Space and Time Rom (With dorimanx) + second rom = bootloop? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have got an sgs2 (GT-i9100) and use cm10.1 nightly from 13.01.13 with dorimanx kernel v7.44. This kernel gives me the opportunity to have a second rom. So I decided to install a rom with touchwiz called space and time v2.6.0, because it has some cool and useful features. But after installing as second rom I landed in a bootloop with these ugly starships.
So I tried to install as first rom after making backup of my cm rom and everything worked. Now I just had to restore my backup as second rom. I did and... Dang! Space and time in bootloop again, but second rom (cm10.1) worked.
I thought the restore causes the problem. So I started from the beginning first cloned my first rom (cm10.1) to second rom and now installed space and time as first rom. But now I had no more second rom. I think that happened because the s&t installer installs dorimanx again.
So my question is: What did I do wrong? (maybe my mistake is, that I didn't fix the root, like it's said in the installing introduction after flashing, but I cannot find the that option in cwm). Does somebody have the same problem? Or am I just to stupid?
Thank you for answering and forgiving me my bad English.

Factory reset between different roms, and cache wipes, including dalvik.

AW: Space and Time Rom (With dorimanx) + second rom = bootloop?
I did. Same results. It's strange because I have heard that the different roms won't touch the other in a video. But here it seems that doing something in second rom leads to a bootloop in the first rom.
Any other tricks?

I also tried with another rom and same results again. Maybe dorimanx is the problem. I'll try with siyah

I did a quick bit of research.
"NOTE: This kernel is for AOSP / AOKP / JB-AOKP / CM9 + CM10 + CM10.1 / cMIUI (Only) / Sense 4 All / SAMSUNG ICS + JB Stock ROMs (The JB Leak XXLSJ it's supported from v7.37, JB Official XWLS8 supported from 7.44)"
If i understand, they both use the same kernel though...On galaxy sii root, it says at the start of the video "please do not flash [touchwiz s/t] on anything other than your INTERNATIONAL galaxy s ii... But then you say you've tried another rom with no success.

Thank you so much
ok, so dorimanx does not support touchwiz roms in dualboot mode? it works if it's the single rom and there's no second.
I already talked to someone who wrote the space and time thread in xda. He said that someone is making it working. I have also read a thread in which XWLS8 is the problem, but i cannot find the thread now.
I found the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2120514
I had no time to try the long way yet, but the second way with the modified updater-script.zip did not work.

From that quote, it does in fact look like dorimanx supports touchwiz, which is a samsung ics or jb rom. Do you have an international version of the sii?

AW: Space and Time Rom (With dorimanx) + second rom = bootloop?
Sorry i don't know exactly. It was originally branded by tmobile Germany (modem was i9100BOLP7 I think)
I have got a screenshot of pda, phone and csc stuff I made before rooting, but uploade doesn't work.

Hellraise GT-I9100 Jellybean for SGH-I777

This thread is to help people hellraise a GT-I9100 Jellybean 4.1 rom for use on our AT&T Galaxy S2 SGH-I777.
Get what you need as of August 1, 2012:
1.) Download a Jellybean 4.1 or 4.1.1 rom from the GT-I9100 forums. (NOTE: do not use from the I9100G, the hardware is different)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1055
2.) Download a JB compatible SGH-I777 kernel. The following have compatible versions:
- Dream Kernel ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1788148 )
- Siyah Kernel ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592228 )
3.) Download a CM9 SGH-I777 modem (this is AOSP based and needs a CM modem)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1336958&highlight=cm7+modem
4.) Download the Hellraiser zip I have attached to this post. This adds the needed keylayout and lib files for the SGH-I777.
Move the files to your internal SD card on your phone.
INSTALL ORDER:
1.) Boot into CWM recovery and do a Wipe/Factory Reset, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik Cache, Format System.
2.) Install the Jelllybean GT-I9100 rom zip (Note: if the rom uses AROMA installer, do not reboot after install)
3.) Install the SGH-I777 Jellybean compatible kernel.
4.) Install the Hellraiser zip from this post to get the correct keylout for you SGH-I777.
5.) Install the SGH-I777 CM modem. (all JB roms at this date are CM10 based)
6.) REBOOT and get you some Jellybeans!
Credits go to Team Skyfire for the Dream Kernel, Ktoonsez and Gokhanmoral for the Siyah Kernel, RockRatt for the modems, and drakester09 for the keylayout and lib files in the Hellraiser zip attached. Thank these awesome devs every chance you can get!!
Thanks for putting together these directions.
Does this hellraiser package also change the build id back to i777 or will it still be i9100?
Because the original ROM creator may have tweaks in the build.prop I figured it best to leave the device I'd alone.
You can manually change the build.prop to show SGH-I777 if you need it.

