EU BUG permanent fix reward 20$ - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Any one who gives a permanent fix for encryption unsuccessful bug gets a 20$ reward from my side and by fix I mean that we can use our internal SD again

I dont think there have been or will be any fixes to allow use of the internal sd again.

It is just to encourage more developers to fix this bug and this is the maximum money I can give them

I dont think 20 dollars is much for a few hundreds worth of work.

You should relax, I know your phone is messed up but that is no reason to talk down to people, especially when they are trying to help you . Instead of paying someone 20 bucks to fix something that probably can't be fixed, you should look for alternatives. You can buy a new motherboard for your phone from eBay for around $40 and swap them out. You wouldn't be able to get your files back but you would have a working phone..... Or get an external sd card and do that fix. You have options but waiting for someone to fix this bug could be a long wait.

I had this phone for many years. Flashed and etc for one year. I know for a fact there are no software fixes if you already clicked the button on the eu pop up screen, because I know that its at that time your phone messes up, and many people rebooted to recovery without doing anything to it but reflashing an older version of android after resetting. I have tried contributing something, but I don't think a thirteen year old going to a advanced school could, because most of my time is spent on hw or projects. I know hundreds had this bug. I have been hit with the bug once, but luckily reflashed. The better thing to do with your money is to donate to a dev working on this problem. Please, I have a life. At least with my problems I don't rant and rage at other people.

That's what you should have done in the first place. You might be better off trying to get a warranty replacement. If the phone is bricked, they won't be able to tell if you tried to do something to it anyway. Just an idea. Hope you learned your lesson. Should have been a given.

About a half hour of reading in the first place would have saved you the 600+ dollar paperweight you just created. In a half hour, you could effectively figure out that n7000 ROMs are a big no-no for the i717, learned how to root your i717, learn how to flash CWM on your i717, and flash an i717 ROM to your i717.
Not to condone screwing over AT&T, but I would suggest you do the following, if you by chance have the monthly insurance on your phone: report it lost or stolen, pay the $200 deductible to order a new one, then take your old one which is now completely useless, and smash it with a hammer, run it over with your car, burn it, spray paint it, burn it again, smash it some more, wrap a strip of firecrackers around it and light it off, use it for target practice for the nearest firearm or paintball gun, then put it in a display case to keep in a prominent location in your home or office as a reminder of what a lack of reading can do to your device. Then, while you are waiting patiently for your new i717 to arrive in the mail, take the time to READ everything you can about your specific phone so you know every in and out of it before it is in your hands.
All joking aside, the best you can probably do is report it lost or stolen, order a new one, and then see if somebody needs it to try out JTAG repairs for the Note. I'm not sure if JTAG has been accomplished on the i717 yet, but that's probably the most use your phone will ever provide again.

Op does your phone do ANYTHING AT ALL? bootloop, hang at splash screens, only show charging symbol when plugged in? All of those aren't bricks and are recoverable
If your phone just sits there and does absolutely nothing, nothing at all, like a corpse, then that and ONLY that is a brick.
What exactly id your phone doing?

Fine. As you should. But you should also follow the rules when doing ao. I gave my advice in this thread as did others in which the same advice (not by me) was also posted in countless other threads including ones the OP posted in. If you forgot here is a refresher for new users:

[Q] Battery partition problem

I have been told by a friend who had a look at my phone as it will not switch on after I tried to root the phone.
I have been told that I put on the wrong OS on the phone & it has messed up the battery partition, so the phone thinks it has low battery power, thus will not switch on.
Is there anything I can do about this by unblocking it & if I can, could anyone tell me how to do it?
Thanks.
Thanks, you made me laugh (I genuinely laughed out loud reading your post, sorry).

This is terrible advice...
Sounds like you are suggesting that he PM a random dev for help when it appears like he flashed a firmware meant for a different phone.
Most of the time this happens, and the phone no longer boots AT ALL (as mentioned by the OP), then no one here is going to be able to help. It will usually require Jtag repair.

You should read the XDA developers rules .

I think the easiest option for me is to return the phone to my mobile provider (which they want £150 to give me a totally new replacement handset), which I don't think is that bad really.
I don't have another device to charge the battery up on, but I'm still thinking that it will still tell me that it has a low battery to download when put in download mode (which is what it is doing at moment, even though battery is fully charged).

