The carton image is the recovery splash screen. But since it doesn't load recovery, something must be wrong.
You can try unbricking methods, but I think you should make sdcard bootable cwm recovery and flash a cyanogen mod Rom.
Look for guides, links, etc in development section.

If you'd like to restore to stock, some info/tools can be found at https://github.com/succulent/acclaim_recovery_sdcard.
Before you consider using any of the so-called "unbrick" tools/methods, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37515697&postcount=31.

[Q] Permanent White Screen at Startup - help!

Hi All,
I've done a full search, but cannot find another thread on this - if I'm wrong then please accept my apologies!
Anyway - when I start my HD2 I get nothing - just a blank white screen. It's running stock WinMo 6.5, and nothing else.
My 1st thought - screen is borked. But no - hard reset and FlashRom screens are both fine. Tried a soft-reset, no joy. In desperation I tried a hard reset; the screen says complete - but computer says 'no'. Still the white screen of death!
To add insult to injury my micro USB port has stopped working and I have to use an external battery charger so there's no chance of being able to load a new ROM or anything.
Can anyone suggest anything?
Thanks!

One and only one thing comes to mind. You must continue to charge when you boot this even if your battery is 100%. Use power cord to turn on NT and keep it powered for the entire time. It (ubuntu) freaks without power and shuts down!
I hope this is your problem if not please tell more including which NT 8 or 16 gig, etc.
Good luck!

um, i know you're all stressed out, we've all been there ( me too ), but the guy above me is right. . . plz give us more information. . if it won't boot internal, will it boot boot something up on the external sd card ?
at some point, my nook just didnt start up, it went into the "restart your nook" scree
it boots from sd. and after i installed cyanogenmod 9 again, it didnt boot into it
i tried something else and i got this:
booti: bad boot image magic (in memory)
are you a 8GB or a 16 GB unit ?
is it true you are installing cm9 internal ?
you try to fix and now the internal is corrupt ?
16, and i dont know what happend, the onlything i know is i tried to reinstall cm9 back on

ah, the the senior devs in the dev area who created this cm9 -- made it a 'Cinderella rom', ie. it flat quits working on purpose. . they did it because some evil guys were selling the alpha code as a finished product. . so all people who run the cm9 rom have to go back and install the next cm9 version from their post...
installed alpha 3. didnt do anything. still "please restart your device"
i wiped all of the data on every partion, then installed cyanogenmod 9
still does it

if ( and a very big "if", ie. do not assume ) your partitions are corrupt ( from a past step gone bad ) then you have to go thru the partition re-build step ( in the dev area ) . . but can you boot up in ubuntu and examine your partitions first - see what shape they're in ?

i do not have the experience to help with a corrupt partition. ( if it is a corrupt one ) . i have not had to fix / repair a corruption on my unit . . i was lucky that the adam outler restore ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1470910 ) fixed mine and it went back to a factory boot-up . . my thought is that your NT is not corrupted because the boot is working . . the boot just fails to load the next piece . . ( i took some time and read over the 'partition repair' posts and they scared the hell out of me ! . http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1605664&highlight=damaged+partition+table ) my advice is to not re-format. do not re-partition. the senior people see the new people dive into un-necessary ( wrong ) steps way too early / often. . the senior people say they see 'relatively easy' fixes turned into a mess. . http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1635116
.
if the steps seem too much or are going nowhere... . do you have a large B&N store in your area ?

from notes – safe nt recovery with cm7 sdcard:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1481826
make cm7 sdcard boot and setup.
install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458630
Nook Recovery Flasher.apk
Run Nook Tab Recovery Flasher and select Install Stock Recovery, exit program.
Power off. Remove sdcard.
Press power and n key and hold 2 seconds after screen is lit. Release power.
After 1 second longer release n and you should get data reset. Press n key twice to accept.
If lucky your trouble will be cleared if not then hard reset.
Power off. Remove sdcard if installed. Hold power and n till screen lit and continue to hold till screen goes black. Do this eight times. Ninth time use power as normal and when you see recovery press n key twice to accept full factory reset.
Good Luck!

I have and a nook tablet and i tried to install CM7 with CWM, but something went wrong. I have no idea what happened. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

To restore your nook tablet we have 4 threads, actually 5 counting with this one about UNBRICK your device, only Adam's total wipe does not support 8GB model the rest do. So you gotta read and post in the respective thread if you get stuck or have any issues with the proper UNBRICK method.

