Hey guys,
My Galaxy s3 is pretty much useless at the moment. I had it rooted a while back and decided to unroot it. I used Odin and the stock rom for telus galaxy s3 sgh-i747m. Odin did its job and showed it was done successfully, however the phone never booted back up even with holding the combo buttons (VolumeUp+home+power). Also my computer cannot detect the phone driver via usb cable showing QHSUSB_DLOAD, but it does make a beeping sound when connecting it or holding the combo keys while it's plugged in via usb cable.
I used a usb jig hoping it would get it to boot into download mode but no luck. I can take it for a JTAG and get it fixed, but since I screwed up I rather spend some more time and learn to fix it myself. A friend mentioned about QPST in order to get it to download mode and using a similar stock rom reprogram the phone, which I'm not familiar with.. anyone can give me a hint how to go bout this your help is much appreciated
If you need more info or i missed something please let me know...

So I just received a replacement phone because I bricked my previous one and I think I may have bricked this one as well (because I'm an idiot).
I can't get anything to show up on my screen except the screen that has a phone a yellow triangle with a ! and a computer. They're little icons lined up in the middle of the screen when I try to turn it on.
How this happened:
I upgraded my stock phone to Froyo using Kies and then I tried to flash the KA6+Voodoo firmware that I found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870480 using Heimdall on my mac.
I had put the phone into download mode, selected the zImage and clicked start and it just sat there for a little bit before it said "Failed to receive device info response!"
I didn't know what to do after that so I just tried to restart the phone and I ended up with that error screen that I'm becoming more familiar with than I would like to be...
If anybody can help save my phone I would really appreciate it.
You just need to go through the normal odin steps to go back to stock.
The instructions on how to odin are in this forum.. I'm kinda lazy this morning sorry.
Odin isn't recognizing my phone right now and Windows is saying that it's detecting a "gadget serial" device but can't successfully install drivers for it. Based on some advice I found elsewhere, I'm installing Samsung PC Studio which should contain the drivers for the "gadget serial" device.
Hopefully Odin will work then...
also try a different cable. I know that if I use certain cables odin will not work. I have to use the cable that came with my phone.
Google Galaxy s USB drivers and install those.
And your phone is only bricked if nothing ever comes on. So your still golden. Just use the volume button download mode method and odin to stock.
IT'S WORKING. THank you!
The only problem now is that it's not recognizing my sim card...

Turn off the phone and pull out the sim card. Reinsert the sim card and reboot the phone. It should be recognized.
I just tried that a couple times and it's still not recognizing it.

OMG PANIC! Insert another sim and see if that works. If so, pull the battery for a minute and try again with your sim. If that doesn't work call T-Mo and confess that you broke it.

I'm trying to restore my phone to factory settings using (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475) but once again I've gotten the phone ! computer error. However, this time when I plug the phone into the computer to try to use Odin, it's no longer recognizing that a USB device has been plugged in.
I've been trying different combinations of battery pulls, plugging it in after the phone is on, plugging it in before it's on, etc. and nothing is working.
EDIT: Nevermind, I got it. Ignore me... it case it wasn't clear already, I'm a n00b and have no idea what I'm doing.

