I am posting this here for help to obtain kernel source for 3.16.651.3. I know it is a long shot in the dark but who know it may help speed up the process..
If you can please use twitter, google+, or facebook to get the word out about source release. The more people asking about it the quicker it will come..
Also if you could email htc to ask about kernel source. They always leave a survey in their response emails. "Let me know if I have successfully answered your question, please click here to complete this." Please fill out the survey with everything dissatisfied and lave a comment if you'd like about how they have not released source yet..
I try to do this at last once a week, sometimes more, on twitter and I also email Htc with the link above..

It will happen. Im gonna try to get someone to check out the new ota 3.16 with hex and compare to first jb ota to see if we can update the kernel to 3.16 before htc releases source..

i kno one thing if you had source you would be cookin up a kick a$$ custom kernel for us! thats the only thing that this phones missing.. we got s-off.. we got killer roms but no custom kernels..

Well, they've since updated with a new file, we'll see if that's correct or not. If it is, we can't really blame them. We downloaded the file hours before they officially announced it.
Now if this new file is still wrong, after they've announced it, then we can give them crap, but lets wait and see.

I was wondering about some of the devs on here on what the status of compiling the custom kernel? I know there was issues with defconfig being left out by Samsung but someone overcame the issue but then it went all quiet. I was curious if everyone was waiting when 2.2 launches on Black Friday to finish a custom kernel or if something else is going on.

I have been wondering the same thing. I understand that 2.2 is the latest and greatest, but what's stopping people from building 2.1 ROMS and showing off their awesome work while we wait?
Also I don't see why it's a big deal to ask about the kernel here, last time I checked this was the development section and "development" on the kernel went hush hush. Also IMO IRC is too busy and cluttered for my liking.

BTW guys im not going to post any links bc i havent ask. but if you go to #samsung-fascinate irc channel there are a couple of OC'd custom kernels floating around, so give or take another day or 2 and they will be all over the place. thanks to jt and dirrk

not yet i dont beleive, they got it to compile which was apparently a feat in itself so just a little bit longer and we should be ready for things to switch into high gear. if you go into the irc room you can test out some of the kernel and im sure that they wouldnt care a bit

I've been lucky enough to lurk a few times when things were really rolling, but other times I'm doing things like working, and I'd love to be able to catch up on what has happened.

This is why you see many of us idle (stay in chat when we're not physically around). We log, and then catch up when we return.

lol.. No problem.. If you're using mIRC (and actually most irc clients) you can choose the location of your log files.. Sometimes I'll redirect them to my dropbox folder, so the logs get sent to me at work, and I'll check them our during lunch or something, just catch up.

^^^QFT. Judging by the minimal voltage bump to hit 1.2Ghz I have to assume the 45nm cpu should be able to easily hit 1.4Ghz with another minor bump up. Time will tell on 1.5 and 1.6
Get to 1.5 with froyo, and this will be the fastest phone out there. CM6 would be sweet

To sum it all up basically I Didn't really see Anything that would be considered Against the Rules. Like I said at least as far as I'm aware of!

it is usually locked bc it was once an extensive problem but in the thread is a way to resolve the issue... if you have tried the fix in the thread and still have issues.... repost... it takes a few more seconds and if youre that eager to get your device fixed you should take the initiative to post on your own if needed

the threads of a DEV getting locked are different... the DEV can lock them or a moderator can if the DEV doesnt reply to the questions about said rom.... and if the DEV is that way about it... what point is their to keep the thread open?
Jolez locked all of his cause he's leaving. Chad's thread got closed by chainfire for no apparent reason and idk about the others....

The ball has been rolling. S-Off has nothing to do with AOSP/AOKP. DMeadows and I'm sure others has been working on a Cyanogenmod port for some time now. Protekk recently joined the quest as well. Read up in the dev section

s-off doesn't mean AOSP, MIUI, etc.
As stated about a thousand times before the RIL, which is what is holding us back, is not going to be any easier to get with s-off.
EDIT: Damnit, got Ninja'd

S-Off = Hboot fully unlocked.
Aosp/Aokp = RIL source needed, not S-Off.

What I'm asking is, since we have S-Off, won't people like cyanogen be MORE likely to support us since you wont have to flash hboots and what have you to change roms and radios and such? I understood the whole RIL problem holding AOSP back a long time ago. I'm talking about "Official" support.

I'm new to HTC. Motorola was much simplier to flash things, so this dev unlock and s-off stuff is all new to me. Do I get it? yes. Has it taken a while? Yes. Do I understand why the RIL is the bottleneck... only that I know whats needed to fix it is in the offical source that we don't currently have so it can have the right files and commands. I don't think the s off is going to bring any devs that wouldn't have taken on the project while it was s on. Most of the devs who walked away from the rezound early on did so because early on the user base was rude, demanding, appreciative, and many were unintelligent and appreciative.
It has improved, there's a lot of really respectful and brilliant rezound users, and there's a lot of great devs among us, but as a whole, maybe due to the marketing of such nice hardware being based on "beats" there's still a lot of drama and unneeded crap being stirred up by a few bad apples.
The aosp ball started rolling last week again with protekk deciding to take on RIL, and others will also contribute to the effort.
S-off is greatly appreciated by me and a huge help to the community as a whole. But it's definitely not what was holding up AOSP in my opinion. I don't know any devs who would be asked to help out on the RIL by a friend of theirs and would say "no way I'm touching that because that phone is s on with an oem unlocked bootloader.

One of the source codes for the 3d's kernels wouldn't even compile...... Damn htc
For real? That's messed up. I heard there's two kernels out though, in the early stages. Maybe they just plugged the hole somehow?

yea i have both kernels.. they are just alpha kernel.. no one can go any further till the rest of the source is released... i bet u we wont see a 100% working custom kernel for our phone for a while... stright bs.. i think im done with htc after this.. once my upgrade comes up.. i mite jump ship to good ol sammy.. some of there phones come with an unlocled bootloader!! and they get kernel source with the quickness..
Not the first time they've done this, but it's never stopped us before.
I'm guessing one of the wireless blobs isn't playing nicely...but then again it really didn't on a stock phone did it? Seems like that was one of the things the update was supposed to fix, so maybe that's where the fix really is...that is in unreleased source code.

If you compile the kernel from source, prima_wlan.ko works, but when you start making edits it errors out.. im still trying to figure out how to modify without breaking the symbols.. normally this type of module gets compiled along with the kernel...
Did HTC just release the 1.22 kernel? Go figure I am out of town all weekend. Not that I have much time to fiddle with it.

I was not trying to "burn you at the steak[sic]". I was simply asking where you heard it from to determine it's credibility. I apologize if you felt that you were considered untrustworthy, it's just that a claim like this would usually require further proof as well as specifics. I know that if I was looking into kernel development (hint: I am) I would love to know what bits I'll run into trouble with.
