I'm running Vanilla RootBox 5-18 w/ houstonn minimum 167ghz kernel. These are real crappy Quadrant Standard scores. I'm amazed at how bad they are. I've ran RootBox before, and I was getting around 7000+ I'm not sure why they've dropped so much, and on stock I got 8000+ but this.. This is just sad. I'm not saying this is a RootBox problem, Im just wondering if any of you guys are getting these results?
I tuned everything to its MAX for one and the other one is the usual settings I have it on. But for it to be on max, isn't this a little low.
The 5k one is max settings the 3k one is my normal settings.

Eh. Benchmark scores are influenced by so many things, they're not really a very good indicator of performance. Does your phone do what you need it to? Is it quick enough for you? Then don't work about any bm score.

Yeah it is still snappy quick. I'm just obsessed with my bm scores. I have a old phone that is a peice of crap, and now they are about equal in benchmark scores. :/ Its just a little frightening. I think it may just be getting lower and lower because flashing things adds junk, then when you get rid of that and add a different thing, the junk stays there and just keeps piling up. Do you know if LGNPST completely gets rid of everything? or just /system, /data?

What??? When you flash a different ROM just wipe "system reset" and if you want system. That will format you data, system and cache partitions. This is known as a "clean flash". Then wipe dalvik/cache and reboot.
BM scores are irrelevant. What matters is how the ROM/phone performs.

That's not why. Software can influence benchmarks. I've used some lagfixes on my Captivate to push it higher than some S3 scores. Ignore benchmarks they have no importance. I'd worry more about the phone doing what I want without issues.

This. And also, the quality of the benchmarking solution can be an issue as well. I have heard that Quadrant is outdated and does not benchmark fast, quality phones very well. Check out Antutu maybe....

Its always been easy to cheat at synthetic benchmarks. They're worthless.
Sent via LG E970 with houstonn aokp 4.2.2
I'm going to disagree s bit an say benchmarks are good for testing a phone against it self. Has your phone gotten higher scores before? If so, my guess is temperature throttling. Down load quick system info app. It will show cores and usage while operating so you can see if you're reaching top max settings. Click arrow next to info in notification tray and info will float like qslide
OG e970 stock+
mystery emotionz 5.1
1.72 GHz oc/uv
It's not entirely throttling. I've disabled temp throttling, run it in the deep freeze, etc. I also check time in state logs to verify that all cores stay pegged at maxfreq.
Sent via LG E970 with houstonn aokp 4.2.2
Lg did a great job with optimizing the stock ROM n kernel. This is why stock out scores aosp. To bad you don't feel the difference in day to day use.

oh wow i thought it does ,and yea my quadrant runs 1300 , when i do it 2nd time
always ignore the first results on those benchmark apps
but i agree that people need to stop obsessing with these things, data2sd could give you high scores but the phone would lag so, if you can cheat it doesn't mean anything.
I used data 2 sd, and got a quadrant score of 2600, but phone started to lag. don't worry about the score, i mean, once you've seen yours get that high, the novelty wears off
Sent from my X10 TripNMiUI using XDA Premium App
I agree. Have achieved 2839 with data2sd and 1603 without, but you have to spend 5 minutes changing all your settings about to get this plus it burns through your battery. No one would actually use the phone like that. And you have to keep lots of memery free so either few apps installed or all on SD and it takes ages for them to appear again on reboot.

I only use quadrant now to compare between roms that are both set to my personal preferences to compare performance.