Boot stops at N Logo

Hey Community,
sorry for my bad english im from germany.
Yesterday i became my Nook Tablet (second-hand). I rootet it and it was full functionable. Today i would reset it. After the reboot, the Tablet Stops at the N Logo- after a few seconds the display is black. I dont know why....
Can anyone help me please.
Greetings from Germany
I can't tell you why it happens, but I can tell you that it happened to me as well. I had to take it back to a Barnes & noble. It wouldn't turn on all the way, just like yours, so they replaced it under warranty. Worth a try, I suppose.

Did you use Indirect's root method? If so he posted an UNROOT utility which perhaps you should have run before trying to go back to stock using BN factory reset (Is this what you mean be "reset"? guessing this is what you did but maybe you mean you just tried turning it back on). If you tried to revert to stock it is my understanding that unless you UNROOT evidence of your root attempt will still exist even if you successfully factory reset. Maybe not doing the UNROOT caused your problem if you mean you were trying to go to stock?
Anyway, I'm sure I recall others who has the same problem in the past and there is a fix. First, if you are stuck on black (but machine is on) you can try shutting it down by pressing the power button AND the N button together 8 times. Also if you let the battery drain it will turn off itself. No guarentees it won't do the same when you turn it in again. Try to get into clockwork mod by pressing power, volume up and N button simultaneously...hold for a while until you maybe get that open, if it still exists on your system. If you can get in, there are instructions in the threads on how to fix ur problem using clockwork mod I believe. You just have to search!
Good luck!

I HARD-BRICKED my Samsung Galaxy Ace (GT-S5830i) :/

Hello everyone in XDA forums ,
I don't really remember what exactly was the thing that I did in which I hard-bricked my Samsung Galaxy Ace (GT-S5830i), but it was a combo of rooting and then (OS)s installations... I rooted the phone successfully and as far as I remember I could even flash a KitKat firmware, but then it got bricked at some point after trying to flash some Cyanogenmod firmware [USING ROM MANAGER]... YES, I got to know that it's terrible to use ROM Manager for that purpose on the ACE but that was after I bricked my phone -_- (I still don't know why though; anyways...)
My smartphone is currently hard-bricked, meaning that I can't access download mode, recovery mode, or even fastboot mode; and I can't see a single thing on the screen (not even the Samsung Logo or the so-called "Yellow Triangle" , or even the Android Logo)... The only sign that my phone is still working (AND NOT AT ALL HARDWARE-DAMAGED) is the color of the screen which is (well you can say purple or kinda grey; also known as the background light/brightness)... I've tried the following:
1- All the normal button combos in all possible ways and conditions.
2- The (removing the battery, connecting the device to the PC/Laptop, clicking a button combo, and then inserting the battery while still holding the button combo) method.
3- I even tried the adb method, the SP Flash Tool method, and using a Jig.
So practically my main problem is that my phone can't even get to any mode and that it can't be recognized by any PC/Laptop not even after installing the drivers properly or changing the cables... If I just could get my Laptop to recognize it or even just get to the download mode without even having my Laptop to recognize it, then I'd be easily able to solve the whole problem.
P.S: PLEASE don't tell me that it's hardware-damaged or that I need to go to Samsung, cuz IT IS NOT HARDWARE-DAMAGED AT ALL and under the VERY SAME circumstances many people could unbrick their hard-bricked devices, and one of which is the Samsung Galaxy S3, just because they have an alternative method to boot (including the "booting from SD Card using a debrick image" method); and my warantee is void a VERY LONG time ago, since I bought the phone like 5 years ago.
Even if a software solution is still not known to the community it still is possible to unbrick my phone using a JTAG Repair device.
I really hope that somebody would be able to help me in solving this dilemma with a software method... Thank you anyways, and have a nice day / good night.
Similar brick here on my S5839i. I did something stupid and flashed everything including bootloader from a galaxy Y (S5360).
Now its not responding to any button combos,
When turned on I get a blank screen, then the camera LED blinks and the touch buttons light up and it stays on the blank screen.
If I can just get into download mode somehow it should all be fine.
My last hope now is to try a jig when I get my hands on one.
Also when plugged in, its recognized by windows as BCM21533-Thunderbird
Maybe anyone has been in a similar state and could help please?
Thanks