You clearly weren't paying attention when it was said that no amount of help via this site would make a difference for the OP anyways. From his post, it sounds like he (or someone else) had flashed a firmware meant for a different device to his phone, and it now does not boot. That requires either Jtag repair or a motherboard replacement. Neither of which is possible over the internet.
And you seem to think this forum is some kind of tech support forum. Which, while people who are NOT paid are often kind enough to help out people who are having trouble with their devices, it is NOT. It is a developer's forum. Maybe you should give this a read.

Samsung offer a two year limited warranty .
Vendor usually twelve months warranty in the UK .
But as phone has been rooted all warranty null and void .
Flashing the wrong firmware likewise .
Custom rom the same custom rom counter above zero the same
So sales of goods act does not apply has phone has been modified by the user .
Custom rom root etc warranty voided see well posted letter to service centres from Samsung .

Halfcab was to root our phone - a simple process according to them. in 3 days they have managed to brick one of our phone and then not properly root the second. Now it is working very poorly. now they have blocked our emails and will not respond to us. According to them a simple download is needed so why are they not responding. Avoid as you probably will not get what you pay for.

Personally, I wouldn't let someone I've never met remotely flash my several-hundred-dollar phone (if that's how it was done). But that's just me.

I would let the unlimited.io crew or con247 toy around with mine remotely; such has been done during the initial release of the JuopunutBear S-off method. But only because I have observed them to be legitimate developers seeking to better user experiences and knowledge for knowledge's sake. Definitely not some random XDA reader with a website storefront and access to other people's ROMs and tools.
Edit: read the post below this one. Then read it again; it pretty much sums up the situation.
I a firm believer that if you can't root your own device, you should be stock... Hell I'm even against the one click root utilizes for inexperienced users.. part of having root is the understanding that you are now tech support..the only way your going to learn is to do it the hard way. Not by plugging in and clicking root... Ever notice on any forum for a phone with a one click, there's a ton of "help I'm bricked" threads... Funny thing is you never see these before one click is available...kinda hard to become tech support if you have zero knowledge of what a Linux OS is and how to move around with terminal..
Basically I almost don't feel bad for the scam, shoulda took the time to learn what's involved with being rooted...sorry

Enough with the broken roms

I am seeing a pattern that I dont like, devs putting out broken roms . A rom must work flawlessly out of the box, not screw up a device.
All the broken roms has " WIP" which means work in progress, and ignorant ppl like you should not even look at it!! So stay away from all this!

Not true. The first word in developer is develop, which means to make progress. As you've seen in the last week, that's exactly what they've been doing. Don't lash out at the developers when you don't even have your own rom for the amaze. I've been lurking here for the past few months and i've been very happy with the strides made with this device.
As the old saying goes, If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

well we (all the devs and future devs) could just remove our download links and leave you "rom-less". be glad that we make anything at all. Remember we do this for free and yes, even though these are WIP's, that doesnt mean they arent going to be fixed eventually. they are meant to be milestones to show users that there is still activity for this phone.
thankyou to those who support the WIP's

We can just lock every thread and remove every link and you will have nothing to use? Do you really want that? If so, then do not even come here anymore. People like you disrespect devs and the community alike. Don't like what we do? Then do it yourself. Oh wait, you don't know how. Then f*ck off. It's your problem. Not ours.
Roms aren't broken, its you dude.
This thread should be archived in the "examples of trolling" thread.
Hopefully locked in a few minutes.

I am seeing a pattern that I dont like, devs putting out broken roms . A rom must work flawlessly out of the box, not screw up a device.

This is 100% incorrect. XDA-Developers means we develop things. ROMs/app are an ongoing work in progress. Devs don't make ROMs just for users to come here and expect to be able to "pimp" their phones.
Oh, and the Development forum is not for posting complaints in. it's for Development work, that thing you don't seem to like.

