For anyone who's got a creaky back cover, and for whatever reason you can't get another one, here's something to try to get rid of it. I don't know if it applies to all phones/creaks, but it makes sense for this to be the location of the creaky back cover on the amaze. On the back cover, at the bottom just before there's a break to the phone's body, the lip looks like it curves around too much (see circled area on attached pic), and makes contact with the frame of the phone, causing it to squeak as it slides over it. Could be either side, but mine was on the left, facing the phone.
Looks like when they made the back cover, they machine a lot of the inside, but don't contour the shape of the frame, so this is typical with any kind of metal forming. Anyway, my spare cover had the creak, so I used a knife to shave the aluminum. Just shave that little bit of corner off (see attached pic), and only do a bit at a time, and test it after you remove any, you don't want to be gouging the thing. Anyway, I took off a minimal amount from my cover and the squeak is gone.
So there it is, I expect some flaming , but for those who love modifying your phone with a butter knife, or like I said can't get a new cover without buying one, try this, and I hope it helps somebody out.
Cheers, to HTC quality

Lmao I just put a microfiber cloth ontop of the battery and it fixed it. Also had the same issues with a lot of blackberrys.
I have a piece of black electrical tape on top side of my batteries. Problem seems to go away. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah im just not a fan of paper, cloth etc. Theyre all insulators, this way theres some air between the batt & cover
Great job!

Thanks a lot, it worked great. I shaved off a tiny bit, and no more squeaks. :victory:
haven't done anything yet as i'm waiting for my replacement device to get here but will do this upon receipt. thanks for the pointer!
scotch tape did it
I put a small bit of scotch tape on that corner. The squeak is gone and now it's tight again with no play.
Oh crap, I though I was the only one with a creaky cover. I got some creaking on the top left corner of my Amaze. Ill try it out later today.

Hey all,
I bought an S View case from Best Buy about 2 weeks ago when I got my Note 3. It's been okay, but I think as much as I've wanted to like it, I'm just not happy. The flap never wants to stay closed, the overhang makes it feel unprofessional, but my biggest complaint is that it seems to be scratching my screen.
The bottom and right edge of the window has left a seemingly permanent line of scuffing on my phone's screen. I can wipe it off with a cleaning cloth and it disappears, but as soon as rub over it with my finger, the smudge reappears. Has anyone else noticed this? I'm definitely returning the case finally, and I think I'm going to try to get an exchange on my phone. Will Best Buy replace my phone for this issue do you think? Thanks
Edit: Proof.

Are you sure you got the genuine S View cover? I don't have the issues you mentioned here. The 1st S View in S4 doesn't close fitly but this is not the case in Note 3. Even after a prolonged turning the flip backward, it will still close nicely. And the window of the S View doesn't scratch the front fascia or the screen of my Note 3
Well I bought it directly from a Best Buy store, and it has a genuine Samsung sticker on the packaging and everything. Pretty sure Best Buy isn't selling knockoff cases...
No one else has experienced this? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Will Best Buy give me an exchange for my phone?

You might have gotten a defective cover, if it caused harm to your device ask for a replacement on both.

Using the s-view cover since one month, no problem whatsoever.
I noticed the markings too, fortunately I got rid of mine after a couple of weeks. They don't stay closed either, they're all like that, especially if folded back behind the phone for any period of time my white case would immediately flip fully open (mine was genuine too, bought from Verizon).
Best Buy won't exchange it, but gave me a Samsung number to get it replaced since it was caused by the Samsung case. Samsung won't exchange it, because apparently I damaged it myself? How on earth am I actually stuck with a scuffed up phone that I did nothing but baby for a week with the official Samsung case? Where the heck do I go from here?
That is a horrible story. I have the sview case and I'll stop using it now...

Here's a photo of the damage.
Please beware, this is a huge issue. If you aren't using a screen protector, stay far away from this case.

Honestly it sounds like some dust is getting stuck between the cover and your screen while its in your pocket. the pressure most likely is causing the dust/sand to scrape the glass in very specific motions. I was using the leather Folio inscipio case and got scared that would happen (The case also started to break apart... Inscipio is way overpriced considering how garbage this case was. the plastic bumper started breaking in multiple places, chunks broke off, etc.) I live in southern Arizona, so i didnt want to take the chance of sand shredding my screen.
It's almost certainly dust getting trapped under the cover and then being rubbed in. If you run your fingers over the inside edge of the window you can feel where particles could/will get trapped.
Always use a screen protector. Always.

