So I recently got a replacement DNA from verizon, but I'm not sure if it's a refurb or not. Anyway, I left my phone for like two hour today on at least like 70 percent charge, and when i came back the screen wouldn't turn on. When i hold down the power button, the three LED buttons flash, but nothing happens. I tried plugging it in, but the charge light indicator won't even come on. Just making it clear, my phone is NOT rooted. What do i do!
I would go to a Verizon store, and ask the rep for another replacement. If the issue gets worse email HTC support @ HTC.com
Hope this helps.
Did you try like pressing and holding the power button until the lights flash AND it vibrates ? If not, try that, like next.

Have you held the power button for 20 seconds once the 3 lights start flashing? That should force it to perform a reboot

Aww man. That sucks. Alright thanks.
Isn't verizon supposed to test the device to make sure it fits the precirtifed stuff. I that's poor customer support and if that's the case I would request that they credit your account or provide you with some kind of benifit

any one else having a problem with the power button not waking the phone.. i press it and its un responsive have to press it 3-4 times to come on and some times it it wont come on at all have to do a battery pull....
I've had this problem but only one time, haven't been able to recreate it, customer service said it was most likely a one time thing. When you couldn't unlock your phone and battery pulled could you turn it on? The first time I tried it wouldn't work and there was a red led but I gave it 5 min and then pulled again and it worked fine.

I saw your thread I'm not sure if it is the same issue it only happened once where it wouldn't turn back on at all.. the other times it took 3-4 presses to turn on i don't believe the other buttons were functioning either it just would not wake up after I did the battery pull it Turner back on right away
And did not see a red light
I hope I don't have to return it I got it from the states and I live in cananda :s

Just buy "Widget Locker" and use the Easy Lock Mode which will allow you to wake the phone with the volume rocker
So i have had my EVOLTE for a while now (3rd one) and currently I was running OMJ's JB Sense Rom. Everything was working fine, but in the past day, my phone was a little laggy, so I downloaded another ROM and Kernel, and set my phone down to let it download.
I noticed that the phone was getting a little hot, but thought that when downloading large files, it sometimes did. Later I went back to check on the phone while it was on the charger, and it seemed to be going fine, but when I unplugged it, the phone turned off, and now will not turn back on.
The soft button lights will flash when I hold up and power or down and power, but the screen never comes on, and sometimes it will randomly vibrate. Ive been trying to fix it using the unlimited.io ubuntu tools, but I cant get any of them to recognize it as being plugged into the USB. My laptop just keeps seeing it as an MTP device. I am rooted but not S-OFF...
Please Help!
Just Tried using several RUU's including the 3.12 JB RUU and I always get a 155 error.... Im all out of theories...

Did you relock the bootloader before trying the RUU? It won't work if it's unlocked. Can you get into the bootloader or recovery?

I've got nothing, then. Doesn't sound like a total brick, though, especially since the capacitive buttons light up. If you can let the battery die, plug your phone up and see if it will charge. This would be a good sign, in my opinion. Was your battery low when you were trying to flash the ROM?

when i hold down the up and power buttons together, the bottom lights flash until it appears to go off and then it appears to reboot, by vibrating like it usually does upon boot, but that is the last thing that happens. The screen never appears to even come on...

You need to hold the power and volume DOWN buttons after doing the battery pull reset. That should get you into the bootloader.

If the lights still blink, then the device isn't dead. I'd throw it on the charger and forget about it for a few hours, and then try to get into HBOOT again.
It was on the charger from 10 pm till 8am and still nothing is happening... Thanks for all of your help
After the lights stop blinking hold down the volume down button. It should get you to bootloader. I've been on the same place as you with me HOX and it worked for me

Trying powering it on again, and connect it to a PC. See if the PC recognizes it at all. That will help determine whether the device is on, and your screen is burnt out, or if something else is wrong. If it does acknowledge a device was plugged in, try an "adb devices" to see if adb can see the device.
If the screen doesn't come on at all, you should have no problem taking it to Sprint and getting a replacement.
Was in the middle of installing a new rom today and was having some issues with the data on the Carbon ROM. Got that fixed and data came back and before I could reboot into bootloader the phone just shut off. There was over 50% battery still left when it happened. Now it will not turn back on. I've tried the normal vol down + power for at least a minute with nothing. I've also tried vol up + vol down + power also did not work. I've also tried all of that after removing the sim card. Literally nothing happens at all with anything I try. Is there another method to reboot that I don't know about? Am I bricked?

