How fellow HTC One owners, how are doing? I'm a long time sprint customer who just moved over to AT&T along with this new shiny the device.
Obviously Sprint is a bit cheaper then AT&T but I decided to pay a bit more for better LTE coverage. But in order for me to afford AT&T I ended up cutting out the optional text messaging, but of course I intend to text message and would like to keep my current sprint number which I had for over 5 years.
What do you guys suggest I do, is Google Voice my only option? Is it a good idea to port my sprint number to Google Voice or port it to my new AT&T account?
I want to be able to send and receive text while displaying my sprint number I also want to make phone calls with my current sprint number.
Any suggestions welcome

i think facebook messenger allows free texting but not 100% sure on that
Sprint was 87 bucks with tax
ATT is 40 + 20 unlimited text + 30 for data . 98 bucks .
But anyways, you can use text plus, kik, or Google voice.

Hey all,
I need some help getting my Eris on the PagePlus network.
http://www.pagepluscellular.com/
I bought my Eris used and with no contract. Clean ESN as well.
I called my local PagePlus office, but they won't have anyone that can program the Eris for another month or so. I can't wait that long.
Does anyone here know what I need to do to get it setup correctly?
The rep mentioned it has something to do with "opera mini" and not actually flashing the phone. Just setting up the info.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Even if I have to go through a different office. I just need this setup ASAP!
Also... I am going for the 1,200 Minutes / 1,200 SMS/MMS / 50 MB Data = $29.95 plan. This seems to be their best data plan. Anyone using this service able to use it with the Eris well? I will ONLY download apps and big stuff on my wifi network. I am not a data hog and would only check emails while away from wifi.
Thnx in advance!

Just go on ebay and look for "page plus activation" pay the 1.00 and give the ESN. I have the eris on pp but i cant get mms to work (most likely its me... )
Thnx Joey =) Doing this now =)
WOW! This couldn't have been easier!
I bought an eBay auction for $1.99 because the $1.00 auctions were for new activation with a new number. I ported my number over from Sprint. The auction led me to: www.KittyWireless.com
INCREDIBLE SERVICE!!! She is a one person operation. I know this because she has a LIVE chat thing on her site for answering questions. She handled all the calls and setup between Sprint & PagePlus. All I had to do was supply basic info. Uber easy.
On top of that, she offers a little discount on the normal monthly service! Normal price for the "Talk N Text 1200" is $29.95. My cost was $26.00 ... awesome.
That auction was the BEST $1.99 I ever spent =)
As for the setup of my Eris in the PagePlus network? Simple. From the time I bought the eBay auction and filled out my info on Kitty's website... I was making calls in under 2 hours. All I had to do was wait for her email, put the battery back in the Eris, and dial *22890. Everything works perfectly. Voice, Data, SMS, MMS. No problems at all.
Because of only getting 50MB with the plan, I will use it sparingly. I have access to WiFi 95% of my day. No biggie.
I am really liking this service so far and I HIGHLY recommend www.KittyWireless.com to ANYONE who doesn't want a contract. but DOES want excellent service!!!
(i know... i sound like a commercial... but she is THAT good)

So you got mms without doing anything other than activating? I have been unable to get mms working at all... I really think I need my account reset with page plus then.
Just call Page Plus and tell them to activate data / mms on your phone. Usually it's not automatically activated unless you call in and tell them. Likely they will tell you that it is active, or it can't be activated on your phone, just politely insist that they activate it. The CSR's aren't too bright.
I went to kitty and did an ESN reset. That fixed my mms issue.
Just trying to help next time
just pm and ill activate at no charge
I was wondering i have 2 droid eris phones and im going to be leaving verizon but i know they wont clear my esn, since i will be putting my verizon bill in my bankruptcy will i be able to go to Pages plus and use their service, also ive seen companies that UNLOCK your phone will i be able to do that with my eris droids. Im new to all this stuff and trying to figure it out.

If your phones don't have a clean ESN with Verizon, then they won't have a clean ESN with PagePlus. PagePlus is a Verizon MVNO. You would have to flash your devices to another carrier such as Cricket.
I transferred over my 2 droids to Pages plus from verizon, i took 2 old phones i had and activated them in the place of the droids and kept the data plan. the ESN #s came back clean with Pages plus so i transfered them and activated them and bought airtime they now work on Pages plus.
Now could Verizon come back and block those ESN #s in say a month and could i get kicked off of Pages plus?
Since i now have them active with Pages plus can verizon do anything to those phones or are they untouchable?

