Ok, assuming you found the right firmware, visit this thread. ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899
Download the app from post one.
Download I9100 FlashKernel v3.0 from post 9.
Unzip and install the FlashKernel
Install the app
Bring your firmware into the app (it might be necessary to unzip it if you dl'd it as a zip)
Enable all the wipes
Allow the MD5 check
And flash.....
You will end up with unrooted stock JB.
It's how I did it....without issue...
Edit....you are running an international I9100 galaxy S2 right?

i am running international I9100 galaxy S2 ... but can i flash through regular odin because this sounds scary and some what complicated the pc odin is waaaaaaaay simpilar but im not sure what to do with it ............ i respect ur responses soooooooo much i know im a pain in the *$$
thx for ur help i just dont want to brick it

Seriously....mate.....
The chances of bricking with pc odin are higher than with this option.....this app and method was created by a highly respected dev called Chainfire....the guy is genius for the S2.....
With mobile odin, you don't even have to worry about putting the firmware files in the wrong places....it's done automatically. ....
All you have to do is flash a couple of app components, import the firmware, tick a couple of boxes and flash.....don't get any easier than that......

If you are already rooted using CF-ROOT kernel, then trying to use a non-kernel method again, is both hilarious and time wasting.
If flashing Siyah kernel is your priority, in order to overclock, then let's go straight to the point

I assume from the information given above:
1. You are presently on ICS 4.0.3 xxlpj firmware.
2. You rooted your phone via non-kernel method and your phone was rooted.
3. You did not ROOT your phone by flashing CF-ROOT kernel, contrary to what you claimed in your first and second posts
3. Anytime you flash Siyah kernel image via mobile Odin, your phone is stucked on boot.
Please correct me if I'm wrong or missed anything

You just did a clean installation and you are rooted via non-kernel method. Good.
Do you have a temporary CWM recovery?
If you don't know if you have, then Please post the link to the tutorial you used

You can flash any GT I9100 firmware it will work fine and anytime you wish to claim warrant, you simply flash back Indian firmware.
Download it here:
1. forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487
Or
2. www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s2-android-4-0-3-ics-xwlpg-firmware-95534/
For option two, the alternate download link is lot faster than hotfile

Pull out your battery and CONFIRM what is says for the model number of your phone. This will confirm or deny that you have the i777 Samsung Galaxy S2.
IF it has a model number of i727 which is also, kind of, sort of, a ATT samsung galaxy s2 but is considered the " Skyrocket". So PLEASE before going any further check it out before you get flamed here if you get help and you don't have the i777.

I was on stock ICS. I wanted to root.
Then i flashed the siyah kernel, after that the phone booted with just samsung logo
I tried flashing a stock rom but it fails, it just halts. However installing a kernel through odin is successful.
Even kies fails to install the stock rom, it downloads the firmware but nothing installs.

Trying to gain root via installing another custom kernel is NOT the way to go, in fact, it's not the right way and AFAIK, it's not gonna work.
So, it was stock ICS and you want to .......... what? just root? or intend to install a custom firmware?
Either case,
FIRSTLY, rooting. Read the stickies, there are links to instructions how to root (per ROM version)
SECONDLY, in order to install custom firmware easily, strongly recommend installing CwMR first. HOW?
a. make sure it's rooted.
b. install Mobile Odin
c. flash custom kernel which includes CwMR. Be careful of flashing GB kernel to GB firmware and so on.
So go back, a question for you.
How did you manage to install Siyah kernel first place?

the bottom line is now I cant flash any rom through odin or kies. It just hangs at the start. I am able to install stand alone stock kernels through odin without any problems. I guess I am clear aout what I am talking. Help appreciated. Thanks

Because, 4.0.4 has brick bug on its stock kernel, you only have two options.
1. Flash a prerooted ICS 4.0.4 firmware via CWM recovery, then flash a custom kernel via temporary CWM recovery.
2. Flash ICS 4.0.4 firmware via Odin. You will lose ROOT and CWM recovery, then flash a custom kernel via Odin to have ROOT and CWM recovery back.
Which option are you going for?

