i dropped my note without a case today. i dropped from about 4ft, it hit the side of my dresser and fell flat on its screen. the back cover and battery also came out. i was i shock and picked it up slowly. the screen did not sustain any damage! but here is the problem..i cant get it to boot into the firmware now. it just hangs on the samsung screen, im freaking out! it charges and everything, it just wont boot past the samsung screen. also wont let me go into CMW, it just continuously vibrates until i let go of the buttons(power, volume up/down) then boots into the samsung screen and sticks there.
please, anyone with any knowlege on how to fix this reply. thanks for reading
FIXED***
the reason it wasn't letting me enter the recovery was that my power button was sticking a bit. i messed around with it abit to loosen it up and retried. it let me enter recovery and i re flashed the rom i was on and rebooted. it STILL was stuck on the samsung screen so i went back to recovery and wiped cache, and did a factory reset, and then rebooted. problem solved .
Did you try using Kies to reset it to stock via Download Mode?
I had my phone in my pocket while using a sand blaster a while back and it must have got some sand in it because the power button stuck for a while. It finally freed up and works fine now. I think its easy to get dirt behind the button.

Hi
So here is what has happened.
Friend went fishing. Friend drops S2 into ocean. Friend dismantled phone and let dry. Friend this dismantled phone completely and clean the board with a ear bud and compressed air. Noticed corrosion on charging unit.
Phone wouldnt charge the battery. So we ordered a new charging unit and replaced it and phone switched on. home button and touch buttons at bottom dont work. and screen laggy as hell. Also can't swipe between home screens as each swipe the phone thinks we are long pressing.
Ordered a new screen. Same problem. So my next question is what to do?
Can't get into download mode to try a custom rom or even reflash stock rom.
...
is there a way to enter download mode without a working home button? just want to see if i can install a custom rom and try use onscreen button like paranoidandroid...

Hello once again audience,
I have a big problem, and this is exactly what happened since 3 days ago...
At about 7 A.M. my brother was brushing his teeth and he sprayed water onto my phone by accident or something, so I thought it was just a little bit of water and just wiped in away. I did not TRY to use my phone until about 10 A.M. when I realized the screen was not working. I pulled out the battery and reinserted it to try to boot it, however I only saw the Samsung SII wordings for a split second before it blacked out.I let it run for awhile and then I realized that the touch key lights are working, and when I tap the center of the lockscreen I feel the vibration where you unlock your phone the little lock symbol. I retried this 5 times before giving up. Then about 5 hours later, I tried it again and this time it booted up nicely! Everything was tip top, except that 1 hour later it blacked out again... So when I reached home, I plugged in the charger when it is switched off and to my surprise I see the charging logo, and I tried to boot it up and it worked. It worked for 2 days. On Sunday, 2 days after the incident, first thing in the morning I wanted to check for whatsapp messages and I realised it blacked out again. This time I had ENOUGH! So I put it in some rice and checked on it every 4 hours. So now, I think it has improved. When it boot up I see the flickering of the Samsung SII wordings as before and then it boots into the ROM fine just black screen with working touch keys and everything else. But now when i turn the screen 'off' and turned it back 'on' using the power buttons I see catch a glimpse of the 4.2.2 lockscreen clock (very dark but clear) for about 1 second and it blacks out, just like when the Samsung SII logo pops up. This has been going on for about a day. What do you all suggest I do? Keep in rice? Keep it charging? Turn it off and try my luck hours later? I really need this back up as soon as possible, and thanks button would be pressed where it is due!
Thank you all for this too long message I really want it to work again!
In rice & don't touch it for a week, but given you've already used it immediately after it got wet, the damage may already be done.

Oke, lets say it's damaged, it's the screen that's damaged only right? hat would be chep to replace, yes?
The screen/digitiser are replaceable (whether you can do it or not depends on how confident/dextrous you are), Google search/eBay will give you an idea of how cheap. Or you could always ask a local mobile repair shop (then you'll obviously pay for labour, but if you're not confident enough to do it yourself...).
Edit - Mr eBay tells me I can get one for just under AUD$107
I would eat the rice, then sell the phone on ebay as "water damaged".
I have the same problem but its not water damage . The phone screen isn't turning on but the sounds and touch keys are working. What should I do? I have pictures on the phone and want to print them or save them but the screen won't turn on. Agh!

