Im currently running stock rooted gb, and i want to make the switch to ics. I have gone to ics before but went back to gb for stability. Now it seems a lot of the bugs have been fixed, and I want to try the new Only One Rom. However I am on tmobile and want to make sure the modems work. I know the gb modems wont work, but I have some ics modems such as blaze ics modem from the first ics releases. Will those work on these new leaks and roms?
Also once i make a nandroid backup and flash only one ics rom. Will i be able to revert back to gb if needed through my nandroid backup (like you could do with alpha 2 ics rom)?
i switch back and forth all the time, just need to flash the appropriate radio as well each time.
EG: you are on ICS with an ics radio, restore/flash back to GB and flash a GB based radio like Blaze.
I havent been able to get an ICS ROM to work with an ICS Radio. I get a big circle with a strike in it like a not allowed sign. As soon as i go back to GB and flash a GB Radio it picks up 4G any help?

On ics i am using the leet ics gs2 modem. and I get 4g signal but then after a while ill get a notification in the bar saying i lost data because i left my house and it wants me to turn on roaming?! and when i did just to try it i got signal again, but i wasnt sure if i would get charged so i turned it off. Didnt have any of this in gb
At least you get signal i have yet to get that far. Whats the link for the ICS ROM your currently on? Ive tried only one ROM and a no go for me. You should check if it works if it doesnt just restore and flash the radio again because when u flash the new ROM it will flash the UCLE2 radio and you will only get EDGE.

Maybe someone could explain this to me: What exactly is a Radio? I'm assuming a modem is what lets you make phone calls and receive data, but the radio is the GPS/Wifi drivers/firmware?
I had installed Blaze Modem and others trying to fix both a issue with S Voice and GPS. My data got better, and I got more bars but no solution for S Voice or GPS.
(S Voice only works over WiFi, won't work on 4G)
If I understand correctly, maybe I should be looking for compatible radios to flash as well? Any recommendations?
Theyre the same thing try a different radio/modem. Aee if that fixes the gps.
Im on the sgsII leaked one and works fine for.gps..

UVLC8 Baseband is always the go-to radio.
Hey guys
Everytime I flash CM 10, MIUI based roms or any kind of rom thats based on 4.1.1 (except the Samsung JB Leaks) I can't get Wifi signals. It just says "connecting" or something like that. Than it says not connected! WPA2 Key is 100% right. Is there any fix without flashing firmwares with odin?

Install an ICS ROM first, connect to WiFi, and then flash CM10/MIUI

Is correct.
Flash stock ics via odin, root then flash your chosen rom as normal and youll have wifi.

You can't fix it without reverting what the leak JB ROMs have done.
Use this method. Proven to work.
Revert to ICS using wanamlite 2.3 ICS
I did it for mine and both wifi and NFC worked.
Steps:
1. Download wanamlite rom from http://netkups.com/?d=50f3150065651
(Download the torrent and then put it on your SGS3 SD card)
2. Make a nandroid backup of your current nightly from cwm
3. Wipe and factory reset
4. Install the wanamlite ROM from your SD card and boot up as usual.
5. After boot up and set up go to WiFi turn it on and try to connect to any network. Also turn our NFC on and off to make sure it works.
Go to settings and make sure your baseband version ends with "XXLH1"
IF ALL CHECKS!,
6. Boot into recovery and wipe/factory reset, install CM10 again or restore the nandroid back up you made.
*if you don't wipe/factory reset you might get bootloops"
7. After boot up and set up of your cm10, go to WiFi and connect. It will work. Also play around with NFC.
Your baseband version will remain "XXLH1"
Done!
Don't install JB leaks if you want to keep this alive for future cm10 nightlies.

I have an ATT i717 on Fido in Vancouver which successfully runs Flappjaxxx ICS with ucle2 baseband. Get 40mb speeds on LTE and would like to run Jelly Bean so I have tried One and Only, Jelly Beer, Liquid Smooth, Quinceyy nighltys with the latest modems and UCLE2 and All of them will not give me LTE just 3g-4g and the speed drops down to 5-6mb. Have tried to flash the UCLE2 and UCLF6 with TWRP 2.3 and just get a failed zip. Anybody have any ideas.

Probably redundant, but did you try flashing with CWM? Anytime I try to flash something and it fails during install, I'll just flash the other recovery (going between CWM and TWRP) and it will almost always work.
As far as the modems themselves, have you tried any of the APN tweaks from this thread?

