I was wondering if it's even relevant or possible to take the new .11 software ota while being soff and supercid. Basically my question is since im soff and supercid can I take the new ota without issues or loosing any root or loosing soff

As log as you have stock recovery you should be able to get ota I didn't get s-on after but I did lose root you would have to unlock bootloader again and reflash custom recovery

I know you can't apply system updates after using an s-off tool.
Does the same thing apply if you used HTC Unlock to gain root?
Can I apply system updates or no?
thanks
Are you talking about prl and profile or software? If you're talking about software you don't want to accept any updates from Sprint just wait for the ROM of your choice to update and flash that. Are you s-off? If so you can update your firmware with out switching to the stock recovery and taking an ota.

Flash back to stock rom and recovery, relock the boot loader and take an OTA. And for the record you can update with S-OFF. When new official packages are released someone usually provides a zip of just the ROM package and another for radios and other various firmware bits
Thanks guys. The thing is, the HTC Unlock tool is the 'legit' way to unlock our devices.
It's a tool made by HTC. It's doesn't give S-Off.
So given Sprint allows it, and HTC allows it, does that mean it's safe to install any update they send out?
I would assume it wouldn't break my root given that Sprint/HTC allowed root....
Anyone know?
.
They don't allow root, they allow access to fastboot and partitions. Sprint just looks the other way lol. In order to take an ota, you need to flash a stock ROM and recovery. Relock hboot and then you can accept an ota. Unlock hboot and reflash twrp to be able to root the phone again

Gotcha. Thanks man
I have the AT&T One X+ and have it unlocked. All I want to do is root it now and read that you have to flash the stock RUU. I just downloaded the RUU so where exactly do I go from here?
The next step after unlocking would be to flash a custom recovery. Then you'll be able to root your phone. No ruu necessary unless you want to go back to completely stock. Also a ruu will only flash if your bootloader is locked, relocked,or your device has s-off.

So before I could get to s-off my phone or flash a custom ROM I figurrd the vibration on my brand new ONE does not work. I did get to unlock bootloader flash twrp and root, now I need to return to %100 stock to return my phone. I flashed back to stock recovery but I still have 'tampered' 'unlocked' bootloader. Can I relock and remove tampered without being s-off? Also if I take latest OTA will that relock my bootloader??

Only way to remove it is doing the s-off, afterward I belive u can relock everything... I used rumrunner to change the s-off and then the revone method to clear the tampered flag on the bootloader.
- lookup remrunner
Then lookup HTC ONE Toolkit 2.0,by squabbi... The tool kit helps for someone lazy on the shell commads

A friend of mine got this phone after his iPhone 4 got stolen (I'm trying to convert him) and he asked to get the latest firmware so naturally I began to root and installed TWRP on his device (he got a used one that's on HBOOT 2.09) but after he said he doesn't care if it's rooted. I tried to update it through the settings on the phone but, naturally after forgetting about that, it just boots into the recovery. Can I just update it through the RUU or will that bring on complications?
You can use ruu. The ota won't get you the latest firmware, if your HTC dev unlocked I believe you need to lock it before running ruu. If your going to want root/custom recovery I would recommend getting soff it makes things easier from a support perspective.
So many times my friends ask me if I can fix their issue and a lot of my suggestions usually require root.

Just to add to this if you are s-off you do not have to relock your bootloader

How would I relock his bootloader again? It's just a cmd prompt like fastboot oem lock right?

Yes. But I would strongly recommend gaining s-off before ruu. S-off is rather easy to do, either Rumrunner or firewater will work. Then ask you have to do is ruu and install twrp and rom of your choice.

I was going to S-Off it then update but since he's on 2.09 the only S-off method requires Ubuntu and I just didn't want to deal with downloading Ubuntu, dual booting, installing drivers again, then doing the process since my internet is unholy slow (It took like 2 hours just to download the RUU for 4.3)

There are Windows-friendly S-off methods for ALL Hboot versions. Check out my Hboot guide for a list of applicable S-off methods (top link in my sig).

Pls I'll be so glad if I can find some help.
You're already S-Off, why are you trying to unlock via htcdev.com?? To unlock via htcdev.com (which is not a complete unlock, unlike S-Off) then you have to be on the newest bootloader version. HBOOT-0.89.0007. I thought there was actually a link to the little RUU update that is just for the bootloader on the bottom of the walkthrough @ htcdev? It's been awhile since I played with one, but I'm sure it was there. If not, I can upload it. I am sure it's hanging around somewhere. But yea, unless you relocked it and stayed S-Off, all the htcdev stuff would not be needed.
Exactly as stated above
If there is an engineering bootloader for your phone you should get that as well, if I'm not mistaken the proper way of rooting your device is to exploit it with gfree, similar to the vision a phone I used for a long time, all info should be in the xda wiki to see if greed was used to exploit and how to flash the eng hboot

So pls how do I update to the latest hboot 0.89.0007
So pls how do I update to the latest hboot 0.89.0007 or how else can I unlock the bootloader and root?
What do you mean? It's the very beginning of the steps on how to unlock @ htcdev.com (and the RUU is there, just like I mentioned earlier). Are you certain that you need to do this? It seems like you have not done much research and might be getting yourself into more work than is needed.
so pls can I flash custom rom just with my s-off
Yes, you just need a custom recovery such as twrp, cwm, 4ext
But what you should do is go to the xda wiki or cyanogen wiki and follow the steps for rooting, these guides will give you true radio s-off, an engineering bootloader and a custom recovery so you can easily flash ROMs and easily fix your phone if issues come about
To answer you directly, yes you should be able to flash custom ROMs as is, but having to ask that questions makes me think you should read more about your device or the next thread you make will probably ask for help fixing a brick
