Any roms with good google wallet support? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I am tired of waiting for att to get done with their stupid google wallet rip off, assuming it will even support the GS3 at this point.
Is there any roms with almost-native google wallet support? Like install it off the play store and use it without that much tinkering? Since the sprint version of the S3 has wallet support I have high hopes that someone figured out how to do it. XD

I don't think you can.. It would defeat the purpose of trying out Wallet.
lol yeah i suppose so
Nope
Yeah unfortulently you can not use it in the store. Have talked to support about this and they said it is a no go, like stated above they want you to use the NFC to use the Prepaid

Amazon & play store?

ok just hearing these rumors of there not being a play store on this devices is that true or not somebody please confirm
Lmao, not true at all. Most of the fuss was just pushing Amazon into our phones going forward. I promise you that the phone comes with the Play store installed.

[Q] Google wallet alternative

Okay after reading through the forums, it appears that for the time being while we can install Google wallet, it is useless. I have also read that the VZW Isis payments are area specific for now. So my question is are there any other alternative apps that we can use to do the same thing? Thanks!
My thought, after having looked around, is there is nothing else like gw, ATM. That may change, but for now, nothing. Isis might be ok, but I think we are probably years away from that getting fully ramped up. Think about it this way, Verizon has yet to even roll it out, them, merchants have to agree to use it and pay their fees, and have to feel like it will generate enough revenue to be worth the cost of new hardware and fees associated with the service. Google got in on an already existing technology, where Verizon's Isis, I think, is totally new. Just my thoughts anyway, I might be way off.
But the upside...we got root in two days, you think these devs are done????? No way. I think several would pony up a bounty for it. It'll come.

Plus one. At least give us a competing product. I feel like I'm renting my phone from them, the way they exert control over their customers is unreal.
I doubt it will ever be enabled. They will be using ISIS believe.
We may have to wait til we get AOSP based roms. I've tried multiple things to get wallet to work. Not going to lie, this is one reason I bough this phone was to use google wallet.

I'm guessing he didn't know it wouldn't be supported beforehand. Probably just saw that it had nfc capabilities and assumed it would be.

Verizon has been vocal about not supporting wallet on their devices. Heck, I think sprint is the only one of the big 4 that actually allows it.

I would say it's not going to be too long before Google waps them upside the head with a suit. Verizon said no NFC mobile payment system, then releases Isis in certain markets claiming Isis uses a "secure element" and Google Wallet does not.
My guess is that Google will have a petition for injunction with the court shortly and VZW will be forced to share the requirements that allowed Isis to be used, then GW will be changed and when VZW refuses to allow it to be used again, Google will have a field day with VZW in the legal system.
One could only hope Google sues them.
It feels like I bought an Apple with all the stuff I can and can't do.
I made a topic on the Verizon website. Let's see what they come up with. Please feel free to post. Voice your opinions:

I was a big Google wallet user when I had my nexus. Verizon is NOT blocking Google wallet. The problem is somewhat complex, but simplisticly speaking, to make it work, Google needs help from Verizon to use the secure element, Google can't do it on there own. Verizon will NOT help and the reason isn't totally clear, as originally Verizon said they couldn't help Google because they had a CONTRACT with Isis, and could not violate the contract. They have since not been hiding behind that reason, but with the threat of Isis sueing them, Google wallet is hands off.
The good news (or better anyway) that just because Verizon won't help, developers can. With other Verizon phones, ROMS have in fact supported it and make it work.
Earlier I said complex issue, and the complexity is that to PROPERLYmake wallet work and be A SECURE system with all the versions of android etc is not easy.
Google could easily make it work, but it can't be a success if it isn't safe and secure and would be a theft target in this form.
So our hope to see it work on this phone, is left up to the development community.
Last thing to think about is if the secure element gets changed, it will have to be dealt with again, and the developers are again the only hope for Google wallet.
Hope that clears some of it up.

sorry to tell you sir but you are wrong. verizon has always requested that this app is blocked with google and the software they approve per device. plus the nexus did not work unless you side loaded the app

Not sure which part I am wrong in, however you are correct in the fact that they requested the app not be available in Google because they did not support it. That is why I said this is complex, but if that is what you call blocking then I guess (in its rawest form) you are correct and consider it blocked on the surface, however if you side loaded it it did work, and was not blocked from working. (just maybe a definition of blocked) is our arguement. I have a nexus too and Google wallet works perfect everytime not blocked.
The big question regardless of this, is then for the DNA users as follows: you can go to playstore and download Google wallet and no matter what you do, it does not work? Why you ask? Is Verizon blocking it? Depending on your definition of blocked then the answer is maybe? I say they are not blocking it from working on the network. Is it fair to say they are blocking it by not supporting it?
Not to make this any more unclear, but there is apparently discussion as to whether the nfc specs for the DNA can commuicate properly for Google wallet anyway. I wouldn't put it past Verizon to cripple the hardware.

I don't think we will ever have Google wallet. This is a response from DSB9938, reply 84 on his system write kernel.
Besides the fact that this is not a Wallet thread, our phone has no secure element.

Google wallet in its current form needs secure element. So unless Google changes that... we are SOL
The reason we can get it on the store is because Verizon lost a case in court and was forced to allow it, so now this is their plan b.
