Thickness backside - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello people!
Can you please help me.
I have noticed a strange thickness on the backside on my Z tablet.
Let say when you turn tablet landscape this thickness is noticable on the bottom on back side it like a battery or something else.
It is flat all the way but there is a noticable "thickness" on the back bottom side in landscape, so called "small mountain".
Can you please tell me should the back side be all the way flat or there should be some "thickness", "mountain".
I hope you understood me.
Didn't know how to explain this other than metaforically.
If you did not understand me, I'll explain more carefully.
Thx in advance.

I got a WiFi version 16gb and mine is perfectly flat. No bumps, no changes in thickness at all... maybe you should report it to Sony ASAP if you still have a warranty on it.

The word I was looking was bumps
I have bought my tablet few days ago so I'll report this tomorrow, Monday.
Thanks for fast response.

mine is 16G WIFI version and we have same problem. we'll be going to SONY soon since the store where i bought my tab Z has a non-pro service.

Mine is currently at Sony's.
Will keep you inform about this situation.

I also have a SGP311 and noticed the same thing. There is a very slight bump and when you press it, it moves somewhere else. Much like when your carpet is too large for a room. By "moving" this bump around, you can hear there is something sticky beneath it.
I assume this is a manufacturing defect. I noticed it on day 1 I got my tablet but did not RMA it just yet. Please do inform us what will Sony say about this. If they will replace your tablet, I will go and RMA it too. And if they don't... I will go and RMA it the same, just so they have more reports that this is unacceptable on a 500,- € device.

[Q] Strange screen problem

Hello everyone!
I'm new here, and don't normally post on forums about technical issues (too nervous!) but something very odd came up on my Galaxy s2 today and my google-fu has failed me so far in finding anything similar.
I got it at the beginning of September this year, keep it in one of those leather wallet cases to protect it (and a screen protector), and during the day it mainly just sits on my desk at work. For some reason however, today, this just appeared (see attachments).
It's a small, lilac-purple smudge in the lower right hand corner. It doesn't move when the screen moves, and the touchscreen still works just fine. You can also still see images below it, it just tints them purple. It's less visible when the screen is brighter, but still kind of there.
I have turned it off an on again, turned it off and removed the battery, and left it off for a while to cool down. It was still there when I turned the phone back on.
As far as I know there is no water damage, and I don't believe it has been in contact with any magnets (apart from the mini one that clasps the case shut). I'm completely baffled! Is it a defect, or something I've somehow managed to cause? I've tried to be very careful, as I know what a klutz I am! The phone is also not rooted or hacked in any way.
If anyone has any thoughts or advice, I would greatly appreciate it!
Thank you very much
I think is magnet
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I wondered the same thing, but I left it on a table next to my bed overnight and it seems to have gotten worse - the purple has spread further on to the screen.

to which is why never used a case with magnet.
OP:
It will get progressively worse even if magnet is no where near now.
The purple tint on the entire screen is definitely a defect... get it changed from the Samsung Service Centre! Even I had this problem and my phone atm is at the Service Centre...
There are lot of quality control issues with the SGS2 display...
Never a Samsung again!

Nexus 10 back loose/ creaky?

Hi guys,
My Nexus 10's back, on the left side when facing the screen, has a slight creak to it when pressed. Does anybody else's have this (it can be slightly hard to find at first)? I'm curious, as I'm not sure if there is a DIY way to fix it, and whether or not it is a common occurrence.
I get a click or two from the removable strip but I assume that is just it moving in its seating. Very minor and not a problem. I ignore it.
Yeah, I have that, too. Nothing seems to indicate that the cover is loose somehow, though. Seems to me that it's just the rubber. I wouldn't worry about it. Of course, I wouldn't go choking it there, either.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using XDA Premium HD app
I too get a "Crack Sound" or creak when I grab my tablet from the left side.
Mine is same although my removable strip actually has a probg yhat won't go it so it juts out... Very annoying but I have a case.
So, besides the creaking sound (which doesn't bother me too much), my back actually has two "bubbles" where the back material meets the dimpled strip, and when you look at the tablet top-down, you can actually see the two gaps where the rubbery material is lifted up higher than the dimpled strip. The "bubbles" are basically directly above the "N" and "S"...
I'm assuming this isn't normal and should probably go get an exchange at the store, right?
Sent from my Nexus 10 using xda premium
My left rear has a little more give than the right. Otherwise, the build is clean and sturdy. Did hear a noise once when i was gripping it at a funny angle. Of course if I grip my Vivid wrong the rear plate falls off and the battery even drops out at times. Overall I am very happy with the construction of my nexus10.
like this?

