Galaxy Player 5.0 Experiencing Charging/Connection Problems - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0
-I received this as a gift a while back, and barely used it (I had also received an iPod touch, sorry 'bout it). After my iPod broke, I decided to make use of the SGP5 again, but I had forgotten my pass code, and then I had forgotten my google information.
-So I decided to hard reset the device, and it reset the whole thing. The thing is, the SGP5 is completely dead now, it won't charge on either the computer, OR with the basic wall charger. I have tried MANY different USB cords including the one it came with, but all it does is turn the SGP5 on for a second, and then it turns off again. It continues to do this as long as it's plugged into the computer or the wall.
-My computer says it doesn't recognize the device.
-I have download Kies, but i'm totally at a loss when it comes to what I should do next...
-I cannot even access the device itself because it continues to turn on and off.
-PLEASE HELP!!!
P.S. If I have left out anything, please feel free to ask!!!

Hi,
Just flash the stock ROM and the stock kernel via ODIN, just google for "How-to use Odin" and search on XDA " Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 Intl (or US or KOR) stock ROM"
Good luck, Androthan

Pulling my effin hair out

so about 2 weks ago i did the ota update to android 3.2. ever since then my tab has been acting crazy. it wont recognize charging unless i restart it plugged in. it will say mtp connected plugged in or not to usb. if plugged in the wall i cant turn it off it just boots itself back up. im trying to root but i cant get this thing to do SH*T. ive re installed drivers multiple times and if i go to device manager it wont show tab. any help would be great guys and gals
im running the ota update 3.2 for a few weeks now, no issues really other then a few tweaks I did to make the device fasters, I would suggest doing a factory reset via the settings menu, backup yer data first!! as for the drivers, the fastest way to get them to work is to install kies for galaxy tab, google it...my galaxy tab 10.1 is actually rooted, overclocked, and running a custom kernel...so its pretty fast, but even with all stock I have not had the problems you are talking about.

Well now I'm rooted running ics rom and over clocked, but my tab for whatever reason doesn't recognize being plugged in USB or ac. It did this prior to root but after 3.2 update. Like right now it says 3% battery and I need to plug it up. Problem is that its currently plugged in to AC charger. I can get it to sometimes recognize the plug if I restart it multiple times with plug in. If I power off then plug in it automatically powers up.
I just restarted while plugged in AC and it now says battery at 100% lol this thing is nuts.
Sell it to a developer really cheap, do a warranty exchange, ODIN back to stock and repeat.... I assume drivers on the PC are not the issue.
Yeah the PC drivers are fine. I really don't want to sell it or have to do the warranty exchange. If I send it back I'll have to unroot. Not to mention not having it for a while.
^ then keep pulling your hair out
Honestly, I understand. Also hate when people send devices in for warranty stuff.... but your issue sounds legit. I would be concerned if there was an issue with the charging port long-term.
ok so they said they would fix it but im trying to unroot and i need the stock recovery i downloaded the zip files for dummies and tied to use odin3 to flash the stock recovery that cam in the zip but it keeps failing.
so i just kept restarting into download mode and it finally worked
now that i have it unrooted its on 3.1 i need it on 3.2 before i send it back. i tried to do the update from the tab but it did one update but not for android 3.2.
So Im probably gonna send my tab back tomorrow. Do you guys think they will give me crap because my tabs now on 3.1 when I complained about an issue after update to 3.2?

If the issue is still happening, then no because its a hardware issue. Root or 3.2 didnt break it as the ODIN proved. Silly question, but you did try a different cable? And unless 3.2 changed something, only pershoots kernel allows for actual USB charging, stock TWUX never supported it. Only accepted a 2amp 3.7v on the correct cable (power wires are switched or something).

no i didnt try another cable and for me to run odin i had to restart the tab many times and when its plugged in the wall sometimes it recognizes and sometimes not when i plug in usb it wont mount storage or even to kies like the tab will show connected but the computer wont recognize tried all usb ports. i figured they might ask how i got it to 3.1 after doing the update without rooting i put stock recovery back on also to completely go back stock

Definately sounds like a cable or 30 pin port issue. I will mention that Samsung has always been cheap with their cables on their phones anyway, but I haven't had an issue with the tabs. Onboard USB ports are the only ones I trust. Too many issues with front panel ports in the past with ODIN. I wouldn't worry about 3.1 vs 3.2 though. Of course you could always put 3.2 back on, I think there is an ODINable 3.2 around somewhere, but its been a while since I looked. Send it back, or try a different cable.

