Hi...
Can anybody help, my Display is dying at the moment, and i want to send it in for repair,
but i need to restore the original bootloader,
can anybody help, download link for the bootloader and manual,,instruction..
Many thanks
Markus
I think you can download the official firmware somewhere, when you flash it everything should be back to the way it was.
What version of firmware do you need? WWE? T-Mobile? Orange?
If it's the WWE 2.73 version - click here - This will restore the phone to factory settings including bootloader/ROM/Default Settings e.t.c
Hello,
I tried to flash the UCP cited for the same screen problem. I checked my windows drivers are correct (sync between the hero and the perfect pc). Every time I have the same error message, 170 which would normally be bad drivers, which should not be my case since retry several times. I mark the following 170: wrong version of bootloader. The same thing happens whether on a PC or XP win7.
Does anyone have a solution please??

There is a thread called "usb and ruu issues solved" by BTDAG. That should sort you out.
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
Hello all
Today I got the notification of an update available from HTC for my unlocked Titan (on Three UK), currently on 8107.
Yet again another HTC update that does not tell what it is for, but I decide to install it anyway.
However, the update process fails every time with error 801812DC (see pictures attached), saying that there is a problem in the back-up of the phone.
Rebooting the phone, the computer and connect/disconnect did not help, always the same.
Also, this error is not included in the list on windowsphone.com.
Anyone with the same issue?
Thanks
maTTeo
EDIT: Solved. Probably I did not have enough space on disk for the backup.
EDIT2: No, not solved. Now I have space, but still same problem.

I got the update too!
I am installing it now - I am guessing it's the drivers fix for 8107 based on the back up creation steps it has followed. If I get the error, I will update it. I am on step 7. Hope this is a fix and not another lock down update!
HEADS UP: those who want custom ROM etc, DONT update just yet.
EDIT: At step 9 - my phone restarted. I unlocked the screen and it said 'Update successful'. However since last 7 minutes my Zune is stuck at step 9 and says 'restarting your phone'
Did you check that you have enough free space to create the backup?

Actually no. Thanks for the hint, this could have been the reason.
However, I tried again the update after closing a few applications (which were possibly using some space on disk), and the update was succesful.
Now after the update I realise I have only 6 Gb left on my C: drive.
Anyway, if that was the reason, why not to say: "Disk full" instead of "Error 801812DC"???? What does Microsoft expect from their users?
Thank you all for your support!

I am having the same error message. How much space did you free up?
I now have 11.3GB free on my C: drive and it is still not working. Same error every time.

How much space are you using on your phone? You need at min the same free space... If you can't then delete all the music etc to make the backup smaller

Tried a new cable and no joy, also deleted all the music off my phone. Really don't want to factory reset so might wait for another update to come out.
Again, 801812DC
And here I am again, Tango update, same problem.
So I can confirm it was NOT due to lack of hard drive space. Now I have 30 Gb free on my hard drive, and 6 Gb of memory used on my Titan. Still, 801812DC.
Anybody figured a solution?

What's ur current spl/boot loader version? You need to upgrade to most recent htc spl 2.6 which meant to address error in updating with Zune.

No clue about SPL, where do I find it?
Found the update from HTC here:
http://www.htc.com/www/help/htc-titan/#download
HTC says it addresses errors 80070013 / 8007000F, hopefully mine too.
Now I have applied it, will try the update to Tango again.

Thanks habnzrot, but unfortunately no, even after installing Bootloader 2.6 from HTC, same problem. Backup interrupts at 11%, phone restarts and error.
Any help?
maTTeo
Ok, really tried everything now, including:
- Updating SPL to 2.6 (latest available from HTC)
- Unliking the phone to Zune
- Reinstalling Zune and pairing the phone again
- Deleting the folder "Windows Phone Backup" as suggested by someone on the internet
- Running Zune as Administrator
- Deleting most of the apps from the phone
- Creating even more disk space on my computer
- Using another USB cable (instead of the stock HTC USB cable)
I phoned HTC support, and their solution is hard reset. If, after that, still does not work, I have to send my phone to repair.
Obviously I would like to leave hard reset as last option.
I noticed so many other people have the same problem:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...&CurrentScope.Filter=wp7&askingquestion=false
But no-one can answer. I wonder:
- Why this error code is not included in the web page I am sent to, by Zune, to check the error code?
- There must be ONE guy at Microsoft, who implemented this error code. Why they are not answering and telling us what it is?
I am very frustrated.
Cheers