Ditto to what the 2 people above me said. I have an S-View case bought from Best Buy and I definitely do not get this. I also have a Zagg shield on it as well though
I love the thought of the case, but with it not staying closed after having it flipped behind the phone for a while is annoying. I wonder if they didnt use magnets for the case to stay closed cause it would interfere with something? I have taken the case off for now. Not returning cause I will probably still use it again sooner or later, but for now I like it better with no case and a Zagg shield.
On the phone with Samsung ATM
I noticed this same exact problem last Friday. Considering I've been ultra - ocd with my phone, and clean it and my s view case at least 8 times a day, I can not believe it is caused by dust particles. I have scratches on my screen, from the bottom Window border, and lots of small scratches inside the borders of the Window on my phone screen. I have the same issue where you can wipe it away but it comes back after you swipe the screen.
I'm currently on hold with Samsung. On Friday they told me they would replace my phones screen for free, because the damage was caused by an official accessory. Today, However, they told me they couldn't do anything unless the screen was cracked. I've now spoken with 10+ people, but someone keeps hanging up on me, and I'm stuck on endless hold. The last person says I will be receiving a free screen replacement, and a new s view cover. ... But now I'm just waiting to get off hold!!!!
I can see this happening the S-View cover on the inside does not have a microfiber lining like I was expecting, so I can see how rubbing can cause scratches over time.
however, why didn't you folks just fork over the 17.00 bucks for an iloome glass screen protector or similar? even a cheapy plastic one would have saved you this heartache.
I know an official cover shouldn't have done this but hey if you are OCD like I am just buy a friggin screen protector.
if you get lucky and samsung replaces it the screen, get a screen protector or ditch the case hehe.

holy crap thats nasty...is it possible there was some dirt got into the inside part of the cover? hows the inside door feels like anyway..is it smooth?
That doesn't look like surface scratching you'd see from the silica particulates that you're likely to find in your pocket.
That there is the oleophobic coating wearing away. That's why when you clean it, it disappears and then when you touch it, it reappears. The oils on your fingers aren't being "repelled" evenly.
Try a different approach with Sammy and best buy. Don't tell them it's scratched. Point out what I just told you; you have a week old phone, in which the oleophobic coating is prematurely wearing away.
I wouldn't take no for an answer. That's clearly a matter of product failure.
As for the s case having the overhanging edges; that's to offer some protection to the edges and break the impact when it's dropped.
And for God's sake man, get a tempered glass screen protector.
In fact, worst case scenario, get one (I recommend spigen glas.tr), then clean the screen and apply protector. It'll keep those smudges from reappearing and give your your beautiful display back
Good luck man.

Seems like user error to me
I noticed mine doing it too, so I got a screen protector for my phone.

I'm really sorry for OP. But after my spigen bounce case and my lovemei aluminum bumper, I thought about getting either the wallet or the s-view case, because so far, I always have liked the book-like covers I used on my ereaders and ipad. But it seems that this one clearly tells me to go with the wallet case as it doesn't have a screen. So I'd suspect that the cover wouldn't have a single spot where it can damage parts of the phone. Aah, and I have a screen protector on anyway, but this is because I have my phone in my pocket just with the spigen case.
Even if OP is going through a lot of trouble for something he didn't even cause, I'm really glad he shared.
Ok here is the deal.
I normally use a gel case on my phones. There fit the phones well and cover everything that needs to be.
But they make the phone a lil bit thicker and hide the phone. Normally I get a phone and want to see it for itself.
Well I brought a metal bumper and it looks nice.
But I see that the camera sticks out and touchs when sitting it down.
My girl says that the camera screen is glass and won't break or scratch, but I still like for the phone to not sit on it.
So I am wondering if there is anything I can put around the camera to protected.
I was thinking of something like a form pad so the camera wouldn't touch but idk.
I know some will say get one of the charger back but then it makes the phone thick and defeats the point.
Whole new lens cover assembly cost about $6 on e-bay and shouldn't be difficult to DIY, but you could get some small piece of thick one sided foam tape, cut it to shape and stick around the cam, why not. If it gets dirty or comes off, make new one. Personally I have not seen anything like that commercially, wait, actually there is lens mount you can glue around cam, it comes with small tele lens that you can attach on top.