S-Off and Unbrick Project (JTAG)

Hello dear XDA-Community,
The idea of this thread was to serve as an un bricking thread eventually,
I am looking into a riffbox for jtag service, I am approaching xda to see if any users would be interested in helping me cover the cost of said riffbox
if you were to donate towards the cause in return you would receive free unbrick service and jtag service for all your devices as long as the riffbox supports the CPU architecture
If this is of no interested not a big deal i just thought i would give the community a chance to get involved rather than keeping all the cool toys at my house and not sharing
This thread will be the hub for service requests. If you happen to need unbrick service, you will find this thread and us to help you.
I will post a log of all payments made from that money plus all Items received (e.g. the RIFF Box, the cables, Jigs, etc.)
I will also keep an online "work and ticket tracker" so that you can see live reports /pictures of the status of your repairs
now your like ok i didnt donate to help you buy this thingamabobber now i bricked my phone and i dont wanna pay some dude on ebay 60$ to fix it
cool find me post in the thread if your device is supported we can get it unbricked
Please remember i am one man and do have a child so im not planning to support 43000000x users but i dont think it would be bad to offer service to RC's RD's and senior members of xda for no cost of labor just get the unit here and ill jtag it up
RIFF Box - $155 + shipping
Updates / Facts / News:
Some things you might see around the thread
Hope this is gonna be very very educational for people too. Unbricking always is some sort of a mystery for many and if you send off your phone to some stranger on ebay, you usually don't get an idea about the "Hands On" and gettin' dirty bit of tearing down a phone and actually make it look nice and work properly again afterwards.
So, maybe we will even have some photos or videos and stuff and just give you an idea of how that all works...
Please ask your questions
and if your located in the USA and close to me for XDA active members I will always do what I can to help out as XDA has always helped me out
I am not trying to sell jtag service at all guys im saying if we can get me a riffbox ill give xda senior members RD's RC's RT's mods and members with over a 300 post count free jtag service

Glad to hear it. May have you help me out when I get my One in case I brick that sucker. Planning on working on S-off (funny, I understand ASM better than java....) so when monetary limitations allow for me to get it, expect an eventual PM from me :x

Thank you for offering up these services to xda members. The riffbox reminds me of a question I asked awhile back that went unanswered as far as I know. Is there virtualization software for android? It would be great for hacking as well as unbricking. If I was an awesome software engineer I would definitely look into making it.
Forgive me if there is something like this already, or the riffbox does just what I'm saying. Just an idea, sorry to semi-derail your thread.

The sdks emulator is as close as you'll get and imo it's only good for app development

Its actually pretty good for testing a root exploit. I did it for 2 different exploits on the nook tablet.

Hi there,
I'm new to xda, I didn't realize the amount of android support that's out there. I just recently "bricked" my daughter's HTC Amaze. I was trying to install an updated CM9 and it keeps hanging in the splash screen. I tried different versions of the rom with no luck. Also, I use Team Win v2.1.0 for recovery and the phone is unlocked with S-ON. How do I acquire your services? Thank you! :good:

Sounds like you have a soft brick
Remove the battery hold vol down and replace battery while still holding vol down
Press the power button while still holding volume down
You should be in the boatloader
Use the volume rocker to highlight recovery and hit power to select it
Then reflash Rom following the procedure outlined in the Roms op
If that doesn't suffice then 're lock the device and run an RUU unlock and try to reflash the ROM
If you can't get bootloader then you might have an issue and we can discuss servicing the device but right now it sounds like something you can fix without having to dis assemble the phone

Hi Zarboz,
I appreciate your prompt reply. I am able to get into the bootloader (HBOOT 1.93 S-ON) and from there go to recovery (Team Win 2.1.0) and I have tried full wipes and reinstalled all types and versions of the CM9 rom and even tried CM10 for good measure; also, ViperA 1.6.9 rom. It stays in the splash screen and I've tried to leave it alone for several hours with no luck. I've rebooted it and reinstalled so many times I've lost count; stuck in the splash screen. Browsing through the web I heard the problem may be the S-On/S-Off, etc. However, the procedures for it either seems that I need to be booted into phone or using some kind of "wire trick" method (that is beyond my technical skills, lol). The phone is unlocked via the HTCDEV. I hope it is a "soft brick" but I just don't know what to do at this point. Please help!
I appreciate your time and I look forward to your additional guidance. Thanks again! :crying:
