Nabi is a really great tablet for kids in my opinion, I have 2, one for each child. Only drawback I have seen last 2 months is only moderate battery life, lower resolution screen and poor viewing angles. The later isn't honestly a big deal to me or kids but it's different then say the Nexus or Kindle. Some people aren't fond of the charging by special plug and not over USB. Camera is pretty awful in low light.
There is no Nabi section here unfortunately, but there a numerous regulars that have them. Click the "cog" in upper right and simply type Nabi, and only look at posts that have Nabi in title. Use this search http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php
This has links to the major threads.

Is this the best tablet out or not.

Have read so many negative comments just want to know if this is the best out or what. It has better spec than any other tablet but all I'm reading are complaints. Mine won't arrive til Wednesday and I haven't planned on buying the dock just picked up that black sleeve that reminds me of origami.

Yes, it is the best 10.1" Wi-Fi Android tablet out there. The raging debate you're reading is about how long it will stay that way.
You will always hear negative things about any tablet when they first come out. That should be expected nowadays.

Sorry, but really? there are many MANY threads discussing the viability of this topic.
"Best" is a relative concept. seriously. why clutter up the already exploding forum with truly useless threads?

Yes this is the best out for Android right now and probably stay that way for at least next 4 months or so. The negative comments are just the more vocal ones. More are completely satisfied with device. Like me, and others with none or very minor issues. I'm very satisfied with My prime. Best tablet I ever had and I came from an iPad. Which I loved also but the prime just blows away the Competition at the moment. As with any device, there will be initial issues that are real and effect some users. You have to remember they are the minority. Check out the positive prime thread and you will see how easily this device lived up to the hype and more.

I know what you mean..lol at least I prepared my Ipad got my woman to use. Signing off Facebook apps n such and deactivating my email accounts on there so she can add her info. I'll always still have access to it and have certain places in there locked down. So she can't go snooping in places she shouldn't be at...lmfao I still have to transfer websites/bookmarks, resume, etc.. To my prime though. My jail broken iPad is a great device but I have moved on to bigger and better, The Prime.
Thread should be moved to questions or closed. Best or not is subjective and a waste of time especially when OP has stated it has the best specs.

Yes, it is the best Android tablet out right now.
Naturally, the best products out there receive the most scrutiny, so that's why you're reading so many "negative" things about the Prime right now. That's a byproduct of being one of the best products out there.
And as said already, the comments aren't about if the Prime is the best but rather about how long it will be the best. My personal view is that the Prime is an in-between device that is between the 1st gen Android tabs and the wave of 2nd gen tabs coming out in 2012, but I invite you to do your own research on the Prime and on upcoming tablets and to make your own decision on where the Prime stands.

I ran out of thanks. Very well put.
If there's one thing I'm going to take with me when I die, it's that this world is composed of 99% whiners.
To this day, I still see people whine about the stupidest things about the TF101. Some examples are a few people whining about being able to see the capacitive sensor grid under certain lighting at a certain angle. I've seen some people whine about the TF101 not feeling like a laptop. In fact, I think that's the #1 complaint I've seen about the TF101. People bought it thinking they can use it like a laptop.
I've seen people whine about the background moving slightly when you scroll from screen to screen.
I have the acer iconia, and so I've seen people whine about ridiculous things about that as well. Everything from the metalic back is cold to the touch to the sensor grid being visible under certain light at certain angle to it doesn't feel like a laptop.
Why is it that the prevalent whine for any tablet is that it doesn't feel like a laptop? Why the hell do people buy the tablet with the intention to use it like a laptop? Is there some kind of mental block involved here?
This is not to say that I see every complaint as a whine. In fact, I think there are many legit complaints about design flaws, software bugs, etc. You just have to filter out all the whines to see the real legit and constructive criticisms.
The point is don't just blindly look at the negative reviews. Actually read those negative reviews and try to weed out all the whines.
Added by edit.
Here's an example.

The Prime is the best tablet with the best Tablet-OS right now.
This could or will change in a few months, but this is normal in these days.
Sorry to say but I am not impressed with this tablet. I want to be, but it is just not happening. I just posted an initial review where you can read the details but to summarize:
- Hard to hold, very slippery
- Horrible keyboards
- SLOW web browser
- Short Battery Life
- No real noticable difference performance improvemant compared to my Toshiba Thrive

- SLOW web browser...as compared to what? An iPad (yes it's not iOS)? or your Thrive? Again see above comment.
- Short Battery Life...you've had it for at best a week, the battery is nowhere near broken in.
- No real noticeable difference performance improvement compared to my Toshiba Thrive....Curious, what do you use your tablet for to measure this "performance"? Your email reading isn't going to get any faster with the T3...

See the above edited quote. It seems you do not perceive the device to meet your expectations...easy solution, return the prime and keep using your Thrive as it is obviously a better solution for you.
My big issue with Prime is that it has gotten lukewarm reviews since release, especially by its users. While people were criticizing my fears and predictions a month ago, reality is that Prime is not as big a step forward as hoped, neither in software nor in hardware.
Hardware seems to be flawed with weak WiFi and the chance of getting a device with some sort of hardware flaw, including light bleeds, weak GPS, dead pixels, weak and unresponsive touch screen, screen that is dusty from behind the glass, or a device that just does not turn on, is higher than that of an average new product. Especially when compared to Apple's releases, which - while not flawless - hasn't made me fearful for the products quality that I am buying. I love Android so much more as a software, despite its weaknesses, simply because the ecosystem and much better openness compared to Apple are worth it for me. It pains me to see a device that has flawed and untested hardware.
Second issue is software. Quad-core does not improve anything much and ICS will not improve things other than (hopefully) the browser. Prime has very little RAM, which I think would be much better for an Android device than quad-core. Prime would be a better device with higher-clocked dual-core processor and 2GB of RAM. And you have to remember that the snappiness of software is highly dependent on hardware too, a recent Finnish review pointed out that the touchscreen is simply weak and not as responsive as it should be, making the software seem slow. This too won't be fixed by ICS.
And let's not forget the issue that I raised very early on about the Prime: battery life. Now that users actually have the device, it has become clear that battery life on Transformer Prime sucks. Everybody was up with pitchforks when I made those early predictions, but those were true predictions. Users report 6-7 hours of battery life in actual use, which is far from 10+ hours. Even with fresh battery this is very little. This means that I could not use Prime as the main device for lectures and web browsing while at University.
I will still be buying it and hoping that I won't get a flawed device, since I'm ordering it internationally and returns are a pain. At least it should be better than the original Transformer. But main reason for my purchase is the keyboard dock. If I did not want the keyboard dock, I would not purchase Transformer Prime.
That makes 3 of us. My wife has gotten mad at me a few times... Lol
I love it, but I am itching for some ICS.

anyone here have a kindle fire?

I was wondering if any of you guys have a kindle fire? I have the note, and I was thinking about it, I just don't know since I already have the note..... I would like the opinions of the people that DO own both...
I have both. I have cm7 running in my fire. I use the fire for reading, games, YouTube, and Netflix. The note I use for everything else. Honestly I could do without the fire and be fine but I do appreciate having it to run the battery down instead of my note. My note had pretty bad battery life, but I'm on it all the time.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Is the kindle slow and or buggy/laggy? How is it reading on it vs the note?
My wife has a kindle fire. Its awesome as an ebook and video device along with our prime account. Build quality and battery life are pretty good as well.
I don't know how it performs as a dedicated tablet since its running the stock rom. Over all it isn't as versatile as my note and its not a replacement for my ipad2. My wife loves it tho and for the price its hard to beat.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Its not too much bigger than the note, I don't find myself picking it up over my note ever and my wife still takes my ipad from time to time.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
I use the Fire as an eReader, I don't have much use for it besides that. Its running CM7 and it has bugs, most notably the sleep of death which is not a big deal. It's great as an ereader and comic reader though. If you're looking for a tablet, I'd still go iPad, refurbished are so cheap and so well built, its an easy decision.
I just need/want a good Ereader with some side options, to do homework and such.... I don't need a full fledge tablet... is it choppy/buggy/laggy with the 6.3 update? I also like the fact that updates are very quick...
lol with all the ICS hoopla going on I don't think I'll get any replies... hehe
I seen your post last night but I was too busy with the whole ICS leak
But the Kindle is actually a great device for your basic needs. I sold my iPad2 because I really did not see myself using it much and decided to have all Android devices in my home as well. I seen all these complaints about the bugs and lag but I have not encountered any. The silk browser is solid but I do not see all the hype behind it. 6.3 is already rooted so if you do not like the stock look you can also install go launcher. The device is great to read and feels natural(like a book) instead of holding a big 9.7 inch screen. I have read The Walking Dead comic on my KF and it is a very enjoyable reading experience. There is nothing cheap about the device. I recommend the device and if your into gaming on your tablet, someone on the amazon website said that it can handle games such as shadowgun and GTA3...but i have not tried them personally.

Best Android tab for college under 200 bucks?

Trying to be cheap as possible. Seen a couple places talking about Polaroid ICS factory rooted tab at big lots for 99 bucks. Mom told me about it too . Anyone know if out worth getting? open to suggestions here too for good tab.... Cheap good tab.

Take a look at http://reviews.cnet.com/2733-3126_7-936-5.html for a small list. They're not in the range of the Polaroid, but they're pretty reliable.
The Polaroid is only 800x480 at 7", I imagine you'll be doing some reading on it. The Nook Color and Kindle Fire are both 1024x600 at 7". The Polaroid has the advantage of having ICS preloaded, where as the other 2 have only unofficial ROMs.
I'd go with the newest Samsung galaxy tab 7. It is around $250 so a bit out of your price range, but if you could get together the money for it I would definitely reccomend you get it or the Kindle Fire.
Thanks alt for Al the suggestions... Have been looking in craigslist but pit in sticks where I live the two closest cities are to far right now and would like new with some warranty.

Oh and touch screens aren't "heat" sensitive, they rely on the electrical impulses of your body to detect your touches.

Depending on what you are looking for in a tablet, the polaroid (or all other $99 tablets ftm) will be a waste of your money. Tablets that inexpensive are not up to par with google's standards, and therefore, are not "google certified." These tablets will not have the best hardware, or even the play store/android market. They will have custom markets (applibs, amazon marketplace) The samsung galaxy tab 2 is a great tablet for the price, but if you are wanting to save a little bit more, you can try looking up archos online. They are a huge brand in europe (supposedly) and seem to function fairly well. Not to mention they are about the least expensive "google certified" tablets I have seen out there. Good luck. =D
Like I said not even sure if I am getting one now.. If I do I think I want a 10" screen and I have been looking on craigslist. Just nothing is within price range cuz I NEED money to pay for this coming semester. What to do

Hey all, first off I just wanna say this is a great site and great community. You guys have been my number one destination when I need something for my phone and never disappoint. So thanks to any devs and anyone else who reads this!
Now, moving on, I purchased my GS2 back in November after having the 3 previous iPhone's before (opted for the GS2 instead of the 4s). And everything had been going pretty good up to this point and I was loving my phone. That was until I received an iPad for a graduation gift... and now I've come to a bit of a fork in the road. I returned the iPad at first because I had always told myself that if the day would ever come I would get a Samsung/Android tablet.
But I've been comparing the 2 a lot and have spent time on my phone and my friend's iPhone and iPad and I can't help but notice how much smoother the games are on iOS, not to mention the far far superior selection of apps. I spend a lot of time playing games on my phone and my GS2 often seems boring because of the poor selection. I remember my iPhone having a lot more people playing games online than I see on Android. I also feel like I've wasted a lot of time flashing new roms on my galaxy. I'm a hardcore diagnosed flashaholic and in a way I think it might be nice to have something that just works (iOS).
TBH, I've always hated Apple, everything about them, but right or wrong they've stolen a lot of good ideas from Android such as the notification bar that was once one of my biggest complaints about iOS. And they now have the chrome browser which I hear may be getting Flash NEXT when it comes out? As far as I can tell the only thing their missing is Flash.
IMHO: I hate how iOS gets the attention and the good stuff because that's what everyone and their mother is buying these days. I've always liked Android more but iOS gets so much more support.
The other thing I like about iOS is the great syncing between iPhone and iPad. I want my phone and tablet to play together nicely. Notes, reminders, apps, everything. Whereas if I get an Android tablet (looking at ASUS Pad 700 when it comes out July 16) I would have to use something like evernote and gtasks and a separate app to sync between devices if that will even work. I also don't like the limited number of tablet specific apps on the Play Store. But Android is no doubt gaining momentum, just look at 9 million GS3 preorders.
Sorry for the massive wall of text I'm just trying to sort out what I've gathered so far and get some opinions on it. So what do you guys think? For a phone/tablet combo which is better, iOS or Android?
Thanks for spending the time to read this if you did and I appreciate and input you guys can provide. I assume I'll get more Android answers but maybe there will be something I'm not seeing or haven't thought about before.
TLDR; iOS or Android for phone/tablet combo?

OP....I understand your point about how everything in ios just works right out of the box while we go crazy here trying to find that one ROM and kernel which we will be happy with but we never find one. We might settle for one for some time but then we need regular updates to keep us satisfied.
Having said that there are somethings which are easier with android....at least for me. Eg.
-File management is much more intuitive.
-Music management is awesome...no need to go thru the uber irritating iTunes. I can just copy folders of mp3 and can play whole folders Instead of albums
-Easy to sideload apps which allow you to do something extra like download YouTube videos.
-Also prefer the larger screens.
-Like the option of external memory.
- and a few other things I can't remember
On this forum you will only get iPhone sucks remarks. I personally like iPhone and ios but buy android to satisfy my above listed requirements which ios does not provide or does not provide well.
My 2 cents.

**** Apple. bad location for this.
I'd pick android, and I'd get the Nexus 7.
I'm no apple alfan boy nor am I an android fan boy. I like something that looks good works good and does what I want.
I had the iPhone 3 3gs 4. I loved the 4 by far it was just a sleek design IMO, I jail broke it to have more functionality and more open source management. I got an upgrade and I though apple 4s? Why pay extra for a few upgrades? Now mind you my iPhone 4 was never touched by human hands after I bought it. I had it cased screen protected the works I take VERY good care of my phones so it wasn't like it was all scratched so a 4s was justified.
So I stepped into android I've heard about it seen it on TV l read about it on the web. So I saw the gs2 and wanted it so I got it. Stock rom dissapointed so in a couple hours of owning the phone I had flashed roms apps the works it was soooooooo much easier then jail breaking. The cons I found was the 70$ a month warrenty while apple would replace anything I brought a jail broken iPhone in for a faulty battery and they replaced the whole phone.
I love both but both have cons why not use Google for notes and such?

I've had the first iphone and ditched it for an HTC back in the day which had 3G GPS and whatnot while the iphone was lacking about everything. I'm talking iOS 1... anyhow now I've own a lot of devices, have been able to play with a few tablets phones and whatnot. At the end it is hard to decide which pill you should take because there are good things in both products and you can't have all, I found the best combination for me was having an iPad2-3G and my current handset (Galaxy S3 ATM) which is the one I take everywhere. I've had the Motorola Xoom, and trust me I wouldn't touch an android tablet EVER. There is too much redundancy having the same OS on a tablet and your device, you can do exactly the same there is minimal to none difference between running a tablet or a handset with android. thats why I got an iPad I can have "quality software" if you want to call it that way and have my freedom/rom flashing/geek tinkering with android. And the iPad2's are pretty cheap these days

I switched to android, just after a jam with friends where all were just talking about how wonderful android is, as I was always a BB and iOS fanboy b4 that instance... and I too found my experiences with this enchanting and quite amazing..
After using the this SGS2 which I got from a friend moving on to some better one, I have used it in stock condition for about a month to get full gist of what android experience is all about..
now I'm also into flashing business and have already flashed my first custom rom (shostock) and kernel(NEAK) with modem (UCKH7) and really having a great time with this.. no issues whatsoever !!!
I'm so entralled by android that I have also started learrning about creating android apps (previously tried my hand on iOS app dev too) and nips n tricks of modding a kernel/rom to get the desired experience.. maybe with a little more time, I may also start making my own stuffss !!!

Well, let's see. Maybe its battery is better, but the fact that I can change mine out and put a new one in (regular or extended) gives me way more flexibility than your iPhone does.

The people I know who have a 4S say the battery life is pretty good. Even the battery test results in gsm arena and anand tech say 4S is near the top of the list in terms for battery life for web browsing and video playback.

In all honesty and having used both myself, it sounds like you would be happier with the IOS. I personally switched from IOS to android and like it MUCH better but it's not for everyone. The IOS does work well but not near as customizable as android, but is more user friendly.
Thanks for all the replies guys!! If I do ever switch over too the iPhone I certainly will miss this forum. On a side note, is it just me or do 3 out of 4 people in the xda iPhone forums not speak English? Are iPhone users really that young? lol. But really thanks for all the help, I appreciate it.

Thanks for this idea. Thought about it shortly after posting this and wondered if I should have put a "Neither" option in the poll (not that it would have changed much by the look of it lol). It would make sense since iPad gets apps specifically made for it while Android tablets kinda get left out.

