This is my third note. And just like my previous one, a area on the screen (bottom right corner) has formed were the touch is less responsive and it has a different texture. I don't think that this is a residue but rather a burn or maybe something has rubbed off. Again, this is the second time this has happened and in the same exact place. Any help on what I should do would be appreciated.

What case are you using, where do you keep your phone, if this is the second phone to do this then something is going on on your end, I'm just curious as to what do we can eliminate causes
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
I'm on my second Note and I've had the same problem on both. The middle-left part of the screen is covered in dead pixels & scratches. I'm honestly not sure how, I've got the iVisor AG screen protector (peice of crap, falls off after a day of distorting your screen) and the Flip Cover so scratching should NOT be happening. I love the phones performance, but damn if it doesn't have hardware issues.
Worst part is ATT has refused to replace it because it still works. If I run a "Premium Bike Shop" and I sell you some rusty POS unicycle that instead of a seat has a rhyno horn sticking straight up I'm going to replace it for what you paid for. I'm not going to say "Well that tires still spin, don't they?"
Magnet
Does your flip cover have a magnetic catch? If so, is the magnet located just about the bad area on the screen?
I baby my phone. Definitely not any fault on my end.

Small claims court is a beautiful thing.
Sue AT&T for the cost of a new phone, the ~$36 filing fee, any lost wages (for time spent both filing and the day you will spend in court) and a small amount extra for your time (the usual standard is to add the amount your income 'lost' for the time you spent in court & filing AGAIN to the total). You could also add a couple of extra hours of your normal working wage for the time you spent preparing the case as well.
In the long run, if you loose, all youve lost is ~$36 and one day worth of wages but if you win, AT&T will be forced to replace the cost of the phone and hopefully be penalized extra in the process.
Oh, and the 'cost of the phone' bit is if you were to buy it OFF contract because you wont be able to buy it ON contract since you already 'have' a contract.
Bring plenty of documentation proving your returns, the reason for the returns and evidence that this is happening to other people. Your AT&T contract probably isnt a bad idea to bring as well.
Ok I'm not going to sue anyone. I still have a one year warranty right? So that should take care of me for now. And if I am lucky maybe they will exchange one right then and there at the store. The thing that bothers me the most is that what if this happens again? Is it some sort of design flaw? Or did I really just get unlucky twice in a row.

Well I got 2 notes about 3 weeks ago and no issues yet... But I know Samsung have issues sometimes because I returned like 8 galaxy tabs 10.1 because of the oil slick issue on screen... Finally settled for the AT&T 8.9 galaxy version...

I have had this one about 6 weeks before I noticed the problem. Same with the other note. Hopefully att wont be a holes about it and actually help me out. I don't enjoy forking over 300+ dollars for a device that doesn't work correctly.

I downloaded touch test and saw a small less responsive area on the bottom right corner. Question why does the pen touch look 100x less laggy in that app than when actually using it for memos drawing etc...
I'm hoping for better for better s pen response in the future. Or should I stop hoping?

I'm talking about a physical issue with the screen. Not a software problem. It would be nice to know if att stores are acknowledging this screen problem. It seems like after a certain period of time something weres off in the lower right corner. BTW the area is about the size of a half dollar except its oval shaped.

Is this an area that you swipe frequently? I.e. Your finger has actually worn the screen.
This has happened to me on a few phones

No I touch this area this least out of all
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
I Just exchange my note due to the camera problems and then the new note I have is having same issue with the screen the same corner. not as big as a half dollar for me
But still notable compared to the other corners. Now I tested this on my old 4 day old note and my new one.
For now the issue isn't a problem for me since its the very corner. But if what the other person was saying about the screen degrading over time this could worry me.

seems like HTC build quality is lacking as of late
HTC build quality is always lacking. HTC light bleed, flash leaking, squeaky chassis (remedied with a piece of microfibre behind the battery
HTC seems to get so close to greatness, but misses the target. Light bleed, cover that does not fit as tightly as it should and creaks, weak wifi. Don't get me wrong I love my Amaze, it's a far better device than the S2, just wish HTC would hit one out of the park.

I find it confusing that the connectors that the hox uses are the same as ours, but that's where the blame is being laid on. I guess their case can just get warped to a greater extent than our creaky one can?

Maybe I got lucky, but I don't think so, I ordered mine first day they went on sale Oct 10/11 - I have had No creaky case/hardware issues whatsoever, even with a "battery cover replacement" this year, still as solid as when brand new, the additional cover is just as solid as the original.
I think the Amaze is easier to open than my MT4G was.
I also noticed that the offending connectors on the hox are in the exact same place as two of ours.

