Hello everybody,
I don't know how you feel about this whole thread, but I get lost between nooby questions and boosted topics.
All I want to do, is to check out the latest fastest and cleanest roms for the touch dual (Nike).
Well, I am not able to get a clear view whats out there because this thread is shifting so much due to new posts in old topics.
I would like to know if someone can recommend a very nice tweaked and fixed up rom.
I know their are some good ones out there such as the Mary Roms or the Niki Project Rom Editor Roms.
I don't know how you guys feel about it, but I am not in love with gothic style skins, overloaded menus and a start up animation that chips in 5 minute waiting time till you can even use your device.
All I want is a "fixed" clean rom.
please...
I know what you mean, I'd like the most clean rom ever, with lots of free RAM... but that hasnt come out yet... There is a promisse of this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=415027
...but hasnt come out yet, the truth is that you cant uninstall what is already in a rom, but you can override it with diferent skins, so for now I'm going for the DB's 3.2.1:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=409787
that leaves me with about 74 free RAM with all installed.
o.k this isn't a best rom... wave your pom poms... I'm so excited I just flashed a new rom thread
back in the day when we were making MP's (monster packs) on Argon, we wouldn't release the MP until it was perfect (or as close to perfect as we could get)
I was just thinking, that I've had mys SGS-2 about 7 months and 99% that time I can't remember it not having any bugs!!
Personally, I actually enjoy finding work arounds/solutions for the dreaded bug :fingers-crossed:
I don't know linux, nor do I have the time or energy to learn :cyclops: this thread is designed to share - objective findings of an anecdotal nature...
i.e. Rom Y - was super stable & I even did A, B & C to it :highfive:
nothing boils my bunions more than looking through an OP & seeing ' don't post bugs' or 'rom has known issues' or claims of curing cancer in thread title... really!? [slight exaggeration - devs do it too]
as users, I believe we have a right to critique work put forward by devs... i.e. if your willing to put yourself out there, you should expect to get feedback both positive & negative
plus, objective critiques should keep devs honest and hopefully ensure a high standard of work :victory: {we really need a dev rating system} @ staff
anyway - enough preaching for the time being - let's get down to rom+stability
For me, most stable rom was :drum-roll: Wajk's WIUI (his take on MIUI) - I used GB version... if memory serves correctly - as provided by Wajk it was 99.99% bug free ^^ (it's GB it should be) then I added Fluxxi kernel (NB, there is english version of kernel app)
& then I supercharged it all of the above made ph super smooth/snappy & made the battery grow some huge kahones...
Why aren't I on it now just like most others I'm after the latest fix i.e. 4.1.2 JB
but every now and then I almost get the urge to restore that blend of rom & tweaks - just to compare it to 4.1.2 but, I get scared that if I do - I'll find out that 4.1.2, aint all it's cracked up to be - so I put up with... well the bugs! :chortle:
Now - share your findings -=or=- lambaste me with your critique -=or=-

Lol agreed now you are probably gonna experience sarcasms and links to xda rules, so anyway before anything happens i tried several and i now bet on cm 9.1 as my daily driver, i flashed several roms used it for a day or two then as quickly as I flashed i jump back to cm9 through backup as it's the most fastest to my taste. I use ClockworkMod's kernel now but my favorite is definitely Siyah. Testing battery life comparison now, heating issues in heavy load too also being tested.

Hear, hear!
There isnt even a "known issues" list anymore ("because every device is different blah blah") and we can't discuss which roms work best ("because every rom is different etc etc ad nauseam").
In my very personal opinion, coming from the Asus TF101 forum here in XDA, where we can definitely discuss better roms and make comparisons this approach isn't very constructive.
If anyone disagrees, again, it's just my point of view.
ps.: The NeatRom thread is a breath of fresh air, really democratic with a lot of ideas and suggestions being exchanged between users and devs.
pps.: I hope I don't get banned for expressing my point of view. :fingers-crossed:
He He,
You've asked the question of the year !!! For me, it's RR 2.7 ICS & Siyah 501 ( Levi's - best ). still have it as backup on SD, PC ,Moon ....

However you dress this up, its still a "best rom" thread and just leads to same answers which are subjective and opinions.

