hey everyone. i want to use my nandroid back that i've made before I flashed cm10.1 to use my providers warrenty. If I restore from the nandroid backup it should work? no chances to get hard brick?

A nandroid backup is not an sbf file. Hard bricks come from flashing the wrong sbf file.

if you flash the sbf that matches the stock version you had prior to unlocking, you'll be fine. flash anything older than that, and you risk bricking.

thanks again I have found my version and i am downloading it right now. but how to flash it? I need to enter rsd mode in my phone and through rsd lte? I've downloaded an gz file type. and inside it has ths sbf file, and RSD lite can use both types. I know that it sounds like stupid question but I only want to verify, I need to use the sbf file and not the gz right?

No problem. Search for RSD online, i'm running 5.7, but i think i was told by another user the other day that its up to 6.1 or something. reboot phone and hold vol up. it will display something about standing by for rsd support. connect phone to computer, let any necessary drivers install from device. then load sbf file into rsd, and after the drivers have installed, hit the detect for device button, and then flash the sbf to the device

no problem. one more thing. you may get an error message when you do it. if you flashed a different radio to your device, you need to follow the following steps first
Solved !
1. Copy Radio image (baseband) to the folder where located fastboot. 2. Power on phone and select fastboot 3. execute: fastboot flash radio bp.img, Where bp.img baseband image files 4. execute: fastboot reboot 5. Phone automatically boot on the android recovery mode 6. Wipe userdata/cache 7. Reload in RSD mode 8. on the RSD lite browse appropriate .sbf file and puch Start

These are some need to know questions before I or anyone else can assist you in your problem.
1) What version are you on!??? 1.2.6, 1.5.7, 1.8.3, 2.3.4??
2) Have you ever unlocked your bootloader?? <---- THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW!!!
IF YOU HAVE UNLOCKED YOUR BOOTLOADER THEN FLASHING A .SBF WILL RESULT IN A HARDBRICK.
IF YOU HAVE NEVER UNLOCKED YOUR BOOTLOADER THEN THE ONLY WAY TO GET A FRESH INSTALL IS USING A .SBF

OK well this is gonna be easy,
Flash the 1.2.6 ATT US found HERE and upgrade via WiFi updater to 1.5.7 then 1.8.3 then to 2.3.4.
To use RSDlite (or for further details look HERE);
Charge to FULL battery <---- IMPORTANT
Start up the RSDlite program
Turn off phone, Remove SD-card, Remove SIM card and turn back on holding the power button and volume up key until it says "Starting RSD protocol support"
Plug your phone into the usb port and RSDlite should say "Status: Connected…"
Load the 1.2.6 SBF in the RSD and click start.
May take from 5-10 minutes Do NOT pull battery during this time or unplug until it says 100% complete
If you have any other questions please ask here or shoot me a message. Happy Flashing!!
Thx all of you guys, i will try it tonight(in hong kong right [email protected]@so hot!) Hope will be success to 4.5.91!!

That I cannot be a 100% on as I used to install a fresh SBF before an upgrade. But now that we have custom ROM's I do not worry about those things anymore
I would assume yes, just to be on the safe side, and if you do change the boot animation just backup the original so if you do have problems upgrading OTA then you can simply put it back.
Don't forget to hit the Thanks button!
Hey guys,
I need some help with this CWM. It is my first time using this phone.
Ok, I will go through all the things I have down so far.
I got the phone yesterday from AT&T (America) and immediately updated OTA to official firmware 4.5.91.
I then downloaded pudding for AT&T/android 2.3.4, downloaded the latest windows 7 drivers, and the latest RSD lite 5.3.1.
I used RSD to flash pudding onto the phone, but did not enable USB debugging, or the other option to allow non-android/certified installations (located at setting, applications...I think)
That resulted in a no OS found, error 1x000 on the phone, and an error in RSD. RSD said something around the likes of: error - could not switch...something the phone then gave me a list of options and went into fastboot protocol mode.
I thought to myself: "darn, I bricked my phone", but I saw that it went into fastboot mode. I did the fastboot cmd's from my computer to unlock the phone, which seemed successful (unlock on the top left corner), but after I did fastboot reboot, the phone was stuck in the dual core screen, with unlock on top left still.
I had to pull out the battery, but the phone then booted up normally.
Thinking that everything is now fine, and still forgetting to enable those setting in the phone, I booted the phone in fastboot protocol mode and installed ROMracers CWM.
However, I didn't use the second command to delete CWM before installing romracers. It installed fine though, from what I saw.
So I then try to go into the CWM by holding the power button and volume down, then scrolling down to recovery and hitting volume up.
Then the android guy and the triangle warning sign shows up. Great.
What did I do wrong? Everything seems to have worked so far. I am using the latest versions of everything.
I am following a tutorial video on youtube (two weeks old), and I am at work right now so I have not gotten to the part where he gets the same error on his demonstration phone; however, i saw that the guy downloaded a file explorer that can do a specific thing that other programs cannot, but it costs money. I didn't see any more.
What should I do?
Download and install a root file manager, and delete recovery-sh from /system/etc, then try again
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
If you tap the bottom right corner of the screen you will get stock android recovery options.
If you flash the cwm of your choice and immediately boot into recovery after you flash it you should be able to get into ur custom recovery until you fully try to reboot again. I think..... its been a while since I was in that boat.
You soft bricked it, that happens if you unlock the bl after 2.3.4 is on the phone. Its common
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Thanks guys.
What program should I use to delete that file? Preferably a free one...why doesn't everyone else have to get an app to successfully install CWM?????
Also can I just install this even though my phone is already unlocked with pudding on it?

