to read PG86IMG.zip, listing the files above. it asked me if I wanted to start an update, and being the noob that I am, I obviously said yes. it updated all those files above, and asked me to restart. now I can't get past the HTC splash screen boot logo. the screen just goes black after that.
If I boot into recovery without an sd card in, it goes to it, with the red /!\ icon, and when I press volume up and the power key, (after re-inserting the SD card) it says
"E:Can't open /cache/recovery/comand"
"E:failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory)" three times.
then there are blue options above,
"Reboot system noe, Apply update from SD card, wipe data/factory reset, cache,"
so I selected "Apply update from SD card"
I get
"E:failed to verify whole-file signature.
E:signature verifiction failed
Installation aborted"
Please help!
PS, I don't want to loose all my contacts, data, msgs.
and is there a way of mounting the SD card to the PC so that I can copy files to and from the MicroSD card? - or any application/command prompt which can do so?
Sorry for the long post. I just wanted to explain everything so you know where exactly I'm at.
Thank you so much!
What carrier are you on?

Gsm... And cdma!
well, my device is unlocked.
I think I have the Europe variant, (because it has a GSM simcard slot)
but I bought it from ebay, and it had a number tag on it, so I think
it was one of those early prototypes, because in the options (when it was still
working) i had an option to select CDMA only, or GSM & CDMA. (radio type)
had it since november last year... worked fine all the way...
Thanks!
All gsm phones actually give that option so simply enough, you have the gsm version. I would be fairly certain that with the update via pg86img all your data etc would have been lost anyway. Have you *tried* using a stock pg86img??
You could also try the htcdev unlock via fastboot via htcdev.com and than flash a recovery with fastboot and install a gb rom.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
oh, and reading/writing to sd card?
oh noooooo! :crying:
are you sure all my data will be lost?
all my new contacts, etc? noooo!
anyways, where can I get that stock file?
or should I just follow the second link (in my post)?
and is there a way to mount the SD card to my PC
(so that I can download that file there) - or maybe
a command line/*.exe application which can sync
in to the SD card to read and write while the phone
is on (either in Hboot or recovery)
thanks so much for your help so far! :good:
OK, so a quick update,
I finally got hold of acces to my SD card on my PC using a card reader,
and I replaced the PG86IMG.zip with the one from the second link,
repeated the update (which got me into all this mess in the 1st place)
and now my phone boots normally. :victory:
I lost all my messages, but got my contacts from my google account,
and some I have saved earlier in my SD card. some of the apps also retained!
now, when I manually check for the OTA update, I get the notification,
download it, verifies it, and reboots itself to install.
when the progress bar is a third of the way, a red questionmark ? icon appears,
update stops, and reboots back to gingerbread. done it 3 times now!
any pointers as to what is causing this?
my HBoot version is 1.49.2012, and it says "S-OFF"
thanks again people!!!

from what i've heard is you need S-ON to do the official ICS update S-OFF is for flashing custom roms only
hello all respected developers,
your contributions to the photon 4g community and to the android community is wonderful. I hope I won't be pissing you guys off with my questions. Feel free to delete the post if you think its already asked and not worth it.
I'm what you would call a typical end user. Have only basic knowledge about flashing roms and I'm a huge motorola fan. Not the software but only the hardware they give.
Ok now for the questions and problems I face with the roms.
1. I installed AOKP rom with the newest and latest kitchen sink (kitchensink-v2.11-photon7). Installed perfectly.
=>After I installed the rom I wanted to take a picture with my camera, and i dont use an external SD card so i wasnt able to take picture with my camera because near the camera click button it kept saying "you need sd card" which I don't have and would not like to buy a new one.
I feel about 8 gb internal storage is more than enough for a cell phone and don't want to waste anymore money buying useless accesories.
How can I fix this?? I checked the aroma installer there is no option for use EMMC as primary storage. How do I turn my internal storage as the primary storage.
2.Now I thought i would give CNA rom a try, i installed it went perfectly well. Now I went into settings storage and storage configuration just like thebill said, and clicked on the option that says to use internal storage and rebooted phone, now camera works fine here.
=> BUT in this rom there is another problem, i go into settings and try to click on the mobile networks (because i want to edit APN and stuff) what i get is an error that says exactly this "Unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped" .
3. Now everyone says cm9 works very well is very stable. Now i want to see this cm9 for myself. so i downloaded " beta 0.8.1 AROMA - 23/08/2012 8:01pm EST " from www(dot)jokersax.com/developer-pages/jokersax/cyanogenmod9-photon/ It is aroma based so install it directly with full wipe and reboot phone after installing I get stuck in the "dual core technology screen" . I tried various suggestions given here for boot loop problem i cleared cache and data did factory reset try install it again still stuck in boot loop.
now out of these 3 problems solve any 1 for me please.
thanks in advance
CM9 does work well. But, I tried the Aroma version myself and had issues so maybe try one of the others first.