In a way in does, but it would be a bit of a pain to boot up Drive and navigate to a folder just to take down a note. But you do make a good point. If only Google synced apps too (more so than it does now at least).

Go get your iPhone and enjoy running out of battery when you need it most.....unless you are plugged into the wall somewhere.

Like others have said iPhones typically have very good battery. Even with all my flashing of custom roms, kernels, and modems I have yet to reach the same quality of battery life than I had on my iPhone 4.
Thanks again guys, this decision seems to becoming harder the more I think about it lol

Nexus 10 arrived, broken

I got my shiny Nexus 10, opened it up, fantastic, screen brilliant. A very nice upgrade from the Nexus 7.
I got home and continued to get some new apps installed and had a browse using pulse. I ventured into my lounge, where the lights were a little brighter. I was about to turn the TV on and heard a buzzing noise.
FANTASTIC.
Google are sending me another...
I then made the mistake of updating FB saying its broken already. I should have just posted: APPLE FANBOYS, MAN/ANDROID DOWN, COME GET ME NOW WHILST I'M WEAK.
"Buy cheap, buy twice" That was possibly the best of the bunch.
It wasn't cheap?! haha, ah well.
After owning this for a day, i'm not that fussed about it breaking to be honest, its a minor fault and they sending me a new one. The main annoyance is people/idiots asking me why I didn't just buy an iPad?!
I cannot believe technology has such a divide, a tablet is a tablet, people don't have the same kind of hate for Nike if they are into Adidas, it really has become very sad.
Joined XDA today after using the site for some time and getting my old HTC tricked out. I won't go into too much detail now but I'm EXTREMELY happy with my new Nexus 4 and very happy I can sell my One X now.
Hello all!
Unlucky. Got mine today and it's fine!

Asus are no where near perfect either.. Google Nexus 7 screen lift or Neuxs 7 screen separation.
Nobody is perfect. Both my Nexus 10 and ASUS TF300T are excellent devices. If I held both under a microscope I could find something to complain about.
Everthing today is price, time to market and the stock price. Are you surprised things are not perfect?
Still Charged Up
I'd take Samsung over Asus any day of the week.

This... unless you've tried a modern Asus tablet (possibly non-Nexus since the 7 sounds alright) you dont understand just how bad they can be. They cut corners in all the wrong places, and once you notice them you cant unnotice them.
Sorry that happened to you. Fortunately, many of us can say from experience that the good ones are really good. Far better than those Apple tablets that people seem to be mindlessly swooning over.
I swear to God I am so sick and tired of the same damn question "why didnt you get an iPad, it clearly has way more apps and blah blah blah". Because i dont wanna be paying to do everything on it, thats why.
O well, mine came a few weeks ago and it had a couple of random reboots, but im fine with it as it has no light bleed and it hasnt rebooted it self for a week or over now.

I'm guessing some of you guys never used a Asus tablet. I had the infinity. It was a beautiful tablet but boy does Asus know how to ruin a great device. Everything Asus makes has i/o issues. So when your downloading something you tablet is pretty much unusable. I never sold anything faster then that thing. Then after going to forums on any of there devices they all have the same problem. Lol even their computers.

I have a tf201 and got so sick of it I got a N10. I did like the keyboard, but there were just too many other little things that I could never get to work right. This after 3 rma's for wireless GPS and other issues . I have had this for 4 days and so far I really like it. I am still trying to get everything setup and figured out.
I think, what many people have trouble with is in how they use it. I don't really play games, but I do use it for productivity purposes and I'm reading a lot of books on Kindle or Google Books. What I found disappointing on the TF 201 was that I couldn't use it very well to write on the screen to take notes, which was a big frustration for me, as I don't want to have to type things out. The tests with my stylus on this has been a little better (using my jot pro) .
I think I also like the screen much better over the TF 201 which was a low resolution, something that I feel awful cheated on, because they came out with the tf700 so quickly afterwards with the same hardware except for the screen.

I have the Infinity 700t using the stock rom, unrooted. With the latest JB firmware update, there is minimal lag. Yesterday I downloaded 3 gb of files (The Bard's Tale) and was able to browse and do other tasks. Overall performance, including browsing is good- not spectacular, but highly usable and reasonably fast. Other than using Boat Browser, routinely clearing browser cache, occasional cold booting and disabling a lot of the pre-installed apps- I have made no system changes. Also, I uninstalled the FB client. Mostly because I find it a very poorly developed piece of software- actually preferring the web version.
