HTC One shuts off - AT&T HTC One (M7)

Newbie here. Recently got the HTC One and started using it.
Everytime i take a picture with the flash or put the phone on loudspeaker, the phone will shut off itself and i have to manually power it back up. It also was doing this even when not in use.
I was wondering what can be causing this,

That's some sort of defect and you should get a warranty replacement

Thanks man.
Just actually called in to HTC and they told me re install the rom and if that doesnt work they will do the ticket for warranty.

Why not use at&t?

Yeah use att they'll send you a refurb one at no charge and it's fast and easy.

even if i was not the original owner of the phone?

I heard good and bad stories from that particular situation, some say it's possible but it's hell. Give it a try and do not be specific, but it's based on when the phone was bought from them so it's pretty unlikely.

I believe the warranty is on the phone and not the ownership. If your account is in good standing, they should warrant the phone. And yes it will be a refurbished one.

Hard Brick (I Think)

Ok,
I took my phone back to complete stock last night using odin, this morning I wanted to update the phone so my kiddo could get the new market, after downloading kies and running the update the phone will not turn on at all. it does not show when I connect a charger and I cant get it to go into download mode. Any suggestions or is this phone now done?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848737
I Tried this and it didn't work. I really believe my phone is completely dead!
So there is no sign of life at all? No leds or any backlight behind the screen? If not, then you are hardbricked. Kies is notorious for hardbricking phones.
You can call your carrier or Samsung and tell them your phone was bricked using THEIR software and see where that goes.
Sorry for your loss.
Nothing at all idk what they will say since I've had the phone since brand new

I had the exact problem you did. Tmobile sent me a replacement, and now I have a phone with no scratches or dings! :victory:
Well I've had mine since the day it came out, it it's out of warranty so t-mobile won't cover it, Samsung was not going to cover it at first but after it was said and done they decided to cover it since it was there software that bricked my phone

This happened to me awhile back! I called T-Mobile, but as I was out of warranty, no phone could be sent! Wish I would've seen this thread before I tossed it...

Amaze Cuts Off

My friends phone randomly cuts off all the time.
Not rooted.
It's the most random thing. it turns off completely. no reboot.

Is that phone rooted? custom kernel installed? Check out this thread...

Most likely a bad battery. But only way to check is to change batteries and see if the problem still persist.
I'd go with double's suggestion with replacing battery. Otherwise could be hardware. Sounds like the contacts could be dirty either in battery or on the phone itself. Or It's not holding the contacts in place, somewhere It's getting loose. Again not sure if it's exterior or loose in interior.

I'm going to give this a shot.
He said it's completely random. He will go to pick his phone up and just shuts off. which sounds like a battery problem but hard to check without buying another battery

Go to a Tmo store and see if they have one you can test...I was there the other day and a guy with an Amaze had the same issue. The store rep ordered him a new battery but he had to pay for shipping.

AT&T warranty department and relocked bootloader

So long story short, my HOX+ broke and the touch screen stopped working. I rejoiced the bootloader and RUUed it but HBoot had the 'Relocked' flag... Has anybody else been in this situation and been charged?
I sent it in via their mail return service.
Thanks,
IE

Just got mine back from repair. I didn't even take the time to re lock the bootloader or flash the stock ruu. They are going to completely disassemble your phone to determine the cause of the failure. Mine was obvious, I broke the screen. Once they determine the cause they will send you a quote or "repair" it under warranty. By repair I mean they are going to send you a new phone. Having the phone unlocked should play no factor in your case unless they determine the cause to be directly related.

I'm on my third warranty phone. Have bad luck. First one I re locked and got replacement with no issues and the second one I sent it off with a custom rom and it was fine lol. They never gave me any issues

Can I send phone back to vm with custom Rom?

So my phone won't charge anymore and its completely dead. I'm guessing a new battery could fix this but I kind of want to pull for a new phone. Would my warranty be void if I send it with cm 10.1 installed?

No.
Actually you can, but they will not accept your warranty for it.
So if I send it back they won't charge me for a new one?

If VM is anything like Sprint.... Sprint will not give you grief for warranty repairs when the phone is rooted or has a rom on it, so long as the problem/issue is hardware and not software. After 20 months, my digitizer wasa acting up too much for me to bear any longer. Went to sprint and they replaced it, no hassle. If you're concerned, return the phone to stock....

Advice please, Blown Top speaker...

Hello, i just wanted to ask some advice. I just got my htc one a little over a week ago with tmobile. When i got home the first thing I did was unlock the bootloader and install cwm recovery. Just last night i started to notice my top speaker was making horrible crackling noises and i realized the speaker was blown. What should i do about getting this fixed? I assume that no matter what I do at tmobile they will try and blame it on the bootloader being unlocked, and i am worried that htc will do the same. Has anyone had to deal with anything like this? Any adivice would be greatly appreciated.

I would unroot it and try to lock it back. I don't think it was because of you rooting it since we dont even have SOFF to begin with. I would contact HTC about it and if they noticed it argue with them that you unlocking it couldn't have possibilty done that and it was a hardware problem on their side
1 year warranty call HTC n u also have insurance on ur phone so just call HTC or return to tmbile where u got it n just don't tell them is rooted or unlocked they won't check that

HTC on the other hand and Samsung both now require to send device in first before you get a replacement sent ,they figure let them determine wether the owner is wrong right or at fault .
So HTC will see that it's been tampered with because when u relock the bootloader it will never say just locked again it will say relocked
No way around that .

I think it's *#*#3424#*#* is diagnostics program and can run speaker tests from there.