I don't know if they'll still be able to ban the ESN or not, but if they are able to do this and do it, then you will not be automatically kicked off; you will still be able to use your phone. However, if you ever have to deactivate and reactivate your phone on the network (for an issue or something), you won't be able to get it reactivated.
Rooted?
i have a rooted eris. i called the page plus and they said my esn showed an unknown device. Can i still activate it?
You can activate it. It is unknown because its not officially supported.

I put an eris on PP when they first came out, worked great. I looking at buying another soon. Now the down side, Verizon changes the access at will regarding what PP can put on their net. If you already have it paid and making calls on PP, they are still allowing this. and the dealer is right, it is as simple as configuring the device to find PP when you go to log on. I have the 1200/1200 on my HTC Ozone and it works perfect. soooo, stay in touch and if i get this eris tonight I will try to get it configured and let you know the steps.

There are several great threads on Howardforums regarding how best to set up an Android phone to stay within the 50mb, for those looking for that info. I'm actually here now researching and looking to buy an Eris to activate like this for a friend. Which Rom are most of you using with pageplus and why?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I don't think any rom really changes anything with page plus. I use celb froyo personally I download launcher pro I like that better than adw which comes with the rom. Just get 3g watchdog and you're good to go!

I used to have a dumbphone, but my sister upgraded to an Iphone 4 and she gave me her old Atrix 4G. So now I'm thinking about getting a data plan for my phone.
I currently have at&t pay as you go. I don't call at all, probably only use 10 mins in a month. I do text though, not too much, maybe about 100 per month. Pay as you go let's me spend my money only on messaging and not waste it on voice. With this, I usually only pay around $8 a month. I've been using this setup for about 4 years now
Now I'm looking to get data. I still wanna have some messaging, but I'd rather not get voice minutes.
T-mobile had a nice plan, "monthly 4G": unlimited web, unlimited messaging, 100 voice mins, $30. Too bad the Atrix doesn't work with T-mobile 4G
any suggestions for a similar setup? Basically I'm looking for a plan that give me some messaging, a lot of data, and no (or very low) voice mins.
tl;dr
- looking for data only plan, no voice minutes for Atrix 4g. Like what t-mobile has right now.
Thanks
Call AT&T. They will advise you of any options you may have in that regard. The vast majority of folk here are presumably not AT&T salespeople!

So i was wondering if you guys have some suggestions, even non att plans that'll work with the atrix
I've been wondering.
When I signed up to Google Voice, I had a Google Voice # & a Sprint #.
Once the Sprint Integration with Google Voice came, I ported the Sprint Number into Google Voice & lost the Google Voice given number after 90 days, no biggie.
Now my Sprint Number is a Google Voice Number.
My Question is, if I were to get out of my Sprint Contract (via buyout/ETF), would I lose/keep the integrated Sprint # that's been ported to Google Voice?
Would I be able to redo the integration steps, effectively keeping the phone number for a newer EVO?
P.S. No I'm not leaving Sprint, the motive is in my signature. I plan on rejoining, the same day I cancel. My yearly upgrade strategy.

And sweet betsy, it was like asking a random stranger what trains to catch to get to Yonkers from Battery Park.
Waay over their head, I felt bad after the call.

did the same as you did, but once i re did my set up, I did not load GV as part of a sprint set up, but did it manually where it will " skip" the sprint influence.
If you do and run in to any issues, make sure you set it up manual, it should release the # and if it doesn't , well then the above statment is correct , you will need to call sprint...

If you have your Google voice number tied into your sprint number and are thinking to cancel with Sprint.... Just untie your Google voice number to Sprint... There is an option for that when you log into Google voice with a browser.
Here is the how to:
http://support.google.com/voice/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1207078
That's a good idea....
Guys, the point is not to untie the number, it's just wanting to know if you'd be able to keep the integration, which I'm also curious of!
Does canceling and activating a new account make you a brand new customer or do you retain your 'history' with sprint?

