Hi guys, I've got a mini pro and I noticed that in all roms there isn't "Auto Brightness" option in setting or it is disabled.
My question is, why the developers don't enable it?
There is the sensor and it works a bit with Ultra Brightness MOD.

I've noticed that this option is missing in stock roms. In CM10(extended) and Cm10.1 its working nicely without any problem. And some roms like NICS do have this feature of auto brightness working.

I've never tried cm10 ex and 10.1 bcz of some bugs but i'm sure that in normal cm10 there isn't the checkbox.
NICS has the option in settings but if I thick it the screen remains at the same level, as well as in other stock-based roms.

Whenever I use the auto brightness feature, I have to check the option 2 times before it started working. Its like you click on brightness once and set your preffered setting once and then again click brightness and set your settings.

It works fine for me, increasing brightness in high lighting and decreasing brightness in low lighting.
You are using the stock or a custom kernel? On Kappa1.6 kernel it works well on my mango.

Hey guys
Is there a way to improve the brightness? Torch etc. works perfect, but i like the HTC flaslights. I.e. the LED hardware from HTC wildfire is identic with X10, but it is much brighter than on x10.
Any ideas?

are you looking for flashlight i.e. camera flashlight or display brightness control
Note: although i don't know both either however placed question to get clarification so that someone more knowledgable can answer you.
I mean the camera flashlight.I would try to make it brighter like on the HTC phones.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
nt sure about the config file however you can check there is an application named torch which allows you to control the flash light.
also if you are on 2.2 ROM camera flash won't work atleast as far as i know.
No, i mean config script in framework. In cm6 by wolf, the flashlight works (vignette and torch). I would like to increase the brightness in system, like the htc phones. There is the led much brighter than x10 (i.e. Wildfire). I know that there is script for brightness, but i cant find it. Early releases of froyo roms have all low bright leds. Thats be fixed in later released roms. That is what i am searching for...

I dont mean the app, i wrote above what i mean. I mean the general brightness of x10 led flash. Not an app. Somewhere in the framework is the config file(i think so). The brightness is not enough, i want more

I've just tested CM7, but the brightness of Torch is the same as in CM6 by Wolf...
Please, can some Dev tell to me, where i can find the config script for camera Torch Led?

Yes, i tried the higher brightness option in the Torch app (i've the same one in CM6).
But it isn't stil bright enough for me. Do you know the Torch from HTC devices?
They are physicaly identical, so i think there is a way to optimize the brightness...

this was a question, therefore goes in Q&A section
if you had created an app that makes the led brighter then here would be the place to put it

of course i'm rooted too. i've tried all apps i know n even googled it in a while. unfortunately, nothing can solve this yet. i meant, do u know which file is associated to it so i can edit it by root explorer? it worked fine on CM 7.2.0 RC1. when i compared the file hw_config.sh i noticed no different values between them too. the only difference is it works on CM while it doesn't on X-ROM ICS (ported from official ICS by Sony). i hope i don't blabber.

Sony has no option to toggle auto brightness. That is why you are facing the consequences. Well, I know an app for that.
Use this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hatcyl.android.Disable_Auto_Brightness&hl=en
That should work.
Hope this helps

For those of you who use this app, I have question.
I noticed that my screen is very bright even at 25%. How is the battery life compared to the normal brightness?

The battery life is just normal, or sometimes better as it disables auto brightness and gives a fixed amount of brightness.

Maybe there are workarounds using the front camera, but this could affect battery, while your intention might have been the opposite.
