OK so Ive installed the injected firmware and successfully rooted my phone but now im trying to unlock the bootloader. I followed the ideos and instructions to a T and casual doesnt detect my phone. Tried the process about 5 times now. So im wondering what the problem is? Also once done i want to install a custom "clean" ROM any suggestions?
Download the samsung kies software which has the correct drivers for the phone.

I tried using insecure firmware (KF1 and KF3) and both superoneclick and s2root don't recognize my device even with debugging mode on.
Anyone manage to make it work?
I have tried to start rooting, but supposedly you need kies to work.
My kies constantly tells me "devicemanager.exe has stopped working" when I try to connect it. So until its fixed I can't root it (and no one will help me )
That said, I'veheard rooting is successful, but getting an unlock key has been not so successful.
i used cf-root and now have villianrom 2.1 installed and working. yeah i don't think unlock works yet
rooted and unlocked here...
the conventional rooting methods do not work on the s2, as the poster before me mentioned you have to use CFroot to flash the custom kernel, that will automatically root it, once you have done that you can search for the galaxy s unlock by helroz on the market, and it works... thats how i did mine.
First of all - if this has been asked before, please forgive me. I tried searching, but it's not even 6.30 am yet and my brain isn't completely on yet.
What I was wondering about is if rooting the S3 will stop OTA updates for the phone, and if the OTA will keep coming I would very much like to know what the easiest route to rooting this is. I cannot be bothered to keep manually flashing my phone like I did with my S2...
Cheers!
If all you do is root, you will still get OTA updates but if you install a custom recovery the OTA updates will not install.

You would still be able to update through kies with custom recovery. Its basically what i do, root + CWM, when i see the OTA, i go to my pc and update through kies.
Thanks, guys Now I just need to find out how come Odin won't connect properly. Hopefully, the phone just needs a charge...
Is it actually possible to root without changing the loader? If so, could someone point me in the right direction? It seems the ones I've found will install CWM :S
OT
one does not simply
root a n00b
Just flash the kernel via Odin. It will not void your warranty if you use Triangle Away.
The only reason why Odin does not detect is because the drivers are not installed properly in your PC
Hopefully someone can help me. So I rooted my device using the Casual method. Tried many times. It still errored out but when I looked on my phone SU was installed. The root worked but when I tried to go into recovery, it took me to Android recovery not TWRP. So being ignorant, I decided to install TWRP through the Goo Manager and when I tried to go into recovery, I got the "system software not authorized by vzw" error. Could only get into download mode. Decided to flash back to stock using Odin. Process went fine but it basically put my phone back to where it was without root (same apps, settings, etc.). I guess it didn't do a complete flash? So I decided to run casual again to re root/unlock bootloader. Tried it multiple times on win7 64bit computer. Even tried it on a 32bit VM. Came up with this error. Someone please help!
About a month ago I rooted my Samsung Galaxy Grand(the single sim version) with the help of Klingo Root, worked like a charm and had no problems at all. I even uninstalled all the bloatware samsung and the carrier had installed. About 3 weeks ago then an official update poped-up, so I updated my phone through Samsung Kies. Everything went fine, but after the reboot of the phone I noticed that all the bloatware was back, so I just figured, maybe i have to uninstall it again.
But then disaster struck SuperU said there is no SU Binary installed, so I though could have the update unrooted my phone? So I tried rooting it again with Klingo, doesn't work, I tried Framaroot, doesn't work either, I even tried to install Clockworkmod with Odin and it doesn't work. I even repeated the procedure while factory resetting my phone.
Has anyone else encountered this? It seems my phone is somewhere in between being unrooted and rooted? Everything else works fine.
Help! I just want to uninstall the carrier bloatware!

When you update your software it actually update your firmware. So the previous method will not work for this firmware.
1. you need to do it with different method if developers found it for you
2. just installed previous version of android .
3. May be fixed by factory reset..
4. You can even install prerooted custom rom like CM11
As per my experience new update will not that much compactible for all phones..
Hi, I'll start from the beginning, so I have a smart phone vodafone 2 (Alcatel V860) I wanted to upload the new software but accidentally I uploaded a backup of the tablet, after uploading the backup phone can not be connected as the flash mode, or in any way, you can not enter the recovery can not in any way connect the computer, the phone is as if dead. when I connect it to the computer when it is turned off the sound indicating that a new device has been detected, however, this software can not be installed. I hope that there will be a magician who already had a similar problem and knows what to do. Please help as soon as possible, if anyone knows what's going on I can talk about it on skype because it seems to me that it will be hard to even describe.
Thanks in advance.

So I Tried to root my newly acquired I717, using this method
"How To: Root AT&T Galaxy Note i717 Jelly Bean 4.1.2 " on You Tube by mooneyb123
I tried on my macbook but I wouldn't recognize the note in Jodin. So I used my Fiances pc.
I had to install keis as the video did not mention that., But it did instal TWRP, which is awesome, But when I tried to instal the CWM-SuperuserSU-v0.94 file nothing happens, it appears to work fine and says successful but when I reboot and check for Root its not rooted.
I've tried this 4 times now.
I don't know what to do next
I want to root to get rid of the ATT bloatware, and possibly overclock. I might try a stable rom like padawan later but I mainly just want to root. Is their any way to do it with TWRP? or am I going to have to go another route?
Also can I odin CWM on or do I need to wipe the device to factory first. The main thing is I don't want to brick it as I am using the phone daily.
I tried what I thought would be the "easiest" looking way to root, but since it didn't work, I need some advice.
How do i get it back to stock recovery If its not rootable? I am running 4.1.2.
I did upgrade soon after I got the device but am wondering If I could have rooted it easier on the original version of android.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
is their any way I can do it with