I got my N10 yesterday and I found two problems.
1. The back is really loos. If I press in the middle of the back cover it wobbles and make click sound.
2. There is some light bleeding at the bottom right corner of the screen.
Are these things normal? Or should I exchange it.

The back is fine. As far as light bleed, it's a common problem. How bad it is depends on how much it bothers you.

I got exchange.
i get some slight play in the back but compared to the note 10.1, this thing is build like a rock
I received my Nexus 10 at the end of January and have just ordered a replacement...
The creaking and cracking from both sides of the back (directly behind the speakers) is horrendous when I gently squeeze the nexus, for example to lift it - I can usually just ignore these little things, but this is just too bad!
I have a Galaxy Nexus and I love it...the build quality is superb and the fact the Nexus 10 isn't up to the same standard is disappointing.
I will upload a YouTube video to demonstrate it...as I've not seen or heard anyone having creaking this bad...
When I receive my replacement, I'll update this topic. The only saving grace was the Google RMA process was flawless IMO.
CASES
I used to get it too but i figured out a way to fix it. Wanna know how? lol Get a nice smart case by Poetic or another brand you prefer. I know theres a thread designated for all the accessories for nexus 10.

Problems with Xperia z2

So far I have see those problems and those make me think twice before buy it.
1- getting too hot easily. Not only when recording 4k videos some users find it getting too hot while browsing Internet. That's not acceptable. I don't want it to be blown off in my hand.
2- screen is dim. I thought that's since I watch the videos on YouTube. Other phones such as samsung s5 and HTC One m8 has got a lot brighter screen. If it is sunny you can see your phone screen that's not good for people especially in hot countries.
3- gap issues. I don't know if this is a big issue but still shouldn't be like that.
4- speakers. So people are happy some people are not. Some people are having issue with income calls they say it's not loud enough and only one speaker works.
Those are so far I can remember/told by people here. Maybe that's why it's been delayed for release who knows.
Do you guys have any other issues with the phone? Please let us know £550 for pay as you go phone is a lot of money I don't wanna regret after I buy it.

1..... All phones these days get warm when in use, id be more concerned if it wasnt heating up, as for the 4k recording it doesnt bother me too much, its not a feature ill be using anytime soon and im assuming the related software can be fine tuned and updated by sony so it doesnt strain the processor as much
2......Im in great britain so not the sunniest place but weather was quite bright over easter weekend and i had no issues seeing the screen outside
3......As long as its not affecting the water resistance, who cares. If in doubt either treat it like any other phone near water or get it tested by sony
4......Speakers im 50/50 on.... the sound is crisp and clear, just not as loud as other phones. The sound is supposed to be mono on an incoming call, it also cuts to one speaker on my blutooth speakers and on my galaxy if i have headphones in and recieve a call the right earphone cuts out

You don't care about gaps?

yep id definately be concerned if it didnt heat up while im using it, just about every electrical item i own heats up when in use, if it doesnt then its probably not working properly.......
I dont mind gaps...... as long as they dont affect the waterproofing, my z2 appears to have a couple of (extremely small, less than 1mm) gaps, but im not about hide it away in shame or demand an exchange for a cosmetically perfect handset.......... unless of course they cause the phone to die a watery death, but i doubt that
and finally i'll stick with my overall opinion of the speakers, but as for the one speaker dropping out ignore anything i said, i was mistaking what you was on about with something else.... my bad lol
I have just received my z2 this morning - opened the box and found the phones back glass panel is raised above the edge of the phone in one corner by 1mm or so.. from the Power button to the bottom corner.
It spoils the whole feel of the phone as its easy to catch the glass.. I imagine its going to get damaged quickly
So I now have to contact company I got it from to arrange a swap, or send it off to Sony.. probably at my own expense.
Premium phone and price with not so premium build quality.. This should never have passed Quality Control.

give it back to place you bought. do not give a single penny for returning it. its not your fault and it is not supposed to come out from your pocket. do not get it fixed get a brand new one.
faulty phones make me think again why the z2 is postponed so many weeks ahead. there is definitely something wrong with this phone in one point. overheating, out of shape design, gaps on the top of the device, speakers etc.

Do you think they would have solved all these problems by the start of May (which is when most people get their phone)? If not then all these delays would have been a complete waste of time...

Start of may is not guaranteed for release. Some companies giving date for 24th of may. Hope everybody will be happy at the end of the day but Sony is not doing well so far. Postpone is a really bad start and faulty phones comes up after waiting months or weeks is more disappointing. If you are not ready for launch do not announce your phone.