^^ This.
The most stable ROM is likely the stock ROM. If you want the most stable "custom" ROM, use one that is almost identical to a stock ROM.
Please, no more threads on ROM comparisons. Try them out and see which one is appropriate for your usage patterns. A stable ROM for one person is not for another.
A Universal Rom idea...
With every Launcher (done through aroma) (touchwiz, sense, miui, cm10, aosp, liquid, (custom for rom...Launcher)) (with explicit details on what wont work for each launcher)
A large list of pre-installed themes (not just standard)
Multiple Lockscreen selections inside Aroma
large list of browsers apps for selection (file and internet) (what can i say, people have their preferences)
large list of music enhancing applications for selection (such as acid tech and walkman player, beats, awesome beats, beats pro, dsp manager, volume +)
Complete list of kernels for device on rom
large list of system fonts
Pacman config options (AOKP, CM10, PA) (possibly with selection of baked rom control instead of regular AOKP)
Pre-installed T-mobile theme manager (sorts themes on market and makes them more easily readable for download, alows different sorting options)
Adblock for android
Inverted or regular gapp selection
Option to replace system applications with ones that exist on market (for example, talkatone includes free minutes, free texting, no ads, and you keep
your number) (Messaging 7 is an example of my preferred messaging application i use from the market)
Optional keyboard selection, from a large list (branches down from swype or no swype to other options, inside aroma)
Any additional mods for the phone included inside aroma (with descriptions)
Bloat removal included inside aroma
Gesture Control (if possible)
Boot animation config inside of aroma, with screenshots of each on OP
Possible Development Collaboration to include mods from specific roms to help in development of this one. (Which i would personally include the viper
battery control (never had better battery life) (some tweaks from SuperJelly, bareback) (I would also include the viper rom configuration options, if sense
was selected, after ported to jelly bean)
Oh and rom installer and zip file deletion script after it installs to remove that large ass download from your phone or tablet.
Multiple GPS navigation application options.
Idk maybe its just me, but if i could have one rom with a million different aroma options, id have 1 rom, i could re-do over and over, satisfying my rom addiction for months. I thought it sounded like a cool idea, dont know if its all completely possible but i hate finding an issue with a rom and having to download another 300mb+ file to find another problem with a rom. Its almost the same issue i have with media, and competition, except its a free thing.
To be honest. I wouldnt mind paying for a rom that had every feature every rom offered compiled into one very large aroma installer. 5-10-20 bucks and i have an ultra phone, and would never have to download another rom...Perm satisfying my rom addiction by creating an UltraROM, possibly using svn to not have to download updates. Or a pre-configured OTA, However in that option, and i was paying for it, you better have a good server lol, cause id rather download from dev host at 4-5MB/s than download from a **** server direct link that lets me dl at 100KB/s
Any thoughts?
Most of it is do able with my skill set just have to learn the installer aroma. But it why that is alot of work my private cm7 on my old g2x had alot of stuff just no options. It was alot of work and asop or cm10 needs to fix lte before i touch them to try but im going to learn aroma soon anyway. So ill think about it seems interesting.

A thread for this. ? :banghead: why not choose the ROM that most meets these requests, and add the rest yourself?

Ah haha hahaha
Is something wrong with the idea of a paid ROM that includes all the features present in other roms? Yes this is a thread, because as far as i know it hasnt been done. There isnt even a free rom that includes all the good features from every rom.
There are multiple roms with different features that you find appealing, which makes you want to switch between them all of the time, and actually causes the want to switch between said roms frequently. The desire for a perfect rom exists, however a perfect rom doesnt exist, so you go back and foruth between them all the time. Always wanting a new rom, always wanting a different one, always wanting to see that new feature. Which is the same way phones come out in stores. A new feature comes out, you want a new phone, even though just moments ago you loved your old one.
So its odd that roms would be developed in the same fashion wouldnt you agree? That there is always a new rom to make you want to switch, even though flashing presents the risk of damaging your device, and you loved the rom you were just on a moment ago, but it is missing that feature. A singular rom wouldnt have this issue, and if lots of options were presented in aroma, people would never get bored with it. If made through SVN people wouldnt get tired of downloading new additions to a large rom.
So if the rom was developed by multiple developers, Then the credits would be for every dev, not just one. Destroying the idea of singling a single rom out while others exist, because all devs would be working on it. Depending on the amount being spent, the devs could actually no longer need donations after a little while, as they would be making a sufficiant amount off of the rom itself, if it were paid, and if it werent, so many people would be using the rom that the idea that no donations would go through would be rediculous, they would be getting paid based off of the feelings of the consumer, which, if the rom were made this way, would be alot. As alot of people would want to use the rom.
Paid for rom? you serious?!?! that's just plain wrong...and impossible to get a rom that works with every single device out there
OH WOW!! So if I understand you correctly, you want every app, mod, font, kernel, theme and feature of all the ROMs in one nice package? Then you want it to be a universal type of ROM?
What are we talking about.....5-6 gigs here??
THEN you have the nerve to think people are going to jump at this project just because you throw a few dollars down?? I'm sorry but saying you would pay for a ROM is just nuts! Not sure where you think you are BUT this isn't the place to try to BUY a ROM! I can't speak for every developer on here BUT the ones I associate with, I can sure as hell speak for and I can tell you that money isn't our motivation!
Keep your 5 dollars or 20 dollars and head over to the development section and pick out a ROM like everyone else. If that doesn't do it for you, then roll them sleeves up and make one yourself!
there's this thing called a kitchen... thing is our devices couldn't hold such a large file to do that. and having it universal is near impossible. and lol at the flash some money.
lol
Fake outrage!!!
Seems like it could just be a options chooser zip instead of a full rom.

