So I have a memory card coming today and was wondering I have the newest update from T-Mobile ending in .710RD and would the unlimited.io S-Off method work for that one since it is a new boot-loader?
Also What do i loose by being up to date? And last, Is their a way for the amaze to return to stock with s-on and a locked boot-loader?

So I have an evo 4g with unrevoked s-off, an evo 3d with revolutionary s-soff, and an evo view 4g with revolutionary s-off.
Now my understanding with unrevoked is that the s-off is permanent and not tied to the hboot. Meaning it does not matter if the hboot is updated after the device is already s-off. I have used various RUU exe's to reset my evo4g without losing soff, simply flashing recovery via hboot will allow me to reroot or flash a different rom.
But from what I am gathering about revolutionary, is that the s-off is tied to the hboot, so that if you upgrade hboot then you lose the s-off?
Is this correct?
What is preventing us from getting an unrevoked type of s-off?

Well yes and no. As far as we know the Revolutionary's S-Off is "permeant". However the official View's HC built has a different HBoot which is required to use with HC, and it needs to be updated in order to use HC. Thus why there are many reports of S-Off GB device has soft-brick after accepting the official HC update (but was able to revert back to GB with RUU).
Until the devs get their hands on the new HBoot we'll just either have to wait or go back to S-ON and stick with the HC and new HBoot.
Why? Lack of popularity on the View's end. Flyer is a world-wide device while View is State-bond only. But given time, it'll be solved.
read up on the difference between ENG S-OFF and RADIO S-OFF if you what to know the difference.
The issue here is the fact the HC hboot is modified for the flyer and view in a way we don't normally have to deal with. If there was an official HTC unlock for the view, I would say by all means go ahead and upgrade and we'll fix the S-OFF later, but there is not so you have to either wait or go back completely stock and stay that way for the foreseeable future.

I get my View in the next few days so i should leave it stock
or
Root it via your instructions in the other thread and not accept the HC update. Just wait until you have a method to go to HC.
Not to sound like a complete noob, but I have a few concerns that I cannot find the answer to.
Regarding the leak. I wanted to load is as a IMG file through stock hboot. However, will I be able to unlock, root and s-off the device on the ICS leak, or does this all need to be done before I load the leak. Reason I'm asking is because I dont want to S-off if I dont have to, however I want to be able to go back to stock if I need to. I know I need to be s-off to get back to GB from ICS.
Does unlock root and s-off need to be done before I load the leak?
You cannot downgrade without S off. It's a one way street if you upgrade and stay S on. You'll be able to unlock still though if you upgrade now.
ok, just to be clear..
I do not need to s-off before I upgrade to the leak? S-off, root, and unlocking can be done while running the leak, correct?
I am only going to s-off, unlock and root if I happen to run into issues on the leak and need to downgrade.
you should s-off before loading the leak, while the s-off procedure does work on the leak... you'll cover your ass by s-offing now, in case something happens during the leak install.
once s-off on GB, upgrading to the 3.14 leak is a snap. you can also leave the phone **locked** after doing the s-off procedure too, once you are s-off you can flash whatever and still be locked.
the 3.14 leak can be rooted. Just re-install amonRA after flashing the leak, and install su/superuser there, just like with GB.
come to irc in my sig if you need real-time help.
You are correct in your assumptions but like it was mentioned...I would highly recommend that you S-OFF before flashing the firmware.
Hello everyone
Sorry for a newb question, but, how can I unroot so that I can take all the OTA updates and get the official ICS update from Sprint/HTC. I dont care about losing root as I will be replacing the phone come October. I just want it back to stock and running on stable factory ICS.
I currently am Revolutionary HBOOT-1.40.110 / S-OFF / RADIO 1.06.00.1216.
Thanks!
Well you can first do a search, as this has been answered probably at least a hundred times on here. After you do that, you would realize you need to run a stock RUU to relock the bootloader.

you just have to find the zip file but follow those steps did it a while back
Is there an unroot method for hboot 1.5 with s-off? I used Juopunutbear to get s-off.
I relocked the bootloader then ran the stock RUU and that did the trick
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Thanks guys. I ran the RUU, then did all the OTA updates. Im now on official stock ICS, bootloader 1.58, relocked, and still S-OFF
is it possible to unroot but keep s-off? i want to sell my phone but i would prefer it to be kinda pseudo-unrooted so i can easily revert back to s-off. I should probably just completely unroot though.
Is possible to reunlock the 1.58 hboot after we take the OTA using HTC dev method?
Hello
I previously had rooted my phone to gain access to some files, but now I'm looking to sell the handset. I want to sell it with the latest OTA update and unlocked.
When I was using this phone on a day to day basis, I had it unlocked and tried to have updates OTA but I found it didn't work. Fast forward today, I want to S-off my handset to unlock it to any network carriers but every method involves rooting. Is there a way around this and keep everything else the same? Can I S-off this as my HBoot says
******RELOCKED******
HBOOT 1.53.0007
Thanks
S-off is root I would think, but if you are talking about the HTC Dev unlock, then you wouldn't need to be s-off.
However I do recommend s-off if you are unlocked, it just makes everything run smoother.
I would say to root the phone to s-off and unlock it.Then downgrade your Hboot to 1.4 and flash one of the new 4.1.2 Jellybean roms, because in my opinion I don't think there will be anymore OTA's for the EVO 3D, other than radios probably. I just can't see Sprint pushing anything out past Jellybean for how old the phone is now, and how fast newer phones with a lot better hardware come out and just take over. but that's just my opinion

Hi xda,
I recently found out that my HTC One had a fried camera sensor, so I was able to get it replaced. Fortunately, it had Hboot version 1.44, so I was able to get S-Off using revone. After getting S-off, I changed my cid to GOOGL001 and flashed a GPE RUU. My question is, if I have S-off and I root my phone, will I still be able to receive OTA from Google and HTC? I'm just wondering because it was S-off. If not, are there any wifi-tethering apps without root necessary? Thanks.