Don't get much easier than that.....
Edit.....Here's the link to the l9100G firmwares at samsung-updates.com
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9100G
Edit 2.....I know that the paid version of MobileOdin will extract the firmware from the download zip....I'm not sure if the lite version will.....probably best to extract it first....before importing it to M.O.

Even easier method.....
BACKUP current setup
1) download the firmware from Sam mobile or samsung updates.com
2) visit this thread.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19375402
read all the instructions and download the MobileOdin app from the first post
3) in that same thread, go to post number 5 and download.....
MobileOdin_FlashKernel_I9100G-v1.0zip
4) install MobileOdin
5) extract and install the FlashKernel
6) open MobileOdin and import your downloaded firmware
7) begin the flash.......

I assume you can still get into download mode, but can you get into recovery mode (volume up..home..power)?
Sent from my Rooted, De bloated Stock JB powered S2 via PhilZ kernel and Tapatalk 2....
Flash a I9100G custom kernel via odin (.tar file) so you can get to CWM.
After that make sure you are flashing an I9100G ROM not a I9100 ROM.
@Keith he wants to flash 4.2.2, which is a custom ROM, MO does stock only.
Sent from the little guy
Oh right....I read the OP and saw that he wanted to 'update to the latest version'. I took the 4.2.2 in his thread title to be a typo.....
Edit....and the second link I provided would have taken him to a 'stock firmwares' download page....

Now we are at ground 0
I did as mentioned all what i get is recovery mode
when i try to install the firmware stuff seem to go well until the phone turns off and i have to turn it on again
Please help

So odin passes...that's good.
You only need to flash a proper ROM.

Once you flash the firmware, you get a pass?
reboot into recovery/cwm and wipe dalvic, cache and factory reset...
Then reboot normally and you *should* be good to go....

Keith already posted a link where you can get I9100G ROMs.
Once you download the ROM abd extract the zip/rar file you might get a bunch of files, you have to flash:
PDA: Code
PHONE: Modem
CSC: CSC
Sent from the little guy
I already downloaded one of these
and got it on SD
when i try to install no error just the phone turns off after some loadings

What exactly do you want to do? What is your end goal for your phone?
Do you want to be unrooted with the latest firmware?
Or do you want to be rooted and running a custom rom?
Sent from my Rooted, De bloated Stock JB powered S2 via PhilZ kernel and Tapatalk 2....
t the moment i need any working phone
I prefer having the latest rooted phone
Please advise
is the firmware i downloaded by the link of keithross39 for unrooted phones ?

Galaxy s 2 boost where can i find a stock rooted rom??

i rooted my friends galaxy s2 boost.. and wanted to kno if there was a stock rooted rom i can flash for him.. i flashed goodness rom.. and i made a back up.. see what happend is i rooted his phone all he wanted was stock root.. but when i backed up the stocked rooted rom.. then i rebooted system it was stuck in a bootloop.. so the i wiped everything and tried to restore samething so then i didnt kno what else to do so i flashed goodness rom.. and he wants just stock root.. so im stuck.. the backup i made aint workin? i cant seem to find just a stock rooted rom? thanks
So what model is the phone? I9100, i9100g, etc. You can either download a stock firmware from samfirmware, flash it then root, which will get you back to rooted stock, or, hunt around on xda for your model variant.

Yep, I've got i9100. I just didn't know what a 'boost mobile' was, ie if it's i9100 or something else. Usually if I need to flash stock, I'll just flash using mobile Odin and everroot. But many thanks for the info

I no what you have mate :thumbup:Im thinking s2 boost is the 4g model. Maybe wrong here but I would flash i9100 rom on that. Dont have one so not sure.
This is it here. Not an i9100. Has 8mp camera so I defo wouldnt flash i9100 rom on that.
Ahhh. Cool, gotcha. Also not sure whether it's flashable with an i9100 rom, it still depends on what model it is. If it's an i9100m, maybe.... If it's this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23042515 then probably not, and if it's as the screenshot attached, then definitely not. So still no real idea, they're all some sort of 4g galaxy s2... Able to shed any light on that?

What are you guys talking about?
All these devices use different CPU and GPU.
Don't encourage people to flash these ROMs on any I9100 or vice versa.
I9100 works on the P/M/T not G tho.
The closest US variant to the I9100 is the I777 and those ROMs aren't even compatible.