I went through the same thing you did up until the ROM choice. Even the pulling of the battery. So I would say that is normal and you should not think the problem is there.
My Atrix came with the 2.3.4 update already installed and I did the pudding bit with RDS (which didn't give me root, I had to use the adb method). I flashed the Ninja Speed ROM (very happy with it) and I didn't have any problems.
Did you check with known issues of your ROM? Some require specific recovery apps.

Most of the guides say that you should install CWM before installing ROMs.
They also say that the Rom's themselves root the device.

This should help you get back to romracer's recovery.
1) Download romracer's recovery for your AT&T phone from his recovery thread in the development section. Make sure you download the fastboot version, not the .zip version.
2) Connect your phone to your computer, and put it into fastboot
3) Open up a command prompt on your windows computer, and issue the following commmand:
fastboot erase recovery
moto-fastboot flash recovery recovery.img***
***you should replace recovery.img with whatever the recovery file you downloaded is called
4) Then boot into recovery and it should be the recovery that you chose in the first step. Hope this helps. If it does, make sure to thank joeavery2, as it is part of his complete wipe guide!
Im really scared. I have an atrix rooted and unlocked. I had neutrino 2.7gt on it and due to being buggy I chose to flash ee, but did so as an update. It worked but then I had to format my sd card and re flash the addons and when i did i got stuck in a bootloop. so i tried to get into android recovery mode and now I just have a blank screen please help me.
Try flash a SBF Rom via RSD Lite. Take care, you must be careful. This is not a hard brick, so there is a solution. Tell me when you do it
How do i do that
This exact same thing happened to me with the blank recovery screen and boot loop, what I did to fix it was wiping my recovery via fast boot then flashed neutrino2.7 again using rom racer. It turned out that notorious posted a bad link to the rom that resulted in this.

Its recommended not to sbf flash, but seeing as you offered no alternative method, perhaps you should delete your post. I also have used sbf flash to recover from a soft brick and confirm it works. You will need the last firmware you use for stock.

Both of you:
Just because you flashed a SBF after unlock and didn't hard brick does not mean it's OK to do it. There are warnings all over the forums about flashing a SBF after unlock. You should NOT flash a SBF, plain and simple.
I won't delete my post. My post stands, The post prior to it recommends flashing a SBF. I need offer no alternative to tell the OP that this is bad advice!

Warnings against unlocking bootloaders.. did you stop at those warnings? Warnings about flashing custom ROMs, did you heed to those warnings as well? The only reason they SUGGESTED not to use rsd is because it runs the most risk! Your phone loses connection from your computer, you get hard bricked. Phone loses power during flash, hard bricked. Cwm is the quickest and safest (as is fastbooting) but doesn't mean you can't use rsd. Stop being a troll.

I never said you can't use a SBF! They didn't suggest it is bad advice, I did! You basically agreed with me, so what's your point?

I said: "Try flash a SBF Rom via RSD Lite. Take care, you must be careful. This is not a hard brick, so there is a solution"
You said: "Do not flash SBF after unlock"
It's a bad advice, i know it. Do you see another way to solve it? Or do you prefer a phone soft bricked than try to solve it? If there is a better way to do.. i don't know it, so tell me. Sorry but we're trying to help him/her, he/she doesn't know what to do. Please stop say you're right or wrong, that i'm right or wrong... it doesn't matter . Please post a solution, we will thank you

Can you boot into AP fastboot mode?
If you can, just flash GB ROM back via RSD light. And then root it, restore your cid back.
Note: you need to use BP tools to boot your device before you finished next step.
And flash GB rom via RSD light again.

I was actually doing that exactly..but i couldnt boot it using BP tools...:'(

Ok so I accidentally deleted the system font I was using and thought I had replaced it with another font in Windows explorer using the app TypeFresh. I restarted my phone to apply the changes. But while restarting it won't go past the boot animation. What happened? How can I fix this?
I am using Jellybean 4.1.2.
*SOLUTION* Purchase a factory cable or adapter. Charge my phone. Restore Software using the Droid Utility.
PROBLEM: Battery Low error prevents me from further flashing the device to restore it's software. Since it turned off mid flash my phone is practically a skeleton with barely any software installed which prevents me from using normal methods to charge my phone.

Do you have a custom recovery installed? BMM or Safestrap? I'm gonna guess that you don't so you're gonna have to flash fastboot file through rsdlite.

Ok you need to download rsdlite and latest motorola drivers for your pc or mac and also a fastboot file depending on your region, just google 'em...
Ok here you can get the fastboot file.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40201916
Install drivers on pc or mac.
install rsdlite and open it up.
Boot up your phone in ap fastboot and connect it to your pc or mac with usb cable.
When rsdlite recognizes your phone, click on the 3 dots and search for the fastbootfile you downloaded (make sure is the same region as your phone i.e. if you live in europe get a europe file)
Then hit start and let rsdlite do its thing,I believe you might lose your data but since you cannot back up there is nothing you can do,sorry.
Good luck.

I think not,if you are going to flash a service file I think your data will be fine but if you are going to flash a full file you will loose all your data on internal memory and will loose your root if you are rooted.

I tried the "1" option and the "2" option. Neither of them worked. I have the drivers installed and was in AP fastboot mode. Do you know what might be wrong?
Did you install the drivers that were in the folder?

No, none yet. I am trying to restore the software on the phone any way possible but a low battery is preventing me from doing this. I can't seem to charge the phone either since I can't get out of AP Fastboot mode. So for right now I am stuck and don't know what to do.
Take a look here..