So I just got off the phone with the retention department and and they would not offer me a different phone even though I am now returning for the fifth time a defective amaze 4 G.
I know hasoon works there and I think I heard him mentioned something about haggling with retention department and then finally getting a new phone to replace the defective phone that was re sent over and over and over.
Any help would be great please

I've never worked for T-Mobile but have had a lot of returns. The last one was returning my 3rd mytouch4g in a year, and even though they told me their policy is a different phone if you have 3 exchanges within a month, I kept telling them I wasn't happy so they exchanged my phone and also gave me a new amaze. So I ended up with a replacement, and a new phone (this was two months after the amaze came out) even though my upgrade wasn't for another year.
Basically I was in shock how well they treated me, but this was also after talking to a rep who was rude and not helpful, and then a different rep hooked me up and apologized for the other one. Maybe I've been lucky or they like me cuz I've been with them 13 years, but they always treat me right even if it sometimes takes awhile.
My favorite is telling them I'm not happy, and being so nice and ignorant that they get on my side, haha.

I used to work at T-Mo. Not anymore. Depending on your state, look at your lemon laws for phones. Just have them exchange it and do it another 3 times. Then they will give you another phone. They'll give you a crappier phone. I just kept my Amaze. Much better than the Blaze and the Sensation.

So even through retention and multiple returns my only options for a new phone would be a sensation or the blaze...gay!
Is it the original sensation or 1 of the newer ones that have been released over the past 11 months give or take?

Ok so I've got a weird screen imperfection, it's an inch long thin lightening bolt shaped mark near the top center of the screen. It's only really visible with light blacks and greys, (and that's if your really looking for it). It's like after you shake an etch-a-sketch and you can still see a little of the line left over. Anybody else notice anything like this? I paid for this phone outright to keep my data and am unlocked and running cleanrom. I would hate to get a refurb and go through all the trouble of restoring this one and unlocking another. What would you do, live with it or get a refurb?

Welcome to AMOLED screens. Well known issue. Sometimes they are splotches too. Just Google it and you will find matches galore. If you switch it out you could get a worse one or a better one. Hard to say. I've got one tiny mark on mine towards the top middle. My GSIII had 3 huge splotches near the bottom.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
However, for the number of these phones that are out in the world, the percentages are very low that you will see it again.
Return it if it bothers you.

My S3 had splotches all over the screen that ruined viewing it at night, but my Note 2 is pretty much perfect. I say take it back and see if you have better luck this time.

Thanks for the info, I had no idea that was an issue with this display tech. I love this phone so much I was willing to try to ignore it or say hey it makes the phone uniquely mine but I do hate that my phone is a little less perfect lol.
I guess I'm going to stop by Verizon and see what they say, if they offer me a refurb I think I'll just keep what I have. If somehow I can get a new one maybe I'll ask for the grey instead of white this time? Dam, if I do that then the iPhone owners I regularly crap on will be able to talk crap about my less than perfect android LOL.

Yeah it is sad to see, but Samsung is a monster when it comes to marketing budgets they had a slim chance to compete. I hope they pull through and continue pushing samsung and other Android devices to their limits. I have high hopes for this company
I also worry that articles like this will only hurt... people who are on the fence will read that and go with Samsung...
Personally I think they are going in the right direction getting rid of dead weight and poor performers.

I don't see the company going down. I believe they will do fine in the long run, they're just having a bit of a rough spot.
The HTC One is selling well. From here on out they should be fine.
If not Samsung will probably buy them out and HTC can design the phone while Samsung focuses on the guts.

Agreed. I've always had good experiences with call and signal quality with Nokia, from the 6820 and other TDMA phones back in the late 90s and early 00s to the Symbian-based stuff from a while back. If they put some quality Android-based phones together and offered them with a decent custom interface (like Sense) and unlocked, I think they'd make a pretty strong showing.

Ha, I have its big brother the Nokia 6800. That's not a typo, I still have it right here on my desk
I couldn't help but thinking that I have this power to kill phone manufacturers.
My first cell phone back in the mid 90s was the Siemens S3+ and then briefly the S4 (I bet not a lot of people here even know that Siemens used to make cell phones).
After that, I had a couple of Ericsson phones, the GH 337 and the GF 788 (you know how that story ends, they were swallowed by Sony, and then dumped).
Right after that, I became a huge Nokia + Symbian fanboy, the 6800, 6620, N80, E51, E63, E75 (and look at what happened to Nokia and Symbian).
Then three years ago I bought a Dell Streak (the first android phone with 5" screen that nobody really knows about. the following year, Dell stopped making phones).
Finally last week I got myself an HTC One. Look out HTC!!

I mostly agree with your statement, but I believe it will take more than one flagship to get them turned around and charging towards the front. Maybe after 1 or 2 more flagship they will really be doing well. I just can't see one phone having enough time to turn an entire company around. Especially after they bombed out hard with the HTC First. That was a huge mistake for them to try and even sell that phone.

It means that there will be a vanilla htc one or one like device and because of that the devs will (hopefully) be able to make aosp/aokp roms with very few to no bugs at all. Basically it's makes the job easier for the devs and the experience better for us.

Ever since I switched to Android, all I had were Samsungs...this is my first HTC android device and Im loving it so far. So to read articles about HTC and the tough times they're having is saddening. Samsung is the Apple of androids...the galaxy line is well known which is both bad and good. I really hope the HTC One can and will save this company because we need beautiful phones in the variety of androids. I like having choices!