If the device powers on normally (except for the screen) and you don't have pattern unlock or other security enabled, it's a simple matter of powering the phone up and connecting to a PC via usb.....
The files should then be accessible via the windows explorer program.....

Hello,
I have a problem with my tablet, I have looked and tried for several days and have not been able to get any real results.
To start with, my tab originally was running really slow. I thought I may have a virus, so I did a factory data reset. Once it tried rebooting, a warning come up that there was a missing file, I didn't have time to write it down. Anyway, it started to reboot, the boot screen comes up "Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1" but that's as far as it gets. That's all it would do till it drains the battery down, can't even turn it off. I pressed the power and volume key to get into the selection screen to boot or download. I have tried several times to reload the recovery.tar.md5 through Odin3, it says everything works fine, doing this finally allows the battery to show up on the screen while it's charging. Now when I boot it it gets past the former screen and does the video sequence that ends with the SAMSUNG in the center of the screen and hangs there. It finally restarts and hangs on the first screen again. I have looked and looked, and can't seem to find what I need. I really need some guidance, please understand I need some help!
Thanks!
Well, after several more attempts I got it to completely boot up! left it on for a few minutes, got it all setup and onto the home screen. This was late last night, so I decided to shut it down (power off) and plug it in. Got up this morning and it is doing it again! Anyone have any thoughts? Could this be a problem with the processor or any other hardware parts?
Not really sure what's going on with your tab, but you can try to flash the full stock ROM from Odin. You can get it from www.sammobile.com.

I appreciate the suggestion, I already went to Samsung and got everything I could from there - updated drivers, But I did not see the ROM. I will take a look tonight when I get back home. Thanks for taking your time to reply!
I went to Samsung people in Best Buy, he pointed me to the Samsung Kies. He seemed to think it was hardware also. How would I tell if it is either? I am leaning towards hardware, because it did let me get in and set-up my accounts etc... then I powered off & the problem has reared it's ugly head when I tried to power it back on.
I replaced screen today but for some reason I am only getting the Galaxy Mega boot screen then it vibrates twice and loops and I have to do a battery pull in order to turn it off. I cant get into recovery it does the same thing but it says recovery in top corner. I tried taking back off and just removing screen ribbon and connecting old screen and it boots right up so I left it on and popped the ribbon cable and reattached the new one and it showed perfectly so I kept powered up and put back together. I messed for it a bit and tried to do a factory reset and bam boot loop again. Any ideas?
Note: this phone isn't rooted or anything.....

Well they say with 4.4 new screens don't work and I have seen youtube videos that do. Thanks for the links....
I let someone sublet me for me. When I got the apartment it was a mess. The whole place wasn't cleaned in weeks and it was a nightmare. (He left the faucets running and flooded the carpets)
I tried to find him but apparently he skipped town.
In his garbage I found an Edge. It was in excellent condition.
Tried to plug it in but the power didn't work. Broken?
I walked down the street and bought a factory plug. It would boot but stuck at 0%
I did some casual Googling and I was able to get into the boot menu (Volume Up, Home, Power). Reboot and got to his lock screen.
Repeated the above step but this time, did a factory reset.
It worked. Set up my account and was in the phone proper. I liked it, but still can't charge past 0% (need to stay plugged in)
Tried to do a factory reset but from the phone's menu this time. I forget the exact wording but error said it couldn't perform the reset and to use Smart Switch
Thought it was odd so I downloaded SuperSU and sure enough, confirmed it was previous rooted.
I assumed this explains the power problem and why I couldn't factory reset.
Waited to get home. Forget the name of Smart Switch so I decided to prompt the error again. However, when I went back to try to factor reset via phones menu, it reset without issue.
Now I am getting: “DM-VERITY VERIFICATION FAILED” ERROR
(thedroidguy.com)I looked into it and apparently I'm soft bricked.
I have the phone plugged into my computer now and got into Download mode (Volume Down, Home, Power).
It flashes for a second and my computer acknowledges that something is plugged in. Smart Switch says I'm using an Unsupported Device.
If I plug directly into power I can get to the download screen and hit up but have nothing happens.
Please help. I am staying in a hoste. I am wet, cold, and want to fix this problem to sell this phone and make my hard earned money back!
Any help can be great!
I found a youtube video by Rootjunky.com (/YJi_w5c0KyE) but I can't figure out what the firmware is since I"m in a boot loop. Worried about picking the wrong one..