Oh man there are a lot more problems than I thought. People complaning to Sony directly instead of telling people here . I think Im right with my opinion never buy a newly released phone there are always problems at some point. Wait a month or so and get them after. My wife bought newly s4 when it was out the phone was getting far too hot she was scared to use it cos it might blow off on her hand. we complained and got a brand new one which is okay. All my old iphones were the same some had sound problem some had glass problem.
It seems that Sony were in so much of a rush to assemble the phones to get them 'out there' that quality control suffered big time.
Am gonna make sure that mine is perfect before keeping it even if it means returning it time after time.
Am hoping all of these build issues are solved when its officially released in May

So this gap issue?

Hi All,
Got mine today after a long battle with the M8 and its many problems. . .
I have noticed mine has a gap in the top right like many others have but has anyone been in for a waterproof test yet?
In all honestly i'm just curious to know rather then it being a problem for me as I dont have the desire to be dipping into water or swim with it.
It doesnt bother me although I know its not nice having it there but again it doesnt look as bad as the way the original HTC One had gaps open round the metal.
So yep anyone concerned or even taken it to a Sony centre?
Cheers
Mine doesn't have any gap. Well not that I can see. I will not risking trying to dip in in water. Even though it is supposed to be waterproof I am not sure they will cover it.

yeah i dont have the desire as I say to be dipping into water . .its seems more ppl have the gap then others . ..
coming from the M8 with multiple scuffs and marks on the metal out the box its really pleasing that its just a gap i have as it doesnt look bad but still the waterproof protection and dust may still be affected by this.
plus I plan to put a case on mine in the end so the gap will be covered up anyway . .I know I shudnt ave to cover it but Im never gonna be carrying a glass phone naked!
Where did you order yours? Maybe you can get it exchanged and hope to get one of the newer batches?
It was phone's 4 u in UK so not the best place to get phone's in my experience so far.. I have been advised to go into store so staff can have a look...

Has it ever been proven that the 'gap' is actually a problem? People seem to get them replaced without ever testing, could be all for nothing?

I believe due to the scarcity of Sony stores in certain areas that people just decide to not bother testing and just sent it back.
Don't know if this is related but anyone who has the gap issue, is the camera lens slightly off centre too? Mine is (although it doesn't affect the camera quality).
I'm not sure what I should do because I've only recently realised I have the very minute gap at the top right but I got my phone on the 22nd of April through mobiles.co.uk so I wonder if I can simply go to a carphone warehouse shop to discuss it or if I have to do it through mobile.co.uk.

But i don't think this small gap become cause of water damage!
i mean this gap is in surface of phone and it s not like hole that connect outside to inside of phone!
so it s just ugly...

I have the gap issue, there is a slight gap on the front top right & a more noticeable one on the front bottom left, I didn't spot it at first but a mate that was admiring the phone did as he spotted a small bit of tobacco trapped between the gap & the bezel.

Uneven/Unbalanced Bezels on my new Xperia Z2

Help, please. I bought a Sony Xperia Z2 yesterday. But today I just noticed that the bezels (left side, and right side) are not even. They are not balanced. The difference is very small, measuring only around 0.05 cm. It's almost unnoticeable, but what's seen cannot be unseen. Please, help. Any one experienced this as well or something? Should I ask for a replacement? PLUS. When it's brand new, it should come with preloaded stuff, right? Like, The Amazing Spiderman 2 trailer (My brother bought one months ago and I saw it), and some scenery pictures from Sony. But this one didn't. It seems like it went through a factory reset (plus 'Erase SD contents') before it was given to me. PLEASE HELP ASAP.

And, no. They aren't the same. I even used a ruler. There's a 0.05 cm difference.. I don't think this is normal. This doesn't look like OmniBALANCE to me..

Ive replaced the screen on my z2 a few times now, my suggestion would be warm up the sika-flex seal (adhesive behind the screen that holds it in) by using a hairdryer down the edges of the screen and phone then get 2 suction cups and twist it till its straight and let the seal cool down, itll retain waterproofness too.
My battery panel broke while I was doing my last screen replacment so I did this haha. Just dont jam anything down the side of the like a blade or something to set it or the screen WILL crack(experience)

I can see the difference too (However, after taking a better look, it looks like the screen protector is giving such a visual experience). You may try to exchange it to a new one, but idk if it will work.
And about the apps, it depends on branding, so it's not sony dependant.