okay i think i may have finally bricked a Vibrant.
Heres what happened.
I recieved my warranty replacement from Tmobile, my original Vibrant had headjack issues...
I rooted the phone, installed Projet V and all was good.. i then noticed none of my photos and music was being recognized.. i thought maybe it was a bad flassh, reflashed and same issue.. i then moved some songs to my external and it played.. so i thought lets start from scratch.
So i started ODIN and my p wouldnt recognize phone in Download mode...battery pulled and now i have the phone to pc symbols.. all is good still cuz this has happened before and ODIN will recognize my phone..this time it was NOT the czse =(..
I have tried different USB ports
Uninstalled both ODIN and Samsung Drivers
tried a different PC
tried a brand new USB from Tmobile
PCs WILL not recognize phone...
Any other suggestions..... ive read tons of threads and all say to do the different ports n crap but its not my lucky day i guess... if i cant fiix it im just sending it back to Tmobile and asking for another one..
i got the 'phone ! pc screen' on mine yest, just keep trying
took me like 2 hours to get it to connect, i tried all 4 usb ports on my laptop like 10 times each then it decided to work
yah odin and pcs are finicky that way, keep trying!
power off phone
pull out battery
turn on odin
attach phone to pc with usb cable
now while holding down both volume buttons put battery back in.
now you should be in download mode and go back to stock with odin from here!
make sure u put the proper .pit and .pda file in there proper places on odin and ur set to go.
Enjoy and also make sure u have the proper samsung drivers
mine doesnt go to download by having it plugged in and pushing battery in, battery has to be in with mine then plug usb in
so try both ways
thanks to everyone.... i guess i'll keep trying. If not i'll send it back to Tmobile n get another replacement =/
also i think its the phone =( tried to use ODIN on my original Vibrant and sure nuff it can see it.. Oh well back to Tmobile...
Mods u can close this thread =)
Eureka!!!!!!!
heres the steps I took, keep in mind i went to Best Buy and bought a BB USB cable and it worked..... still sending the phone back tho, i should have another one by tomorrow =)
Pull the battery out
plug the phone into the usb
open odin
pick the tar file of whatever you're trying to flash
hold the up and down volume buttons
now put the battery back in
phone will boot into download mode
odin should pick it up, click start button in odin to flash
done
I was trying to flash from cyanogen back to stock as I kind of need 911 to work. Purchased a usb jig to get into download as it normally wouldn't work with keypress combos. Odin failed partially through and now I get device not recognized when I plug in the phone. I've tried:
1. multiple pc's
2. many different cables
3. all different usb ports
4. just about every driver pack I can find from adk to different samsung variants including nexus drivers.
5. kies mini drivers as well.
As of right now I'm stuck and hoping I didn't brick the unbrickable phone. I gather it's possible it's a defective usb port but I'm hoping for some other alternatives. I'm rocking my g1 as a replacement and it's just not the same
Is ANYTHING at all visible on the screen?
When you press the power button, does anything pop up?
If not, I think you may be bricked and only way to solve would be a JTAG since you've already tried JIG.
You've pretty much tried everything everyone here would recommend except a JTAG. I'll try and search but i think theres either a website or a thread around here with a list of people's contacts and maybe you can go to them if their near, or mail them your phone to JTAG?
If you power on nothing comes up. The jig will get me a download mode screen. I've got the handset replacement with tmo.. Think i can sneak by?
Hey guys just wanted to say thanks for all the help you provide on a daily basis, for all the people trying to unlock the potential in their phones. However with that being said I might have tried too hard and messed up my phones. I have a Samsung Vibrant SGH-T595 with 2.1 (update 1) updated officially by Samsung.
I rooted the phone, used clock work recovery mod and then downloaded and installed cyanogenmod 7.1 RC. However in the end I did not like so I tried to go back using my backed up copy created by clockwork mod. Doing this has now what you would call "soft bricked" my phone.
The phone is currently stuck on the Samsung boot screen when trying to power on the device. I am unable to put it into download mode via the three button setup, but I bought a USB jig and it sets it into download mode.
Everything seems great at this point but the Odin program is unable to recognize my phone. I have downloaded the official Samsung Kies, and 64 bit drivers as well for my windows 7 system but it is unable to detect my phone. I believe it maybe a defective USB issue with this phone but not sure since it can be charged through USB but I can't remember the last time I was able to connect it to the PC and transfer files via the USB cable.
My question is what else can I do other then sell it for scrap?
Try another USB cable and different ports. It will recognize it eventually.
As you have a windows 7 x64 bit version i guess Odin may need to be opened by giving Administrator permissions.
Try right clicking odin and click Run as administrator. I guess this should work.
Ran into this issue last night with my wife's Nook Color and moving some file and driver issues. Guess what? It was a bad cord. Actually used my Vibrant cord and it was instantly recognized. Yes sometimes it IS actually THAT simple.
I also suggest you go to the Dev section and download the AIO Toolbox (links are live again and don't forget the .Net files too). Uninstall the drivers you have installed and run to toolbox. It has all the correct drivers, pit/tar files and Odin. It is an invaluable tool.
Sidenote: Kies is notorious for hardbricking devices. You should stay away from it altogether.

