I just wanted to share my experience with HTC's warranty repair. My phone's screen died and I didn't have insurance. I had about a month left in the HTC warranty, so I called HTC and they asked me to send the phone. I mailed the phone on a Tuesday or Wednesday and got it back on Friday the next week. I had used HTC dev and unlocked the boatloader but I relocked it before I sent it for repair.

Good to know. No questions asked then. I am about to return to stock from being S-OFF as I am having issues with my digitizer. I was going to see what Sprint will do first.

I also would like to share my experience with HTC warranty repair in UK .I bought this phone 6 months ago and I was always really happy with it since 3 weeks ago when I had a problem with the power botton. Seemed that the power botton was locked on and the phone was continuously restarting.
I sent it to HTC warranty and after a few days they replyed that the phone has a liquid damage and that is not cover by warranty and they have to
replace everything inside , the cost of reparation is 210 pounds. Then I had to declined their offer and I ask it back ( they charged me
30 pounds for the labor and the shipping) .When I got it home I open it ( using a tutorial video on youtube on how to open an HTC ONE X + and my basic knowledge)
and I found out that the problem was just a pin out of place. I plug it in back and the phone restarted normaly (I'm not a technician or a engineer and I don't know anything about circuits) .
I'm woundering how many people like me have they charged for nothing!!!
Shame to HTC warranty service and who do the repairs for them ( REGENERSIS ) .

I would like to share with u same sort of experience with Htc warranty repair, as i got the phone from three, after ten months htc mic was not working as i couldn't hear the other person when receiving or making call. after going through troubleshooting with the Three technical team they advised me that phone is eligible for repair as it isn't water damaged and covered by Warranty.
after sending the phone by post, they emailed the quotation saying phone is all rusty and water damaged, not covered by HTC Warranty. The same day i refused the repair and i complained to THREE and to HTC without paying Admin fee & postage. Today i got email saying we r returning ur phone.
Now i am waiting for the Phone and i will check the phone for water damage and prove them wrong. I will keep u posted for the updates.

Does anyone know of screen repair options (I'm not technically minded enough to attempt it myself).
Dropped my HD2 a couple of months back and cracked the screen in the top corner but was still useable. I've now cracked the rest of my screen (whilst in my pocket).
I need to get it repaired. Any ideas on where and how much would be appreciated. Also will I need to reload the original o2 ROM & Radio etc before sending it for repair.
Not sure if I should be paying myself or claiming on work insurance (£60 excess)
Cheers
Pete
Re: Screen repair UK
I sent my phone to modifications dot co dot uk a while ago when I cracked the screen. Sent the phone off and the chap called me the next day to discuss the repair. Would recommend as an option. In the end he couldn't repair the phone but always good to see a company willing to take the time to discuss with the customer beforehand.
I broke the screen on my HD2 and just sent it to HTC UK. They charged me £110 i think it was (few months ago) inc. return delivery. If you can't find it a lot cheaper somewhere else then just go with HTC - mine come back looking brand new
£110, god, I hope mines no more than that
Anyone have any idea what it takes to replace the glass screen? I broke mine this morning and I am totally ticked off about it. For one, AT$T (with $ sign on purpose) charges 199 for a warranty replacement. I guess I shouldn't say AT&T since it really is the insurance carrier that charges that.
I would think I could get it replaced cheaper than 199. Maybe even buy an Unlocked Titan on the market somewhere?
Any thoughts or ideas?
Thanks,
Rick
You could try HTC direct that way you keep the warranty.
Or take insurance out wait a few weeks then claim

I called HTC for that very reason, $150 plus shipping and not having my phone for a maximum of 10 days. Tough to do.
I have insurance and I opted to use it. It is my second claim in less than a year so my insurance has been canceled. If I break it again, I will send it to HTC for repair.
The problem with smart phones is that are so darn good that you can't live with out it for 10 days.
The phone it to new for 3rd party repair places, no parts.
So I just purchased Amaze from eBay, now I need to decide if I should get warranty for it through squaretrade Normally I buy it, since phones with eBay don't come with warranty but this time they are quoting me me an outrageous $72 for 1 year, almost 1/5 the price I paid for phone
Build wise the phone looks pretty sturdy and is in mint condition, so wondering if I should get it? How is the general feedback about the phone...are there lot of RMAs
I know about the squeak issue with some phones, but luckily I don't have it and its also covered by HTC since back cover is an accessory so i'm eligible..
You still have HTC warranty. I bought phones from eBay and HTC honored the warranty.
If you have T-Mobile, you can call them and tell them you received the Amaze as a gift and you can add insurance, warranty or insurance + warranty.

As I said, HTC only provides warranty on accessories not the phone
I don't have T-mobile...but do you know how much will just the warranty normally cost through TMO?
EDIT: Just noticed, for rooting/custom ROMS I would have to unlock the bootloader through HTCdev tool, guess it would pretty much void any warranty ?
If it was me, then yep I would be purchasing a warranty, just in case as you just never know man.
Also of course, anytime you root your phone will void a warranty, but can always install the original GB 2.3.4 back on it and be good to go. Heck, I know people that forget to put it back and still are fine, but I would take it back to factory myself.
Good luck!

