Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post this, but has anyone managed to extract the apk for the new Android version of Microsoft Office? They have as usual released it only in the US
Thanks in advance!
Anyone?
Is there really no interest for this? I understand that it also requires an Office 365 subscription, but I would have thought someone on the www would have deemed it worthy to extract.

Of course there's interest, but rather than bleat some of us search. Ever heard of google? It took me less than 5 minutes to locate, download and install the APK.
It works fine so google for "microsoft office android apk" and see what you can find
And the "douchebag of the year" award goes to...Bulbous! Let's all give him a big hand...
You think I didn't search? Did you see WHEN I made my first post? There was nothing available outside the Play Store on August 1st, even though it's pretty trivial for anyone living in a supported country to extract the apk.
Second of all, have you seen WHERE this apk is now available? Crappy sites that often mention that it's "cracked" or "full version" or some other such nonsense. How can I trust a site that could have inserted anything it wanted to in that apk?? Do you get ROMs from "The Dubai Emporium of Sheep Guts and Android" or do you come to XDA?
All over this site there are countless examples of people who asked for geographically restricted apps and got them, without all the crap you seem intent to give me. Also, as you can see I didn't post the second and third time until several days had passed in between, so any bleating is done strictly by you on your sheep farm, mofo.

You don't want me to post the link then?
After my OP I also found links on external sites, but none that seemed trustworthy...it would have been nice if a member of the community here would have extracted an apk for anyone who would have wanted it, as has been done many times in the past for other apps.
In any case, they did say they will expand it to 120+ countries in the future, so if no one steps up I'll just wait for "the future".

Oh, please, give me a break... We're doing our best to create a fun experience for everyone. And besides, what hidden about the policy of removing warez trading?

This is not acceptable at all.... Xchange man those ppl are receiving us as their guests and why pay them back by insulting them??? 2 days ago this site or this forum has reached its 500 user and all of them are considering themselves as one family sharing and learning and teaching. Please reconsider your attitude as we all are here friends and one happy XDA, o2, QTEK, SX56 (forgot any?) Family...
Thanks for the ppl behind this site thanks for the members in this great forum God bless us all.

I have to agree with XDA developer Peter Poelman
come on xcahnge - $14 is not a lot for software... that is damned useful...
and entertaining, and intuitive. Instead of moaning why not just develop your own version of the software and distribute it as freeware?
I mean if it cost several hundred pounds and you used it three times you'd have cause to grumble.
Dont forget that programmers have mouths to feed - and being a software developer is as worthy a job as a train driver or electrician.
(Apart from Solicitors & Estate Agents)
I am none of these by the way, but I know plenty of programmers!
Dont forget that we need people like this to develop apps for our phones to make them "far more functional" than our friends nokias, or motorolas are.
Hold on a minute you dont like paying 14 dollars, but you have several hundred dollars worth of mobile phone!!!!
Just try it out. add three pics for your best friends and if you like it then just BUY NOW!

no thanks, I already got the serial no... caller2phone. I guess our opinion are different.
xda site
hi all
this is a great site and i normally log in daily i used to have a nokia communicator but the xda is a lot more usefull and the only real website for the xda is my-symbian.com and that started a bit like this site but turned very quickly into a forum for selling software and not really intrested in the people or the product it would be s ahame for this to happen here there is loads of free software out there try downloading bear share and you will get loads of games. anyway keep up the good work on the website.
regards kevin beecher
So... what about sharing the serial!!!!
caller2picture is pants..
I only wanted to be able to select different ringtones... caller2picture adds its bloatware crap and removes another useful feature <sending an sms from the contacts> (or has nobody noticed?)
nobody has made a program with a little box that lets you do the same thing?
hmmmm

It is useless, because it is generated depending on number on your Register screen. And that one is probably calculated from your name/or other unique parameters of you xda.
Hi!
Anyone got similar problem. The pictures aren't showing themselves regularly and consistently. They pop up many times less than they don't. Suggest anything, guys? :?
What is frustrating is I bought the full version, but it will not work with WM2003PE.

