I own a BlackBerry Z10 and I can say that its keyboard beats the crap out of any keyboard available for android, including all in the Play Store.

Ok in what way? I suppose it's a personal opinion here and one can't say that the BlackBerry keyboard is better than the keyboards available for Android. I've never used a BlackBerry keyboard for a long period of time, but I do love the customization of the Android and thats why I own one

theres no keyboard that beats fleksy that includes swype swiftkey etc

So when you say beat what are you referring to, are you talking about text predictions, accuracy, how fast you can type etc. I am busting to try this Flesky but still waiting for the email with link
Also I am now using Swype, it came out of beta but I am not happy with one thing, I would like the space bar on the bottom to be bit longer, pathetically small

So how the he'll does it know what your typing e.g. if I look up and say hello how are you.

It does know from the approximate pattern of our typing, I mean we do know somewhat where the keys are located right? Even if it's inaccurate, we get the pattern - and it picks up on that. Also from the context of the word etc. like swype/swiftkey does. Obviously not saying that you can type like that with great accuracy, but you can even do that - which means typing should be a hell lot more easier with Fleksy. And works well on Note, thanks to our larger screens!

I am coming over from jailbroken iPhone and I had Octopus keyboard that was the same as blackberry. It is by far superior over the Android keyboards. Hopefully with substrate now on Android the dev will come out with octopus keyboard on Android. In the meantime check out TouchPal X. It has a similar function where you drag down to space bar instead of swiping up. It is a combination of swiftkey and blackberry 10 (octopus keyboard on iphone)

These posts are the reason the comment about the BlackBerry keyboard beating everything is so stupid.
I dont rate swiftkey at all. I think samsung keyboard, google keyboard and swype are all better. Just trying Fleksy and I am 90% sure I wont be using it either as I cant go back to Tap only keyboard. Im surprised they even make those still.
The point is .. its almost all about personal preference.
edit: messed around with fleksy for a while. Its horrible, uninstalled.

Try "Touchpal X" keyboard in Play Store an it has a thread here in xda, it is almost has bb10 features with alot of themes

The closest I've seen to the BB10 Keyboard (form and function-wise) is,... Fleksy.

Samsung uses Swiftkey's engine (forbes.com/sites/parmyolson/2013/03/14/confirmed-samsung-embedded-swiftkey-typing-technology-in-gs4/) and there's a possibility that BlackBerry does as well (androidcentral.com/about-new-blackberry-10-keyboard) (sorry, can't post links).
I agree with you that it boils down to personal preference. I use Swiftkey on my Note, and prefer the physical keyboard on my Q10 to the keyboard on the Z10.

yeah,
the only reasons I prefer samsung to swiftkey is the dedicated number row and the clipboard feature. Both are pretty nice though. Clipboard especially.

Yes the iPhone has light sensors. Of course it does. The iPod touch has it, and even MacBooks. Just because Apple took the closed approach to their software does not mean they have bad hardware. iPhone hardware is top notch.

Lol, I find Apple haters immature. If you look at the history of computing, Apple has played a pretty major role. Sure, I might not like how they do some things, but I respect them and their products, some of which have literally been revolutionary, hate Apple or not. For example, OS X (yeah I'm a big fan). I find OS X so polished that I spent 5 hours a day for a month getting it fully running on my XPS laptop (although I was a noob at the time, the same task now would take me a couple of days).

[APP]Perfect Keyboard - free to XDA members!!

Just wanted to post this as a heads up that, at least for now, "Perfect Keyboard" is free to XDA members. You purchase it on the market and then PM the developer the transaction number, and he will issue a refund.
I got mine today, and i must say im sticking with it for a while. Ive tried sooo many keyboards but i always end up going back to Swype. I just like the look and feel of this one. Its highly customizeable, visually. In terms of function, it seems to be based off the gingerbread keyboard, with a few extra goodies. give it a shot!!! Personally i think its amazing, swift key is great but took some getting used to, prior to this keyboard i was using gb keyboard, this has much the same feel, but the text prediction is much much better. not to mention you can easily theme it from with in the application with out modifying the apk.
that said the text prediction in swiftkey is far different, you will type more in Perfect Keyboard, but you wont get very many errors.
bottom line swiftkey is more efficient, but i feel that perfect keyboard is just a better fit for me, very straight forward and very high quality.
Thanks Top shelf great find !!!

i agree that smart keyboard pro is a great alternative.....perfect keyboard and smart keyboard are the only keyboards i will use that arent swype......as for right now, im going with perfect keyboard because its fresh off the "Shelf" i feel what Perfect DOES need is the ability to adjust key size/height...like Smart does
This app has been amazing visually and I've been really happy with it but all day today it has be misreading my typing, randomly selecting keys all the way across the screen from where I press, lagging, not reading keys and etc. I tried restarting the phone but still have the problem. It was working fine until today, not sure whats up but hope it is updated.

