Need some help getting up to date - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hey whats up guys. Need a lil help here. I have a Razr Maxx System version 6.16.211.xt912.verizon.en.us Android ver. 4.0.4
I have it rooted and have Safestrap v3.05 loaded and was using the eclipse rom.
I got a official update notice from verizon and its been awhile since I have done any of this and just wanted to know a few things I seem to be having problems with.
To update to the latest version of Andriod how do I need to do this? I tried to load the new roms but they wont work and I am assuming its because either I need to update my safestrap or to do it through bootloader. I forget lol.
When I had my thunderbolt doing all this seemed alot easier.
Also some suggested roms would be nice

Now that you have updated you can find ROMs for the new kernel over at http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/forum/156-droid-razr-roms-for-the-jelly-bean-kernel-xt912/ there's even a kernel compatible utility that works magic on your phone to make the older ROMs work check it out hope I helped.

OTA update ?

Hey guys, I'm kind of new to the rooting scene yet and I heard Verizon pushed an update out that fixes a lot of things with the tb. If I apply this update from the settings menu will it unrooot and turn s-on back on? I have not updated my device since I got it, about 2 months ago. I am running bamf Rom , at least I think that's the name of it . version 1.6 .3 something like that. so, what do I have to do to get my radio updated and everything else updated without losing my root or s off ? I see a bunch of topics that have to do with RUU BUT I don't understand what that means

I don't think you will be able to if your running bamf. You need to flash the new radio in the bootloader, then any Rom based off the new ruu to apply the fixes and keep s-off. Check to op of your rom

Read the first post in the BAMF thread. If you are running v1.6.3 and you installed it correctly, you already have the update, it's based on the leaked copy of the Verizon update that's out now.

This is exactly correct... AND NEVER ACCEPT AN OTA WHILE ROOTED! IT COULD CAUSE THERMO-NUCLEAR WAR...LOL. No really though, people who are trying to install the ota even with the stock ROM are getting stuck in a boot loop.
Just to reiterate op, if you are rooted you have no reason to install any ota ever! The developers incorporate it into their roms long before an ota starts. And...as long as you are rooted with s-off never install an ota! You quite frankly never know what will happen...
Hope this helps...

im pretty sure das bamf 1.6.3 already has the latest ota update included. its based of the 1.13.605.7 ruu, which is the one included in the ota. so if your on that rom theres no need to apply the update, you already have it. i personally never accept ota's since most of the time you can find a rom that will include it way before the actual ota is released. and usually with way better features included

ICS is live now for Razr/Maxx!

Head over to settings, about phone, system updates to grab now!
yep, just downloaded it. then thought that maybe I should revert to a non safestrap system and uninstall Safestrap. Now for some reason I am having to re-download it... Oh well, Im about to have an official ICS update!
Now I gotta worry about rerooting, and I was thinking about running a rom like eclipse. Big day lol
I'm fastbooting back to stock in hopes I'll get a nice smooth update, does anyone know of any root methods that work on the official ICS build?
I assume u are all in the US.im in SOUTH AFRICA. GSM handset, just got the 2.3.6 update, but not going to install it. Want to skip straight to ICS. Any links for GSM ICS leaks?

there was an option for it in Matt's Utility... haven't tried it yet to excited that I finally got the ICS
Is this official ota different from the .211 leak? If it is, is there going to be a way for us that are running .211 to manually update to the ota? Since they had to fix some bugs I figured there was a new build date and all.

Download OTA Rootkeeper from the play store, it restored my root when i upgraded on razr maxx
Downloaded and went smooth as silk. Phone was rooted and I installed rootkeeper. Was in root state when I received the update. All suggested battery saver apps were disabled. Phone still downloaded the update. Downloaded with WIFI. The update removed root but rootkeeper rerooted the phone. The only think I had to do was change the data back to 4G. Everything seems great so far.
i have updated
yes you are right ics update now availble iam from Egypt and now i enjoy ics
its really smooth but the cam is not as clear as gingbread and not fast shot
if someone can helpe mer to give me kernel

Losing Signal Connection after appling a Custom ROM

I'm not new to the flashing ROM game but I am new to the Motorola Droid RAZR. I had a Eris and laetly i had a Droid X2 but now I have a Droid RAZR (CDMA) Starting on 4.0.4 i have tried to flash over two different ROMS ( Eternity Project v3 and Eclipse)
Eternity Project flashed over just right but I had no signal connection. I think that is due to it being a GSM ROM that i later found out. Eclipse didnt flash over the first time using BOOTmenu Manager. Had to use SafeStrap. Everything looked good after reboot but after looking into it, it was should on the stock ROM.
Im kinda stuck on what to do next - i have been reading about some kind of patch? IS this what i need to install / apply? I really like the Eternity Project so if theres a way to have that - it would be nice.
Thanks EhB
I've never heard of a patch to get GSM ROMs to work with CDMA phones I know of CDMA ones to GSM, but you can ask the developer of the ROM.

A Strange Confusion... Need to Debate

Guys,
I want you to debate on my strange confusion...
I'm currently on Stock 2.3.4 198_7 and using Mof's v2.
My question is we don't have any SBF of 2.3.5 if we messed up our phone... So we have to use 2.3.4 as base to do anything.. :silly:
If we want to use 2.3.5, there is only OTA!!!!! And OTA only works with 198_6
So in case in future if Moto releases ICS & JB (I know I'm too optimistic) do we need a base of 2.3.5 or we will be able to update it from 198_6/7 base?
I thinks we should prepare ourselves for all the situations.
1. We must have 198_6 Stock for future use
2. We must have 2.3.5 OTA for future use
or
Will Moto release SBF? But again they might need base as 2.3.5!!! Who knows?
What you people say..

i think the developers here will build Roms on the official ICS release and we can install them with unlocked boot loader. So it im guessing its better if we stuck with the unlocked boot loader versions for now
I think ICS update won't be the same OTA update with patches, we had until now. There could be whole flashable partitions. I wonder what happened to webtop partition in RAZR after ICS update, for example.

You might be right but What if we stuck unlocked.. means no 4G.. Then?

Lets pray, but If its a flashable SBF then again it won't be unlockable like 2.3.5... :silly: Means no customization...
So Either we will be on 2.3.4 or Stucked with ICS..

After a ton of digging, screaming at Moto and chatting with OMAP Moto owners, it looks like the /osh (Webtop) partition is simply abandoned. In other words, you don't get the storage space back and the phone treats it as if it never existed.
(You can imagine how diehard Webtop users have responded to this and the dock+webtop3.0 issues)
Don't lose hope though. It may not be a perfect solution but there's is word of something in the works.
Glad, you're back, Loki. Thanks for answering. I take anything Motorola comes with in ICS, because when it comes, I will be buying new Moto phone probably. This one is starting to be slow for me.

New ota update " 3-15-2013"

I will attempt to go back to the leak version and grab the update info for whoever want or need to know what it is wish me luck I have a lot of moto/ cricket flashing to do

The official ota jb changes kernels that's why the ROMs won't work.