The program does work with my ppc2003. Anyway, you have to remove your sd card before the installation since the system will automatically install the software to sd card even you choose to install on the default location. The Picture2Caller does have some bugs when installed to ppc 2003. That is the software fails to work with all contacts. Anyway, if you feel ok with this, go ahead. Cheers
I want to agree with Arzeb,
This is an AWESOME site, complete with smart helpful people. Please keep up the excellent stuff that gets done here.
xchange: please chill.
THANX to the rest of you.
Hal.
Tried installing it again withot the SD card, still does not work. What happens is, it does not retrieve the contact's name, and phone numbers.

Why not? This is the app section, where the community is welcome to share, discuss, and post apps of their likings on or off market so long that its not warez.
Is that a problem for you? I mean really, just because it's old to you doesn't mean its not new to someone else, and some people search the internet before searching the market for new and cool apps.

1: You read my post to yourself in a tone that I wasn't using. That's understandable, I didn't put a little emoticon at the end. It's impossible to translate tone over text.
2: Some people might feel uncomfortable side loading apps from unknown sources. Rather than posting the QR code so people could view the application's security access, you posted mirrors. It's not entirely irrational for someone to question whether or not the application has been modified to allow malicious activity. I see that you posted a link to another page that has the QR code, but wouldn't it have been enough to post just the QR without numerous mirrors?
If you're the developer or are affiliated with Bejoy Mobile, then it would make a lot more sense. Their site seems to be down.

QR codes can be easier I suppose. But don't they require camera? Barcode scanner? I know people who's camera don't work, and some people, like my wife, don't know anything about apps like barcode scanner and wouldn't know what to do with it if they had it. Almost everyone, is familiar with links and mirrors, and as anything else you download from the internet...you download at your own risk. So I'm not obligated to edit my postings according to personal security of peace in mind to the anonymous viewers as to whether or the not the app has been modified in any malicious way.
As far as your posting, I did not read it in any type of tone at all, You asked a question & I answered. Simple as that. Maybe my answer carried a tone that disturbed you, if so, I apoligize...heres a few smiley's to lighten the mood--

It was the "" that implied that you were being defensive.
You can't say that "almost everyone" is familiar with links and mirrors (or installing non-market apps for that matter. If they're on AT&T, they can't do that unless they root their phone or use ADB).
When I bought a Vibrant at the T-Mobile store, it came with a little pamphlet suggesting applications, one of them was the barcode scanner. It explained what it was for and how to use it. A customer can always call or visit the store where they purchased their phone to ask questions like, "I saw a cool paint program on a discussion forum with a funny little code. How do I install that?"
But - and again this is an assumption, much like the one you made about almost everyone being familiar with download mirrors - if they're perusing a developer's forum, there's a good chance they at least know what a QR code is.
I would imagine that the average user would feel more comfortable seeing the application in the Android Market along with all the other ones, with all of the application's security access explained to them. Do you really believe there are people who wouldn't question something on a random download site plastered with ads and other visual spam?
Also, why would you flat-out refuse to edit your post to make people feel safer about downloading an application that you wanted to share? Ignoring the fact that I never even suggested that you edit your post (that's why I posted the QR code myself) it's just weird that you wouldn't.

@horrorwolf: I'm not trolling. If I was trolling, I would be purposely trying to get a rise out of people by being offensive or rude. I'm merely suggesting that there are better, safer, and more reliable ways to refer an application to the public.
The manner of "Klyentel"'s responses are just kind of stupid. It's weird that he would be so uppity about this. Even in his last post, he's arguing with me. If he developed an application and wanted it on the market, he would have to outline the application's security access. If he didn't, or lied about it, it would be taken down. I just don't understand why someone would go through the trouble of uploading a market app to several random mirrors and then posting them here unless they modified it in some way (either with different icons, widgets, or with malicious script)

No need for the name calling stranger. If thats what you wanted to know all you had to do was ask:
I didn't upload the app first of all some one else did, I don't host apps, and I don't use any of those crappy mirrors, I have my own mirror site, check my sig. I just simply re-posted these mirrors from somewhere else, for others to use.
Secondly, the benefit is the user can have a copy of the apk on their computer to use for their own reasons, or share with someone else for that matter.

