ok? well elaborate what "sucked" on it. im asking because im still contemplating getting a razr maxx.
I'd say that everything in the first post that this phone does, the razr didn't do for him.

he must of had a defective device because i haven't seen too many complaints with it compared to the gnexus.

Thank you lol
Mine does the same, but I killed all threads about it, becuase there is no point.
Any one who says "it's a solid phone" is a light user who can't tell 3g from 4g speed and just wants looks. The gnexus is crap and any rep will be able to tell you why.
This phone is not the best of the best ever, but vs the razr and the gnexus, it's the world saver x3000 + maga super better phone. (ok it's over the top, but you get it.)
I picked the bad phone, to get in on unlimited data and now I will be paying for it intill the end of the year. ( No not becuase of the 2012 thing)
Any way I don't care any more, becuase it work's some times and when it does, it blazing fast. (And I will have a "new" phone by the end of the year)
I also switched from the Droid Razr to the HTC Rezound. Two main reasons are the Razr was too hard to hold when typing and the battery life was too short when using LTE.
The Rezound plus extended battery fixed both of those problems.
Sent from my HTC Rezound using Cyan Tapatalk
The RAZR is junk for the following reasons:
1.) Can't hold onto 4G.
2.) POOR battery life even with smart actions and no auto sync (I heard this was the same on the MAXX)
3.) Super AMOLED advanced display was garbage. You could see black blobs and this was "normal" according to Motorola.
4.) Non-Removable battery (wouldn't be an issue but battery life sucked)
5.) Locked Bootloader
I'd say the only thing the RAZR had going for it tbh was the physical build. I mean in some retrospects it wasn't a bad phone, but just not for me I use too much juice.

1) So true
2) True but has goten better with 2.3.6
3) This one is true and it piss's me off.
4) 100% dead on
5) This would not be so bad if 1,2 and 4=true.
I think I am stuck with it now, becuase I don't think they will take it back.
the razr maxx would cure your battery issues. as far as non-removable batteries i hate to say it but that may be the way of the future. yes the bootloader is locked but there is still development.
Oh yea, but would it fix this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDxJoGv3FLA
After having a handful of Rezounds that had issues, I move to the Razr Maxx.
I went through 2 Maxx's before I got one without dead pixels.
But now that I finally have a good Maxx, I actually like it a bit more than the Rezound. The Rezound had a better display and a bit better camera. I thought the extended battery for the Rezound would make it better to hold (like it did for the Incredible) but I felt the Rezound was too much like a brick. I forget sometimes that my Maxx is even in my pocket. I never forgot when the Rezound (w/ext battery) was in my pocket
My Maxx, with more mah than the extended battery my Rezound had, gets about 3-4 days with medium use (my medium use wont be the same as yours). My Maxx feels more solid than my Rezound, but im sure that has to do with the fact that the Rezound's door felt somewhat cheaper (my opinion) with the battery contacts located in it.
I tested my Rezounds signal in many places and my Maxx gets 4g more often and my signal is better for calls. I have only had data drop once in the last month and a half.
I also find my Maxx is more smooth. I loaded up Go launcher, and a few other apps, and they operated smoother on the Maxx by far.
These phones are very finicky and while I've had great experiences with the Razr Maxx, another person will have terrible experiences.
In the end, I just keep changing phones until I get one that works the way I want, despite the reviews I read. I'm not bashing HTC. I had an HTC Incredible that I still play with to this day. Just for some reason the Rezound didn't work for me (and I wished it did, I just loved that display.
Did you buy the maxx or were you able by a 10000000000000000 to 1 chance able to swap phones. Mine has a dead pixel, but I can live with it. The part that kills me is the data droping of DOOM. It does well at phone calls, better than my S2 in fact. It seems to hate desktop webpage of youtube. (Video stops playing even with 4g fine. My S2 with the ICS update hates it to, but not the same way.)
Becuase I can't repeat this and it just happens. I am unable to get anywere, so it looks like I will have to live with it for a bit intill I buy a phone again at the end of the year.
Did you have your razor stock cus my wifes has all sorts of crazy force closes with stock and I'm quite disappointed. But this phone kicks ass till the HTC one comes out that is lol

Have you had any data drops/ isuses at all in the past 30 days or so?
thanks
I just did the update to the leaked ICS and I couldn't be happier. First of all it was so easy to do. It's like a whole different phone. So fast and smooth. I think since our phone has the same specs as the skyrocket but with more pixels to push the note is hampered quite a bit. ICS I think makes better use of hardware acceleration and there fore speeds up the phone quite alot. Btw, since this rom isn't rooted will it still get the ota update when it comes out?

