I have the Samsung smart dock for my Verizon Note 2. Seems that I have lost HDMI and USB out from the dock. I went to Verizon and had the dock replaced and still no go. When I dock the phone it says HDMI cable connected but there is no video, I can connect a usb drive to the USBOTG cable and but works but not on the dock. This used to work fine. The phone is on stock 4.1.1 rooted. Any ideas? looks like there is some missing driver that is not recognizing the dock. Battery charges fine tho.
Try wiping and flashing your phone again. Something may be missing or corrupt.
That's what I am trying to avoid but might just have to do that. Thought someone may know of a file that would be missing.

Well I flashed the stock rom and all is well.

I am using a stock rom 16gig 10.1 unrooted but have had an issue where each time I use the keyboard dock and then attempt to plug in the usb adapter to the keyboard dock the keyboard ceases to function until I unplug and then plug back in.
I wish to use the keyboard dock's 30pin to play media off of a usb stick but this currently impossible. I have tried plugging in the usb adapter with no device, powered usb hub but still have had no luck.
The adapter does work very well when plugged directly to the tab however and I was wondering if anyone else had a similar issue?
If the question was already answered please send me a link to the relevant thread and sorry in advance if I missed it.
Issue fixed with Touchwiz it seems. I don't know if anyone else had the same issue with stock rom but I have rooted and installed the excellent Touchwiz rom and usb devices now work perfectly.

Hi,
I am using the latest Overcome 2.1.1 ROM and face the exact same problem. How would I be able to resolve this? Thanks in advance and apologies for sounding like a newbie but I have only recently started to use Android devices!
seems I can't charge my tablet unless I keep moving the charger around. if I need viewsonic to fix under warranty do I need to put the tablet back to the stock rom?? thanks

Yes. Technically they can deem the warranty void if it's not stock.
I just started having that same problem but its just a slight wiggle I have to do to get the charge light on. My wife was having the same problem with her laptop but it turns out it was just a worn connector on the old charger. Have you tried a different charger?
i do not have another charger to try. The tablet is only 6 months old though. This stinks!!!! I need to go find the thread about returning to stock. Do they look at data? If I return to stock, but all the data (titanium) is on there does it matter, or do I need to format the tablet?
Thanks!!!
If it's a hardware problem, more than likey they will just swap out the board & you'll get back a tablet will the same outer case but different internals. If you want to save your data/apps you better do it before you send it back.
Go here for instructions on returning to stock http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/
This just started happening to me, but I bought it JUST over 1 year ago.

You can charge through the doct port. You can get a dock here http://www.dhgate.com/wholesale/gtablet+dock.html.
Got mine back in July/Aug for $44...looks like they went up in price...$56 now. Recommended it to someone last week & they were $50.
I charge mine exclusively on the dock now (even though my port is fine). Gtab p/s powers the dock. Provides nice viewing angle when at the desk & I have a usb hub (with mouse, wireless keyboard, & thumb drive) connected to the dock usb port.
I also charge with a dock, becuase my charge port is also screwed. First I thought it was teh charger itself, so I got a new one, but then found out that it was the Gtab itself.
Save youfself the time and headaches and just get a dock.

Hi,
Just found how solve this issue I can't figure out if someone else did because I haven't done a search because I haven't much time so please forgive me if someone already posted this.
So basically is not the charger itself..
It's the usb cable. Stay away from not Samsung wall chargers because it seems to me a usb related problem.
I tried HTC Motorola old Samsung's.
No way to get rid of this. During a work session I had to use a wall charger from HTC but with a Samsung data cable because the HTC ones was missing.
Boom. No more problem with the screen.
So my experience seems to indicate that the usb contacts are the culprit.

Hello XDA, I have a question, I recently got a chinese tablet that runs a direct port of the original android version, which im almost certain dosent support USB Host, howeve the tablet has A USB host port. I am curious if theres an app out there that supports USB host for keyboards and/or Flash drives. I like the idea of just plugging in my flash drives and viewing/editing my files on the go when I dont have my computer with me.
Thank you
Have you tried plugging in a USB device?
My Elf has an Micro USB OTG port and it came with a USB->Micro USB adapter. So far only my wireless receiver for mouse any keyboard didn't work
I have tried a variety of device, im assuming that this tablet was just loaded with the very basic android OS

That makes me wonder if the device connecting to the phone/tablet has to be externally powered

Just did a bunch of test, in which the USB device only got power from the tablet.
-8 GB USB key works
-Cheapo Genius mouse works
-Less cheapo Razer mouse works (Wow, the DPI difference is amazing!)
-When connecting cheapo Genius mouse to tablet via USB hub, the mouse's laser light's up, but it doesn't work.
(What would happen if I were to connect my phone to my tablet? (inb4 they both blow up))

I wonder what the input is for the screen

No, it was plugged up to the charger I tore it down. Now I have a idea for the leftover parts. I've always wanted an android powered, touch screen head unit for my truck

Ok so everything i read says that it is not possible to hookup an MHL cable and then also use a OTG cable to hook up mouse keyboard etc. But isnt that exactly what they are doing with the smart dock?

Different circuitry inside the dock, I presume.
The MHL adapter has a singular purpose, to allow HDMI out and receive current from an AC Charger at the same time.
The Smart Dock has a whole different build. It doesn't have to be used as HDMI out, can be used as simple a kickstand and USB hub.

you can not charge ur note 2 with the OTG cable. different pin structure.
it will slowly charge with the MHL.
the dock should do it all at once.
Can I hook up a PS3 controller to the dock?
I would think so. Why is this sold out every where

niche product, try Verizon.. they have some
This dock might have interested me, but I am assuming that this won't work if you have ANY kind of case that wraps around or surrounds the microUSB port? Is this correct?
