Updating the DNA on AT&T - HTC Droid DNA

Hey all,
So I'm using the DNA on AT&T and it works great. My question is, how do I go about getting the new software update that's being pushed out to other users while I'm on AT&T? For some reason, my DNA won't pick up the OTA on AT&T, and even sticking an old, deactivating Verizon SIM in it won't work either. I've also tried just using no SIM on wifi and checking for the update but still nothing. Any way I can download the RUU or something? Thanks!

how to unlock network AT&T

I think you can just download the update. Zip on the server and then flash it to your phone and you will have the update I know people over seas are probably going to do it that way since they can't get the ota in another country where there is no service.

Wouldn't flashing a zip require root? Or are you taking about an RUU? I'm not rooted and don't plan to be, just want the ota.

[Q] OTA updates for ATT phones?

i have a ATT phone which is unlocked and on other network. i was wondering if ATT phones have to be on ATT if they were to receive OTA updates?
reason i ask is i have a ATT HTC one X+, and it hasnt received notification for any update, where as there as a update released few days back.
if some one can shed some light on this, i'll really appreciate.
same might be true for other phones which are carrier unlocked and not on their origional carrier.
an OTA update would have to come from at&t. You could try downloading the update from HTC and see if it will install but I have no clue if that would relock the phone.

ota or installing fresh RUU from HTC wont relock.
but what i was trying to ask is that if i am using say ATT HTC ONE X+ ( or any other ATT network unlocked phone) on tmobile, will we get OTAs?
No you will not get an ota update from Att while on T-Mobiles network.

Used DNA, no 4g!!

I bought a DNA used off eBay. It came to me with the bootloader unlocked and s off. I toss my SIM card in and it connects to 3g fine, but 4g refuses to even try and come up. Troubleshooting steps taken below:
1. Switched from the sense 5 Rom that was installed to viper, no go
2. Flash the newest radio, no go
3. Try global mode, cdma/LTE mode, LTE only mode, no go
4. Flash a stock rooted Rom, no go
5. New SIM from Verizon store, no go
6. Swap Sims with a co workers DNA (which has 4g), his DNA gets 4g with my SIM but I don't get 4g with his.
7. Try to RUU, it keeps telling me installed software is 2.06, errors out with error 158, no go.
Any other ideas? I might just return it to the eBay seller.
Is there a limitation to using the RUU? Do you have to be on 1.15 everything to use it?

Not sure what that means. I'm coming from a droid 4 which was limited to pretty much just flashing roms, so this is my 1st real experience with flashing radios/kernels/hboots etc. He was previously using it on T-Mobile, but I don't see how that would effect anything. The seller agreed to take it back for a full refund, but I'm willing to try a few more things before I ship it back (unless it risks bricking)
EDIT: I'm retarded. You mean flash the boot image separately? Yeah I tried that with the DNA toolkit as well as manually. Fastboot crashes with the toolkit, and doing it manually with fastboot gives me errors. I think there is just something wrong with the phone. I've tinkered with a GNex before with fastboot and had no issues flashing anything.
Try an app from the playstore that turns off an on different parts of the radio. You can specifically choose just LTE. If it turn on its the software, if not, (obviously) it's the hardware

I had tried from the phone settings menu, whatever one the LTE On/Off app brings you to and no dice. It just sits at disconnected.
The settings are very limited. I had a similar problem, and I downloaded the lte on/off app by "tapbase" and I was able to discover that my lte radio works afterall. Try it, its free.

The H-boot on the phone has to match the H-boot of the RUU The old H-boots and radios are posted elsewhere in the forum
I'm having the exact same problem with an Ebay phone! I've tried a new SIM, a few ROMs, and upgraded the radio.
Hope I'm not off topic or breaking any rules so in the event I might please pm me op. I might have a different suggestion all together.

Thanks for the help but I was able to get a full refund from the seller. There is someone else in the the thread who is having the exact same problem so maybe he wants to PM you.
You need to use a brand new sim from a vzw store. Take it up to the store and you will be good. Fixed my friends at least. He tried my working SIM to and he only had 3g

Worked for me. I used my nexus for a while and if screwed my SIM up somehow for my DNA. New sim will more thab likely fix it. It did for me

I was having the same problem as the OP. I tried a new SIM too. I ended up having to lock the bootloader, return the phone completely to stock, and then accept the latest OTA update. After that, I was able to get 4G. Then I unlocked the phone again, put a TWRP recovery on, and then I flashed a Sense 5 M7 ROM. It kept 4G! This has been a real pain-in-the-butt process, but it worked.

This process worked for me too. It didn't work until doing the OTA. Thanks!

Do I need to worry about not being able to root?

Hey guys and gals, I am coming over to T-Mobile from Verizon on Thursday, and most likely getting the HTC One in the process.
Maybe this is a Verizon thing, but sometimes when you accept an OTA update, it will break root, relock the bootloader and you are stuck without root if you take the update.
Do I need to worry about that on T-Mobile and the One? In other words, when I'm in the store purchasing the phone, should I try and stop them from running any updates? Or can I root regardless?
Thanks!

If you root on tmobile then you won't get any OTA updates, so that's a moot worry. Luckily the updates pop on here pretty quickly so you can simply sideload them.

I understand that and I totally intend to root my phone. But what if the sales rep runs the update on the phone while activating it? Will I still be able to root and s-off?

I'm happy without root. Only thing that I hate is that I can't get rid of kids mode, that water game, carrier iq, and lookout. However, because I have the premium handset protection I got the paid version for free recently which is nice.
As well as the T-Mobile apps visual voicemail (i want to use Google voice and can't) , T-Mobile tv, and the name id app that has since expired from the trial period which is stupid if you ask me. Spend $600 bucks and can't get something like that free.

You can disable Lookout and the T-Mobile apps in Settings > apps > all
Scroll down and find them one-by-one, click on the app, click "disable"
wala!

Updating without Verizon service?

I'm using a DNA on At&t and I cant get the update even when I switch it to CDMA mode.
Do i have to actually manually download the update and install it?
Yeah you must be on Verizon to get the update. So that's probably the only way you can get it applied.

I put my Verizon activated sim card from my s4 back into my dna. I check for update but nothing comes up. How long should it take for the network to see the DNA and push out the update?

I'm on Cricket Wireless.. How do I get AT&T updates?

Does anyone have any advice with this? I heard AT&T released an update not long ago to allow the fingerprint reader play nice with phone cases.. How do get this update if I only have cricket?

Hmm, have you tried removing you sim and trying to get the update over wifi? Not sure if that would work, or how you would do it. Also maybe keep an eye out for someone to grab and post the AT&T update zip
I have an old AT&T Sim card. I might try popping it in the v10 and see if that works.

Ok Kool, keep me posted. I have an unlocked T-Mobile Note 5 that I may end up using on Cricket
Come to think of it, my Note5 has a bad IMEI on T-Mobile, but it did do an update over wifi
Any news with this?
I tried using an old AT&T Go prepaid Sim card and had no luck with it.
I think I'm just going to sell this phone and very an unlocked phone since the v10 I have is for AT&T and I have cricket.