That's the only part I know , you do retain your history. So when loyalty perks return, you'll still have them.
Retentions told me that aspect was safe when I upgraded via buyout to the 3D last year.
When I signed up for Sprint a year ago. I got the EVO 3d for 50 bucks. after3 months I Sold my EVO shiftto radioshack for 185 dollars. Added a new line and got a EVO 3d. Well I suspendedthe new line and put the 3d on my orginal line.
Well i called complained about my new line never getting suspended. They took it off completely lol.
I just did exactly this and was worried about losing my number. Here's the step-by-step process:
(If you haven't already, attach your new phone/service to Google Voice before starting this process.)
1) Login to Google Voice and click Disable next to the Sprint Integration.
2) It will warn you that Google Voice is going to lose the Sprint number, which sounds scary - proceed anyway, you'll rescue it shortly.
3) Proceeding hands the number back to your Sprint account. You now need to port it.
4) Click Get a Google Voice Number
5) Click Use My Existing Mobile Number
This begins the porting process. Google is going to have you enter payment info to pay a $20 porting fee. You'll need your Sprint Account Number and your Sprint phone on hand. You can get your Sprint Account Number by logging into sprint.com or by calling them.
The porting takes 24 hours to port the number and 3 business days to switch text messages over. Interestingly once it completes, the Sprint account is cancelled - you don't have to call them to cancel. However, I called them anyway, and they said to call them after 5 business days to verify it really is cancelled. So perhaps you're best calling them just to verify they do their job.
Thanks man,
I hope this goes smoothly as I'll be buying out of the contract & upgrading within the same day.
I'm going through the same thing. The advise given is the best: Port your number to GV and just get a new number from the new carrier. Worth the $20 I guess.
Alright so I know this question is asked often, but I've only been able to find old answers or answers related to other odd services and other phones.
Is anyone using google voice to avoid using ANY minutes?
I swear I had it working but it could have been my imagination...
I just checked my phone minutes and I'm already over 9 days into the period (on a 200 minute plan) There are a lot of 1 minute calls, which make some sense if it's GV placing the call and then switching to data since I know the numbers listed acording to verizon are GV routing numbers and not real numbers I'm dialing... everytime I answer a call I get a prompt from GV asking to press one to accept a call (could be different now as far as I know since i've stopped listening to the message a long time ago)
So anyone on the rezound have success with this? I'm considering doing a 4g data only plan until my contract is out and then moving to a 45 unlimited prepaid GSM service... I'm tired of paying 100+ a month for a smartphone, and with unlimited data being axed... F U VERIZON YOU FAT COW!!!
yeah.. i do this all the time on my data-only tablets.
you need sipdroid, google-voice, and a magic jack.
I believe they require voice service on phones.
I use all data. Use groove ip It's a really worthwhile buy. Pm me if you need instructions on pure Google voice calling .

Verizon won't let you do a data-only plan on a phone. You HAVE to have a voice plan. I know it sucks. I can literally go a month and use 0 minutes on my phone but I still had to pay $40 for the 450 minute plan.

There is a legacy 200 minute plan... it's not advertised but if you're consistently using no minutes ask them for it
just curious why so many do this. You have to have a voice plan on your phone, you get free mobile to mobile, and on my plan I also can add 10 land lines to it that don't count against me.
Why jump through the hoops when you don't have to?
My main reason to not use google voice/talk for voice and texting is that I have 2 kids on the acct and I want it as simple as possible for them.
I didn't know there was a 200 minute plan, I think the most I've used that counted towards my minutes is about 100... The only thing that counts is calling a landline during the day. Most months I use only 50 minutes or less even though I probably use the phone close to an hour a day on average or more.
I like using google voice for voice nail but everything sounds so bad usually. It is the same way when making calls?
Folks, I've posted this in the Samsung forums as well but just purchased a week old HTC One today and seem to be having the same issue. I am taking my ATT LTE sim out of my Iphone 4, but before doing that I sign out of my apple account and also turn off Imessage on my iphone, i'm still not getting text messages from my wifes Iphone nor a coworkers Iphone. Can someone chime in and maybe help me here a little. Does this take a little time to work or should it work instantly when I change sim cards from one phone to another? Any help at all would be appreciated to try to solve this issue. I just got a text from my brother in Cali and he has an android so it seems to be just the Iphones.
thank you all.
also, I just restored my iphone to stock and no luck yet getting texts from Iphones.
Make sure that they update your account and provision it for a htc phone vs iPhone.