Yea I saw the replacements on eBay for like $10ship and I'm a tech person so I can replace it no problem.
And I didn't thing about the lens. I know they have a metal ring.
I'll check into everything.
Thanx.
I have a metal bumper also. I had an extra home button sticker that I sticked near the camera lens. Now when I lay flat down it doesn't lay on the camera lens.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk 2
I use skinomi clear skin. They include a skin for the bottom half of the camera. When my phone is laying flat the lens doesn't touch. As a bonus since you're using a metal bumper, the side skins can act as an all around protection between the bumper and the chrome trim. Much better than what the bumper comes with. But you will probably need to remove the ones on the bumper first as it will become too thick and the bumper won't fit properly.

I am updated to Kitkat, unrooted. so s-view no work for me. Thats why I took the front flap of my white spigen slim armor view out, and let the back side on on white note3 ... gives it some kind of a z10-ish look.
coming back to the point, my case does the job well, apart from protecting the sides from scratches, by keeping the camera lens from having contact when lying flat. well, quite a hefty investment if you want to protect your lens only. but since I already purchased it, it does the job decently, and I dont find it that much of bulky. anyhow, bulky or not, to me - this is a question of habit. i mean, now that I look and take a grasp of my old i9100, it seems very small now, which wasnt the case some months back my two cents

Yea i got a normal gel case for the phone. I have always use those without problems but i got a bumper for the note 3. It just feels better, so trying to keep the phone slim.
I thought about putting a dot of hot glue somewhere around it to lift it up. But i just didnt wanna do that to a new phone.
I want a square that would fit right around the camera and stick to the back plate.
Ill keep looking
the replacement lens piece is like $10, just something to think about
I went shopping for an extra battery but came across this back cover/ rubber bumper. I like this case because it doesn't add any extra weight to the phone while still maintaining a low profile. All of the metal edge is covered. That is a pro and con. I love the metal bezel, so hiding it with the bumper takes away from the phone. BUT, it won't get dinged and dented like my buddy with the Note4.
The back cover has more texture than the original cover. It is more raised like small braille dots (if that makes sense). Also the bumper does not separate from the back cover. You can remove the original back cover and slide this case on. It will work, but it doesn't snap into the phone like the original cover. It stays in place by wrapping around the front. I kept my back cover on because of my Qi charger. So, it's slightly thicker. The bumper case does not push the Qi contacts into place; therefore no charging.
Attached are pictures.
I think this kind of case take off all the beauty of the device..

Purchased at a Samsung store in Moscow, Russia. I was looking for them in the states but can't find it. Model: EF-PG850BSEGRU.
Let me know if you want one, I'm heading back to Russia in late April and can pick one up for you. It cost around 25USD.
Just got my cover in the mail today. Unfortunately it leaves a bit gap at the bottom where the USB port is. Anyone else got this cover and have the same issue? Also the buttons are a bit stiff.

Yes, mine is pretty similar.
I can live with it, it is quite a decent case for the cash and I like the stiffer buttons as they help to prevent 'pocket presses'

Ah! OK that's interesting to know. My main concern was it being a weak point during a drop (like if something hitting it square on the front edge). It's a shame it's not just a little more snug fitting as it would be perfect otherwise. The main reason I got this case instead of a standard TPU is so I can put the metal plate for my magnetic car phone holder behind the plastic back which works really well. I do notice when putting the USB cable in the phone can shift slightly up and down in the rubber housing. It's just a fraction longer than it should be. I have also ordered the Brotect screen protector after trying some other brand that is absolute carp! I am waiting on a refund for those (ordered 3 of them in case I messed up the first). I also have an issue with garbled voice on calls but not sure if that is down to my network or not yet.
Also the lack of accessories is rather depressing.
But that's what happens when you don't follow the iPhone/Samsung crowd.
Fun and games eh?

Good idea for the use of the removeable plate.
Yes, bit disappointing about accessories - but the phone is great.
I have a Nillkin hardcase and a Nillkin flip case too - both really good and much slimmer fit than the J&D, but they offer less protection, so I will stick with J&D for now
I have the Incipio version of that case style, it fits great.

How thick does this make the phone
