I love the look of aosp, but love the sense five ROM and feature. If any themer out there could make a mod to change the Sense 5 status bar to an AOSP look, that would be great.

bump again. The only thing that's keeping me on a sense rom is the camera and camcorder feature, i have kids so i HAVE to have a working camera. i'd be willing to throw $50+ at anyone who can completely or even partially desense NOS M7 or any other sense 5 rom. if not completely i'd still be more than happy to have my AOSP Status Bar and Lock Screens back
Ya, that's why I would do it. The camera and also the GPS, which i use in the city. For lock screen, I just use widget locker which is pretty close.

I would like this as well. I think a fully aosp themed sense 5 would be awesome. Also I'm pretty sure you can get the aosp lock screen if you delete/rename htclockscreen.apk. I know that works on sense 4+ and I'm pretty sure I did it on sense 5 as well.

You might be able to mod the status bar part of the framework to change it to aosp. You'd have to find out what the status bar is in aosp, and change the sense one to that.

There are a number of AOSP roms that are out right now which have full camera functionality (including taking pictures while recording) as well as gps. If you're serious about that $50 bucks I'll even do all the work for you and send it back.

As much as I loved cm10, I was beginning to run into more and more app closes on a regular basis. Unfortunately it got to a point where I wasn't able to use many of the apps that I rely on daily. So back to stable cm7.
That being said, I miss alot of the jellybean love that cm10 brought to the x2. Was wondering if anyone had any input on apps or tweaks that could get more jellybean features into gb. So far I have found and use the following :
Holo launcher
Holo lock
GoSMS Pro with an ICS theme
I think I am missing the notification changes the most. I found jellybean notifications+ but that has been pulled from the app store.
Any input is appreciated, thanks!

I feel the same way. I mean I love what CM10 has to offer and I love the huge improvement in speed and functionality it gave to my phone and there are some things that are really making it difficult to want to stay on CM10. A really big one are the app crashes, and from what I gather, those apps may never really work since they use drivers at the kernel level that we won't have access to as long as the bootloader is locked. I can't use gmail at all except for reading the headlines of the emails. As soon as I enter the email, the app crashes. Obviously Chrome doesn't work, which is a browser I'd like to use. I've been using Dolphin Browser almost as long as I've had my phone and I can't use it at all on CM10. Another thing is wifi hotspots not working. I frequently tether my tablet to my phone's data connection and I can't do it while on CM10. The last thing is the horrible battery life. My phone seems to die around 5pm under the same conditions where my phone would last until 9pm or later on GB
unfortunately, the only thing to do is wait for CM10 to become more stable. I've tried CM7/9/10 and Eclipse and I keep going back to eclipse. 2.3 + supercharger + holo launcher is pretty much the best.
i loved CM10 while i used it but apps closing and such made it just unusable. hopefully dragonzkiller can get it working but at a certain point there's only so much he can do.

The problem though is that with the whole texture thing that ICS/JellyBean apps use that the GB kernel doesn't have, I don't think we'll ever get around those apps crashing short of using an old version of said apps without ICS/JellyBean elements...but then what's the point of running either one?
Guys question how do you claim to love cm10 when you can't use any major app like gmail or others.lol

I didnt have any issues with gapps, I even flashed a inverted Gmail and MMS with no problems. Some of my non-ICS optimized apps crashed out though.

Because aside from not being able to use some apps, JellyBean works amazingly. The operating system as a whole is wonderful and fluid and I'm gonna cry when I eventually downgrade because of the gmail issues and the horrible horrible battery life I am getting.
This isn't "Jelly Beanified" but will give you the ICS look if that is close enough for you. Check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1324924
Holo is great, but I don't care much for Holo Locker.
I use Widget Locker Pro instead.
It has some ICS and JB lock screen defaults and a metric poop ton of options for customizing the experience.
There is also an ICS Theme for the t-Mobile Theme Chooser app, between that theme, holo launcher and holo locker, it looks like pretty awesome. Other than applying these elements and maybe trying a theme patch using acPatch, I don't think you are going to get any closer to looking like JB. There is also a Jelly Bean status bar in the play store, but several users report that it's a ram hog. If I can get theses themes running on my MX2 with CM7, I'll post some screen shots.
Also, give this thread a look around, you might find some things you like:
CM7 Ice Cream Sandwich + Jelly Bean Look, All In One
I attached some screenshots. The ones with the Jelly Bean icon in the status bar were taken with the Jelly Bean Status Bar installed. I don't recommend it as it is constantly force closing. The rest were used with Holo Launcher, Holo Locker, and an ICS/JB theme for CM7
My sig shows Eclipse but I am currently running DZK's CM7
I've done a few searches but don't really see anything so forgive me if I missed anything, but I was wondering if there were any aosp style lockscreen mods for the evo lte? Would it have to be an entire skin or theme or could there just be a mod to the lockscreen itself to remove the sense lock and replace with the aosp lock? Thanks in adavance
not sure... but some sense roms include like viper rom.

Flash OMJs modpack and only select aosp recent apps. Its aroma, so you can pick and choose which mods you want.
Granted you're rooted and everything...

There used to be an htclockscreen.apk in system/spp in older versions of sense, and you could just remove/rename it and get straight android lockreen (because it IS there, under the sense stuff). But I think its more complex now, involving fusion.apk and idlescreen.apk. At least, sense 3.0 used those apks. I only had sense on this device for a brief minute, so not sure on sense 4.0. In any case, just a little additional info for anyone wanting to dig/explore lol
From my Evo LTE, yup.