I agree that benchmark scores are not important in everyday use and that u can have great scores and laggy phone, BUT his question stil stands.
Why does he get low scores at same setup that most people have graet score?
Nevermind the benefits of high scores, what is the reason?
3 things....
1) he needs to close useless apps ...
2) move quadrant to sd card (with app2sd)
3) run benchmark 2 times ... 2nd result should be around 1300 on custom roms ...
if you got still really bad performance, maybe your sd card is slow/"old"

on Wolf's CM 6 my score (Quadrant advanced) is from 1350 to 1550
_
and another strange thing is:
my work mate have x10. we bought it from the same operator. he bought it 2 months after i did.
We both, at the same time, installed same custom ROM (Wolf's CM 6). We followed the exact same procedure (after SD format and repair via PC Companion) and without any exta apps (only Quadrant) instaled i have much better Quadrant scores, he has some issues that i dont have, my battery lasts almost twice longer.
Strange, is'nt it?
But, on the other way, he has BMW M5 and I have Mazda 2, so I think this is fair.
it all depends on how you did your initial charge for battery. did you use it right away, or charge it right away for 5+ hours? ask your mate what he did

As far as I understand electonics, battery condition can have influence on battery life, but not on benchmark scores when both of batterys are completly full and on the same setup.

Nope no widgets. I'll have to try and freeze some more bloat.
Use setcpu, and use scaling performance so that it's truly running at 1.5GHz. Samsung uses "on-demand" speed scaling, so when you test, there's a chance it might be running at less than 1.5 if it hasn't scaled up to 1.5 yet
I'm running stock ROM (only rooted), CWM b4 recovery, and Da_G overclock kernel
Dont just freeze bloat uninstall it! I never freeze it.
i'm running stock everything except i run an installed Launcher. why would mine be higher than some others? does rooting slow it down?
here is my benchmark.
Using GO launcher, 6 home screens, 11 widgets - WidgetLocker Running in background w/ beautiful widgets.
SauROM w/ DaG kernel overclocked - 1.83 ghz - V6 supercharger script 1000+hp
My setCPU is 1.83 on "performance" setting (yes it makes a difference).

Couple things here, and by no means am I an Apple fan to ANY degree, but....
4S is close to year old technology, so comparing it to a brand new superphone like the Note (even the Skyrocket which has been to market for a couple months now) is silly. I generally like Phonedog and was genuinely surprised that guy would even compare the two devices. It sets a really silly precedent because 8 months from now, he'll likely make the same comparison between the Note and the Iphone5 which just might be similarly unfair, in the other direction.
Also, Quadrant is very nearly fraudulent in terms of its usefulness in showing the "actual" speed of a device, in a real-world sense, so I take ANY statement that starts or ends with Quadrant benchmarking with a huge truckload of salt.
Just my take...

lol Congrats. I bet you could easily hit 16000. try this and I bet you score alot higher. get system tuner. then go into could tweaks. set the governor there to Performance. then set the min. speed slider all the way up to Max. now you should see all 4 of your CPU maxed out @ 1.8Ghz full time. meaning each core is active @ 1.8Ghz. the regular overclocking doesn't enable all 4 cores to run at once at those speeds. Method I just described will and is why I usually score alot higher than people on same 1.6Ghz clock speed as me. my 2D and 3D scores on quadrant was even higher than that one guy who made the 1.8Ghz available. and that was me still @ 1.6ghz. my 2D score was more than double his @ 1.8Ghz. you can also go into settings, then developer options. then enable the force gpu rendering. that should help increase your scores also.

Nice! I have my kernel running at 1.8 GHz now. I basically enabled what I had the first time I tried, but now the voltages are the same as my latest 1.7. This time it runs fine. I am a little disappointed that the scores aren't higher though and keep wondering what else is limiting us. Hope to do more study soon. The voltage regulator is keeping us pinned at 1500mV and I haven't tried to up that yet. We don't need it yet...but we will if we want to go higher.

EDIT: I wonder if there is a way to make the kernel use 1.6ghz for balanced and then use performance to screw around with. Can I edit this myself motley?

Sometimes I wonder what our mates who are completely uninterested in technology think when we do something like what the OP said in the kitchen. I'm currently dating a guy who likes to write more than anything else. Writing creatively just isn't my cup of tea. He, on the other hand, is just not interested at all with technology. And somehow we've gravitated toward each other.
He some times give me weird looks when I yell out "****, yeah!" after I've hard modded something or successfully soldered things together that weren't meant to be together and still work. I guess opposites do attract.