your contributions to the photon 4g community and to the android community is wonderful.

The kitchen sink rom has not been updated in a very long time. All of the roms included are based on our ICS builds. We have since moved onto JB and most will say that our JB roms are much more stable than ICS roms. I would suggest downloading the jelly bean versions of AOKP and CNA and trying them out as they are in active development and getting more stable every week. You will have a better experience with these.
i have more questions now coz of my careless button pressing i formatted emmc in the cwm and now i dont have any files in internal storage and i formated system, cache data etc etc everything full wipe. But i still have cwm recovery and i can boot into it, My question is how do I move files into the internal storage of my mopho with CWM?

Should be able to go into mounts and storage and select mount emmc or sdcard and connect your phone to your computer. Then you'll be able to put files onto it. I noticed you said you didn't have an sdcard? Are you sure? My photon came with a 2gb sdcard already installed if I'm not mistaken. If its there, choosing to mount usb storage will work too.
well **** it..im gonna install jb like u guys said. Since ics development is stopped i hope gsm works in the new jb.
the mount usb storage doesnt work in cwm get some error (some unable lunfile error) is there way to push files using fastboot?
hi, i just bought an sd card lol and mounted it and installed cm9 beta. Now i got a problem earlier when i installed CNA i messed with the testing tools and clicked something and from there i lost my GSM signal completely gone (got x mark on the signal bar) and after that i did format system n installed another rom and even in that rom i dont get any signal (get x sign on the signal bar) i dont remember what i pressed exactly does anyone know how i can fix it? in the settings status and signal status it says radio off.
Again, you'll probably have better luck with any of the JB based roms. You'll never wanna go back to ics. Make sure you download the gsm version.
But to fix your current setup, you can try going into phone app and dialing *#*#4636#*#* then ensuring the network type is set to gsm auto prl. Set it to that if its not then reboot. If this doesn't help I don't know how to fix your current setup as I don't know what you changed.

I am unsure how to get you back to working in your current rom. Again though, doing a full wipe and installing the gsm version of cm10 should fix you right up as long as you wipe correctly. By that I mean, wipe cache, system, data, and dalvikcache before installing. Sorry I can't be of more help, I've never had to tinker with gsm nor have I left the country with my photon.

UPDATE: had to do a rsd lite sbf flash back to stock to get the radio back to default didn't find any other solution really
This is a prerooted stock ROM of the OK2 update. It also has the sd card fix patch applied.
This ROM requires installing a custom recovery on your device, which will trip Knox.
All operations are done at your own risk
I would advise against flashing the EFS partition unless you know yours is corrupted (i don't think many people have that issue). The Boot, System, and Modem partitions all need to be flashed though.
If installing over Kitkat, a factory reset will most likely be required as lollipop installs apps differently. Also be prepared to lose all files on internal memory.
I would recommend backing up your OS before flashing. Also it wouldn't hurt to backup app data to make reinstalling apps easier.
Here's the thread for twrp:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-sprint/general/how-to-root-note-3-lollipop-t3089382
To install the ROM, extract the 7zip file to "/ExtSdCard/twrp/backups/{serial number}/"
using your favorite software (I made the file with ES File Explorer on Android).
Enter recovery mode (Volume up + Home button while poering on), and select "Restore" from the list of options.
There is a option to select internal or external storage to Restore from.
Select the OK2 stock rooted backup file. (Un)Check the appropriate boxes.
Restore the image to install the new OS
Here's the ROM