Yes, I'm currently using the 20120801 release from GT-I9100 CM10 thread from below. I did have to change the build.prop before it would flash via CWM. The easiest way I found to do that was to run it through Flash-aholicsTool and just check mark strip out device specific script calls and change device name to I777. (I did not check Hellraise option) Then follow the directions in the OP.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1794758
I am on my 3rd GT-I9000 JB ROM and I use this method. It is not a tool just an easy way to add the proper key layout and libs for SGH-I777.
I manually select the build.prop with Root Explorer to edit in text editor.

Just wanting to verify if I'm using a GT-I9000 JB ROM that is hellraised would I use a kernel WITH mic swap or WITHOUT?
I'm assuming that it would be WITH mic swap.
Thanks.

With mic swap is for AOSP based like CM10 or for a GT-I9100 ROM.
Without mic swap is only for AT&T leaks/ROMs like LE5 or LD3.

Hello my friends, i followed all the tutorial, but when i will install the Jelllybean GT-I9100 rom zip i get this erro message:
Error in /sdcard/cm-10-20120801-EXPERIMENTAL-i9100-CODEWORKX.zip

My galaxy S2 is the i777 from AT&T and i think i did all the tutorial right!
What do you think is going on?
Thank you!
Using Entropys ICS Hellraiser, I packed it with The Dream JB Kernel and a new modem. So all you have to do is flash this after you flash a i9100 ROM and it does everything for you http://db.tt/dEfrVjGB

You need to go into your build.prop and chage GT-I9100 to SGH-I777 & I9100 to I777. Or extract the build.prop from the cm10 zip and replace the one in your phone with it.

This solution will work and is essentially the same as what I described in the OP.
My method is just a bit longer with the exception of choice in the future of newer kernels and modems that may be created.
As for the status 7 error...you need to unzip the JB ROM you have chosen and edit out any device scripts in the install that check for a GT-I9100 OR you need to edit your current ROM's build.prop to show GT-I9100 instead of SGH-I777 BEFORE you reboot into recovery to flash the JB ROM.
Some ROMs have a device script that verifies you are flashing to the "proper" device.

Did you get the Siyah CM10 Test Kernel or the normal ICS 3.5.1 version? I would bet the 3.5.1 ICS version. My apologies...I should have been more specific.
As far as I can tell, the Siyah kernel generated by Ktoonsez for the SGH-I777, has separate ICS and JB versions. The GT-I9100 Siyah kernel is version 3.5.2 and seems to be for BOTH ICS and JB roms but that is only for that phone.
At this time, Ktoonsez' Siyah has mic swap and no mic swap versions for ICS 3.5.1 but the CM10 test kernel seems to be without mic swap, which would cause your call audio to be low since the top mic is being used instead of the bottom mic. Without mic swap is only for AT&T leaked roms (and we all know AT&T won't be releasing JB to us anytime soon). Please go thank or donate to Ktoonsez anyway because you know he will be on top of this in the future. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592228
I would highly recommend the Dream kernel WITH mic swap. This should fix your problem. Don't forget to Thank or Donate to Team Skyfire if you use their kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1788148
I am using the 2.6.9 version of the Dream kernel (with mic swap) with great results. For some reason, which is explained in their thread, 2.6.9 is actually newer than their 3.2.9 version. Something to do with the TWRP recovery for one and not the other.
Please let us all know your results using the proper kernel.
Thank You very match. I flashed Dream kernel and it works fine.
Thanks for your grate jobs.
Hailraising i9100 SuperNexus rom
Hi,
Can someone please help me hailraising the Supernexus rom released yesterday in i9100.
link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1810042
I tried to hailraise it using the scripe you provided. When I tried to install it failed with bunch of build.prop mismatch and status 7 error. So as suggested earlier, I extracted its build.prop and edited it to match our device, but still it fails with same error. My proficieny in this area ends here and don't know what else to do here !!
I'm really interested in this build, as this is the only rom thats not based on cm10 exp build , but its made from the aosp source code directly and thus I hope it solves my media scanner issue and I could have a jb rom to work with.
Thanks !!!

Sounds like the ROM doesn't have the Mali updates. It will work without Siyah, or you can use a non-mali version of Siyah.

Doesn't matter what version of kernel you use from my understanding... (as long as it's for this phone)
Flashing the ROM, via CWM, will overwrite whatever kernel is installed with its own kernel.
Something is wrong, true. But I don't believe it to be Siyah or SuperNexus.
Have you tried re-downloading SuperNexus and flashing the new dl? You may have had a bad dl.
Oh, and if I'm wrong about anything, please correct me. Always willing to learn!

3.Boot into recovery
4. wipe, dalvik cache
5. flash siyah.
6. Reboot
thank you everyone, I'm tired to see my phone go blank again, I read some posts saying siyah gives better battery life than the kernel included in the ROM, which was the reason I wanted to try it, I have tried siyah with older supernexus ROM and currently using built in kernel and notice no difference, I guess I should try it before asking it here, thanks again everyone for ur support.