The Ti-8# apps developed by Doug Melton have mysteriously disappeared from the app market sometime in what looks like the past week. I thankfully already have these apps on my phone, but does anyone know why they were taken down?
Interesting....I had just redownloaded these after a fresh flash. They come in handh when I don't actually want to bring my TI-83 around with me.
Not sure why they got removed; he had quite a few emulators.
Are you guys seriously wondering why they were removed?
Anyway: http://twitter.com/supware/status/43803417298214912
They're called andy-8#
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
They got the name change quite a while ago to Andy whatever. I still can't find them in the market... it shows that I have it installed but when I click on it on my app list it says the requested item could not be found. >_>
not surprising it will be removed due to the copyright problem
anyone want to post a dl link for those of us that couldnt grab them before the pull??
I have all 3...they have been on the market for so long I was under the impression that the author had proper licenses since from what I have read TI goes to great lengths to protect their intellectual property (sites that have posted TI calc roms for emulators have been taken down).
I would be happy to post a download link for all 3 providing it doesn't breach XDA rules. Even they are all freeware the fact that there is a licensing issue would probably make it illegal to post. I don't want XDA admins getting a nasty DMCA letter about hosting or linking to infringing material.
If a moderator replies with an ok, I'll post otherwise fuhgetaboutit.
Whenever my automated system finds an Android App Review online it sends an email to the developer telling the link to the review.
Each day I get between 5 - 10 thank you mails from both large app companies and indie developers, which I guess is a good indicator that it's a great tool in order to be able to take advantage of the review in their marketing. (I know how hard it is to be seen with a good app)
The question is, how do I monetize that service?
You have to pardon me if I sound desperate, but I actually am desperate and starting to worry about my ability to provide for my family.
Do you have an idea on how I could either monetize the service, or give it away to someone who can actually afford running it?
There are three main problems with it:
- Donations doesn't work (noone evidently donates anyway, so that went down the drain)
- Advertising, might have worked but there are far too few visitors.
- Most dev's have an invalid email address specified for their account at google play, which makes them not receive the notice from the service,
They can however subscribe for reviews of a certain package name, but how the heck could they when they don't even know the service exists?
I feel so stupid for having these great ideas and realize them, just to later find out that the only thing I've gained is more time away from my kids. I am honestly starting to loose all energy for the creation process of apps, web sites and services, just due to the fact that I can't even reach out enough to make anything out of it. And I can't afford advertising the services/apps/whatever crap I've made. Which even might be an indicator that I should stop trying, but I can't really do that either since I struggle to even afford the food for the month, yeah it's gotten that bad, and I hate sounding this pathetic.
Anyway, the link is in my sig called something like 'Android App Reviews' if you wish to have a look in order to give feedback on my question.
Maybe it's just a bad day 'cause I'm not usually this whiny, but even on a good day, the question stands.
Ah.. whatever. You have a good idea, let me know.
Later
very nice idea, perhaps most of your emails mistakenly get weeded out as SPAM. I have an APP published on Google Play with our company gmail address there, but in more than one ocasion we had people trying to contact us and those emails got to the SPAM folder automaticly by mistake and we never saw them.

Thanks, actually I was very glad myself when I got an email from my own service once, so yeah I think it's a great idea also.
So yes, one problem is, as you mention that most emails probably ends up marked as spam.
The other problem is money, it's running in a very low priced environment and actually doesn't require much juice to run but I can't afford maintaining it if it doesn't generate enough income to even support itself.
I would consider running it for nothing and I could even spend some personal money just for the satisfaction and appreciation, but given the gravity of the current financial situation in my family I can't do that.
So let's just see what happens, and thanks for taking the time to read.
Cheers
have you tried selling it? For about how much would you be willing to sell it? As i said the idea is pretty awesome and you got it pretty much nailed down. Perhaps with a few tweaks to the search algorithm it could be the next Google for Apps!