Have you tried updating with another computer?
Also, try this:
1. Run services.msc (If you're using Windows XP, press Start, click Run, type services.msc then press Enter. If you're using Windows Vista or later with no Run in the Start menu, type services.msc in the search box then press Enter.)
2. Look for the "Automatic Updates" service, make sure it is started. If not, start it. Change its startup type to Automatic.
3. Look for the "Background Intelligent Transfer Service" service, make sure it is started. If not, start it. Change its startup type to Manual.
4. Look for the "Automatic Updates" service, make sure it is started. If not, start it. Change its startup type to Automatic.
I'm also having the same issue doing the force update trick however I'm getting a different Update Error Code 80180048!!
I've searched the web and tried every solution but still no success??

I think the update route is not an option anymore. You should try to flash the firmware with Nokia Care Suite
So.. I downloaded and installed NCS and got files from Navifirm.
However, when I go to Recovery, the Product Support tool doesn't see the data packages - tried rescan, and I have preferences to search in the location where the data is.
Am I missing a step? I have them downloaded, but is there an installation for the data package I'm missing?
Thanks for any help!

Copythe folder holding the files you got from Navifirm to C:\ProgramData\Nokia\Packages\Products and rename the folder to the model number (as in 'RM-801' for the EU Lumia 800)
Then in NCP do File>open product and select the correct product
Sending the language cabs fixed this for me. No need to reflash or lose any data.
Goodbye for Now, Lumia..
Thank you all for the very helpful and instructive comments.
I did in fact attempt to use cabsender to send all language files to the Lumia; failed. Then tried one at a time; also failed. That's turned out to be the death nell (sp?)
I finally got the hang of NCS, got the correct files to appear, and also did the manual driver installations for x64. NCS could read my phone, but when I did the actual recovery, no matter what the phone just would not go into recovery. Would always power up and stick me either on starting or on checking mode. I even tried different button hold combos and then just not pressing anything - to no avail.
So it left me with a phone that could take and receive phone calls, but no access to ANYTHING requiring alpha input - including SMS and email.
Looking back, I think I may have also had a hardware issue. I could never get bluetooth to keep a connection properly - and many other RM-801 owners told me theirs worked fine; mine was not under warranty so was stuck. I don't know if that had anything to do with the phone rejecting the language files for 8112 and 8773, or with it not responding to any flash attempts - but wouldn't be surprised.
Today, I am thanking the Gods that I never got around to selling my HD7. I recommissioned it and got the new SIM for it and it's up and running nicely now. I figure if anyone dumps a Lumia *900 for less than $100, I'll go for it, but otherwise am intending to use this until I get my hands on a WP8 near the end of the year.
I found to my surprise that using the larger screen on the HD7 though less pretty was really refreshing. I love the form factor of the Lumia 800, but I think the Metro UI really deserves a bigger screen.
Anyway, congrats to all who had success and again many thanks to those who tried to help me yesterday and last night. Am sure we'll connect again when we have our Lumia Liquid Metal PureView WP8's!
Cheers,

Try doing a simple refurbish instead of recovery. It doesn't require any buton acrobatics, just plug the phone in after starting NCS. The only trick in this case involves renaming the ROM files to match your phones Product Code, If you choose to flash with different variant.

Interesting; I'll give it a try!
I did remember that cabsender does a restore, but that didn't work.
I thought of the refurbish, but the software wouldn't appear. I will try your method after work tonight. Might be the trick.
Still suspicious of my phone's hardware, but man, I can live with it until WP8..

Don't even bother with cabsender recovery - it uses Zune and Zune backups are uttterly useless.
NCS recovery means flashing a dead phone (or playing dead to force a different variant ROM) - that's where you need VolUp while powering on.
NCS refurbish means flashing a working phone - you plug it in normally and ROM file names must match your product code.

