I like to use Location Services for maps, weather, etc. But I dont like them being ON at all times. Is there a way I can create a shortcut to my Location Settings? Maybe a widget? Any ideas or solutions would help me out.

Edit: I figured this out by myself. I figured I would share my info. In apps /widgets menu, select the 'Settings Shortcut' widget. From there you can select one of many shortcuts.
P.s. I wish there were toggles in quick settings for both VZW source and WiFi/ Mobile Network source.
Use nova launcher perhaps. Long press on your home screen and select shortcut>settings>location settings. Theres an app called anycut that that may work as well.

Tasker App

wish I saw this thread sooner, been doing this for a long time.
Download Tasker on the Google play store and have it set up to turn on your location/gps/whathaveyou whenever you open maps or navigation etc... I have found this solution to be very convenient.

can i ask what the exact setup is that you made up? not sure if it's somethign weird where tasker not playing as well on 10.2 roms but I just set up a profile where upon opening maps, GPS turns on, but it doesn't seem to work.
Honestly, I use AutomateIt from the App Store. It is free and does everything I need. But I don't want any other tasks running in the background. Hence, toggles..

I recently installed the Google Now ICS app and now whenever I double tap the home button nothing happens. S Voice doesn't start. I checked the option in settings regarding double tapping home to start S Voice and it's checked. Anybody know what to do?

Google now sort of replaces the s voice in that way at least.. You can still open the app from the app drawer tho

But as far as anybody knows you can't change the button.

I'm having network location locator running from Google maps. It did the same thing last night. I haven't run maps. Would Google now have anything to do with this? Any thoughts?

Yes. For Google Now to do its magic, it needs to periodically check your current location. It uses Maps for this. There's an option in the Maps settings where you can disable the updating of your location automatically if you desire, but then Now won't be able to alert you for traffic conditions, local weather, bus stop info, nearby sports info, etc. Although you can set most of those things manually.
It's there a way to let Google Now work without having to give them permission to track your location?
I'm one of those paranoid types who hate being tracked for no assistant reason.

It actually relies heavily on knowing your location in order to provide relivent information and responses.

When you search for stuff around you, how's it supposed to know where you are?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Well I guess you'd miss out on a lot of the features but you'd still get voice searching and those things, but would this work?
Go into system settings and find Location Services, uncheck those boxes they're used to pinpoint your location (Google location service, GPS Satellites, Location and Google Search). Try that or maybe two of the three. Never tried it myself so dunno how it would work
Nope, it says I have to enable it to continue using google now

I wish I could disable mine. I'm tired of bumping the search and it coming up.
I used titanium backup to freeze mine.
Wish I could reassign the button though

Recently I have been getting spam ads in my notification bar I think it was from installing GNES lite but I'm not sure. also an icon appeared on my desktop that was some sort of spam. I'm curious if anyone has any tips how to isolate the source so I can get rid of it.

I would look into the settings of all the apps you've installed around the time you first noticed it. Other than that, it might be a process of elimination. How about checking the play store page for the apps too? I'm sure other ppl will comment on that in the reviews.

Glad you found it already. I thought I'd leave a little tip here in case you didn't know and need it in the future. If you long press on a notification an "App Info" button will come up which will take you directly to the app responsible for the notification. From there you can disable notifications for that app by unchecking the "Show Notifications" box.

Get Mupen64 or N64oid. N64oid isn't in the play store, but you can find it in other places. I personally find N64oid to work better and have some better options.

I cleared data, force stopped and turned off the native app "Samsung WatchTV Video" and I can't get to it anymore. I can see it in app info but I can't do anything with it. Everything is greyed out except force stop. It's not in my app drawer. If I search for it in Google now it doesn't recognize it.
Any suggestions? Thanks