Got the tab back and rooted again with ics rom. Ended up replacing 30 pin port.

[Q] Need help for hardbricked T-Mo GS3

Hey guys,
So I have hardbricked my Galaxy S3. This is solely my fault as I was being dumb (even though I want to blame it on staying up so late at night) and did not check to see what GS3 version the ROM I flashed was for. Turns out it was international and now my phone is a sitting brick.
The only observations that I have made is that my computers recognize the phone almost like any other device. I have installed the correct drivers and tried to use 2 computers (1 with Kies, 1 w/o) with no luck of fixing it. However, both computers recognize it as QHSUSB_DLOAD under Device Manager and create that faulty driver installed sound when plugged in. When I plug the phone in with the battery out, its LED turns red and will stay like that unless I try to turn it on with the power button. When I do try, my computers seen to recognize some sort of change with its connection the phone.
I spent all afternoon yesterday making a homemade jig with 3 100k resistors in a series soldered into pins 4 and 5 of a microusb connector which I then connected to the phone with no avail
I was hoping to make this thread to see who else has this problem and different observations and solutions. Does anyone know if a jig bought from a 3rd party will work? I do not necessarily want to take the steps to return/exchange the phone.
Thanks in advance.
Well I ended up calling Samsung and getting them to check it out. I didn't want to do it this way, but I'm basically left with no choice. I read that galaxy s2 owners who bricked also sent theirs in and received it without any problems. Samsung paid for 2nd day air both ways. Let's hope for the best.
From what I've read in other threads....when you get the QHSUSB_DLOAD...that's hardbricked. Mind sharing what you told Samsung what you did? I'm curious to see if they'll fix it....please update what happens. Oh and sorry for your loss.
and for future losses, if any, check this out.... http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-jtag-brick-repair/#reviews

There is a "how to" in the android development section for helping reverse a brick from flashing international gsm rom.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
the how to doesnt apply here
It's only for flashIng a bad boot.img. in this state it's like hardware w/o any software. I think Samsung has to wipe it clean to fix it so the old "it just wouldn't turn on" should do.. and the jig is no good in this situation either f.y.i

[Q] possible brick? samsung fascinate

okay, so my brother wanted to root his samsung fascinate after my dad gave it to him, so i said alright and downloaded a bunch of those one click root apps, and none of them worked. after a bit of web browsing, we figured out how using ODIN. a little bit of downloading later, we unsuccessfully root the phone. so we try again, except when we selected the PDA file, we chose a ROM built for a samsung epic 4g. so we flashed a rom for a totally different phone to our samsung fascinate. for a while, it would sit at a boot loop, flashing the words, " Samsung Galaxy Epic 4G from t-mobile. then we let the phone die, and now it doesn't show anything on the screen at all. we know it's still bootlooping because when we plug the phone in to the computer it flashes, one the USB devices attached to this computer have malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message. when i click the message it brings up a list of USB devices connected to my computer, my phone showing up as Unknown Device. I have no clue what i have to do, someone pleas help me. additional info, i have an HP mini netbook, windows ultimate. the phone does NOT go into download mode when the volume key is held down. This phone is a U.S Cellular Samsung Galaxy Fascinate. please help.
As far as download mode goes,,,
Battery out,,,
Usb plugged into pc,,, then
Into phone,,, then
Hold volume down button...
Enters download mode

I mean I can't get the phone into download mode at all. I do that combo but nothing appears on the computer, and nothing appears on screen.
Is most probably a soft brick ! Try using jig to get into download mode if button combo doesn't work .
Btw can you connect it to adb
You might have to go to epic 4g forums to find out how they get their phone into DL mode since you basically wrote over the fassy boot loader with the epic 4g one. This might or might not work. You did a big no-no flashing another phones firmware.

You'll probably have to use a jig, do a search on what that is and how to get/make one
Thank you for the jig idea. I ordered one on amazon and I made one today, I have yet to test it. I ordered one on amazon in case my home made one doesn't work, I don't really have high hopes. Can someone give me download links for the stock ROM for my Samsung fascinate?
Droidstyle's guide has links for the stock rom and most everything else you need
I fixed it turns out I couldn't charge my phone, so I asked a random girl to use her phone, took out her battery, plugged it into the teacher's computer, took it out, plugged in the jig, got into download mode, plugged into teachers computer again, took out her battery, put in mine, charged my battery a little, took a netbook from a different teacher, downloaded Odin and flashed my phone flashed the wrong image again though xD it turns out I have a u.s cellular Samsung mesmerize instead of a Samsung facsinate, so my phone thinks its connected to Verizon network xD oh well it works and I'm happy thanks for the jig idea! Bought it from Amazon and got here like 3 weeks later.