I don't suppose you have another link? It fails to download every time I try.*Edit* I didn't have drive installed just flashed cm nightly forgot to install it :silly: thanks. And keep up the good work!
Not right now. I know youl'll receive two or three different errors, but you gotta click "continue" or "download" or "download anyway" to get the file. If it continues to be a problem, I can setup a torrent server for it when i get home tonight.
It might also help to download to a pc, or on a Wi-Fi connection. I've had issues with downloads failing to complete using my phone with big files.
Is there a way to change the launcher to 5x4

I do not know if there's a way to do so with to do so with TouchWiz, since I haven't used it since before the Kitkat update.
I've been using Go Launcher EX for awhile now instead, and it supports that feature.

I do not know. I use a third-party app for my hotspot. If you have hotspot services with your provider, the native one should work, but I have not tested that theory.
If you're not signed up for hotspot services, check here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2796994
or the "Wi-Fi Tether Router" app on the play store works very well for me (since this is a rooted ROM):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.snclab.wifitetherrouter&hl=en
Just have to remember with that app to turn the device's Wi-Fi on before activating the hotspot.
Is anyone else having wifi calling issues with this rom? At first I got the error 16 switch message when trying calls of any kind off wifi, but wifi calling worked. Then I called sprint and they worked their magic to correct the error 16 message but I've had wifi calling issues ever since. Calls start and immediately drop on wifi calling.

I personally never had that problem. But I did notice if I tried to download a big file, or other devices on the network were using a LOT of data, the Wi-Fi calling would disconnect. Sometimes using the Bluetooth could cause problems since it uses the same antenna as the Wi-Fi... But I only had issues with that when transferring data with one or the other.
Yep, I know it can be picky, I have used it for years. This is the first time is disconnects immediately on every wifi call. Nothing has changed on my network. Comcast 75mbps, wireless AC router. It started with this rom, which by the way I love otherwise.
For sprint note3?
I cant get file to unzip
Am i supposed to be able to do this on my phone without a computer?
Ok. Got it to unzip with 7zip but wouldn't install do i have to overwrite a dated back up or just extract in twrp ? Any help would be great im without a computer and my phone is on crack after sprint updated my plan

If you have successfully unzipped the file while the device is in normal operation. Then after you have booted into recovery mode (twrp) you should be able to locate the unzipped file with twrp. If it doesn't flash (Install) then something else is wrong. Is your phone already rooted ? If so what OS are you running now ? If not, You may want to root with supersu first. Do you have an SD Card installed in your device? If so, using a root file manager app like Root Explorer copy and paste the unzipped OK2 OS file to the Sd Card and boot back into twrp recovery and locate the unzipped file and flash from the SD Card.

This requires a custom recovery. I used TWRP to make the backup, and used ES File Explorer to zip it. If you don't have a custom recovery, you need a computer to install one. There is a completely stock ROM available if you don't want to trip Knox and keep your device completely stock, but that does require a computer.
Ok i ill try it again when im in better service i thought i had to put it in my backup folder

It took mine a good ten to fifteen minutes at least to go through all that.
Did you remember to clear your Dalvik and cache?
Moved to Android Development since that's where this technically belongs.

How does it belong in development when there is no development, nor has there been, any development going on in this thread? People needing help and asking basic questions doesn't count as development.
Restore or install?!?!
I have seen people say to "restore", "install", and/or "flash" this file. These are all options in TWRP. Which is it?
