[Q] root problem.. - HTC Desire X

rooted my dx, but whenever I try to push something in system/app, it won't survive reboot, is it because of s-on, if yes, is there any chance of getting s-off for our device?
also things like mount system etc are useless because after every reboot system restores itself..

What do you want to push?
What ROM are you on?
Flash TWRP with ADB fixed version. Reboot to recovery. The recovery uses ics kernel with write protection off. push your required apps. (Set permissions as required) and reboot.

I want to push ViPER4Android & I am on stock jelly bean.
I am using official TWRP recovery, is it different than ADB fixed one?

Could be. I make releases regularly, but official from goomanager isn't working for jelly bean

install amon ra recovery through adb or cleanflash 1.0
then go to recovery and click developer menu then click
install su & superuser (2nd) then reboot and you are done
didnt work, still not rooted but i have the superuser app.
I had the same issue as you. Download the zip on post number 1036. Flash it in recovery. Reboot your system and I think you need to download super user from the market.. open the fileand you should be rooted

[Q] What ROM was installed?

The ROM on my old phone crapped out and i ended up getting a new phone because i had an upgrade.
Well i need info off of it, but can't remember what ROM i had flashed last.
It's a choice of 2-3 different roms.
So i was wondering if there's a way to tell from bootloader or recovery what rom i had on there so i can wipe cache/dalvick and then dirty flash the rom back over it to try to retrieve my data.

Could you be a little more specific about how your old phone "crapped out" and how you intend to use it to recover your data if it's not working? Why do you think a dirty flash is going to work if the current ROM isn't booting?
Assuming you can get into recovery you could flash Aroma File Manager and use it to navigate to the /system directory, then copy build.prop to the SD card so you can view it from a PC and that should tell you what ROM was installed. Since most custom recoveries support ADB you could also use that to pull build.prop to a PC but unless you are familiar with using ADB I think the AFM method is easier.

[Q] HOX+ International STUCK after Cm10.1 by Lloir

Hi All!
I have an HTC One X+, International. I have decided to try and "play" with it and so I have Unlocked and Rooted and then tried Installing a Custom Rom, based on those instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2213910
Unlock and Root went well, and so installing TWRP (its present).
Then I got here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2067325
After trying to install the ROM (first image then zip - followed the instructions), the device is booting with the CM logo spinning, but then it gives out an "Unfortunately, NFC Service has stopped " error...
Please help!
I tried to go back to the original restore via TWRP - no luck. The HTC screen appears and then stuck in it.

Try and flash another ROM & Image. It appears the ROM might not have been downloaded properly.
BTW what happened after it gave the NFC error? Did you complete the rest of the process and simply restarted the device?
flash the CORRECT kernel! read the op!!!!!!! why do you people not read?! seriously!
full wipe the rom before flashing CM on top of whatever you had before!
the rom works correct! the problem is you
Cant flash another rom

I cant get a new rom to the device - the computer stopped recognizing it and I have no idea how to get a file on it (maybe somehow via the terminal/SDK.bat?).
After it gives the NFC error, there is an "OK' button. I hit it a few times and nothing happens. Then the screen goes off and I cant turn it back on, unless I use the power button/volume down...
I did though tried a different image... same result.

I am assuming you have latest ADB tools installed in your system.
You can use ADB sideload to copy ROM in the phone
When you are pressing the powerbutton + vol down - I hope you are getting to boot loader?