[Q] (Q) Is it really hard bricked? Comments welcomed

Hello all... After reading some threads I felt like I needed to start my own to clarify some things...
I have a friend who has a Galaxy SII (I9100) and she had some trouble with it...
SHe mentioned that her phone started acting erratic, freezing and saying that she didnt have enough memory (she only had 10 apps downloaded after a restore) and suddenly the phone restarted and a message saying that encription had failed. since I'm the one who fixes phones at work (from blackberry to iphone) she asked me if I could fix it.
The phone had pretty much like 80% batt left so I did what every mortal with a bit of knowledge would do... READ! I searched and the solution was to flash it with a newer firmware. I got the latest from SAMMOBILE and proceeded... For the record, the phone could get into recovery but recovery was messed up saying that a bunch of files were corrupt. I tried wiping and it showed an error message, so I proceeded to put it in download mode and set ODIN. Everything was going great... phone was detected,.. the process started.. Halfway through Odin FAILED... I restarted the phone and it didnt do anything... (crapping my pants started then...)
I started reading again (remembering the famous SDS on s3) and in different forums said that possibly some s2 came with the sds flaw and that that might have been my case. however, I always try to get more opions...
I tried using a USB JIG (which worked beautifully in other s2's that I have fixed) to no luck... With the battery in, the phone gets warm around the camera, but the usb jig doesnt do a thing...
So, I'm torn in two... My friend says that she thinks that the USB port was not working properly (she forgot to mention that at first) and sometimes it would appear af it nothing was connected and she had to jiggle the conector. I'm taking the phone to a service center tomorrow to check the port, but that is a pricey thing here in Venezuela... My second option is to sell it for spare parts...
Can I hear your opinions? Is it really hard bricked? Is it SDS?
I don't know which firmware it was running, and my friend doesnt know... my best guess is 2.3 since it's the one it came with and she never updated...

Is she hot?
It seems that she was on 4.0.4, so yeah, bricked because of the wipes.

ok... I assume it's bricked... but is it unbrickable?
Kinda...yeah; you'll need a mobo change.

Lol no, if it's because of the emmc brick bug then, maybe if you can still access recovery some repartition techniques might work but still don't get your hopes up, but if you have a faulty port then it will further worsen your situation.
Sent from my GT-P6200 using xda app-developers app
It all points to brick bug, never wipe on 4.0.4 (nor back up/restore).
She can claim warranty, samsung is to blame for this bug
Sent from the little guy
Well.. warranty will not work... the phone is like 2 years old and in our country this doesnt work for impored phones... it was not bought from a carrier.
Huguito's legacy, try an usb jig.
You've got nothing to lose.

I have a USB jig which ha worked with another S2, S3, Note... but it is not working... I think I may have an issue with the USB connector... Any way, will try something tomorrow... and if it doesnt work, will sell it as spare... Thanks all for the comments...
Let me know how much would you like for it, was it made in Korea?

Samsung driver program gives me blue screen?

I've a Note 2, (has been sitting at 4.3 with safe root for quite some time, perfectly happy with it) Wife's S3 took a dump, and until we find a new phone for her which she LIKES (We're still Verizon unlimited, so buying a new phone from THEM is a no-go) We decided to get her another S3
Anyhow, she buys an S3 for $75 from a guy on Craigslist, meets him at Verizon, they check phone (we've done this before) takes phone home. Now it's MY job to get some sort of root access on this 4.4.2 phone, so she can run Titanium backup, etc. After I figure out that towel-whatever is the answer, I plug her phone into my pc to transfer the apk over. I figured getting my pc to see her phone wouldn't be an issue, as the S3 and the Note 2 use the SAME Samsung driver install program....yet it was a BIG pain, finally worked it out, wife happy (WHICH, is the major goal in life for most folks reading this, I'd imagine)
When I later plugged my Note back into the pc, I got no end of "usb device not found" bs. (It's normally plugged into a Belkin powered hub) Tried different usb ports on the hub, tried different ports directly on the pc, same result. UNINSTALLED the Samsung driver program, downloaded new (still the same version) When I fire up the exe to install it, it gets to the very end...blue screen of death. EVERY time. Damndest thing I ever saw. (error had something to do with "not equal", I can run it again, if anyone needs said info)
Thanks