WOW, just WOW with this thread...
If you cannot find a ROM to suit you "needs" on this forum, then re-lock your phone and run stock....or build your own ROM. What you're asking for is never going to happen and undermines the entire point of what XDA is and stands for.
SMH....
With all the features you want.. the Rom zip file would be ridiculously large

So im gonna say a few things and put them simply, as you guys seem to think this is a complete life ending discussion, if i put more than a few lines of text into a post.
If i want sense. i want a sense rom thats gonna be awesome. Not a billion of them with small differences in each one and new names.
If i want CM10. i want a CM10 rom thats gonna be awesome. Not a billion of them with small differences in each one and new names.
If i want AOKP. i want a AOKP rom thats gonna be awesome. Not a billion of them with small differences in each one and new names.
If i want PA. i want a PA rom thats gonna be awesome. Not a billion of them with small differences in each one, and new names.
If i want the 3 above to be in one rom, i want ONE rom thats gonna be awesome. Not a billion of them with small differences in each one. And new names.
If i want MIUI. I want a MIUI rom thats gonna be awesome. Not a billion of them with small differences in each one and new names.
So for the nth time. Why do we have so many roms that are the same? this is open source people collaborate a little lol stop adding a small little game changer into a new rom every 5 seconds and just add it in to one that exists.
I mean, like mazda just said, you dont do it for money or donations. I immagine you do it for credit then or there just wouldnt be so many roms out there that are exactly alike. lol
btw, if this was a hate thread, there would have been more...well...hate. Unless your saying theres alot of random hate from people who stumbled apon this thread and decided it was against their religion not to reply with hate lol.
and then if you are, thats very normal for this device. Seems the only people who buy an evo have anger issues they need to work out.

I'm not hating by any means...just very confused as to why if you want all of these things in a "ROM" you don't just do it yourself?

Because not everyone can cook ROMs.
Topic turned into a flame fest, closed.
I know, there are huge lists of roms that are available for the Xperia Neo, but I have a long list of requirements and thought that you might be able to help me out with something that I would probably need multiple weeks for.
General information:
The exact name for my smartphone is 'Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V'.
I don't have any warranty on my phone anymore. (I got it on xmas in 2011 and I had 24 month warranty.)
I rooted it in 2012 (april approximately)
I lost the backup between millions of files on my old computer. (It still exists though.)
I can't remember what I used to root it, but it was rediculously simple.
I installed an Anit-Theft app on it in 2011. 'Avast Internet Security & Antirirus' and I remember it sayin something like it will hide itself as system app and protect itself etc. I'm not sure if I remember the password...
What I expect from the custom rom:
It must support all the components (including HDMI, USB, WIFI, GPS, 3G, cams...).
It should be as small as possible (on disc and RAM)
but there shouldn't be any critical or extremely annoying bugs.
low CPU usage
control over the CPU clock (to get more battery time)
I only want necessary software to be installed on the device by default. (atm there are about 100 apks that are clearly not necessary)
I hope I didn't forget anything.
The reasons:
I want more battery time. (Yes I already turned my screen darker, bought a bigger battery and closed background processes)
I hate it to have a mess on my device.
I hate it to have no control over it.
I need more internal discspace. (Thanks to bad developers like WhasApp's and the 100 unnecessary preinstalled system apks. I think I don't even have 200MB available on my internal storage.)
Lesser lag and responding times (especially for the keyboard)
Best regards and thanks in advance,
ferivon
here is the list of roms & kernels http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316394 have lots of different kind roms & kernels select one accordingly which suites your need .. one thing there is no best rom or kernel out there , try all select the one enjoy full freedom .. welcome to xda