Hi Lloir!
I much appreciate the personnel response and the time you took to reply to me.
Before I had the original HOX+ rom+sense and I believe I DID a full wipe
I flashed the kernel from your post. I believe that my lack of knowledge lead me to download the wrong one (?) boot-BLADE-42-201305062233
Would you be so kind and please guide me to the correct steps? I have spent several hours allready trying to fix this issue.
Once again, your (and everyone else`s) help is MUCH appreciated!

sorry for my ranty response: anyway
the kernel you need is boot-BLADE-CM10.1-whateverdatehere
not the 42 kernels, those are for AOSP\PA\AOKP
soon this won't be an issue

This was FAST answer!
I see my mistake (reading comprehension) :
CM10 - for 4.1 based roms e.g. CM10 and AOKP 4.1.2
CM10.1 - ONLY for CM10.1
42 - 4.2 based roms e.g. AOKP 4.2.1 and AOSP 4.2.1
I thought that your ROM is based on the 4.2 (?)
Downloading the Kernel now.
By the way, when and how do I add the gapps?
flash kernel
flash rom
after rom flash the gapps

Thank you. I already flashed kernel and rom. Phone booted up and seem to work. A few issues:
1) I did not put the gapps zip on the phone before the process.
2) Though the phone appears as a drive in Windows, I can not copy any file to it.
3) Camera says NO SD Card and exits....
Thank you for your help!

Thank you! What do I do AFTER I get the gapps.zip to the phone? what do I do with the TWRP?
Is this what I should do to get the zip to the phone:
Set the device into ADB sideload mode. In TWRP you do this by going to Advanced then ADB Sideload.
From the command line, type adb sideload /path/to/rom.zip

Did you create the '0' folder before flashing the ROM?
If not - would suggest you to load some other ROM...
Also, check the Lloir''s thread...

How to Root Android 4.3

I installed android 4.3 ROM on this phone but it seems that it is not rooted anymore!
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to root. I clicked on the link in the AOSP thread, but my phone says it cannot open the CWM / TWRP / MobileODIN installable ZIP. Do I need a special app to open it?
Can I root it the same way I rooted my phone when it was on 4.12 or 4.22?

For root with AOSP you need to flash SuperSu zip in recovery. For CM 10.2 you have to enable develiper options then select root for apps and ADB.

Thanks that clears a lot up. But I'm having trouble getting back to recovery. If I hold the volume buttons down I get this screen basically, but without the android guy https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/...VnEj5TCCm2wPaOV1fHZQa85RAmp-imzhEYbA26zTot177
If I press volume up or down it doesn't change out of fastboot. Am I missing something? I had TWRP installed and used it to flash my other ROMS but I'm having difficulty getting to it because I used to just be able to reboot directly into recovery using one of my root apps.
EDIT: Got it, just took some tinkering on the reboot. Thanks for your help!

On stock bootloader the banner across the top that says start in the picture you posted will not be there. For reference vloume up and power to get to fastboot screen then either volume up twice then power, or volume down twice then power will take you to recovery.

Did I break my phone trying to unroot it?

I have a Sony Xperia Z2 with Existenz mod; and I would really like to access my apps in-phone again if possible, and then deroot and reformat. I tried to do this by deleting the "su" folder through recovery; now my phone is stuck on the boot logo and gets hot and reboots to the logo. I can load the recovery just fine.
How can I fix the situation to get access to my apps firstly?

Okay, since I did stop using ROMs and root I don't know if you can fix this without wiping your data such as photos or downloaded apps
But I can tell you how to fix it
1. You need to download flash tool
2. Download your favorite stock firmware (lollipop or kitkat)
3. Install flashtool and drivers (you can find them in drivers folder inside flash tool folder)
4. Happy flashing
If you need help on how to flash you can PM me

Try to flash supersu trough recovery. Download the flashable zip from chainfire directly and flash it. It should boot if you deleted only that folder.
thank you! I will definitely try that, lets see if this works. I will want to remove the root and factory reset back to default afterwards, the wipe did not seem to remove the mod the last time, any word on how to do that? Thanks either way!

Existenz is a full rom not a mod so it wont get wiped after a factory reset. You will need to flash an ftf (stock firmware) trough flashtool in order to restore your device to factory state. You dont need to check "wipe data" to keep your apps and data but restore all stock aystem files. And if then your phine doesn't boot, flash the ftf again with wipe data checked.
