You need to go to the EVO 4G forum. http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-evo-4g
The EVO View 4G is a 7" tablet made by HTC for Sprint. http://reviews.cnet.com/tablets/htc-evo-view-4g/4505-3126_7-34555254.html
It is a bit confusing for Sprint's line of HTC devices, much like Verizon's Droid line, where they use a similar naming convention.
There's the EVO 4G, the 4.3" smartphone.
Then there's the EVO Shift 4G, a smartphone with a physical keyboard.
Then there's the EVO View 4G, a tablet based on the HTC Flyer (which is the first device mentioned in this forum's title).
Then there's the EVO 4G LTE, a smartphone based on the HTC One X but modified to be the successor to the EVO 4G.

Folks,
I just bought two new HTC EVO 3D's from Rogers. They came loaded with crap apps that can't be removed and that doesn't sit well with me.
What I know today: HBOOT=1.49.0008 and they're S-ON.
I'm not entirely sure if the GSM rooting instructions I found here (by happyhillsy8) apply as they run over the Rogers UMTS network. As I understand it, UMTS is a GSM variant.
Question:
1 - Do GSM rooting instructions apply to these devices?
2 - How do you determine which ROM version they have?
Thanks in advance
well there are a few different ways to root the 3d. The simplest and most effective imo is revolutionary (revolutionary.io). The program is compatible with the evo 3d gsm with your hboot, just make sure you dont upgrade it before using the program. the complete list can be found here:
http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/revolutionary
as for determining which rom, im not quite sure what you mean. You can figure out which rom you have by going into your settings and looking at your software information. If you're asking about which roms work on the gsm 3d, theres a whole gsm developement section.
Cheers. I just got my evo 3d (cdma) a few hours ago, and rooted with revolutionary. running infectedrom. works great
Sorry for this question if it's been asked already. I see the thread on flashing evo3d to VM, but not other way.
Is there an easy way to flash a Virgin Mobile HTC Evo V to Sprint? I'm wondering if it is as easy as running the sprint RUU flash.
i'm happy with a rooted stock evo3d ROM with Wimax, is that possible?
There is a fire sale for the Evo V, so this looks viable to replace my OG EVO 4G.
Thanks.
edit: my bad,,, I'm reviewing the flash to VM thread and I forget that is will require a donor phone and the whole bunch of stuff. So i don't think this is as easy as running the RUU!!!
hi i'm back with another question. well recently i switched from AT&T to Verizon, due to the quality of there service in my area. and i know the device has a dual antenna for GSM and CDMA. and from what you see in the title its pretty obvious i had the VIVID before this phone.... and the Vivid can be unlock via http://www.sieempi.eu/blog/2011/09/22/universal-sim-unlock-for-s-offed-htc-devices-536 ...... and in the title it says " for htc s-off'ed devices " could it unlock the sim.....??????????
This thread is relevant to your question: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1958006
Also, this thread (most of the posts are from before the 2.17.605.2 RUU dropped with global GSM support, but it's good for historical purposes): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1763631&highlight=sim+unlock&page=3
I own the HTC EVO 4G LTE and I'm rooted with S-off. I'm a previous EVO 4G flashaholic as well. I recently rooted my wife's Samsung Galaxy S2 and couldn't believe how much easier it was. A friend wants me to root his Galaxy Note and it appears to be just as easy. Why is there such a difference in processes? How can it be so much more difficult to gain root with S-off on a HTC phone as opposed to just a file download and a few clicks on a Samsung? I think this may affect my choice of phone on my next upgrade. The Galaxy S-4 is looking better all the time.
Sent from my rooted and S-off HTC EVO 4G LTE
Okay, I have an HTC EVO 4G LTE.. I have hardware version 0003, although I am waiting on the (late) update to 4.3 from HTC, My Bluetooth is NOT working.. I have tried the bluetooth fix (Needed root), did NOT work. It is NOT a known issue to HTC, however to Sprint it is. Any Ideas Community?:crying:
Yes, it is a known issue to Sprint, as several customers have returned their phones for that sane issue. I have had that issue as well, and nothing fixed it. Your device probably needs to be returned.

Take your phone to sprint and tell them your Bluetooth doesn't seem to work.
That is, assuming you have service with Sprint - if you don't it will just be awkward.
