There were some problems with OTA. Did you update the app after installing the base? Maybe that will solve the problem

I did the usual, factory reset, install the v 16. The update me smartphone app is still on there, which tells you of the update (just end up getting the apk for the new updater) so i unzip that one and the new program doesnt recognize the rom?
Try downloading the app directly from google playstore

Hey guys,
I just received a message saying that there is a new software update?? When I selected it it said my phone has the latest update. Did anyone get this thing? Do you think se is going to push 2.3.5?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I got it as well and got the same messages as you. ie. I already have the latest software
Not here i flashed to stock to see it...
@ nanodroid
Are you using stock ROM and/or kernel?
IIRC I noticed this behaviour already on stock 2.1 on my and my wifes X10.

Yes, at the moment I am using stock 2.3 rom and kernel. the only thing I flashed was the audio fix and the fps fix. I don't think they can cause this behaviour..
I am quite surprised because I never had this thing,I received this kind of messages before on the older roms and updated it ota, as they used to do,but it is strange. that's why I thought they were trying to push 2.3.5 or a minor update..

What product code have you? I just checked with mine but it says no update available.
Well I just checked using pc companion and it said that there is not sw updates. Maybe an error on the server? I didn;t see anything on their site. I just saw they are releasing an 'Arc S' with cpu 1.4 and some 3d features...
Hello,
After searching Google and the XDA site, I have been unable to find any threads/posts regarding this issue. I can't believe I'm the only one to have this problem, but...
A week ago I flashed a new ROM on my SGSII. I noticed today that when I go to Settings>About Phone>Software Update, nothing happens. It's as if I didn't touch it. I have used other ROMs in the past, but never noticed this. I don't think it is a bug or even a result of flashing the ROM as no one else has had this problem.
I'm using CHECKROM REVOHD V4 with the DarkKnight v2.5.2 kernel.
Would flashing the ROM again help?
All suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
First you need to be signed in to your Samsung Account to get OTA updates and secondly unfortunately if your not on a "stock" Samsung ROM and Firmware combo the OTA updates dont work.
Plus OTA seems to only work for a few networks so far .

Indeed, since you're not on a stock ROM, OTA will never work anyways. I froze Software Updater in Titanium, and this is the behavior I see. (clicking update does nothing) CheckROM may have frozen this by default.
I was actually signed into my Samsung account as I thought that might be the issue but I won't worry about it anymore.
Thank you all so much!
I recently purchased a new HTC Evo View 4G from an internet retailer. Everything works pretty well, including CDMA 3G Internet from Ukrainian provider Intertelecom, except that I cannot update firmware to Honeycomb.
When I try an option from menu "Firmware Update", I receive the following message "The firmware update could not be completed. Please try again later. If the problem persists, you may need to contact Customer Service. Error code: 1233.
I suppose, that my device was rooted, but I don't know, how to check it and whether there are other ways to update firmware.
Can somebody help my?
if you want to use the gps at all, don't update.
Same thing happened to me. I looked in the "Settings" and found out my Flyer had been rooted and a custom rom installed. The vendor apparently didn't know. I requested and received a new Flyer. Installed fine on the new Flyer.
Most likely my firmware is original. There are plenty of HTC apps, which successfully update, also sprint apps and so on. I can update just everything on this tablet, but firmware.
Apps and such don't matter, it could just be a custom/stock ROM. Do you have Superuser in your App Drawer? What does your Settings->About page say?
Haha . If you want honeycomb you don't click firmware update you click HTC software update !
I get the same message on completely stock. I think firmware update has a tie in with sprint services. I use it as wifi only.

I agree, all my apps were stock, but "settings" told the story. I was rooted and a custom rom was installed. This was a Bestbuy Flyer, so someone returned it and
vendor sold as new.

As I can see some regions have already got 1.18.701 or something like that OTA update. So people just tell me which one cause I still have 1.18.401.
It's not JB right?

No, just improvements to ICS. I'm just curious how far it went, hoping to find out when I could get one.

