Question about Developer Edition - Motorola Droid RAZR

So my question is,what if i´m flashing Developer Edition from this site??? http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_spyder/list.php

you could try that actually!
but the difference between normal and developer edition is the unlocked bootloader.
If the hardwares and the board are the same we can flash it right?!

My thought was,if i´m flashing this,flashes it the unlocked bootloader with it???Dunno,downloading now and i´ll have a look,don´t want to brick it

So, any news on this? It sounds interesting!

I am interested in maybe trying this. If the possibility is of no risk or a minimum risk.

There're risks of hardbricking but if you're covered with warranty
Sent from my XT910 using xda app-developers app

I don't have a warranty either. And I was thinking of running stock rom with boot loader in a virtual environment to test and see if the developer version of the bootloader will successfully run in the virtual environment. Do you think that will work?

Dunno, never heard about that.....

I have no idea about how you could achieve it but it sounds logical and harmless since everything will be done virtually.

Well their is a thing called (AndroVM) which is open source. And is able to boot certain android OS. However bad news is that it is still in development and good news is that it seems official.AndroVM seems to be a promising step to finally being able to test crap with out risk . Maybe some devs from xda could try to improve and implement this type of developing tool into their arsenal some day in the future. I am sure it would come in handy.Here is a link to the thread on xda about AndroVM.

Well, AndroVM is for App Development, not ROM Development. Or just run Android on PC/Mac/Linux for ..fun?

It seems to be for app and general android development, they say within 24min's of the introduction of the app that it also can be used by oem developers.So basically in order to do app development, AndroVM would need to be capable of loading multiple roms and versions and different phone stats and compatibility's meaning testing hacks on the bootloader seems possible. So yes it seems possible to test such things with AndroVM if it loads the correct specifications for the XT910 and bootloader with the rom, which at this point i am not sure if it does nor doesn't load the bootloader or have the correct stats for loading a XT910 rom. If it don't we should ask them to add that feature or ask someone to add that feature due to AndroVM being open source.All this info i am stating is also backed by facts that i seen from a video at an android summit 2013 introduction to the AndroVM product it's self.Here is the link.

[REFERENCE] Ice Cream Sandwich – from source code release to software upgrade

i came across a very interesting article on Sony Ericsson Product Blog... SE seems to be working on ICS and outlines what all goes on to get stuff to work...
here is the link: http://developer.sonyericsson.com/w...from-source-code-release-to-software-upgrade/
i have posted it here (in development section) as i think it will be useful for users to make them aware on what all goes on in development for new OS version release...
also do keep in mind that even the device manufacturer (SE) has to do so much work; so u can only imagine the amount of work/efforts the devs (here at XDA and other android forums/portals), who are working on sources, are pouring into making this work for the community...
please do read it... its very interesting...
regards,
DooMLoRD
First we take the clean blazing fast Android OS. Then add a whole bunch of useless crap to bog it down because we feel it works too well on your handset as is.
So does this mean as soon as the source code is released from sony we could easily flash this to rooted R800x plays even with a locked bootloader

That's partly incorrect... U can flash custom roms on locked bootloader (flashing via recovery)... How do u think the users of Xperia 2009-2010 devices have survived locked bootloaders
But u can't use FLASHTOOL to flash them as FTF/.SIN...

I Remember with the droid X and 2 the locked bootloaders didn't stop development on it i believe koush made a boot strap program to get flashing to work :/, also that was a very interesting read.
It's not an obstacle either for the Xperia bootloaders, given that the same people here brought custom ROMs to the bootloader-locked older Xperia models. But again, they decided not to try to bypass the locked bootloader, seeing as there is an officially sponsored way to unlock it.
Damn :-( I just can't seem to get the fastboot commands working on windows XP damn it's age!

With locked bootloader using root you should be able to use a shell script to boot into a custom recovery. But as we have no other ways to flash kernels, roms are mosty limited to stock.
Correct me if I am wrong.

the whole meaning of this blogpost is "why we will deliver ICS in 4months from now" or "why it will take ages to release ICS on the Xperia 2011 line" they could also release ICS clean without any Sony Stuff and provide a "skinned" Version later,i would prefer ICS as it is on the Galaxy Nexus personally
don`t really know what they are trying with this post other than an early excuse why it will be long time till we see ICS on the xperia 2011 line..

Unlocking the bootloader and rooting the phone are two separate processes, and you don't need one to have the other.
As far as root methods and the rest, have you looked here? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1393519

Unlocking the bootloader allows you to load roms like CM7, CM9, MIUI - anything that uses a custom kernel. It also allows you to load up a custom recovery.

For now, the only Motorola smartphones scheduled to get ICS in 2012 are thr Photon 4G, Atrix 4G and Atrix 2 starting in July. The rest of Motorola's lineup, including the Droid 4 and Droid Razr Maxx are in the evaluation and planning stage, and that means there is no guarantee they will be updated.

Dual booting? WP8?

Hey everyone.
I've been reading that siyah kernel will soon allow dual booting. I'm still learning android stuff so I don't know what this means exactly.
Dual booting means we could install another OS on the SGS3? If that's so, could it be possible to install WP8?
Crazy question, I know.
Thanks.

+ WP8 wouldn't work without locked bootloader since MS requires it.
The only alternative could be Mozilla's Boot to Gecko since it's also based on Linux, but at it's current state, it's not really usable (and by the time it's mature enough, you have most likely already moved to SGS4 or SGS5 )
Forget about windows phones. This question has been asked million times the answer is big no....