Hey Skrypek, you just SAVED me!! The file renaming followed by refurbish did the trick!
Also used your method to update to a UK Variant of Tango for the RM-801 - and went SMOOTHLY with no downloading and screwing around with language packs or cab files. Everything is running perfectly and can access all alpha functions SMS MMS, Email, Wifi, About Phone - i.e. every single thing that had been malfunctioning before.
I am now a strong fan of Navifirm + Nokia Care Suite - VERY easy to work with.
Now I just have to visit the T-Mobile folks and get a new microsim card!
(edit, feeling adventurous again, I cut my SIM card - SUCCESS - so now don't have to shell out another $20 to T-Mobile )
Many thanks!
I really thought I had a brick and had posted an ebay auction for parts; glad I was able to snag the listing back!
Cheers,
Skrypek..
Did I tell you you're amazing?
Thanks again!!!!
Nice to have my Lumia back!!!
As the title suggests, I'm stuck on firmware version 1600.2483.8107.11501. I bought the device from Amazon UK a couple of days ago because they were selling them at £200 It is a UK country variant, product code 059L7C2.
Zune says no updates available, but there have been at least 3 firmware updates since the one I am stuck on. I've tried the disconnect trick, still no updates available. I've tried both Zune and WP Connector for Mac, still nothing.
I've contacted Nokia support, but I was wondering if anyone had a similar issue and any suggestions how to resolve it?
- Will
I had the same problem mate....just follow one of the other threads of how to use the "CAB sender installer" and install the new CABS(updates) yourself.
Its really easy to do, good luck.
So I downloaded Nokia Care Suite and flashed the latest 059L7C2 ROM. Strangely enough, before I flashed that, NCS couldn't read the product ID from my device, so I guess that is why I could have been having issues getting updates.
Now on 1600.2487.8107.12070. I guess it's just a matter of waiting for the update now.

Ok good job.
That is one way, but by using the NCS you lose all of your data etc...if you use the WP7 Update CAB sender you keep all your data.
Also on the forums someone has posted the latest updates as CAB files so you don't really need to wait for the update through Zune you can do it yourself now.
Yeah, new phone though, so no data on it, so I figured reflashing it isn't a biggie.
I'm doing the first of those cabs now, but I'd rather update via Zune tbh.

Yeah I totally understand.
The weird thing was when I went down this route, after each installed CAB I tried to see if Zune offered the next update...and after the second CAB the third OEM update was instantly offered to me, so I took the Zune upgrade route for the last part.

My phone is stuck on an old version but has the QC bootloader. I've been trying forever to get NCS to update my phone but I don't believe I can use NCS cause it's the QC. I just wanna confirm my suspicion.

I have the unlocked bootloader Qualcomm, but this will only help you if you want to flash a custom ROM? I'm a Noob so I could be talking crap
No idea, bootloader version is 7.41.0.0 if that helps. The problem was beforehand that it didn't seem to want to give NCS any details about the device, after using recovery mode to flash the 1600.2487.8107.12070 ROM, the device is recognised correctly in NCS.
Anyway, I'm now on 1750.0805.8773.12220.
After resetting to 1600.2487.8107.12070 via NCS, I installed the 8112 and 8773 cabs from here, and after those 2 updates had installed Zune offered me the Nokia update which updated the firmware to 1750.0805.8773.12220.
So, I'm all sorted and hopefully this will help anyone stuck on a firmware version.

Good news, just as I said then
If you ever wanted to know how to tell if your bootloader is unlocked or not, just power off the phone, power on holding volume up as well until the haptic feedback...then plug in the USB cable to your PC and the disk should come up as a USB Mass Storage Device, if it doesn't then its a locked bootloader.

I wanted to post in the development section, but it requires 10 posts or more.Thing is, I flashed it and all, NSS reported OS was written succesfully, but it won't boot past the Nokia screen.I tried hard resetting but it doesn't vibrate, it shows up as a NAND flash device in NSS,windows also picks it up so I guess it's alive.Thing is, how do I reflash it to its Original FW and Hard Reset it, it's a T-Mobile UK branded one.

I used that Lumia 800 FullUnlock ROM.
Help is greatly appreciated, as this isn't my phone and I would have to pay 400 euros for a new one if this doesn't work.
try this:
- disconnect the phone from pc
- wait a minute or more
- keep pressing power button ~10 sec, then release it
- if it still doesn't powering, keep pressing vol up button, release it, then keep pressing power button.
mine is a tmobile uk, too. after the phone goes to OSBL mode, the only way to start phone normally, is through the method i described.
good luck!
I did that, still nothing, stuck on Nokia logo. The partitions are all shown, in NSS pro there are 1-8 partitions, in ubuntu there is sdc1-9.On which partition is the OS and on which is the bootloader?