No rom is fast or best. It depends on users choice. Try each rom and see whats best for you. Dont create such threads in future. Its baseless

I did not ask for the best rom. Read the whole post before answering in future.
Btw: When I registered here, a message showed up, implying that it is okay to ask for roms with specific features as long as you don't ask for it in a dev section.
However, enough offtopic, I asked for the rom that would fit my needs the best.
I hope you don't seriously want me to test every rom that is compatible with my phone. Not sure if you knew it, but there are humans that have a 'real life'. I can't just put a new rom on my device and test it for 10 minutes to see if it fits my needs. It takes a lot of time to see if the rom is stable bug-free etc. And now imagine I would do this for like 50 roms. It would take me years...
It doesn't necessarely need to be the one that fits my needs 'the best'.
I just thought that someone here has some experience with most roms and that you could at least give me a smaller list of possible roms.
Or maybe you just happened to know one specific rom that is very good and fitting my needs?
I read a message or something like that when I registered here. And it implied that it is okay to ask for roms with specific features as long as you don't ask for it in a dev section.
best regards,

You better try latest updated ROMs use recommended kernel mentioned in rom thread, no further discussions
Sent from my Xperia Neo using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Let me clear up somethings... You need hdmi so you will have to stick to ics or gb... And in general all roms try to provide you the best experience... By having an unlocked boatloader you can install a custom kernel and thus getting control on processor... All roms generally aren't bloated... So I would say any stock based rom ll suit you...

You don't have to test every ROM anyways and
DO not refer "the life" here...respect the developers, they do have their lives even after making these ROMS for You....
If you are intelligent enough to read the general and development threads.... and know the ROM bases(AOSP,cyno,PACMAN,etc) from good developers....I can bet you ...you will find a ROM good or even best in less testing...because many ROMS on ICS based are premium icing on the cake...
do check the rating on the right side of the thread
Ok, thank you all.
Try different roms before deciding what is best
For me carbon rom works good for 4.4.2. Waiting for update to 4.4.3

First of all your post's title is very misleading, edit it.
Look brother, it's inappropriate to make posts like this. Developers do all the hard work for free, but they have a life too. It takes time, skill & a lot of trouble shooting to develop a ROM. So just give them some time, okay?
If we keep nagging them, the devs might feel annoyed & lose their interest in developing for our device completely. Tell me, is that what you want? The problem is we only want to take everything for free, giving nothing in return - not even a little bit of patience!! That's not how the world works.
Android 10 isn't out for this device yet, but we already have 4 Android Q based custom ROMs for A3. You can try those in the meanwhile.
No hard feelings bro, just wanted to share my thoughts with you. Thank you.

I see. Stock android is not everyone's cup of tea. You see, this phone runs on stock android, so every custom rom for this device is going to be based on stock/AOSP. You probably won't get that cartoonish MIUI for this device. GSIs? May be. But those things are always riddled with bugs. Talking of Oxygen OS, there isn't a whole lot of deference between Android One & OOS. Besides, you'll lose the ability to use your cameras to their full potential - a common problem with custom roms in general.
You really should have gone with CC9e instead of A3.
I, for one, enjoy clean, fluid & bloat-free Android. Every feature you get on MIUI can be duplicated on stock rom with the help of some useful apps & a bit of creativity
Basically, stock android is like soft clay. You can customize it to any shape you like (granted, it does require some effort); you can't say the same for 3rd party skins like MIUI.
I thought that after more than 2 years since Mi A1, people finally learned that if they want MIUI, they need to buy a phone with MIUI and not Android One. What puzzles me even more, Xiaomi offers EXACTLY the same device with/without MIUI, yet people jump on the Android One train and complain.. Sorry for being off-topic, but I'm amazed by this behavior since the beginning of Xiamoi's Android One line