Just checked and got notification. Its the same old:
This update contains important enhancements and bug fixes, including:
- System performance and stability
- System security improvement
- Camera features enhancement
I wonder why they have to update camera features each time. I bet its more about first two.
Will report if i find anything new.
For now as far as I know India, New Zealand and Great Britain got it. I'm still waiting here at Serbia.

One more question for all of you, as I know on some other htc devices OTA files are stored on SD card, what about our device? After the last update I found nothing?
This is based on my experience, system enhancement update, there will be OTA.zip on sdcard which we can save somewhere else before we install the update (OTA.zip get deleted after we installed). When there is application update, no OTA.zip as it will be a normal apk download. (still we can save it somewhere else by copying it's from data/app)
I played with my friend's Evo 3D and he has a complete ICS Sense 3.6 update on sd card (300+MB). As I said I found nothing on mine.

I can't confirm about the big update from 1.14 to 1.18 because the DX my friend lent me to play around already updated when he gave me, only manage to save the OTA.zip when there was update from 1.18.707.1 to 1.18.707.3 (small update of 19 mb)
Eh.. this is funny. I already got the 1.18.707.3 updates since Jan 05.

I have disabled the auto check, and just did manual check and the update about 19.1MB was found and downloaded.
But, there was an error when it got into recovery to install the update. First it showed error that update file was not found on SD card. But as I have installed CWM6 revocery, I went into the SD/download folder and found the OTA zip there. I applied it, and it gave signature verification error, after disabling that now I get "assert failed: check_cid(getprop("ro.cid")..." (Status 7).
And install is aborted.
I have unlocked the bootloader and rooted my DX, and using CWM6 recovery posted in dev section.
Can anyone tell me how I can get this OTA get installed on my DX?
UPDATE: I found that CWM6 recovery I have was making the OTA fail. I downloaded recovery on this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35031493&postcount=25 and tried the update again. I worked perfectly once I flashed the stock recovery.
Thanks,

Okay so i applied the update and there is NO visible change, and those of you who may know about the white noise (hiss) problem, it is still there.
the only visible change is the version number changing to 1.18.7XX.3, XX being the region you are in and 3 being the third update so far.
please help me too

Can only imagine how long the JB update will take, assuming LlabTooFeR is correct about the update! Seriously crossing fingers.
I think we'll get it after One S.

So we're looking at around June/July I'd imagine for that. It will take until Feb easily to test One S in Singapore etc, then roll out across world, say end of March (being optimistic) then start Desire X.... Will take forever. I get the feeling we'll get the same crap as the old desire: here's a bloated dev rom we knocked together, install at your own risk, there's no space for apps etc. I got another HTC with a lot of reluctance tbh (budget decided it) and expect their usual level of contempt for updates / customer concerns.
Has anyone else been notified that there is an Android 5.0 System Update for their Nexus 9?

I had one also. Didnt care about losing root since it is easy to re-do. I took the OTA however it failed to install with "error". It put me back to my previous build and that was it. Update doesnt show as being available anymore. Oh well...
In order for the ota to work you need to be on the stock recovery, kernel and system files. Make sure you're on those and the ota works fine

I'm in the same boat. Just got my OTA notification but I'm hesitant to upgrade given the issues I've been reading. I'm 100% stock and unrooted running build LRX21L.
Any suggestions?

The new firmware works great. I'm not sure what issues you are reading about?
Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA Free mobile app
I've read of WiFi issues, lags and general hiccups with the new OTA. To be fair, most of the issues I read about were with older Nexus device (5, 7 and 10). I'll go ahead and upgrade with my fingers crossed...
Reverting to stock
I also rooted but have gained zero benefit this early on. Are the factory images out and is that the best way to be able to take the update?
Thanks for any help!

I had the same error.
Using the stock recovery diddent fix it for me.
I just downloaded the latest factory image from google.
And manualy flashed it to my nexus 9.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-9/general/videos-nexus-9-how-to-unlock-bootloader-t2935587
Look up the vid were he updates to the q update.
Just replace the files he uses with the latest factory image files from google.
What's interesting is that even with the error my system says it is on R now. I then rooted again and my tablet seems to be running fine. I debated just wiping it out and flashing the stock image, I'll do that if I ruin into any strange problems...
