The sticker's just there to tell you that if you remove the sticker to unscrew and tinker with the hardware then your warranty is void. The text on the sticker just so happens to be in red...

Can I remove the back panel on the atrix and not void warranty?
Where did you get the idea that removing the battery cover would void the warranty?

I guess, if you can put it back the same way like it was never touched. I know that there are guides of how to do that here, and maybe YouTube.
What's going on that you need to take apart your phone?

He means to access the motherboard. I believe they put a special tape that you break when you separate it, my friend at sprint repairs phones and always puts a new tape in after he repairs a phone... maybe if you don't fully separate the two pieces?

Oh. Well that explains a lot.
I think the only tape is the piece that is holding one of the data cables on to the motherboard, otherwise you can theoretically remove the back cover without them knowing, be careful not to scratch up the screws with your torx.
I just bought a 3d with a busted digitizer for 25 bucks. If i buy a 3d with a bad esn for cheap can i just swap my good esn mboard into that 3d?
Yes

I was trying to decide what would be the easier method, i thought swapping motherboards would be easier. What about a water damaged phone? Can i assume a digitizer\ lcd would not be damaged by water? Maybe a water damaged phone for purchase and screen swap?

Obviously swapping the digitizer would be easier, since that's just one of the many steps to replacing the whole motherboard. Plus you can run into problems with all the connections and ribbons when swapping the mobo.

The digitizer can absolutely be damaged by water. Not as easily as the LCD itself, but it can definitely be affected by water.
So i guess i will pass on the water damaged phone for parts. Maybe a cheap digitizer from amazon. Thanks for the help!
Hello All
I have a few problems with my GS3, as the silver on the side seems to be peeling and I have a minor scratch on the screen (I don't know how it happened as I have a Samsung flip case)...
Will Samsung repair these defects I have mentioned under warranty??

Normal wear & tear are not covered by the warranty.
Peeling possible if its a defect scratch no that's self induced .
jje
I do not think that it falls under the warranty, because it is not a hardware failure or software error.
The scratches caused by own use
So i dropped my phone in a cup of water yesterday and i didnt notice until it was too late. i imediately took the battery out and put it in rice and it was in there for about 20 hours. i turned it on this morning and it works fine but it looks like there is water under the screen. is there anything i can do?
Let it dry longer?

sounds like a good idea.. or as mentioned--if you feel capable--disassemble it and then let it dry.

I think if i do that it will void my warranty. i could still pay 100 dollars to get a new one if it broke, but its still fully functioning. so i think im going to put it back in the rice overnight.

Never hurts to try it again. But yeah taking it apart will void your warranty. I've lost 2 phones to water now I feel your pain bro

They should make water proof phones so that people don't keep losing them to water it helps the owner and saves manufacturer time dealing with it.

well most warranties do not cover water damage..so once your water damage strip turns pink, that's it, BAM. No warranty.
I could be wrong though.
Do they have some kind of "VOID" sticker so when you open it they can tell? or what?

Yes. When looking at the back of the phone with the cover off, the middle screw on the right side has a sticker that says "VOID".

uhh, but how would you replace the sticker without voiding the warranty by opening it to replace it? Lol

hmm I looked and mine says VOID on it. does that mean it was opened? to me it just looks like a regular sticker with VOID printed on it, and it looks like you can take it on and off--but maybe that's just me?

The sticker on the screw always said VOID. If it's there, they know you didn't open the phone (or you replaced the sticker). If it's missing, they will know you have opened it (or you took off the sticker or it fell off). Maybe it would make more sense for that sticker to say NOT VOID.
And to your first question, you would open the phone, replace the water damage sticker, close the phone, and then replace the VOID sticker on the screw.

yeah that's what I was implying, you could just get a new sticker and HTC wouldn't be the wiser.. until they take the phone apart and see lots of scratch marks, etc

Like Max said, if you break the sticker (or remove it, etc) THEN it's void. That's how all void stickers work. This sticker was just too small to put a lot of lettering on, so they just put "VOID" on it.
