Is there a pure AOSP rom out there or nearly pure made to work with the DNA?
Short answer: Nope
Long answer: You are more than welcome to look through the Development thread. There are only a dozen or so Roms so it shouldn't take you too long
Longer answer: CM10.1 is in the works but I'm not sure its at daily driver status yet.
Sorry for the sarcasm...

Yep. It's almost there. As soon as the camera is working I would consider it dd status
Sent from my ViperDNA using Tapatalk 2
I've been using CM 10.1 for my dd for a little over a week and have had no issues other than the lack of camera and an easily removed issue with GPS.
I'm no developer, but from my experience with the LG Spectrum, once CM has all of the hardware functioning, then AOSP and AOKP are not terribly difficult. In the case of the spectrum, a fully functional pacman ROM was released a few months after CM was completed.
Question of my own. What exactly needs to be done to gain official support for CM? I would love to be able to flash nightlies like on my nexus 7.

I've been using it as dd off and on. It's good enough for me to use it a few days a week for now. I really hope development picks up after cm10 is ready. I feel like not enough developers have this phone for there to be a lot of support. Idk if devs actually need the phone to make ROMs for it though.
Regardless, Chad, cr, fly, and the other devs working on cm have done a spectacular job. If we have a cm ROM, aokp, and pa I will be ecstatic.
Is there any point in having a 100% pure aosp ROM?

i don't want all the crap themeing and "mods" that come with CM, I just want pure android, if I want to add something ill do it myself.
I've contemplated back and forth for some time whether I want to build AOSP for the DNA. The camera really has been a PITA for another device I've been working on; It shouldn't be as camera works on CM10.1. However, it would suck to put all that work into it for the camera to be the hold up (although, I don't think it will be as difficult since its 8mp and the one I have somewhat working is 13mp).
The main issue is that if I build AOSP (well technically I have already built it), I would prefer to stick to google's base code as much as possible without bringing in CAF/CM code to achieve goals. Doing this, makes things a bit more difficult.
I suppose it's also a bit of whether it is worth the effort and if people really want it as well.

CM, AOSP ... it's all gravy.. they'll get it.. all of it.. in time.. They have made enormous stride with CM 10.1 it's almost unbelievable what they've accomplished.. DD for me.. because from here on out, it's all fixes and tweaks.. I wouldn't mind a pure Vanilla AOSP rom, but these things take time.. We'll get there.. Not just yet.. but I'm sure things are cooking now that many of the issues have been fixed..

Yeah, if CM7 could be easily ported to the Rezound, I'd definitely take that for now.
It bugs me how opening the dial pad blocks the speakerphone toggle on the call screen. It also does this on the iPhone. AOSP Android just covers the picture with the dialpad when needed.
At least on the Rezound it's easy to quickly hide the dialpad again. iPhone 4S toggling is kind of slow. At least on my friend's.
If I knew anything about porting roms I would try. I even have a dual xeon workstation to use for it.

Unless you don't mind simple basic android, I think you should give it a bit more too, unlike the amaze, it's much harder for the nexus to get the pretty stuff other than AOSP android, amaze on the other hand would have the prettied sense version and once source is here, it's also gonna have alllll the aosp, aokp and what's not version to go along with it. So if you feel it's worth waiting a bit more to see if HTC comes through, I support you. :highfive:

I've been watching development progress on this since I bought this phone back in March. I'm running one of the latest CM9 builds and while it runs very well, there are still a number of issues with it in terms of stability and functionality. As we know, development on CM9 has mostly come to a standstill.
I've been excited keeping up with the CM10 progress and how it seems to be coming to a usable and relatively stable state, however now I'm reading everybody is working on getting CM10.1 booting instead of continuing to fix the issues with CM10.
Now I don't want to seem unappreciative of the work our developers do on their free time, but what's the point of all of this effort if it doesn't result in a good, usable product?

What exactly makes cm9 unusable? As far as I know blue tooth (Edit) and MHL are the only things that have yet to be perfected. I've run a couple cm9 builds that really blow jb on my friend's phones away.

With everything 100% working? No you won't. Blame it on HTC, not us.
And cm9 runs fine. 10 runs great but has a purple camera and the FFC isn't likely to get fixed easily, if ever. We don't have the jb blobs for it. And the ICS blobs only support pmem.
Can always go back to pmem for everything but it runs terribly then.
The point is I like to tinker and problem solve. Brain exercise so to speak. I don't release ROMs for this reason. I have zero desire to provide support for them. I personally just like to see what I'm able to do and build skills.

Understood. I really didn't mean to be seem to be assigning blame -- I'm extremely appreciative of and wholly admire the work you and others have put into this device. I was asking as a genuine question as it was unclear to me what kind of direction is being aimed for and what the goals are.
Keep doing your thing, and I appreciate the input. :good:
And I'm far from an expert on these things (my background is in system administration and networking, not programming), but on the camera issue, doesn't the Rezound use the same camera module as the Droid Incredible? I know there are working CM10 builds with everything on the camera working but video. Perhaps this could be of use?

There is an app called cornerstone multitasking which works simular to multi Window. But it's a tablet app and is only available as a feature that would have to be baked into a rom. Idk if anyone has started using this mod or if it even works for jb. But it appears to have been designed only for 7 and 10 inch tablets. It would look crammed for four or note 2.

Cornerstone has pretty much been abandoned because of bugs. I really wish more would have been done with it so the bugs could've been worked out and I could get rid of touchwiz.
I'm sure other devs will come up with their own variants. And just a matter of time when Android will implement it. Maybe in Android 5 or 6.

Well that's a shame. I'm glad I didn't really use Multi-window enough to find a specific niche for it to matter, since I've moved on to AOSP. There was only a few things holding me back on TouchWiz, and that was one of them. But honestly, there's very few times where it actually is worth using.
It'd still be nice to be an option though. Wonder what the conflict is.

I'm actually looking forward to efforts to build straight AOSP for the DNA, since Paranoid Android on Nexus devices actually moved from a CM base to a straight AOSP base. Also, one of my favorite Galaxy Nexus ROMs, BAMF Paradigm, is based on straight AOSP (though I prefer the extensive feature set of AOKP on my Nexus 7 tablet).

Have you considered our partner site swappa.com/? You can use your XDA account to login there. I haven't done anything on it but I have heard good things so far.
Thank you,

He needs developer support to do that, unfortunately there's none here.
Anyway, I thought you're getting a Note2?

I'm actually looking forward to efforts to build straight AOSP for the DNA, since Paranoid Android on Nexus devices actually moved from a CM base to a straight AOSP base. Also, one of my favorite Galaxy Nexus ROMs, BAMF Paradigm, is based on straight AOSP (though I prefer the extensive feature set of AOKP on my Nexus 7 tablet).

I didn't know they were aosp based now. I would love pa on this phone. I always end up coming back to it on my n7. For some reason I can't use aokp based ROMs because the keyboard always crashes but aokp would be badass on our phone too.
Perhaps someone could port some of the aosp/cm based ROMs from the one over to the DNA.