this just happened to me. just turned on max volume on CF 9/17.
I was using my phone earlier, and everything was normal. I put it in my pocket when using my computer, but when I pulled it out to use it, the device was off. I pressed the power button. Nothing. Held the power button down. Nothing. Held the power button + volume down. Nothing, again.
The phone was fully charged three hours ago when I unplugged it, and when I plug it in now there are no lights turning on.
I'm incredible confused and a bit scared. Has this happened to anyone else? What do I do?

Plug it in either to an outlet or the USB on your pc (I cant remember which) and hold the power button down until it comes back to life... Should work
What Rom and kernel are you running and are you overclocking?

I'm a little afraid to try and open it in fear of damaging it more
But I also don't think I could open it since I don't have much in terms of tools.
Make sure you are holding the power button for at least 30 seconds. IF that doesn't work, try power and volume down for 30 seconds. If that doesn't work, leave on the charger for an hour, then try again, both plugged in, and unplugged

I'm upset that this even happened. What could possibly cause the battery to just go dead like this?
Return it or get a replacement, there have been quite a few reports of battery / no power issues.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
Most of them just reset the battery by disconnecting it and reconnecting it. I'm sure there is a way to reset it with a combination of buttons. Maybe go call htc the support is actually really good I haven't had any bad interactions with them in the 2 instances I called. This should also be covered on the year warranty and they should replace it for free since it has not been a year yet. I would call.

It was a hardware failure, they'll probably send it back to HTC for refurbishment or recycling. It's unlikely that they will find out that you rooted it.

well you did open it up, and they might find that out; pretty sure that will void the warranty. unless you are able to mend it back up. i screwed up my first dna and got a replacement since it wouldnt turn back on and they never found out
Verizon sent me a refurbished one and I sent in the broken one. It wasn't through insurance.

I wouldnt be able to send mine it anyway. Theres a hair like crack on the screen and they wont send one out or they will but then they would see it then charge me the full price of the phone because of it. Customer negligence......

I am having this exact issue with my Droid DNA. The circumstances are exactly the same. Two weeks ago, I stuck my phone into my pocket, took it out five minutes later and the device was off. Since then, Everything I've tried to get it to turn on has not worked. I even got a replacement battery however nothing.
When on the charger, all it does is blink the red light no matter how long I leave it on. I'm desperate as this phone is a second hand purchase and not on warranty. Also, I live in the Caribbean so I don't have many options for getting it fixed/replaced. I've tried every button combination, searched many forums and tried many suggestions.
Is there anybody who may have ANY other ideas to get this phone to work?
The phone is not rooted.
Verizon doesn't care if its soff and htc don'ts care. Verizon just isn't allowed to give you service if they know if soff.
I was running cm 11 I was moonshine s-off and running twrp recovery last night I got a call and when I slid the bar to answer my phone screen. Went black and hasn't been able to be turned on since my pc will not recognize my device am I sol or can this be fixed?

What model of htc do you have?
Dumb question, have you taken the battery out?
and a light should come on when its charging but doesnt?
it is more than likely possible to recover as long as nothing is damaged, i had a bootloop virus after trying to root, i had a friend fix it for me but all he did was flash the stock ruu using adb which was a pain in the ace because adb couldnt find the phone and the stock ruu was a Beach.
um, if none of those work, try a different cable i guess? trying to see if it is just an easy fix before you have to do anything 'fun'
No I didn't take the battery out it's not removable and no lights come on whatsoever and the pc can not see my phone no matter what cable I use
Let it sit on the charger for a day (24 hours) and then try to turn it on, this has been known to work. If this doesn't work then you may need to send it in. Could be bad battery or motherboard.
Thanks I'll try it man