i tried the leak as well, did not like it at all, full of bugs and other issues. not to mention I lost root and my radio as well. tried to go back to Saurom, ended wiping out my external SD card aw well. so my Titanium and CWM backups were gone too. worst of all, it soft bricked the phone. that was likely my fault, but what an ordeal.
yeah, i'm gonna wait on a real DEV port, leaks, not so good for me.
I just find the battery life sucks on ics.
I liked it too for a few days until my touch screen started to become unresponsive. It got so bad i had to touch icons 2-3 times to get anything to work. I didn't notice a difference in battery life, but I wasn't looking for it either. I went back to stock ( after a struggle) and then back to Saurom ROM, which runs every bit as fast for me as ICS, and without the problems I experienced. I got 3500 quadrant scores on leaked ICS, and thats what I average on Saurom without over clocking.
I also ran into the problem of a few apps force closing with ICS, and others not being compatible. The whole experience was actually good because it taught me how to root and flash my phone, and I learned much to the terminology from this forum. This is an awesome site.
Hi guys,
My Galaxy S died recently and instead of going the Galaxy S 2 or 3 I decided to try out the Razr since I also have a Xoom tablet.
Now, after reading over the threads, I am worried that....
a) I made the wrong choice and should have stayed with Sammy phones
b) That none of the custom roms seem to have everything on the phone working 100%???
Or have I misread whats going on with this phone?
Cheers in advance

hi,
short answer: no
long answer:
a) the RAZR itself is better manufactured than a samsung phone (no plastic case) and looks much better and looking for the hardware, the SGS2 and RAZR are on the "same" level...
b) you have to differ... there are ROM's that works 100% and than there are ROM's that doesn't...
- fully functional ROM's are mostly based on Android 2.3.5/6
- partial working ROM's are based on Android 4.0.3/4 but only on earlier leaked ROM's...
if you want some custom ROM now, try "The Arctic", it's fully functional
and if you just wait for some ICS, there will be some custom 4.0.4 ROM's sooner or later
PS: sorry for my miserable english i hope it's helpful
Many here seem to enjoy the razr, especially with the latest ICS leak.
The reason I installed the .79 leak last Thursday (.211 as of about an hour ago) is because I was sick and tired of waiting on Moto and Verizon. Personally, I'd go with the S3, but that's just me. I'm actually considering ordering it since I have a line eligible for upgrade.

Hi Sh4itan.. well both of you actually
Big thank you - this is what I wanted to hear.
Funny enough my family is from Germany so your answer is pretty much what I wanted to hear in that form!
With my SGS 1 I had a heap of different rom's, mods and hacks that I loved playing with (IT worker here) and so I had also figured out that the hardware of the Razr was on par and that was sweet - and while I also figured there might have been some GB ROM's with everything 100% - I had a moment where I was starting to think that ICS ROM's couldn't get everything going as GPS and tethering is also something I use heaps for my Xoom tablet. But then it is early days for the Razr as well
Thank you both again for the replies and I hope this thread helps anyone else wondering the same thing - altho from my point of view - I got no issues messing with it either hehe
Cheers!
There are a few ICS leaks that have been briefly mentioned on this site and others, and there are custom builds for those leaked images that are fairly solid.
I was running the .79 leak, with the Black Widow "ROM", and that was more stable than the stock GB release.
You have options, they just aren't as easy to install as some of the Samsung bits. Yet.
ICS was ready two months ago (.79 build date) in my opinion. I think Motonverizola is being silly about their QA process, and a lot of folks are getting (rightfully) POed.
Dont install the arctic rom.. it has many bugs after some time of usage

Yeah some reading has showed that ripping out the battery is not an easy task unlike the SGS and if you get boot looping you got issues lol
But I agreee - QA can get alot PO'd quick - and ta for the mention of the Black Widow ROM.
I will have to be a little more careful about flashing this one but then again - if I get that factory cable for flashing with RDSlite from what I can gather I should be covered.
I am using the ICS leak 211 and I can't find anything that doesn't work fantastic.
Fastest phone I have ever had in my hands.
Also if you get Apex launcher it works just like ICS launcher but is fully customisable.

at the cost of sounding like a troll...if u want the best stock ICS ROM...there is one by DroidTh3ory over at droidhive...I am using it and by far it is the BEST thing to have happened to my RaZr...
Yes, two things, if u are CDMA RaZr, u won't have issues. If u are GSM, WORRY NOT! there is a patch that will run the ROM just fine...
not working :
Video camcorder
HW acceleration...
but thats only a matter of time.... it kicks MotoBla in the nads to be very honest...heheheh..plz dont hate me all for saying this...I am just loving the stock ICS experience....
I thought i would amend my previous statement.
After using .211 for the day, I'm enjoying this phone. Right now, I have no complaints. I haven't found anything wrong with this leak (which sounds like it is ending up to be the official).
The razr is shaping up to be the phone that I expected it to be when I first got it back in December.

