[Q] Bell Canada - compatible radio/baseband - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking for advice on compatible radios for Bell Canada. I'm running the latest CM10.1 build from epinter and my wifi/bt are basically dead. They only turn on sometimes, but most of the time they seem to be frozen.
I had this problem with the stock Bell radio, and it continues with the Telstra N_01.87.00R, which otherwise works great for data/calls/sms.
What I'd like to know is this: Has anybody used the .100 radio, or the .37/.38 radios from ATT, on Bell? Are they compatible with my network? Will I get HSPA+ speeds?
Thanks so much!

OK, I just did a quick Google search and it appears they use the same frequencies. That's good news, right?
So I guess the question is, do the ATT radios work, and work well, on Bell's network?

Quick answer - yes, the radios work, no they don't work well.
Stick with your Bell OTA or the Telstra radios.

[Q] How to Change the modem of T959 to I9000?

I have seen many Thread about I9000 trying to convert T959 modem to use the T-mobile network. What i couldn't find is from T959 to I9000 to make it to the international version.
I have the T-Mobile Vibrant T-959 unlocked with ECLAIR. I know that the network band of this phone is 850/900/1800/1900. i found the result according to Samsung website. I know in another post it was said that it is hardware issue but the hardware is 850/900/1800/1900.
I live in the United Arab Emirates and the network band here is 900/1800 similar to the European or Asian Network. but the T-mobile uses 850/1900 so i couldn't get 3G or any kind of internet connection here, unless i find a WiFi connection. I need the 3G connection on the move.
I want to know is there any way to change the the modem band to I9000? so that i can use a custom rom like Darky which is Stable according to many users.
I would never be using the phone on US T-mobile or any Network in the US.
You might think this Question is redundant and has already been answered but i search every where but it comes back empty.
Your feedback would be highly Appreciated!!!!
I don't think you can actually change your phone's bands.
However, an unlocked US T-Mobile Vibrant should be working on 3G. According to Wikipedia, the two 3G networks in UAE (du and Etisalat?) use the 2100MHz band, which should be supported.
Thanks for the reply, i tried everything but nothing worked.
One more question to ask, what will happen if i flash i9000 rom and radio on a T-mobile phone. Or should i just flash it with a T-mobile rom without changing the radio, and if the sim gets locked I will just unlock?
this is the final question to ask.
Don't know if this helps but I use my unlocked vibrant in the uk, so if European bands are the same...it should work.
You can change roms and I would recommend you should but you can't use an i9000 modem.
Do you have a Sim with a data plan?
Can you text or make calls?

Yes i can make a calls and send Text but no internet connection. I just bought data plan for my sim.
So i Should get Vibrant custom rom not the I9000 rom?
And thank you Guys for your replay, I hope this tread will help other confused users on XDA
I would like everyone to know that it is not good thing to change there modem from T959 to i9000 your phone will brick never do it.
I just flashed a new rom from Trigger 3.2 which upgraded to Froyo 2.2 and i put in the settings for the Access Point and it works perfectly.
So if you have any difficulty accessing 3g or HSDPA connection on android 2.1 just upgrade it and it will work.
How did you conclude you're not on 3G? Do you get EDGE or GPRS internet connection?
So i need the 1800 mhz how can i do?
Flash a i9000 modem and see if it works.

There is the possibility to brick the phone?

try downgrade to KF1 or KG1 or even Upgrade to KG3 modem....
I flashed the full XXKG2 firmware, including modem, etc.
I have no problems with my signal. You shouldn't list it as a 850Mhz band modem, as all modems for the SGS2 should have all bands, because GT-i9100 and GT-9100m are the same phone.
XXKG2 modem does not remove the 850Mhz band frequency, as I can still get a signal if I select my phone to only use the 850Mhz band.
The bell firmware, and all subsections of it have not been released yet, so you can't go back exactly to stock again.
I am on kg3 now and everything works fine it was just the stock bell firmware always shows H+ and villianrom just shows h+ when data is passing for more then 10 seconds or so.