Exactly. And that is how i tried updating my vibrant to froyo and ended up hard bricking it..
Yeah like someone in here said, download aio vibrant toolkit.. its a surefire way to know your drivers are good and right.. once youve ruled them out, try a diff usb port and cable (mentioned above as well). If nothing works, then you may begin to entertain the idea that your phone is in difficult position.
Probably not hardbricked tho, vibrants are very resilient; just keep trying.
Then ttheres jtag and unbrickable mod if youre absolutely sure lifes over
Sent from a cell tower to the XDA server to you.
Thanks guys I ended up recycling my phones cause nothing I did worked. I did try AIO toolbox got the drivers, tried different cables. My SG II is able to be recognized by odin 1.85 with no issues but not my vibrant. I believe it is an issue with the vibrant's usb port. I originally rooted it by doing the update.zip fix from its external sd card, did not use my usb cable at that time. My other vibrant is completely hard bricked since it wont power on with two different fully charged batteries. Anyway thanks again and next time I will research more before modding my phones.
Hey OP,
I did the same exact thing as you and soft bricked it in the same manner. Then when I tried to get Odin to recognize the phone it wouldn't with my Samsung cable. I thought I was out of luck but I went and bought a USB cable made my Belkin from Meijer and Odin recognized it! I looked at the Samsung cable and the Belkin cable and the black plastic inside the microUSB in the Belkin is thicker than the Samsung. I think that helps create a tighter contact between phone microUSB and the cable. I thought I was screwed like you and I fixed the issue with a new cable!! That simple
I used the Samsung Galaxy S II usb cable which looks like it has a very tight connection with the contacts like you said. Thanks anyway I will try that brand of cable, if I ever run into that issue.
Hi , guy's , i cant find any other solutions on the net. i have an s6 edge that can't be recognized by the pc or mac, i tried everything all drivers, smart switch , kies, different pc's and mac, different cables, debugging mode on and off , but nothing worked, i even changed the entire USB-dock of the phone thinking it was faulty by a new one but its the same thing ( not recognized ) and by the way the phone can't " rapid-charge " both on the old and new usb-dock's , I tried the same aukey fast charging adapter on another s6 and it worked , my last hope now is the battery i know it may sound a little bit ridiculous but the phone has been exposed too much to hot sun the last summer so the battery inflated and pushed the back cover of my s6 edge , i thought maybe somehow it's because of this incident that the phone is not recognized by the pc , and that it couldn't get the "rapid-charging "
( note : that i had never connected the phone to a pc or had a rapid-charging adapter before the battery incident, so i couldn't know if the phone worked on the pc or could rapid-charge before or not "when the battery was ok ") .
am going to replace it ( the battery )in 3 days from the posting date of this thread and see what happens but please if you have a solution just let me now as soon as possible
Thank you very much ! .
In what condition is your phone? Does it work? Or is it dead or half dead?
Samsung Kies doesn't work anymore for S6 and S6 Edge!
S6 and s6 Edge = Smart Switch.
Enable smart switch on your device first before plugging it into a computer..
By the way, why do you even want to use Smart Switch or Kies or whatever?
What is your issue?
Btw, if you knew that your battery was inflated? Then why did you replaced the USB port instead of the battery?
The USB port should be long lasting for aslong as you haven't spilled anything on it or damaged it in one way or another, you couldn't damage the USB port unknowingly..
Hi, first of all thank you for your answer.
So my phone is in perfect condition and work great exept for the problem that i had mentionned above , i didn't know that kies does not work anymore, and i didn't know that i must enable smart switch on my phone first, i just knew that you can install it on pc (so it can install the samsung drivers) then you plug your device, my issue is that my phone get detected but does not get recognized by the pc like i mentionned above i did not know that the battery was inflated only after when i opened the phone to change the usb dock that i though was faulty because the phone did not want to sync with any pc . By the way i did change the battery by a new one today but the phone still wont sync and it still refuse to fast charge, i tried everything i don't know what to do anymore.
Thank you.
1st thing you must do to get the device to be detected by your computer, and so that you could get into your phone files through my computer is to download the drivers, they come with samsung kies, so you probably already have them installed.
2. Go into your computer task manager and make sure that Kies and Smart Switch are NOT RUNNING.
3. Go download official Odin 3.10.6 on this very website (XDA).
4. Run Odin as Administrator.
5. Put your device into download mode (push volume down, home and power button at the same time.)
6. Connect your device to your computer.
If Odin detected the phone and the tab turns blue? Which it should undoubtedly! UNLESS you haven't installed the drivers or your device isn't in Download mode.
7. Disconnect your device and AGAIN (push volume down, home and power button at the same time to get out of download mode.)
8. Restart your device as usual, let it boot up. In the meanwhile close Odin!
9. Do not open any Samsung program on your computer, once your device is rebooted, connect it to your computer as usual.
10. Go to "my computer" and look if you can see your device. (which should be the case)
Watch this video to enable Smart Switch on your device;
https://youtu.be/gebkpr6pMXs
You have changed the battery and dock, so this might be an uncommon software issue. So you probably want to flash your device so that you could get your fast charger to work again?
Don't become too desperate for such a minor issue, it's better to be safe than sorry.
Is your device rooted? If so you have probably already tripped Knox. In that case you would be better off using Odin to flash your device back to stock.
Note: Smart Switch doesn't flash the same rom unto your device, it might flash a rom of a different country.
(keeping in mind that i've read somewhere that Smart Switch might even trip Knox while flashing a device)
Everything is at your own risk, just as all of us.
Let us know how it goes.

I guess that your problem is solved.
For ANYONE who reads this;
When YOU get help on XDA or anywhere else and your problem is solved thanks to the help given, you MUST LEAVE A POST ON THE PAGE FOR OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM TO SEE!
DONT BE SELFISH!
Because many people might have the same problem, and many HELPFUL PEOPLE on XDA have stopped helping YOU simply because most of you are selfish and unthankful!
IF A TOPIC ISN'T CLOSED, PEOPLE WILL START NEW TOPICS WITH THE SAME QUESTIONS AND HELPFUL PEOPLE LIKE ME WILL FALL INTO REPETITION WHICH WON'T LAST VERY LONG!!
You people should remember, that you will UNDOUBTEDLY need help in the future and you won't get any help, and karma will make sure of that.
(too deen too daan!)

am sorry for the late answer but i was on a work trip and i left my s6 at home , just got home tonight , am gonna try this tomorrow and let you informed , thank you for your help