- Actually, no I haven't tried selling it yet as I don't have any experience selling these kinds of things, and don't really know where to turn.. So I haven't really thought of for how much I should sell it for,
what do you think something like this could be worth?
Thanks again
Actually i have no idea loool
I would buy it if I had the means.
The value of it probably based on how many views does your site has per day, how many apps does it have categorized, how many it crawls per day... idk.
For example i tried searching it and it seems to have few apps catalogued... my app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rtt3ch.suecaonline) isn't there.
EDIT: About how much do you spend on it a month? If it's not much and you're willing to give it away because can't afford it I wouldn't mind getting it lol, i think i can keep it alive.
If you want to generate income from your site, you have to run your site like a business. The ideas you have in your first post are too linear, especially for a small website with limited exposure (i'm sure you'll know ). Websites and youtube channels grow in exposure and size exponentially. Your site is still in the growth state of a business life cycle (the slowest, most challenging phase of business), so it's best to get as much exposure as possible, which means expanding.
- Try to create some sort of quasi-partnerships with other sites by sharing content or linking to each other. I've noticed you have some links on the side of your site, but try to get in contact with 'bigger names' out there
- Create a youtube channel and start reviewing apps like that. That way you have another avenue of traffic to your site
- Reviews of products may also be an idea.
Hope this helps It's what I can remember from business studies classes >.<
sup MetalDroid, any news?
I'd go with what SammiSaysHello said, you need to run it like a business. Personally I'd make the homepage look more like a professional a sales page and introduce a subscription fee if you want to use it for more then one app. Or even a one time fee for more then one app. I end up logging onto my developer console several times a day so I'd gladly pay a couple bucks a month to have the reviews sent straight to my inbox.. Just my two cents

Well, actually yes. The associated twitter account is growing, and the number of web page visitors is also increasing. Very slowly but I'm still positive about it. I've also, shockingly, had a few interesting partnership/business proposals drop down in my mailbox, so I'm gonna have a look to see what is offered there..

I'd go with what SammiSaysHello said, you need to run it like a business

You're right, that seems like a logical next step. I might add a low subscription fee if you wish to use for more than one app,
that seems like a very good suggestion, I'll have to wait a couple of days though to see how things turn out from some of the email proposals
I've had.
If you're interested I'll keep you updated on what happens, and I'm very grateful for your input,
Cheers
Have spent a fair amount of time on google (and and ddg and bing, just in case google's contractually bound to stfu or anything) searching for a way to circumvent the gestapo tactics employed by at&t to filter us in to being thrilled that they will one day come out with an equivalent system to what google wallet has been offering since 2011, and i haven't found anything for this phone except for 2 people that swore it'd be done that never responded. I want to post this here, where people that tinker thrive.
I realize google wallet isn't a hot issue for most of us.. but for those of us that would like to have it and to get that experience in while the 0$ fraud liabillity extends to cards stored on our phones' memory, i'd like to ask once and for all..
is there a way to get google wallet working on an AT&T htc one? i have seen conclusive accounts of people with other phones having it working.. but through everything except having this number active on another carrier and bringing it over, i have personally not found positive results. in the three days i've been trying, i HAVE gotten gwallet force closing, getting the 'unfortunately, wallet has stopped', message, or getting bored after 5 minutes and doing something else on my phone to see the gwallet has stopped message.
if there's a guide, please post it. otherwise, if anyone has actually gotten gwallet working on AT&T's network (or off with an unlocked number and have goteen it working with at&t) please share it here.
To be honest, it's like at&t has absolute control over what goes through this phone, even when on wifi. at the very least the goal of this thread is to find out conclusively that my data isn't filtered by some master at&t .hosts file somewhere in texas ,but i'd definitely prefer to leave with a working wallet app, so chime in if you know something i dont
always overly appreciative and way too damn generous with the thanks,