No maybe because T-Mobile doesn't even have it yet, because it's still in testing, noob! You honestly have no clue what you are talking about, but go ask people like Mike1986 or or developers like that and tell them mugetsu666 told you to ask. Your "evidence" is the exact thing that proves that you are mistaken. T-Mobile ROMs are all numbered x.xx.531.x (ie 3.24.531.3), while HTC developer ROMs are all x.xx.1540.x (ie 4.06.1540.2).
I will explain this further to you so you don't make this mistake again, using the 4.06.1540.2 rom as an example. The version number breaks down as follows:
4.xx.xxxx.x = fourth Android base for device, in this case KitKat 4.4 (4.1.2, 4.2.2, 4.3, 4.4)
x.06.xxxx.x = Rom build
x.xx.1540.x = developer edition device
x.xx.xxx.2 = build reversion number
So, now, as you can see, it really doesn't matter what you THINK, you were in fact mistaken when you claimed the T-mobile variant of the ROM was available . It would have been big of you to just admit that you were mistaken and move on instead of posting here (and other threads) over and over to try and convince the rest of us you're right and in the process insulting others and calling them noobs.
Most of us know the real deal. To say your phone is untouched is just not accurate. You would not have received the OTA without modifying the device in some way. Now I'm not going to get into a debate with you about what you did or didn't do, though I'm sure you'll post back saying once again you've done nothing, the fact is your evidence is against you.

[Q] How to make sd card default storage?

Hello xda. I just got a Droid incredible 4g lte today and I am loving it so far and hoping to get more in depth with it. But the first thing I must ask is how can I make the apps in my phone go default to the SD card, I have a 32gb SD card. I installed modern combat 4 and then followed by Nova 3, my phone canceled the Nova 3 download because of space problems. So I'm just wanting to have the big apps go to my Android/obb folder on my SD card but they won't. I tryed using es file Explorer to move the mc4 files to SD card then play it. But once I started the game it wanted me to download it.. Is there any way to fix this or will I need a rooted phone and some kind of Rom? Thanks for any help. All will be thanked.

Wow. Patience is a virtue. Yes, you will need to be rooted. If you just got the phone yesterday, hopefully you are still on build 2.17.605.2 or earlier.
I suggest that you look at the Droid Incredible 4G LTE Resource Index in the General area. That will point you to rooting methods, and there is also a link to Jose's SD Card Swap Mod that does exactly what you are looking for.

Thank you so much. And I got this phone from a pawnshop lol. It is on the version you said above and hboot 1.15. This is probably the best phone I have ever used, I really like how it has the adreno 225! Can't wait to unlock this baby and get to flashing! The previous phone I had was the HTC evo 3d. So I have experience with HTC phones, but this droid looks like it will be abit of a challenge to s-off. Hopefully I can find a perfect rom that won't require it. I like to use Windows but I think the only methods avaliable to s-off only work with Linux, and I by no means have experience using Linux.

Root it now and get on a ROM that isn't subject to the OTA before the OTA finds its way into your phone before it's too late!
I do recommend s,-off, as it makes like much easier. Try making an Ububtu Live CD and play around with it to see if you can get comfortable with it before trying DirtyRacun. You can also look at face palm method.

If you root and stay "rooted stock", you'll get the OTA. No bueño.
The 2.1.1 release of ViperLTE also gets the Verizon OTA notice. No bueño. If like Sense-based ROMs, I highly recommend the latest ViperLTE version 2.2.0, as it has setting to turn off OTA checks. I have not received an OTA notification since installing 2.2.0 and ticking that setting. I was getting them on 2.1.1.
I would fully expect that CyanogenMod to not get an OTA notice, either. However, I cannot confirm.

Wait so how can I unlock my bootloader if they are locking it? Unless it's because I am on hboot 1.15?

Only build version 2.17.605.2 appears unlockable... The original, "first shipped" build was not. First OTA (2.17.605.2) is unlockable. The latest build version appears (so far) to not be unlockable...

My build is exactly what you posted above . So let's just say I had a later version and I tried to unlock via HTC dev, it won't work?

Correct. DO NOT allow the latest OTA get installed on your phone or you may not be able to unlock the bootloader.

I certainly will not allow this phone to get updated. So here's another question, would you say this phone is good for gaming? I got it cause of the adreno 225, my previous evo 3d had the 220. I'm also hoping that if I find a kernel that supports overclocking it can help things out. I want to match this phone up to the HTC evo 4g lte, which also has the adreno 225, but a 1.5 GHz dual core rather than 1.2.

I can't really answer that, as I do not use my phone for games. However, Jose has created a few overclocked kernels, and they are generally stable. 1.5 for sure, 1.8 *may* work, too.

Here's the only link you need: Droid Incredible 4G LTE Resource Index
Everything you need is in there
Yes, you can flash a kernel if you are s-on, but it must be done via fastboot.
IMHO, s-off makes life sooo much easier.

When I said "must be done via fastboot" there, I meant that you must push the kernel via a fastboot command using the command line on your computer (e.g. CMD window) while the phone is in fastboot mode. This can be done in Windows.
IMHO= In My Humble Opinion
s-off is truly unlocking everything on your (HTC) phone...

I s-offed my HTC evo 3d. It was really easy to do lol, I did it with the jb wire trick. With the fastboot command you mean fastboot/flash.. Etc?