No. HTC does warranty the phone still.
Sent From My HTC Amaze 4G via Someone's Room
HTC will honour hardware warranty - provided the damage wasn't the result of software overclocking - even after unlocking the device. Software issues you'd be on your own for with custom ROMs... but I'd assume they'll support you if you revert to stock.
I bought an Amaze off eBay back in January from who I thought was reputable on eBay. Used the phone for 3 1/2 weeks and T-Mobile shut my service off. Phone had a fraudulent IMEI. The guy I bought from refunded me after I shipped it back, but do yourself a quick favor before buying a ST warranty and other accessories. Call T-Mobile, tell them your IMEI and just make sure yours is clean. You'll feel better going forward buying accessories and stuff.

I would. It's cheap and a smart buy in my humble opinion.

Thanks so much. They did let me add insurance for my "gift" phone (bought from cragslist). I think they can see I've been using the phone less than 14 days and didn't bother verifying whether it a used phone or not.

If that's insurance from T-mobile then I'd remove it right away. The reps are required to get a certain amount of sales per hour and even if you have insurance on your line, Assurion will not cover the phone for damage because the phone was not bought from T-mobile. I was a rep there and seen people get declined because of this same reason. I would call them up and downgrade to warranty only. It's what I use, because I know if I send in a damaged phone that it's still cheaper than sending a phone into Assurion for an insurance claim. The only thing the warranty won't cover is lost/stolen. If you do damage your phone you just don't tell the rep that it's damaged and you'll get a out of warranty fee on a later bill.

Can they really tell the phone was not bought by ME from T-mobile? Otherwise it is still a phone with Tmobile logo on it bought by someone from Tmobile.

Incorrect. As a former rep, I know some loopholes. I bought my Amaze from eBay. My brother cracked the screen when he dropped it on the concrete (idiot) and Asurion sent me a new one.

Yes. When a phone was used and is registered on another account. It'll show the warranty is invalid. If you say it was a gift and add warranty/insurance, they will honor it.

As a former rep, why would you even carry insurance through T-mobile? The warranty is $4 less per month and the OOW(out of warranty) fee is cheaper than doing a claim with Asurion. The highest I seen a OOW fee was $115 for the SGS2 and the Amaze was $105. Also, the OOW fee drops as time goes on, but the Asurion claim fee remains the same high price.
So my S2 died Sunday 14th, would not turn on no matter what i did wouldnt charge just died. Its rooted every since i got it and never had any issues. So i know rooting it void my warranty but i called samsung UK booked the repair they send the a free post bag send it back on 18th and have my S2 back on the 24th repair and updated with no questions about why it was rooted they just fixed it no questions asked.
I have to commend them for this, and for the service they provide i will stick to samsung for all my future phones due to this great service.
GREAT Job SAMSUNG!!!!! :good::good:
As long as the rooting process/flashing had nothing to do with the phone dying, you should always get the phone repaired or replaced for free
No.They will chuck it back at you if they discover its
Not running stock rom
Water damaged
Your lucky they couldnt boot it up.If they could youd have been hit with a bill for about £180,or got it back unfixed.

In my country we have insane customer rights, if the rooting / flashing has nothing to do with the error on the phone, then they will fix it / replace it.
If the person you are delivering the phone to, doesn't mention that it will cost money, it won't cost anything.
We have additional 5 years of "warranty".
Well , i got the dreaded bootloop of death last night..... Had to go and get me a V20.
intruction
How did you get a V20? I sent my V10 for repair(even though it was out of warranty LG accepted to repair it)

Paid it off and upgraded....they wouldn't cover it under warranty. Got it in December a year and some change ago. I still have it, would love if there was a way to repair it.....

Actually I send it off to lg. They told me they can repair it for free even though it was out of warranty! All because of bootloop. Maybe you can send it too
Well, they said on the website to send it in for repair. They never mentioned a charge so does that mean they fix it free?
I bought my v10 used. about 3 months later, it did the bootloop thing. I believe it was partly my fault, though. I was outside messing around in the yard and I sat my phone on my picnic table in the sun without thinking. about half an hour later, i picked it up to use it and it was in the process of shutting itself down due to overheating. At least, that's what it said on the screen. next day, I was inside using it as a mtg life counter for my son and I, and it shut down and bootlooped... No saving it... I tried everything... As for my question, would lg fix it for me out of warranty if I bought it used, or do they require proof of purchase?
I just got mine fixed for free even though it's 6 months after the warranty expired. They did require proof of purchase. A simple bill of sale might work. I don't know.
Mine died the other night. Just locked up then shut down, now it powers on shows the android logo and powers off. Took over the Verizon store, I guess I have an extended warranty because the guy said I would get one sometime today. no charge. I wish I could afford to buy a different phone at this time.
I've had the bootloop issue twice. The first was10 months after purchase and Verizon gave me a refurb. The 2nd was10 months after that and Verizon wouldn't touch it but LG fixed it. I did the online chat with LG and mentioned that I didn't have the proof of purchase and that it was a replacement also. She sent me a form to sign stating that it was my phone and legal mumbo jumbo. I sent it in and 7 days later I got it back.
Id give it a shot with the chat and I'd say they'll fix it.
They were a hell of a lot better to deal with than Verizon that's for sure.