That's because it's adding the new att modem/radio so that might be your issue, try to flash you're old baseband and see if it improves the signal.

Just flash I717UCMD3-Modem
I use Bell i717, just flashed I717UCMD3-Modem, and now it looks like the signal problem is perfectly solved. Need to test for a while tho, but signal bar comes back too.
I got the same issue with no signal/super slow on my Rogers i717. I just had to flash the modem from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2263380
and it worked fine right after. You would think its the exact same modem
Going to try to redownload and reflash this ROM to see if that fixes my no service issue....
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
ok i was haveing the same problem as Zacks so i flashed the att jellybean with odin this morning and it was still slow and had no signal then i flashed the UCMD3 modem with twrp and all is good i have good signal and the phone is acting normal(not slow)
I installed it on my I717r and it works well. Just had to install the rogers modems. Though the signal bar doesn't work in the notification bar but in the status it says I have -79dbm signal so I guess its working fine.
How to install properly:
1) Download darkside wipe( http://goo.gl/rvsQ2 ), the rogers modem ( http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/GalaxyNote/modems/ROGERS_MODEM-CWM-XLA2.zip ), Jellybean for ATT, Odin 3.07, and TWRP 2.4.0 tar ( http://goo.im/devs/OpenRecovery/sgh-i717/openrecovery-twrp-2.4.0.0-quincyatt.img.tar )
2) Put the rogers modem & darkside wipe in your sd card or internal drive doesn't really matter
3) Boot into TWRP and run darkside wipe
4) Reboot into download mode
5) Install Jelly Bean in Odin 3.07
6) Now install the TWRP 2.40 tar in Odin
7) Restart and boot into recovery and flash the rogers modem
8) Click reboot system. It'll ask you if you want to install super user, swipe to confirm
9) Now your phone will turn on wait until it turns on and you should see a notification saying SuperSU has to finish installing. Click that and follow the dialogs (if it asks you to flash or normal jsut click normal)
10) Download Uninstall master and give it root privileges. Now select all the crap bull**** you don't want, click uninstall.
11) After its done reboot and now it should be running pretty smoothly.
Got awesome battery life on this stock ROM. 8hrs in total and 4hrs on screen time with heavy usage.

Had the same issue, I'm using a Bell i717 for my Rogers phone, and what worked was the missing APN's.. if you check the APN's, do you have selected the one that has LTE on it? With it you'll be able to obtain LTE, that's how it worked for me!
Hope this helps
WHAT IS THIS?I want provide special patches to make possible run any Verizon android JB 4.1.2 ROM for DROID RAZR XT912 on RAZR XT910 without messing up with your cid and change your kernel. Also 98.72.8 stock based ROMS on DROID RAZR XT912 runing 98.72.16 kernel.
What does it means?
In example you can flash any stock based ROM verizon 98.72.16 or leaked 98.72.8 on your RAZR XT910 then install Patch From 98.72.8-16 CDMA to 982.124.14-17 GSM via custom recovery and boot device running original 982.124.14/17 kernel.
CDMA users which miss old 98.72.8 stock based ROMS can flash Patch From 98.72.8 CDMA to 98.72.16 CDMA without changing kernel and boot your DROID RAZR XT912 with 98.72.16 kernel.
Read this:
Some stock based ROMS have build.prop tweaks and init.d tweaks. After patch GSM XT910 users lost this tweaks but not others amazing ROMs features.CDMA DROID RAZR XT912 users can keep tbuild.prop tweaks if have in ROM.
if you want have build.prop modded features just add them manually. For init.d tweaks if have in modded ROM you can open folder system/etc/init.d and look if any of scripts do not init CPU control modules. From kernel to kernel this modules must be recomplied. That is why my installation script remove init.d folder if have in ROM. You also can add init.d folder with all included scripts later after boot your ROM, only remember about cpu control modules which make your phone not bootable if not run original ROM kernel.
Other than this all functions must work 100%

Oh nice, artur! You just figured out how to run .18/.16 based VZW Roms on XT910 with latest EU kernel! Good job!!
I just had a lokk into the patch and figured that you just copied all related kernel modules from VZW rom? Does wifi work on that? If wifi doesn't work you should remove ONLY the wlan modules.