Confused About Radios

I'm new to the Atrix and, after successfully unlocking/rooting/flashing a custom rom, I'm not sure about is which radio I should be using.
My phone is a UK T-mobile version but I've searched the forum and can't find any radio for a T-mobile device. Should I be using ones for AT&T or should I use the Bell international radios? Sorry if this sounds stupid
Any help would be much appreciated.
Use radios that are compatible with the bands of your radio. Find out what bands are used in the uk for tmobile, and then find radios that are compatible. And its best to fastboot flash radios, btw.
I voided my warranty and your mum.
Right thanks, that makes things a bit clearer Never seen a radio on here state which bands it uses though. I'll have a look into it. Thanks
I also would like to understand this.
Let say I'm using AT&T set, but live in Malaysia, should I flash SEA radio 1.95R or keep using the default AT&T radio.
I tried both but I don't feel any difference.

[Q] Big Problem: AWS streak now says EU no 3G

Well i have a AWS Streak From Cincinnati Bell Carrier locked, i bought the phone from a guy that said he put the Power_Rom on its the 1.2 Build
Its
2.3.4
GAUSB1A134934-EU It should say aws at the end
2.6.35.7-perf
ASK's Power_Rom
1.2
Is their anyway i can change the baseband back to an aws version so i can get 3G or is their no way to do that i did some searching and could find any certain aws baseband versions. And this phone is an aws version phone i had check and verified with cincinnati bell.
Is it unlocked now? that's the only thing that really matters.
Its not unlocked i check when i got home i put in a tmobile sim att sim and and a international version sim and they all say carrier locked and ask to put in a code but it works fine on the cincinnati bell sim but only gets edge
I also checked the apn settings and everything is correct
Well unless you happen to have a cincinatti bell in your area then, it wouldnt matter as it's still sim locked
I dont think you get what im trying to do
I live in cincinnati and have a cincinnati bell unlimited plan 4G/3G
Im just trying to know if i can restore the baseband back to normal to get the 3G back
and if so what baseband could i use? Right now the phone is acting like its an EU
European model on my Streak box it has UMTS900, UMTS1700, UMTS2100 And its the
M01M002 so its AWS
Is their a way for me to do this are am i screwed
Oh, I guess I misred it then, as I figured you lived in europe from the title.
You cant change the sub-model, it's physically impossible. BUT 349 is the cincinatti bell rom.
If it were a different rom i'd suggest reinstalling 349, but that isnt an option as that rom has never been dumped (i have no information at all on it except the version number)
When in doubt, install 360 and work your way form there, the files and instructions are on the xda wiki.
If your device is truely GAUSB1A134934-EU then something went terribly wrong somewhere.
I did as suggested and everything went smooth but it still says eu
Is their anyone with an aws update pkg?
And is their a such thing as an aws amss.mbn?
Any help would be great, but I might just sell it and get another streak after tonight.
Basebands dont care about whichever submodel you have.
I cant say what you should do, if you were the original owner i'd say take it to CBell and ask them, but who knows if they'll support a 2ndhand owner.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

AT&T Note Flash Telus Radio?

I live in a TERRIBLE LTE area they just turned it on and my phone perfers LTE over 3G and when on LTE the phone DOES NOT WORK AT ALL its annoying all phones in the house are like that.. But all the phones I can force to WCDMA only where it does not try to pull LTE.
But when I try to do it on the Note 1 it just resets back to default as soon as I choose WCDMA only. I know its a limitation of the AT&T Radio doing it. (current has the Jelly Bean international rom flashed to it)
Is there a CWM flashing Radio/Modem I could use to fix that? Maybe Telus or Rogers? I have the Note 1 when it first came out and forgotten.
ALL the Canadian radios are posted in the Canadian Firmware post in the Development section. I use the Rogers ROM and the Rogers radio in Pennsylvania and those options work 100%.
There is an international ROM for the I717? I don't think so. You may want to flash the Canadian ROM also.