[Request][Q]Keyboard to rival iOS?

Hi guys,
I've been loyal to android for about a year now, but I only have one complaint: The keyboard
Typing on iOS is easy and great, even on a small screen. Why don't we have a keyboard with that fluid usability? I've tried Swype (prefer typing), Swiftkey X, the TW4 Keyboard, stock GB keyboard, and Thumb keyboard and they all seem to disappoint a little in the shadow of iOS's keyboard.
So my question is: Is anyone working on or thinking about working on a keyboard with iOS-like functionality? I'd honestly pay $5 to download a keyboard that works like the iPhone's.
If you have any keyboard suggestions, post them below.
While I am unable to post the keyboard - as I don't have it myself - apparently the keyboard on the Galaxy S2 in Korea is the best. No issues with the patents held here in the US by Apple, so the accuracy is the same as it is with iOS.
If anyone can find it, pull it, set up an apk that will work with other Android phones, it would be appreciated!

Not sure. I have to get the keyboard to see if it can be used on any other phone with stock ROM first. There may be a device check on the keyboard, though I do not know at the moment.
Need a daring person to try this app out. I found it from the Philippine Samsung Galaxy S2 Rom on this site. I cannot install it because I have the Samsung Keyboard already and it won't overwrite my current one - I need to root when it is good to go for the Epic Touch.

I haven't used it in a while, but this is working great.I like the handwriting option, not practical but cool.
I didn't use the last version because I thought it was too small (especially compared to stock keyboard, swift key, smart keyboard, etc. This new version is finally taller (still not as tall as I'd like on our 4.3" screen) so I'm gonna try it for awhile
Swiping is very accurate, but actual typing on it (which you have to do sometimes) is pretty bad compared to other keyboards. If they could improve typing accuracy, add some customization for key height, long key press duration, and swipe to delete last word, it would be perfect. But still needs some work in my opinion...

Chameleon Launcher Beta mini Review

So I posted this little mini review over on Google Plus and thought I would share it here.
Remember I played with this at 1am in the morning so it's probably not that in depth! LOL :silly:
Got my +Chameleon Beta email and installed it around 1am LOL....couldn't sleep....I have restless leg syndrome, sucks. Ended up until 2:30am playing around with it.
It's not as impressive as I thought it was going to be, to be fair it is in beta. But 5 widgets doesn't seem to be enough to properly test this thing.
A few things I would suggest to +Chameleon .
1. Make the grid resizable to smaller areas so you can fit apps on your home screen if you want.
2. Make the grid accesible to other widgets not just +Chameleon widgets.
3. Get rid of the dock or make an option to get rid of it.
4. Allow users to set their own wallpapers not just +Chameleon wallpapers.
5. Check your Instagram widget because mine worked for a few minutes and then stopped, even after taking it off screen and putting it back.
6. Allow for scrolling left and right not just right, the homescreen on a regular Android is center and you have other screens to the left and right. With +Chameleon you have the homescreen justified left and can only scroll right.
7. Allow for wallpaper to show in app drawer.
8. More animations needed when scrolling.
Overall this has potential as long as they can make widgets for several and I mean several applications. Such as Google Plus, Flipboard, Pulse, Currents, facebook etc etc.
Right now I still prefer Nova Launcher by +Kevin Barry because it offers so much more customization and options.
+Chameleon please don't take this is a bad review because it isn't. I realize this is still beta and I hope my input could help you out. Thanks

Interesting to read/see as I've been curious about this launcher. I've probably tried every launcher and yet this one slipped by until I heard about it a month ago or so.
Used to be adwex only, but since development on that stopped Nova prime by teslacoil has been my go-to.
Interested to see how chameleon turns out, hopefully it doesn't end up another niche like spb, tsf, ss, or hi. Always nice to have options. Wouldn't mind giving them my money to try it out. Lol.

I'm the same way, I've tried everything including the expensive ones, TSF and SPB....like you ADWEx was always my go to....but Ander Webbs still supports ADWEx as far as I know. And Nova Launcher is built on top of ADWEx......but yeah Nova is my go to now....Kevin Barry has good apps like Widget Locker...and now Nova....top notch
I too love Nova but wish they would let me do more than seven spaces in the home screen..you(Mortem) have seen my screens and I like to be able to push things around the wallpaper design to not disrupt the design....in which case I have fallen in love with Apex because twelve g(

I am getting highly irritated because I've yet to see any updates to Chameleon Launcher. They need to step it up.

I was under the impression non tablets were not supported (per website). I suppose as long as the resolution is good, it'll work.
How about font size and readability on the note? Screen shots maybe? Thanks.

It's for tablets only. I'm using it on my Iconia. Though I did hear someone side loaded it on the note and it worked. But they did change the dpi.