My fiance knows how to work a PC because of her job. I got my first PC after we got together 10 years ago (I was 22) and she showed me the basics...then all hell broke loose.
I love anything and everything tech, and have had 5 Android devices since, not including PCs and MP3players,etc and I am constantly showing and telling her about how I have to unlock this, flash this, yadayada, and she always laughs and calls me a dork. BUT, when I bought my Prime, I didn't want her to ***** about me already having a TouchPad, so I bought her a 7" Galaxy Tab, and it turns out a lot of the stuff I showed her actually rubbed off, because she jumped right into Android and loves it.
So, you never know I guess. It's so cool that she understands much of what I tell her about home launchers, apps,Widgets, and Modding now.

What widgets and apps do you still have running in the background? That affects performance. I have bloat disabled and I can routinely get 35K and above. Highest score was 37K.
Benchmarks mean nothing if you don't know the exact state of the device.

the G3 throttles back really easily. Unless it's been sitting idle for a while or you've disabled throttling, you won't get 35k+. see this

you cannot do the test while charging, particularly with qualcomm quickcharge, it skews the results not in your favor
On 8.0

Pretty wierd that these scores are that low (not that synthetics matter, but still). My U11 which has the same SOC managed to get 210k on the first run.

U11 uses cheats in GUI for UX test in Antutu. Somehow it keeps refresh rate at 60fps constantly or similar tweaks to cheat user experience

Also 165K on new Atututu. And my Axon 7 with S820 gets 172K.

This is another reason I don't use Antutu. My previous phone (Moto Quark) got a certain score -- within 10,000 points -- depending whether or not I put it in the freezer first for a few minutes to chill it. Then, Antutu released a "new" version, and suddenly the phone jumped 40,000 points. NOTHING about the phone had changed. The phone was NOT any faster in any way than it was before. But Antutu realizes HIGHER SCORES make people think they have better phones. So, suddenly with new version they artificially added more "points" to all phones.

I stopped using Antutu for that reason and more. It never showed how I REALLY used my phone day to day, and so many OEMs (OnePlus and others) constantly cheat to boost their scores FOR JUST THESE BENCHMARK TESTS. They artificially boost performance to levels that cannot be sustained more than a few minutes without overheating and melting down. OEMs that do NOT cheat on these benchmark tests are then penalized by having "lower" scores.
I found myself doing stupid stuff like putting my phone in the freezer for 10 minutes to chill it down before running Antutu tests so I would get higher scores, and then I realized that didn't prove anything. Since I don't carry a portable cooler with me full of ice to chill my phone when I'm not using it...

You have no idea what you're talking about do you? Refresh rate is measured in Hz and have nothing to do with your framerate in benchmarks.
Thought i'd update this thread a little because performance has increased substantially with custom roms.

lol that's just like "the open window mod" in winter times for the cpu overclocking hunters ?
give a peep on benchmarks, no real world usage reflection there. makes fun watching them but nothing more :good:

What rom and kernel?
LG-H930 (v21O)
Stock ROM
I freshed up my v30 after trying different mods and roms, so i did a clean refurbish flash of 21o + magisk and get this result with Antutu 7.1.3
Stock Result 168.151 Points
Now ive started to freeze some applications with Titanium Backup, sometimes its better to not freeze things (you can get serious problems or just less points) but you can get out more performance. Didnt went too deep into it, just tried with a few things i dont need. In this way it was possible for me to get out about 10% more points in Antutu, im sure theres more possible if i would try with each and every entry in Titanium Backup.
Points after quick debloating 186.343
Does more Antutu Points really mean more performance or is it just within the benchmark? I mean do 10% more points mean 10% more performance?
Is there already somewhere a list of things we can freeze without doubts?
I've got this after a short time of doing nothing with my device.