[Q] Battery shake retain

Hi,
I downloaded I9100XWLS8_I9100FOPLS3_FOP official rom that i have install on my galaxy s2 with wiped cache and data (new fresh install)
I rooted galaxy with Siyah-s2-v6.0b4 using oding + install triangle away since google apps.
I noticed 2 bugs, when i'm charging, when i press and retain scroll with one finger, screen shaking.
And when i'm unlocking s2 on home screen it's seems laggy.
There is a way to patch it without installing custom rom ? (I wanna prefer use offficial ICS)
How i can fix it ? Where i can report these bugs ?
Thank you for your replies

That rom is JB, not ICS so if you prefer ICS you need to flash different rom.
Its not a bug and if it was you would report it to samsung.
Try formatting /system in cwm and then re-flash rom.
First of all you are not using official ICS.
You are on official Jellybean, bugs are to be expected since this a new firmware. All the bugs will be solved as soon as more versions of jellybean come out. You will need to be patient or
If you want more stable firmware, you will need to downgrade to ICS.

Did you read what I wrote?
Its a official rom, If you want to report a bug email Samsung.
I didnt have this issue in stock sammy JB or a custom rom based on it like Wannam lite.
As I said earlier try formatting /system partition via CWM and then re-flash rom.
You could also try Siyah kernel v6 beta 4 or even a custom rom based on JB like Wannam lite.

Quick Dual Boot Question

Hey Guys, Im coming here and well modifying my phone after a long time..I have forgotten few things and just want to reconfirm 2 things about dual booting(as i want to install a new rom side by side). My current kernel is siyah 6.0vb5(the last beta produced for s2). I currently have alliance rom v9 installed which is based on 4.1.2. SO:
1. I wanna dual boot omega rom v24 which is also based on 4.1.2. I can do this dual booting legally right on my siyah kernel version?
2. How does the internal data storage work in case of both the roms? For example, i play temple run on first rom as well as on second rom, so will their save data be saved separately or will be shared?
Thanks for replies in advance
1. You cannot dualboot any jb 412 rom out of the box. It has to be modified but there are modded Roms ready to download. Dorimanx is the kernel for dualbooting jb Roms.
Here you find lots of Roms already prepared:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44449811
2. I think they have different data if they dont link to a server.

Not even if my first rom is a custom rom? Alliance rom v9 currently..
Edit: ok i got it, but i jist have 1 question now..For dual booting, should my second rom be dualboot modified or the first rom? or both?
If you want two jb roms both need to be modified since 4.1.2 uses preload where your second rom would be. If you have a 4.2.2 or 4.3 you dont need to mod it since they dont use preload.
In short: if you want alliance as first rom you must download it premodded and install it. Then you install premodded neat as second rom. If you would use cm aokp or pa rom you dont need to mod it. It works as it is.

Ok so u mean to say if i want to install Resurrection remix 4.2.2 as second rom,i can install it as it is right? No need to have either alliance modded or RR moded?
No you cant. Your alliance( IF not modded) is already using preload so you will probably mess up things. There is alliance v9 modded which i used as second rom. Works well. Dont know IF you can get ota downloads though.
I guess you have to backup your data with TB and wipe your current rom(make nandroid first) and install modded alliance. Make sure it works both as first and secrom first since with the thread i linked before. I always use 422 , 4.3 in first and 412 in second, because at first there wasn't 412 for first ROM so it kind of stuck. RR you can flash as it is. No modding needed.

Dual booting

hey guys, just signed up so please excuse my ignorance if this has been answered, redirected previously.
ive been using slimbean as my daily driver and love it without any problems. but for work i require something with slightly better battery management hence through my research it seems like 'ressurection remix' rom would be a good bet.
i currently use a s2 i9100 and wish to dual boot slimbean (as main) and ressurection remix (as secondary).
i understand siyahs latest kernel has issues with dual booting so with perhaps the older one 'SiyahKernel S2-v5.0.1', my question would this be possible ?
or perhaps a different kernel... again.. this is new to me and i would appreciate any direction or advice. i appreciate dual booting is always under construction...
thank you..
*zem
(would prefer a response before i start flashing stuffs, please dont question the why but i am seeking the howto)
unsucessfull
flashed siyahs latest beta kernel following the instructions....
flashed kernel.
booted cwm
setup second rom
installed second rom
reboot
home key, selected second rom... blank screen.
not working for me. ( if that had of worked i was going to swap first and second roms because after installing the siyahs kernel slimbean failed to boot. (blank screen after siyahs logo).
will try previous version..... i believe if this fails i will have to wait for siyah to 'fix' dualboot as is said in his latest beta. please correct me if i am wrong.
To be able to boot 4.2 and 4.3 you need dorimanx kernel. That would be 9.xx version. For JB 412 you need 8.4x version. Dorimanx is the kernel to use IF you dualboot newer Roms.

thank you..

first flash siyah latest v6.0b5 and then flash the latest dorimanx kernel using the cwm.
Dorimanx is the best bet and would easily dual boot the roms you mentioned
Flash the latest dorimanx kernel v9.43 and you wil be good to go
Gud luck mate