For anyone else interested this worked. I went into root explorer opened system then app then deleted the HtcLockScreen.apk (after long press and copying then pasting to sdcard2 just incase). This should be obvious but you will lose your app shortcuts. You get the basic AOSP style lockscreen with the clock display and the unlock or open camera in the ring, and camera does open when selected. Nothing else seems to be affected yet but I'm not knowledgeable enough to even know if anything else would be. Its still early and haven't received any calls or texts yet to see if the notification box shows on the lockscreen or not but I would assume it won't since I'd think the sense lockscreen would be needed to complete path for those. Thanks for the info.

Confirmed that the notification boxes do not pop up on lockscreen for texts which I expected.

So I'm loving this One, but some of the stock apps I'm not liking (primarily MMS, mail, browser, keyboard, launcher)
I've installed Nova, Chrome, Swiftkey, chomp, and gmail, which are doing a great job of replacing and I've nearly got the phone in a good place.
My problem is that the Sense lockscreen still shows the stock apps, including indicators for new text messages i've already read via chomp. Now that I'm using Nova Launcher, I can't figure out how to modify the sense lockscreen to change the apps that are at the base there.
Almost all of this is being done because while I like blinkfeed enough, I already use Flipboard and don't want that as my initial screen and it seems like Sense isn't going to allow us to have a more traditional homescreen with blinkfeed to the left or right. I'm also not a huge fan of swapping between modes of blinkfeed+icons and traditional home screen.
I'm posting this here in T-mo General looking for advice because flashing another ROM isn't an option for me. My understanding is that flashing a ROM will lose the wifi calling capability, and that is really important for me. What would you guys do?
You should only lose wifi calling if you flash a AOSP based ROM. I understand that you want to "de-sense" you're phone so an AOSP ROM would be your best bet.
This phone is brand new so development is still slow right now but I bet you should start seeing some Sense-based ROM's without all the Sense bloat start popping up soon
In regards to your lockscreen issue, have you looked into using a lockscreen replacement like WidgetLocker?
Did you replace the icons in the dock on Rosie (Sense launcher).
I'm still using the Sense launcher and my lockscreen shows what I have on my dock.

Won't you potentially also lose some camera and other specialized functionality relative to the hardware?
That is correct. You will just have stock android camera without Zoe and all that jazz
I usually always go AOSP but I really like the camera features here. Gonna be a tough call

You will lose wifi calling if you flash a non-tmobile rom, like one of the M7 HTC One roms or an AT&T rom.

Is it possible to flash the camera apk? is there a camera apk or is it part of sense itself?
I'm gonna take an educated guess based on my experience with Samsung. Usually custom camera apps are deeply integrated in custom android versions (sense, tw, etc). You can pull the apk and may even get it to install but my guess is that it will FC

If you look in the AT&T sub forum of the One, there is a ahpla of CM10.1 which means that CM10.1 is being worked on right now for the One. I am sure it will work with all HTC Ones once it is done. I would give it a month or two and we should be pretty good off. It is still really early in the game.
Was wondering if this is even remotely possibly, or if it's already been done. I love almost all of sense's features like the camera, dialer, sms, etc....but i HATE the app drawer, lockscreen, and multitask screen. are there any roms, or is it possible to modify a rom, to have the features i mentioned de-sensed running vanilla instead of sense? thanks for taking the time to read this

viper has an option for aosp lock screen and recents, and if you use a third party launcher you can get an aosp lock drawer. Also nos's sense 5 ROM has a flashable aosp recents.
You can also get the aosp lock screen on any ROM by deleting htclockscreen.apk in /system/app

Check in the app/mod request section. The AOSP recent apps mod is there. ViperDNA has all the modifications you mentioned baked into it. Also, you can use Nova Launcher from the Play Store on any ROM, regardless of root. This will fix your app drawer problem. Below is the link to Nova Launcher.

I'm sure this has been covered but I couldn't find any threads, so please forgive me for rehashing something if I have missed it.
What is the difference between a desensed rom and an AOSP rom? I thought the only difference between a sense ROM and AOSP was the Sense launcher. If you remove this, wouldn't you just have AOSP type ROM?
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Unfortunately not. The Sense launcher (known as Rosie) is but one piece of the Sense framework. The Sense framework affects the entire UI of the device (status bar, settings page, lockscreen, the list is a tad long...) as well as features that are "below" the UI so to speak, like system settings and the kernel. I'm not really sure what goes into (or out of) a ROM to "desense" it, but it's probably just some theming and removing some of the default Sense apps like the launcher and lockscreen in favor of more AOSP-like alternatives. This doesn't mean that the device isn't running Sense, though, it just means it's a bit harder to see it

You can run an alternative launcher what will give you the look, but not more.
If you desense your ROM using Romcleaner, you use an alternative launcher and some parts of the ROM ( apk ) are cleaned, but there are still sense elements.
But it is much faster ...

Thanks. So a desensed rom is only going to look different than a sense rom. It might look like AOSP, but the core sense components will still be there using memory and battery. I was wondering if a desensed ROM offered any improvements in memory usage or battery life, but I'm guessing not since just changing a launcher shouldn't do much for anything but looks.

It won't look like an aosp rom either. It will look no diffrent to using a diffrent launcher on stock rom. But without sense in the background using up resources.

Are you saying a desensed ROM does use less resources and power even though it isn't AOSP?