This morning there was a knock at the door with a nice man holding my new phone have to say stock - its actually not bad at all and I really am impressed with it after having a galaxy S with ICS on it and heaps of different versions in between.
It came with 2.3.5 on there, but I see there are already updates from Motorola up to 2.3.6.
I'll start there and keep it stock for a little bit then try out some of the roms above.
Thanks again all
I have a Motorola Droid Razr Maxx XP912 and have been using the rooted Verizon Blur 4.1.2. Yeah it is jelly bean and it is nice, but I wanted 4.3 and since the CyanogenMod 10.2 worked so well on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 GT-P5113, I wanted to use the same kind of ROM on my phone.I just love this CM10 ROM. It is good looking and so highly customizable that I cannot help but to love it. The good part is now in my tablet, I check for updates and Cyanogen will make updates available OTA and my tablet is always up to date and rocking.
(I broke the dammed digitizer outter glass once, got a new replacement on eBay for $21 and was happy as a clam. Doncha know I dropped it two days ago on way to doctor and broke it all over again? Another digitizer is on the way from China again, takes about 6 weeks to get here and is not that bad to replace.)
This rooted Verizon Blur ROM is great, does what I want, with Titanium and Greenify, I have gotten better at making it behave better, but I am stuck and cannot get updates for it, OTA has been disabled or I will lose my root. What I want is CM10.x for it. Tried 10.2, Safe Strap installed it easily with gapps, but no data service. Had to go back to CM10.1, now I got data and phone again. But a lot of my favorite and essential apps do not work anymore, like Wireless Tether for Root Users and some others like MeContacts. Now I find out from a decent fellow the following:
cyanogenmod has stop develop all phone with old OMAP...include our razr
We'll never see an official CM11 or a new stable 10.2
Oh crap, my favorite ROM and my phone are just never going to walk down the isle together. CyanogenMod with a Razr phone is not ready for prime time and it never will be. Shame, I spent days on making it the way I want it and was SO happy with myself, until I began to see way too many thing not work anymore.
I am on disability and money is forever a problem. Verizon would love to get me to update my phone, but always want to charge me like $200 to do it and then take another 2 year contract. The digitizer outter glass on this Razr has a very tiny crack but it is hardly noticeable and works quite well. So, what's it going to be? Update the phone to a better one (This one is slowing down pretty badly, does not run super fast like when it was new. Too many apps are always updating needing more horsepower and memory.) or pick a good ROM that I will like, that offers updating and new versions like CM, OR, update to a better phone and if so, what kind will be good and be around for a while? The Samsung Galaxy looks pretty sweet, big screen and a LOT of horsepower. What would you guys suggest?
I know, I know, I will get hundreds of different answers to this but the more, the merrier. Bring it on folks, what would you do? I am itching to get on with this so be forthcoming, please? What other ROMS are good for a Razr Maxx XT912 that would give me Jelly Bean 4.3, are very customizable, and produce regular updates and maybe even an updater service like Cyanogen is now offering? I love the fact that I can go to Settings/About, and check for new versions and updates and Cyanogen updates OTA. I cannot do this with my Verizon rooted 4.1.2 blur ROM or I will lose root and it is getting harder and harder to find exploits to gain root again. And NO, I do not want my phone to look or act like an iPhone!
Opinions, suggestions, personal experiences guys, please?
Try unofficial KitKat by dhacker or carbon or slim rom, all found in dev section
Edit : Carbon has the most modification options, it's worth a try

On last post 3G confirmed for Working!
install safe strap and so you can partition the phone and try out a bunch of roms without wiping your current. it's really handy. i prefer cm10.1.
I am thinking about switching a couple of my DINC 4g phones over to KitKat. What seems to be the smoothest and glitch free ROM out there? My understanding is that these KitKat roms take away the ability to switch to GSM when outside of the USA. What other glitches have folks run into? Too bad not more is happening on this great little phone.
All latest cyanogenmod (I use New nightly 4.4.4 kit Kat) works great if you want use dinc 4g with gsm network you must only flash simple gsm fix, I don't have any single random reboots, everything works perfect, smooth and fast. Only battery drain is little more then original Verizon Rom, but still acceptable
Wysłane z mojego Incredible 4G LTE
I switched to a Moto Razr Droid for a couple weeks until I couldn't take the sluggishness anymore. I found a well documented method to s-off and root the D4g, and took plunge. Like you, I wasn't sure how to find the most stable alternative to the HTC rom, so I picked CM 10.2 (4.3.1) from the CM download site and I couldn't be happier. I haven't noticed any downsides from the stock rom, and I just ordered an extended battery to address any power issues.(My stock battery was already draining in less than 8 hours with stock).
Since this is my main phone, I wasn't interested in a lot of experimenting. I have installed some unofficial CM 11 build on my original Dinc, but I personally think 4.3.1 worked better on that phone. I keep it in airplane mode and use it for occasional games, and the extended battery will last for weeks if it's not being used. It's amazing.
I think I will put CM 11 on my son's phone. All my family but me a running DINC4g phones except me. I wound up being sent a DNA from HTC when they were out of parts to fix a power connection on one of my DINC4gs. The battery life on the DNA is absolutely horrid after the update to KitKat. I rooted that one last night and put the latest Viper on it. If power continues to be an issue I will also go back to the DINC4g.
Eventually I will likely move all the DINCs to 4.4. It seems that that the CM developers are close and have a good rom now. I would suspect a stable release is not too far away. Thanks for your thoughts on this!
